What’s not to love about a celebrity wedding? They offer up some of the most luxurious designs, incredible venues, and unique styles to inspire our own events — or simply just to ooh and ahh over. From setting trends such as getting married in domestic destinations (we’re talking the Biebers in South Carolina, Darren Criss in New Orleans, and DJ Tiesto in the Utah desert), to officially tying the knot months before their wedding day (hello, Chance the Rapper, then Sophie Turner), we’re loving all the similarities — and differences — between 2019’s epic celebrity weddings. The year was filled with so much A-list love, we had to narrow it down to the 19 we loved the most (in order of when they happened). Did your favorite duo — and wedding celebration — make the list?
Lauren Burnham + Arie Luyendyk Jr.
January 12, 2019
The year’s celebrity weddings started with a bang — and a breakup. If you follow along with Bachelor Nation, then you know the beginning of this couple’s happily-ever-after was anything but. In “the most dramatic Bachelor finale ever,” Arie Luyendyk Jr. proposed to Becca Kufrin, only to change his mind and go after runner-up Lauren Burnham. After all the controversy came Lauren and Arie’s fairytale ending, and we would accept any rose for a wedding design like this.
Their destination celebration took place at the romantic Haiku Mill in Hawaii. Enchanted greenery and, of course, specialty garden roses from Mandy Grace Designs surrounded the Chris Harrison-officated “I dos,” which were planned by the expert team at Elements by K.H & Co. We love how the couple complemented their organic décor by going green and repurposing their ceremony arch by Rustic Maui Wedding into a dramatic reception entryway.
Mia Sweir + Darren Criss
February 16, 2019
As if Valentine’s Day weekend doesn’t make us feel single enough, Glee star Darren Criss and his girlfriend of seven years, director and producer Mia Sweir, tied the knot on the 7th Saturday of 2019 with one of the most extraordinary celebrations we’ve seen. The New Orleans Museum of Art offered the perfect setting and location for the musical duo’s edgy taste. Kristin Banta of Kristin Banta Events planned “a dusk ceremony in the sculpture garden under the Spanish moss, an opium den-inspired cocktail reception… and a surprise explosive neon after-party inside the museum.”
Darren and Mia surprised their guests with more than an after party. They started the evening by officiating their own nuptials — Criss even provided the ceremony music, thanks to his songwriting background. The newlyweds continued their non-traditional night with a “first song” performance instead of a first dance, followed by an incredible concert reception. What else would you expect from the musical duo? They even incorporated some of our 2020 wedding trend predictions into their incredible day.
Lea Michele + Zandy Reich
March 9, 2019
Another Glee-ful wedding indeed, Lea Michelle and her now-husband Zandy Reich celebrated their marriage with co-stars, family, and friends in romantic wine country. The bride and groom kicked off their planning process by calling on celebrity wedding planner, Lisa Vorce, who took care of every swoon-worthy detail. We love how the minimalistic Carneros Resort affair reflected the couple’s personality, including Lea’s love for music, with details such as sheet note-inspired place cards and a matching musical cake stand. The tented reception’s simple white and green décor palette is never going out of style — nor is our love for this sweet pair.
Kirsten Corley + Chance the Rapper
March 9, 2019
Chancelor Benett met his wife, Kristin Corley, at just nine years old — long before he was known as Chicago legend, Chance the Rapper. Sixteen years and one child later, Chance and Kristin said “I do” at the stunning Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California — all captured by Duke Images. Their A-list audience included Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, who sat with 150 other guests overlooking sweeping ocean views and a stunning white floral-framed rotunda from Nisie’s Enchanted Florist. Jeannie Savage of Details Details planned the remarkable day, which included an all-white ballroom reception and energizing live music — rumor has it Kanye even tried to join the band on stage.
Char Defrancesco + Marc Jacobs
April 6, 2019
Despite celebrating with nearly 700 guests, iconic designer Marc Jacobs and his love Char Defrancesco managed to keep their wedding festivities fairly private. Here’s what we do know: The proclaimed ‘wedding of the decade’ took place at The Grill, a luxurious New York City restaurant — and the fashion was fierce. A-list fashion figures from the infamous Anna Wintour to rising star Gigi Hadid were dressed to impress. It’s safe to say the dance floor itself could have been a runway as celebs partied to DJ Fat Tony’s 80s throwbacks.
