10 Tropical-Theme Party Ideas for a Celebration in Paradise

Outdoor wedding reception

Imagine a sandy beach, a sky full of starlight, and your closest friends sharing a meal under a canopy of palms. While it’s not always possible to fly to a tropical destination, we can still bring the tropics to our milestone events — even if they’re inside or in our backyard. Whether you’re hosting a Bar Mitzvah celebration in Chicago or an intimate dinner party in New York City, the right tropical décor and cuisine can instantly transport your guests to a land of deep-blue seas and verdant greenery. These 10 tropical-theme party ideas prove that location is a state of mind — and that celebrations always take place in paradise.
