In San Francisco, where everyone knows Love is Love, all couples can walk hand in hand down the street and be accepted. San Fran is a city where LGBTQ+ weddings and multicultural celebrations are welcomed.”

Couples also love the countless photo ops. Ybarra adds, “From the incredible views to the remarkable buildings, San Francisco offers some amazing backdrops for your wedding day.”

Where can I have an outdoor wedding in San Francisco?

San Francisco is the perfect scenic city to host your outdoor wedding. There are plenty of stunning wedding venues that offer outdoor event spaces. Check out PartySlate’s venue directory for San Francisco, and make sure to use the filters to narrow your options until you locate your ideal space.

What wedding vendors should I hire first?

Planning your wedding comes with a long list of vendors to hire, and it can be daunting to figure out who to start with. Finding an event planner is your first step. From there, nailing down a venue should be your top priority since wedding dates go fast these days. Some venues will offer a list of their preferred caterers and other vendors which may help simplify your next steps. Photographers and wedding entertainment also book up fast, so work with your planner to get those secured, as well.

What can I do in San Francisco for my wedding weekend?

Tara Ybarra from Ybarra Events shared with us, “San Francisco is so incredibly convenient. Couples can fly their loved ones in from around the globe, and they don’t need to worry about being able to find a venue or transportation. There are so many options that are so easily accessible. Another fantastic reason to choose to celebrate your nuptials in San Francisco: the surrounding entertainment!

“Wine tasting, hiking, cheese trails, theatre, the food… I always encourage my couples to plan the days leading up to their wedding day. Hop on over to Napa and immerse yourself in luxury for the day. Hike through Muir Woods in awe and take in the immensity of the Redwoods. Commission a sailboat and dine on the Bay. There is really no place like Northern California.”

Khadija Hansia-Gibson of Limelight Productions, says, “San Francisco is a special place to get married because it accommodates everyone’s needs — whether you want an outdoor lush wedding at the SF Botanical, a modern, sleek look like Gallery 308, or a historical venue like The Palace Hotel. Transportation is easy, food is great, and the vibe of the city is relaxed, making it the perfect wedding weekend backdrop. It doesn’t hurt that Wine Country is an hour north of SF, and beautiful Monterey two hours south.”

Alex Quintana of Quintana Events comments, “I think couples like San Francisco because it has many large indoor options with backdrops of the city, an abundance of hotel options for out of town guests, and sight-seeing opportunities for that special urban wedding feel.”

6 Evanston Wedding Venues That Marry City Vibes With Suburban Ease

Evanston may be Chicago’s closest Northern suburb, but it’s also a vibrant city in its own right. With sandy beaches and a thriving downtown area, Evanston offers something for everyone — including myself. Choosing to get married in Evanston was a no-brainer for me. It’s convenient location — poised perfectly between Chicago and the North Shore — meant it was easily accessible for all of my guests. Despite having an indoor wedding, I was able to find gorgeous outdoor photo ops for a first-look. Best of all, there were plenty of nearby activities for my friends and family (without the traffic jams).

Now that you’ve finalized your location, it’s time narrow in on your venue choice. As Managing Editor of PartySlate, I spend most of my days looking at the best wedding venues in the country. These 6 Evanston wedding venues won me over with their big city thrills and small-town charm. Discover critically-acclaimed museums, elegant hotels, and dedicated event spaces. Admire the Gothic architecture of Northwestern University, and enjoy breathtaking views of Chicago’s skyline from the lakefront. With so much to do and explore, your guests just might forget to visit downtown Chicago altogether.

People Also Ask…

When is the most popular time of year for an Atlanta wedding?

Graddick of CHRISTOPHER MARCS DESIGN tells us, “Early spring, late summer, and fall are popular times for weddings in Georgia.  Many couples choose this time of year because of the extreme temperatures that we experience during the warmer months. In addition to seasonal preferences, several couples are selecting days of the week outside of the traditional Saturday event day, including Friday and Sunday weddings.”

For Saxe of SpecialTevents, one month stands out amongst the rest. “October is the prime wedding month in Atlanta. The weather is typically mild, not very humid and not historically rainy.”

How do you select the best wedding venue for your Atlanta celebration?