Other reception highlights included an interactive, cartoon-inspired photo booth, a breathtaking five-tiered wedding cake from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, chic floral arrangements from Ariel Dearie Flowers, caviar bars, dressed up dancers, and more. Guests were gifted custom loungewear at the end of the night, with a note reading “I came to Marc and Char’s wedding and all I got was this lousy sweatshirt.” If anyone has an extra, let us know.
Katherine Schwarzenegger + Chris Pratt
June 8, 2019
The summer of 2019 came as fast as Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt’s marriage, and we couldn’t have asked for a better celebrity wedding to get it going. After dating for about a year, the beloved actor and author exchanged vows at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. Katherine’s modest white bouquet matched the chic reception, which included an outdoor cocktail hour, fresh and local cuisine, and music ranging from old school classics to modern hits — in other words, Neil Diamond to Miley Cyrus. We especially love how the celebration reflected the bride’s bright and bubbly personality throughout.
Katherine McPhee + David Foster
June 28, 2019
Katherine McPhee went overseas to marry David Foster in a beautiful ceremony at the Church of Saint Yeghiche in London, followed by a chic restaurant reception planned by Banana Split. The season 5 American Idol winner and Canadian musician first crossed paths in 2006, when McPhee sang a tune written by Foster as a contestant on the show. Could this have been love at first sound? Probably not, since they have both been married since, but they eventually found each other again and started officially dating in 2017. The couple wanted their Oswald’s Club reception to feel like they were in a loved one’s home. Their dream of a cozy celebration was met with a family-style dinner spread, floral-lined stair banister, and conversational setting.
Sophie Turner + Joe Jonas
June 29, 2019
The year 2019 wouldn’t be complete without Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ epic wedding(s). The megastars “secretly” married in a Las Vegas ceremony on May 1, which you may have watched — and wondered if it was real — thanks to American DJ, Diplo’s controversial Instagram live stream. Two months later, the Grammy-nominated ‘JoBro’ and Game of Thrones lead opted for a more romantic walk down the aisle in the South of France.
The destination wedding weekend began with a Hôtel La Mirande rehearsal dinner. Guests were asked to wear all white, while the bride and groom-to-be showed up in bold red ensembles, putting their own twist on tradition. The following day came a private Château du Martinet ceremony followed by a reception at the ever-elegant Château de Tourreau — all planned by the team at Joy Proctor Design. As expected, guests were asked to leave their phones behind (we’re looking at you, Diplo) as they celebrated the fun loving duo.
Ashley Iaconetti + Jared Haibon
August 11, 2019
Oh, how we love a Bachelor Nation wedding. So much so, that we had to dedicate an entire article to Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon’s Newport, Rhode Island “I dos.” We won’t go into all the details of their complicated love story (aka, meeting on Bachelor in Paradise and all the tears that came after), but in the end, these two breakout stars got their fairytale ending — and a fairytale wedding to match.
The waterfront Rosecliff Mansion offered the perfect space for festivities, from the manicured terrace with sweeping sunset views for cocktail hour to the regal ballroom setting that housed the following reception. Simply Troy Lifestyle + Events worked with Birch Event Design to bring Ashley’s dream design to life. We love the luxe emerald focus, from the suede bar to the table linens and the matching bridesmaid’s dresses. Other memorable elements included photo booth pictures printed onto takehome donuts — the perfect parting gift for the who’s who of Bachelor Nation to post on Instagram — and we can’t forget the incredible music from Jordan Kahn Orchestra.
Rachel Lindsay + Bryan Abasolo
August 24, 2019
If only our wedding day portraits could look like this. The Bachelorette season 13 lead, Rachel Lindsay, fell in love as Bryan Alasolo hopped out of the limo and stole her heart on the first night of filming. Ten weeks and about a dozen roses later, Lindsay and Alasolo were engaged. The couple went from a two-year engagement to a six-month planning turnaround, with help from Mikie Russo of Michael Russo Events. The design team at Grupo Gama created an island-inspired atmosphere for the Mexico wedding, which perfectly complemented the tropical dinner menu and Royalton Suites Cancun venue.
