What is a wedding weekend?

Hosting a wedding weekend has become increasingly popular. Couples may plan extra events and activities for their wedding party and guests to partake in during the weekend leading up to, and following, the wedding. Hosting your wedding weekend in a city meaningful to the couple, or one that is packed full of activities, like Phoenix and Scottsdale, makes it easy to plan an engaging weekend.

What is the best season to get married in Phoenix?

Amy Mancuso from Amy Mancuso Events shared, “You can get married in Phoenix and Scottsdale year round. If you can’t bear the heat in June, July, and August, opt for an indoor venue. Our most popular months are March, April, and May in the Spring, and October and November in the Fall. Any time from the end of September to the end of May, you are almost always guaranteed a sunny day and temperatures ranging from 60 degrees in December and January to 80 and above the rest of the year. If you love outdoor ceremonies and dining al fresco, Phoenix/Scottsdale is the place to do it.”

Where can you get married in Phoenix?

Mancuso shared with us, “There are so many wonderful wedding venues here in Phoenix/Scottsdale that it would be like picking your favorite child — so hard to do. Because the availability of venues is so vast and fall into so many different categories, there is no lack of options for any couple wanting to get married here. From some of the highest rated resorts in the United States, to amazing golf courses, world renowned museums, stand alone event venues, plus so many others depending on your style and budget — we have it all!”

Can I repurpose my wedding arch for the reception?

Many couples will choose to repurpose a wedding arch for their reception décor. Kate Whelan, Owner and Senior Event Consultant of Kate Whelan Events, emphasizes the importance of working with your wedding planner or design team. “They can be strategic in recommending pieces that can be easily moved or design the floral pieces so that they are modular and can be transferred for placement at your sweetheart table, cake table, or another feature you’d like to accent with the repurposed décor.

“Also, consider what will be going on in the spaces where items are being moved. If this move can be done during the cocktail hour, where guests are in a completely different space, this is ideal. That way they aren’t in the way of the move or seeing the behind-the-scenes magic happen.”

When should I get married in Wine Country California?

Tara Ybarra of Ybarra Events notes, “Winery wedding venues are all stunning year round! Northern California has beautiful weather, no matter if you are getting married in February or September! Yes, it does rain more in the winter months, but the rain is often minimal and drizzles at night, leaving things fresh and dewy for the winter weddings in the day time. You definitely should still think about your rain plan, but I, more often than not, have rain plans that I never have to use.

“In about mid-February, the mustard flowers start to pop up in-between the sleeping grapevines. As I drive from one side of a county to another, I can look out my window and admire a sea of yellow. In April-May, the flowers are all starting to bloom. Not only are there stunning planted gardens, but the wild flowers! California poppies are endless! The end of May is when the roses really start to emerge. June is one of my favorite months for the abundance of roses. Once you roll into June-July, all of the grass turns golden and the hills glow in the sunset.

“August-October is harvest time! The vines are lush with grapes and music fills the air (whether it is all in my head, or there are festivals taking place). November and December, the leaves turn and the romance of our mild and cozy winter sets in. December and January are months that probably the least number of weddings are booked, but if you are willing to risk the rain, the canopy of clouds can offer the perfect lighting for wedding photos. It never gets too cold as well!”

Celebrity weddings and events tend to be among the most exquisite — full of rich detail and memorable moments. These events that flood our social media feeds and newsstands have been crafted by some of the most experienced planners in the world.

These planners are trusted with the most intimate details of the most public celebrities and are responsible for celebrations viewed the world over. It’s a lot of responsibility, and yet, there are wedding planners who are tapped over and over again for these high-profile, meaningful celebrations.

Top wedding planner Sharon Sacks of Sacks Productions, shares, “I think there is a misunderstanding about celebrity weddings. Celebrities, like all couples, are extremely emotional at their wedding. A bride is a celebrity on the day of her wedding; a celebrity is a bride on the day of her wedding. The emotion is there no matter who you are. It’s a time when there’s a very, very strong bond, with tenderness, sensitivity, and happiness that is really beautiful and true for all couples, including celebrities.”

Though we’ve listed the location of their offices, every one of these skilled planners routinely work in varied locations across the globe and boast continent-spanning vendor lists to produce the most memorable celebrations. Additionally, a planner will offer advice based on years of experience as well as a list of trusted vendors for everything from your caterer to your photographer. Your planner will guide you through whom to book first and when. They will also help you side-step potentially difficult situations.

We truly believe that having the assistance of a wedding planner is imperative (and the earlier in your process, the better).

Are destination weddings back?

A “destination wedding” quite literally means getting married somewhere other than where you live. That destination can be within the country or anywhere in the world. And, yes, they are back.

Top celebrity wedding planner Sharon Sacks of Sacks Productions shares, “We are seeing many destination weddings. I think as a result of what we’ve experienced, people really want their friends and family to come with them as they say ‘I do.’ Some of the more popular destinations we’re seeing are Lake Como, the South of France, Anguilla, Cabo, and other private areas of Mexico and Spain. Within the United States, we’re seeing Napa, Aspen, Wyoming, and Nashville (specifically, Blackberry Farms). The palate is unlimited, and it’s all based on personal preference. Couples are looking for incredible, special places to wed.”