Graddick and Saxe share some of the most important factors to consider when choosing a wedding venue:

Package Inclusions: “I make sure that the client knows what’s included in the venues and what would be an additional cost and that also helps them to decide,” Saxe says. Graddick adds that it’s important to know, “What does the venue offer in addition to space to accommodate our anticipated guest count, design, event plan, etc.?”

Venue Cost: Graddick says, “When selecting a venue, you should consider the venue’s investment. Is the venue’s cost within budget? NOTE: Do not ignore the food and beverage minimum.”

Restrictions: Graddick reminds us that restrictions are not limited to catering. “This may include production elements such as drones and cold sparklers,” he tells us.

Accessibility: Graddick asks, “Is the venue easy to locate/navigate? Do not forget parking and guests who may have mobility issues. Ensure that your venue is ADA compliant and is accessible to all your guests.”

Hotel vs. Offsite Space: “Hotel weddings have a completely different feel to off-site venues,” Saxe tells us. “Additionally, when the majority of guests are from out of town, it’s important to consider that transporting them to an off-site venue adds a significant amount to the budget, whilst hosting the wedding in the hotel also makes it easy for those people traveling.” On the other hand, “Many of the warehouse type venues in Atlanta are the perfect canvas for us to transform into their dream wedding, and we can customize every single detail so that no two weddings are the same,” Saxe says.

Do I really need to hire a wedding planner?

We always recommend booking a wedding planner before you check off any other item on your wedding planning to-do list. Desai of KIS(cubed) Events tells us, “Hiring a wedding planner is not merely a convenience; it’s a crucial investment in the success of your luxury wedding. Our specialized training in hospitality and extensive experience in event planning equip us to deliver a wedding that exceeds your expectations in every way. From the grand vision to the smallest detail, we ensure that your wedding day is a flawless, luxurious affair that you and your guests will cherish forever.”

Gainey of Lemiga Events reminds us, “I’m paid to be the expert and help guide my clients to maximize the financial commitment they are spending on their wedding, avoid potential pitfalls, and allow them to enjoy the process!”

The Best Indian Wedding Planners in the Country

Indian weddings are often multi-day affairs that involve a large number of friends and family, with events unfolding across various venues. Plus, there are cultural traditions that might require additional permitting. All of this means that to truly have a stunning and meaningful Indian wedding, you’re going to want to hire a wedding planner.

Specifically, you need a planner who is familiar with the regional rituals and customs that are important to you. Your perfect Indian wedding planner should also boast a trusted vendor list, a detail-oriented approach, excellent time management and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to conceptualize and execute a wedding that reflects your personalities and preferences.

It’s a tall order, to be sure. Luckily for you, PartySlate has considered all of these factors and more to create a list of the best Indian wedding planners in the U.S. (and even one in Mexico, for good measure). These planners consistently produce epic, memorable, and highly-personal Indian weddings.

note: This article focuses specifically on Indian weddings, but we plan to widen our scope in the future to include additional cultures from the larger South Asian diaspora. Many of the planners featured on this list plan events across many cultures; here, we are celebrating their work producing epic, memorable Indian weddings.

We’ve organized this list by city, but most of these planners routinely produce weddings nationally and internationally, and we’ve noted the travel range for each.

12 Simple Wedding Centerpieces for the Minimalist Couple

Make no mistake: simple wedding centerpieces are anything but boring. Consider the centuries-old Japanese art of floral arrangement known as Ikebana. This Buddhist tradition embraces a minimalist aesthetic — where every petal, leaf, and stem is as important as the final composition.

These days, wedding florists and full-service planners are curating elegant centerpieces that embrace simplicity. These thoughtfully designed tablescapes give each element its due — from single-stem floral arrangements and stark greenery to rows of tapered candles.

Discover our must-see list of simple but stunning tableaus. If you see a design that you like, make sure to click into the full event album and save your favorites photos by clicking on the heart at the top right corner.

Best Wedding Colors [Guide]

Wedding colors determine the tone, mood, and style of your celebration. Much like the sun in a solar system, a color palette is the guiding force that sets every element of your celebration in motion.

Think about it. An all-white wedding evokes a completely different feel than a technicolor reception with vibrant wedding color schemes. Similarly, a red and black wedding feels different than a pastel-toned affair.

Before you begin the fun-filled process of selecting wedding décor and attire, it’s important to know your color schemes. Your wedding color palette will create an experience for your guests — starting from the moment that they open their wedding invitations.