Ellie Goulding + Casper Jopling
August 31, 2019
No, it wasn’t a royal wedding — but it sure felt like one. Fans lined the streets of York to see native singer Ellie Goulding and her famous guest list enter York Minster Cathedral for the star’s August “I dos.” Goulding pulled up to the church in a royal blue VW van, which was embellished with florals that complemented the bride’s elegant white rose bouquet. It’s no surprise that every day-of detail was flawless — the couple’s wedding planner, Fait Accompli, is Kensington Palace’s go-to team, having planned the weddings of Princess Diana and Kate Middleton. Goulding and Jopling continued the celebration at Castle Howard with 300 guests that we can only assume ‘love her like we do.’
Keleigh Sperry + Miles Teller
September 1, 2019
The most popular wedding month started with a true fan favorite. Longtime actor Miles Teller popped the question to his girlfriend of four years on a safari in South Africa, and the romantic proposal was followed by an even dreamier wedding. The couple secured the stunning Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua as their destination venue with help from the expert planners at Christie Rose Events.
We can’t get enough of the thoughtful décor details, including an original sapphire and white invitation suite from Ceci New York, which came full circle to match the outdoor cocktail hour’s standalone seating chart — and the Pacific Ocean backdrop, of course. Strung lights lit up the palm tree-framed reception, which featured magenta florals, tropical greenery, and a rustic wood dance floor at its center from the design team at Unveiled Hawaii. Oh, and did we forget to mention that DJ Kygo flew in to DJ the jungle-themed, ballroom-covered after party?
Hailey Baldwin + Justin Bieber

September 13, 2019
We know it’s no surprise that the Biebers made our favorite celebrity wedding list, but their A-list stardom isn’t the only reason. Hailey and Justin’s luxurious Montage Palmetto Bluff wedding weekend was worthy in itself. The Lowcountry South Carolina festivities began with a Sunday night rehearsal dinner in one of the 20,000-acre resort’s outdoor spaces. Mindy Weiss Party Consultants planned an enchanted night that included a boat ride entrance, an oyster roast, local cuisine, glowing candles, whimsical strung lights, and a bowling after party.
The couple’s exchange of vows took place in the resort’s Somerset Chapel. Guests were awaited by an ethereal ballroom reception that brought Beauty and the Beats to the night. Jaw-dropping ceiling foliage from the high-end floral team at Mark’s Garden served as the design’s focal point, while captivating candlelit tablescapes crafted by Revelry Event Designers drew guests in. As the party got going, the groom’s favorite color (purple) lit up the dance floor, while the star-studded crowd was seen sipping on bubbly from a glistening Moet bottle customized for the couple. Justin, we’re so happy you found somebody to love.
Annika Backes + DJ Tiesto
September 21, 2019
Monochrome aisles, pampas grass florals, minimalist bouquets — these are a few of our favorite things, and apparently they’re also favorites of Annika Backes and Tijs Michiel Verwest (otherwise known as DJ Tiesto), who wed in September. Colin Cowie of Colin Cowie Lifestyle planned the most magical desert day at Amangiri. The venue’s majestic mountain backdrop enhanced a striking red reception, along with rose-lined tables, moody projection lighting, and rows of flickering candles. Cowie described the incredible transition of events, including an after dinner surprise, where “guests were led back into the ceremony area, which we transitioned into the hottest nightclub, complete with a mirrored maze at the entry. The groom, DJ Tiesto, wrote and produced a song for his new bride, which played just before dancing and magical fireworks.”