From Ranches to Luxury Hotels: 8 Best Aspen Wedding Venues

If you’re dreaming of exchanging vows atop a mountain and hosting a wedding weekend full of adventure, the following Aspen wedding venues are just what you’re looking for. Though these venues vary in size and location — from resorts in the heart of Aspen to ranches just outside of town — these settings have one common theme: stunning mountain views.

Take advantage of your venue’s outdoor setting by incorporating a wedding theme that highlights the natural elements of the location. Plan a garden themed wedding in the courtyard of your luxe resort or a celestial themed reception under the stars in the meadow of your rustic ranch. You can make just about every wedding style work with these venues.

A major perk of hosting your wedding in Aspen is the abundance of opportunities to engage in outdoor activities. Travel out west to indulge in all of the beautiful, natural landscape that Colorado has to offer by booking a venue that doubles as an activity hotspot. Allow your wedding weekend to become a weekend of adventure by offering horseback riding through wilderness paths or skiing down legendary slopes with your guests.

We consulted top event planner Elizabeth K. Slossberg of EKS Events to assemble this list of eight amazing Aspen wedding venues. Keep reading to discover a venue that perfectly matches your dream western aesthetic.

For one of Houston’s most beautiful green spaces…

Houston Botanic Garden features 132 acres of horticultural displays, walking trails, and beautiful green space.

Exchange vows in Woodland Glade for a romantic outdoor ceremony set amongst magnolia trees and manicured hedges.

Consider hosting a smaller reception in the Culinary Garden Tent for a weather-proof celebration in a climate-controlled tent — and spectacular garden views.

A cocktail hour is just as picturesque in the Alcoves where a covered walkway, lined with beautiful planter boxes, opens up to the Global Collection Garden.

Make sure to stage your first look in one of the many garden spaces for an intimate moment before the wedding festivities begin.

We especially love how event rental proceeds directly support Houston Botanic Garden’s conservation and education efforts.

For historic grandeur set in the countryside…

Houston, TX

Romance is in the air at this chic Texana barn venue.

The Grand Texana — which includes a historic dairy barn and farmstead estate — is a historical landmark with a rich history that begins long before Texas independence.

World-renowned architect Wyatt C. Hendrick later purchased the land and designed two famous dairy barns with iconic Dutch colonial gambrel roofs. Today, the Chapel Barn and Reception Barn serve as rustic and elegant settings to say, “I do.”

The Greenhouse Arbor, with an antique barn cupola, makes for a picturesque outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by woodlands and countryside.

We especially love the Pecan Orchard for first looks and wedding portraits.

Designed exclusively with romance in mind, this boutique venue offers over 7,800 square feet of combined facilities for a celebration that will capture your unique vision.

For picturesque scenery and stunning views…

Houston, TX

Shirley Acres, situated on 21 wooded acres, is a family-owned-and-operated all-inclusive venue.

The inspiration for Shirley Acres began with four weddings on a private estate. After witnessing the joy of their own children saying, “I do,” Ralph and Lou Shirley decided to open up their land to the public and host celebrations year-round.

For an outdoor wedding ceremony, The Courtyard features a romantic arbor and seasonal flowers.

Indoor dinners and receptions are always memorable in The Pavilion. Overlooking a pond, this intimate space features exposed wooden beams and rustic chandeliers.

For more vibrant celebrations, The Garden Room brings ballroom-elegance to the great outdoors.

For romantic backdrops in a lush natural setting…

Houston, TX

Situated in the southwest corner of Memorial Park, Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is one of the oldest nature education facilities in Texas.

With a dual mission of nature education and land conservation, this 155-acre arboretum provides a sanctuary for native plants and animals.

The Meadow Deck overlooks a native demonstration meadow and one-acre pond, making it a romantic backdrop for an outdoor wedding ceremony.

We also love ceremonies and receptions at The Lily Pond where guests can marvel at the arboretum’s pristine beauty.

All indoor spaces boast floor-to-ceiling windows, so even corporate functions can enjoy a backdrop of nature.

Children can also revel in the magic of the outdoors as the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a great setting for kids birthday parties — fun with a side of learning and sunshine.

We especially loved the “signs of nature” theme where kids become detectives and learn to track the many reclusive animals on the grounds.

13 Boho Wedding Arch Ideas for Your Unconventional Nuptials

Boho weddings embody playful, free-spirited style. They can range from rustic to glamorous, while still maintaining a whimsical, organic vibe. The thousands of photos from real boho weddings on PartySlate have convinced me of one thing: Though I said “I do” at a black tie ballroom affair 25 years ago, if I could do it all over again, I would embrace this unconventional aesthetic.

No two bohemian weddings are the same, yet there are some chic details that they tend to have in common. Nature is often the perfect setting for boho nuptials — gardens, forests, and beaches set a lush scene. Soft and earthy color palettes like pastels, neutrals, and earth tones work well. These affairs tend to layer on even more natural elements like flowers, greenery, pampas grass, and macrame fringe for a stunning vision.

When it comes to twists on the style, we love creative boho wedding ceremony details like layering vintage rugs to create a unique aisle, forgoing floral bouquets in favor of feather or tassel arrangements, and offering mismatched vintage furniture for cozy guest seating. All of these design flourishes will create the perfect setting for your ceremonial arch. Below you’ll find boho wedding arch ideas, along with the wedding planners behind the look, to inspire your own non-traditional celebration.