How to Pick Wedding Colors

With all of the possible color combinations, you might be wondering “What should my wedding colors be?”

Several factors may determine your final wedding colors. Colors — found everywhere in the natural world — come with psychological and cultural associations. Even the seasons come with their own set of color associations.

For example, you’re more likely to find a jewel-toned palette at a winter wedding than a spring wedding. Likewise, summer weddings tend to feature more citrus tones than autumn celebrations

Of course, no two humans are the same. Consequently, different people may have different connections with the same colors. When it comes to choosing your wedding colors, we recommend starting with a list of your favorite colors. Compare your list it to your beloved’s list to narrow your palette to hues you both adore.

What Are Examples of Color Schemes?

Wedding mandap with light gray, gold, pale pink, and light blue wedding colors | PartySlate
photographer: Nayeem Vohra Photography & Films | planner: Tum Hi Ho Events | décor: L’Ambiance Weddings | venue: Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina

According to color theory, a color scheme is the selection of specific color combinations used in design work. For those of us afraid of making the ultimate “clashing” error, there’s no need to worry. Colors schemes offer a simple set of guidelines for selecting stunning color combinations. Here are three popular color schemes used throughout the design world:

Monochromatic Color Scheme: Emphasis on a single hue with various shades, tints, and tones

Complementary Color Scheme: The combination of a primary and secondary color

Analogous Color Scheme: Three closely-related colors on the color wheel

A basic understanding of color schemes can help guide you as you select your wedding colors. We also recommend relying on your wedding planner for direction and inspiration when it comes to choosing color combinations.

What Are Popular Wedding Colors?

Wedding trends may come and go, but some wedding color schemes will always be popular. For example, we’ve all heard of the “white wedding” (thank you, Billy Idol). Other classic combinations include black and white — as well as navy and blush.

Moreover, couples often select their wedding color palette based on their wedding date. Spring colors, for example, tend to be light and ethereal. Winter colors, on the other hand, are often dark and bold. Click to discover PartySlate’s top seasonal wedding color palettes:

Lastly, couples often rely on the “Pantone Color of the Year” to inspire their wedding palette and décor. For over two decades, the Pantone Color Institute has used trend-forcasting research to to select the “colour of the year.” You can read about much-discussed color choices of 2021 here.

What Are Traditional Wedding Colors?

Traditional wedding colors tend to eschew eclectic or funky combinations. At PartySlate, we often see monochromatic color schemes that revolve around a single color —  be it white, pink, or blue.

We also find many wedding color palettes that combine two contrasting colors. Popular examples of this dual-color combination include:

Black and White

• Red and Black

• White and Gold

• Navy and Blush

• Burgundy and Gold

• Coral and Navy

Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg (or should we say, rainbow?). Search PartySlate’s Wedding Gallery to see real wedding celebrations. You can even filter your results by wedding colors and styles.

What Do Colors Mean in a Wedding?

Three couples on their wedding day.
from left to right: Olujr Photographer | photographer: Duke Images | photographer: Santiago Almada Photography

It’s true, colors have always conveyed psychological and cultural meanings. Go back as far as Ancient Rome, and you’ll find the color purple representing “authority” and “wealth.” It turns out that there’s a reason why togas were dyed purple, as opposed to green.

Of course, wedding colors mean different things in different cultures. For example, American brides tend to wear white (representing innocence and purity) on their wedding day. Chinese brides, on the other hand, often wear red — as red represents happiness and good fortune.

Even the shade of a color can affect its meaning. Take a look at the color red, for example. A darker shade of red might evoke drama and passion in Western culture, while a softer shade (like pink) might elicit thoughts of softness and gentleness

Remember, colors can also have personal meanings. One couple may associate the color “blue” with sadness (aka, “the blues”). A different couple, however, may think of whimsy and playfulness. Ever hear Rhapsody in Blue?

With this in mind, make sure to consider your own personal preferences and associations when selecting your wedding color palette.

In addition to consulting your wedding planner and design team, you can use PartySlate to find cutting-edge inspiration as well as timeless ideas.

The best times to get married are largely contingent on weather, traffic, and costs. While some couples may prioritize optimal weather, others may choose to opt for an off-season wedding when budgets go further.

Seventy-five percent of the state’s yearly precipitation comes between October and March, so you’ll want to make sure you choose an indoor wedding venue or weather-proof tenting for an off-season event.