Hilarie Burton + Jeffrey Dean Morgan
October 5, 2019
If you’re a 90s baby, then this couple means more to you than most. That’s right: One Tree Hill’s Peyton Sawyer and Greys Anatomy’s Denny Duquette tied the knot in New York City to kick off October. After being together for over a decade, Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan decided to start a new one as husband and wife. We love this celebration for so many reasons — one being that the event served as a major One Tree Hill cast reunion, filling our inner middle school selves with so much joy. Guests raved about the couple’s perfect day, planned by Glow Events, at which the couple’s two children stood by their side as they exchanged heartwarming vows. Poppies and Posies added timeless floral décor to The Bowery Hotel’s boutique space, at which an intimate group of family and friends danced the night away in honor of “Mr. and Mrs. Morgan.”
Mery Perello + Rafael Nadal
October 19, 2019
Currently ranked as the number one singles tennis player in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Rafael Nadal is used to putting on a show. But this time, guests weren’t there to see him play. Nadal married his girlfriend of 14 years, insurance banker Mery Perello, in front of 350 attendees (including the previous King of Spain, Juan Carlos I). The notoriously private athlete kept his Mallorca nuptials secretive, which took place at one of the island’s most luxurious waterfront castles, La Fortaleza. The fortress’ stunning oceanfront scenery served as a picture-perfect wedding backdrop, and we love how the bride’s simple hydrangea bouquet let the view do the talking.
Jennifer Lawrence + Cooke Maroney
October 19, 2019
One day we’ll get to see photos from JLaws star-studded wedding, but for now, this stunning shot of their Rhode Island venue will do. The pair celebrated in the Belcourt of Newport, and we can’t think of a more perfect setting to bring out old Hollywood glamour vibes for the iconic actress and her beau. The Gilded Age mansion, which belongs to the owners of Alex and Ani, features royal French-inspired architecture, yards of perfectly manicured lawns, magnificent ballrooms, and breathtaking chandeliers.
Nearly 140 guests attended Jennifer and Cooke’s clambake rehearsal dinner the night prior, which took place on the coast under a chic white tent, in true East Coast style. Food was a major element at the reception itself, as the newlyweds treated A-list guests from Kris Jenner to Adele to a mouthwatering menu. Desserts included elevated s’mores and sourdough bread pudding, while the raging after party offered food trucks such as “Boston’s Baddest Food Truck” and “Maine-ly Lobstah.” The night transitioned to morning, with celebs filing out of the estate around 5:30 a.m. We would certainly volunteer as tribute to attend their next milestone celebration.
Lauren Bushnell + Chris Lane
October 25, 2019
Who knew the stars would align when country music met reality TV? Lauren Bushnell, season 20 “winner” of The Bachelor, found love with country music star Chris Lane, and we’ve found love in their secret garden wedding design. The Nashville-based couple got married in their current hometown at 14TENN, a chic raw space. Josiah Carr of Ninth & Everett helped plan the perfect wedding in just four months, while Stella Rose Floral transformed the modern, barn-inspired venue into a dreamy indoor garden. Fresh greenery, rustic wood furniture, romantic candles, and 160 of their nearest and dearest filled the reception. We love the “The Lanes” neon signage that made an appearance in the duo’s wedding film — which Lane turned into a music video for his new song Big Big Plans (a song he dedicated to his new wife).
Devon Windsor + Johnny Dex Barbara
November 16, 2019
We’ll take a Victoria’s Secret Angel wedding over the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show any day. Model Devon Windsor swapped the runway for the aisle to marry her boyfriend Johnny Barbara (also known as Johnny Dex) in an intimate St. Barths wedding weekend, about a year after he popped the question in the Bahamas. The genetically-blessed couple clearly loves a tropical getaway, and we’re loving all the details from their beautiful oceanfront celebration.
From the beach party rehearsal dinner (fit with beer pong, cocktails, and the sound of crashing waves) to the floral-filled church ceremony and their “Just Married” Jeep Wrangler getaway, we can’t stop staring at all the photos from the tropical celebration, which was planned by Mindy Weiss of Mindy Weiss Party Consultants. Devon and Johnny’s Eden Rock Hotel reception started with a candlelit sunset cocktail hour, followed by a romantic reception filled with furniture that was handpicked by the groom. DJ Ross One and surprise guest performer Sean Paul kept the party going until the early hours of the next morning — and we’re not surprised no one wanted to go to bed.
