An invitation is the first inkling an eager guest receives about what to expect at your upcoming celebration. When it comes to an event as momentous as your wedding, we firmly believe that custom wedding invitations are the way to go.
Ideally, your wedding should be a combination of you and your beloved’s personalities and aspirations. In short, it should be a day that really feels like the two of you. Your custom wedding invitations should do the same.
There are many places from which to draw wedding invitation inspiration, from your wedding style or color-scape to your wedding’s locale. But one of our favorite sources is your wedding season. Expressing the season in your wedding invitation is a perfect way to ensure that your suite matches the tone of your upcoming nuptials.
When it comes to wedding seasons, each has its perks; from the vibrant hues of fall and spring to the hot summer and icy winter palettes. Read on to discover our favorite seasonally-inspired invitations — and to connect with the top invitation and print companies who can create your dream custom wedding invitations.
Fall Wedding Invitations
Though there’s always talk of “June weddings,” it may surprise you to know that autumn dates are even more in demand than summer dates. In fact, September edges out June for the most favored wedding month, then October closely follows the summer month in popularity.
And we understand why. After all, fall presents us with vibrant colors, crisp temperatures, and seasonal food options galore. It only makes sense, if you’re hosting autumn nuptials, that you opt for seasonal wedding invitations as well.
Fall wedding invitations often incorporate autumnal hues in either the envelope liners or in the invitation design. A beautiful fall wedding invitation sets the seasonal scene for a beautiful affair. See some of our favorites below.

No season does “rustic” better than fall. Don’t miss how this outdoor wedding evoked the season with autumn hues like pumpkin, rust, and mustard. The chic invitation suite from Blushtype Designs showcased a slightly muted, but no less chic, peach and cream palette.

Spring Wedding Invitations
Ah, spring, a celebration of all things new — delicate buds blooming, tree leaves unfurling fresh, and snow melting into gushing streams. What a beautiful time of year for a wedding.
A spring wedding is perhaps the wedding season most subject to the whim of mother nature. An outdoor wedding is one that needs to be planned twice — with A and B contingencies. But, when nature cooperates, it is truly the most beautiful time of year to say “I do.”
Spring wedding palettes are usually vibrant, with floral-forward affairs celebrating the gifts of the season. Your spring wedding invitation should do the same. Embrace the season with invitations that are a riot of color with florals or greenery. See some of our favorite spring wedding invitations below for beautiful inspiration.

Summer Wedding Invitations
Summer weddings are iconic for a reason — actually, several reasons. The longer days offer more hours for celebrating in the gloam of the setting sun. Warmer weather allows for outdoor weddings on a beach, in a garden, or on a city rooftop.
Décor options are endless with so many blooming florals to choose from. Summer’s bounty also offers bright fresh fare for your reception. And the season offers a much wider array of perfect spots for destination weddings.
When it comes to designing your summer wedding invitations, you can go as bold as the colors found at your local farmer’s market or as pretty and pastel as a summer sunset. See some of our favorite summer wedding invitations below to inspire your own planning.
11. Boho Summers-End Wedding
This late-summer bohemian wedding boasted luxe details like teal table linen, delicate pink florals, and endless king’s tables. We adore how beautifully the summer wedding invitations from Katie O’Brien evoke a sunset in the wild outdoors, allowing guests to glimpse the upcoming celebration.

When should I start thinking about my wedding invitations?
Your skilled event planner can help you create a cohesive timeline for every step of your wedding plan. In general terms, if you plan to send “save the date” cards, they should go out six months in advance of your wedding date. If you are opting for a destination wedding, you’ll want to give guests even more time to plan and to get their plane tickets, hotel rooms, and the like. Consider giving your guests eight to twelve months notice.
If you’re skipping formal “save the date” cards, you should plan to choose an invitation designer six months before your nuptials to allow time for your custom design, production, and mail.
Why should I opt for custom wedding invitations?
We spoke with one of the country’s premier invitation designers to learn more. “Custom invitations are the most reflective of the couple getting married and the vibe of their event because they are specifically made to the couple’s specifications. Since we manufacture on site, and use our own graphic artists for design, each suite is unique to the couple,” says Mona Seltzer, Creative Director of Social Sales with Alpine Creative Group.
