For some people, a suburban location is a better fit.” She goes on to say, “If many guests live in a suburban area, then driving into the city can actually be more of a hassle than a fun experience. Also, many people’s hometown place of worship is in the suburbs, and to avoid logistics and transportation issues, we will opt for the convenient country club just down the street.”

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton’s Wedding is the Celebrity Celebration We’ve Been Craving

We ended up seeing more than just fireworks this 4th of July weekend. The longtime The Voice couple finally said “I do” over the holiday weekend at Blake’s ranch in Oklahoma inside a chapel specially built for the ceremony. While the wedding was small in size with only close friends and family, it was big on personalized details (and, of course, fashion).

We’re sharing all the show-stopping details from the big, beautiful day.

Details Made it Personal

The Voice judges got married on Saturday, July 3 after an eight-month engagement. The wedding was officiated by fellow The Voice star, Carson Daly. The expert planners from Todd Events proved it’s all in the details at this country wedding.

Sweet First Look & First Dance

Photographer Jeremy Bustos of Studio This Is captured all the unforgettable moments, from Blake seeing Gwen walk down the aisle to the couple cutting the cake together. Blake wrote a song for his wedding vows that left no dry eyes in the church venue.

Rocking a Country Chic Design

Gwen shared the photos of the celebration on Instagram and captioned the pictures, “Dreams do come true!!!” Event design for the reception was concepted and created by TPD Design House, filling the country venue with an abundance of greenery, timeless white florals, and glowing lanterns.

Posh Couture Rentals supplied all of the specialty tabletop pieces for the seated dinner and after-party, adding extra glam.

Honoring Her Past & Their Future

Gwen paid tribute to her loved ones in more ways than one. Fancy Cakes by Lauren replicated Gwen’s parents’ wedding cake. Gwen still found a way to add her own personal touch, stating:  “And I want a cake topper of me and my cowboy.” The full reception catering was done by Art 2 Catering.

Fashionable Moments

Gwen did an outfit change after the ceremony, courtesy of Vera Wang. The reception dress had hand-sewn love birds to symbolize the couple and Gwen’s three children.

Gwen’s veil, also designed by Vera Wang, was custom embroidered with the couple’s names, as well as the names of her three children, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. This wedding was a dream come true for Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.

22 Ways Baby’s Breath is Reinventing Wedding Décor

Baby’s breath wedding flowers are no longer just for filler. That’s right: Baby’s breath is stealing the spotlight at weddings across the country.

Wedding arch, centerpiece, bar area — you name it. Baby’s breath can elevate every element of your wedding décor. Keep reading to discover how some of PartySlate’s favorite wedding planners and florists use baby’s breath to create unique, wow-worthy celebrations.

It’s time to see how this overlooked flower can transform your wedding — regardless of theme, color, or style. We’ve found 22 ways baby’s breath will take your special day to the next level.

Wedding Ceremony Décor

Palm Beach, FL

Clusters of baby’s breath (along with floating candles) beautifully frames a polished-white wedding aisle. Click to see how YSD Events and The Special Event Resource and Design Group also positioned floral-forward arches before and after the aisle for classic (yet lavish) monochromatic symmetry.

New York, NY

A rainbow of baby’s breath awaits this bride as she walks beneath a baby’s breath-laden archway. See how Birch Event Design carries the floral theme over to the reception with a variety of unique centerpieces. We dare you to find a favorite.

New York, NY

A white filigree wedding arbor wound with a garland of baby’s breath adds a unique touch to this romantic lakeside ceremony. Click to see how event planner Sara Landon Events and designer L’Atelier Rouge brought baby’s breath to the wedding reception — but this time, with a pop of color.

Westport, CT

Add splash of color (and modernity) to a baby’s breath-laden arch with a lucite frame and pops of pink blooms. See how event planner Pejy Kash Events and florist Ivie Joy Floral Arts continued to mix classic style with one-of-a-kind details throughout this wedding reception with fresh color combinations. Moreover, make sure to see the paisley-print linen by Nuage Designs.

Wedding Entryways

New York, NY

Who wouldn’t want to stop and linger beneath this stunning baby’s breath arch that transitioned guests from lobby to wedding reception? Florist Konstantinos Floral Design & Décor continued to bring new twists to this age-old flower with baby’s breath centerpieces laden with cascading orchids. Click to see other beautiful tablescape details from this glamorous wedding planned by Elle Audrey. We especially love the globed candlelight.

Houston, TX

A canopy frame covered in baby’s breath — like this one by Gro Designs — will have everyone smiling (including staff). Discover how wedding planner Kiran + Leigh Bespoke Planning made for one photo op after another at this floral-forward wedding. We especially love how a fireplace decked in baby’s breath replaced the more traditional wedding arch.

Wedding Bouquets

Steamboat Springs, CO

Why hold flowers when you can wear them? We could not be more obsessed with these baby’s breath boas by florist Matriarchla. Other unique details from this romantic wedding at Flying Diamond Ranch included conical tenting, lucite seating (in a mountain setting), and baby’s breath centerpieces evoking dreamy clouds. Sigh.

Middleburg, VA

Baby’s breath wedding bouquets by Devers Design Group prove the beauty in simplicity. We adore the laidback (yet elegant) vibe at this rustic country wedding planned by Magnolia Bluebird design & events. After all, who needs a tiered wedding cake when you can cut into your favorite berry pie?

Place Cards & Table Numbers

Houston, TX

Mirrored seated charts not only give the illusion of extra event space — they offer guests the perfect opportunity to take a selfie or two. We especially love how floral designer Blooming Gallery adds towering columns of baby’s breath on each side. See how Kiran + Leigh Bespoke Planning concludes this perfect evening with a cold fireworks send off.

Miami, FL

Event planner Melissa Davis Designs knows how to wow with unique wedding details such as place cards floating on a cloud of a baby’s breath. We are also just as obsessed with the creative lighting that transformed the wedding aisle into a lavish tropical forest — as well as the sweetheart table covered in a cascade of greenery (thanks to Avant Gardens).

Positano, Campania, Italy

A wedding in Positano comes with its own ready-made décor (hello, lush Mediterranean mountains). Of course, that didn’t stop planner Wedding Amalfi from perfecting every little detail at this romantic celebration. We especially love the delicate orbs of baby’s breath wedding flowers by Antonia Flowers that serve as table numbers.

Wedding Bar Areas

Sands Point, NY

We love how Pejy Kash Events reimagined the classic “white tent wedding” with a whimsical pink and blue color scheme. Additionally, Design House Decor took baby’s breath to new heights with a pink and blue floral installation — with the bar area becoming the main focal point of the celebration. Cheers, indeed.

Wedding Ceiling Installations

Charleston, SC

This eclectic and colorful wedding, set at Middleton Place, proves that baby’s breath is the ultimate blank canvas for an extraordinary vision. We love how these one-of-a-kind “hanging plants” by Out Of The Garden complement the colorful tablescapes and lounge area — while taking whimsy to new heights  .

Dublin, County Dublin

A glass orangery-style wedding tent offers perpetual sunset views with these pink clouds of baby’s breath designed by Appassionata. Click to see other breathtaking details from this ultra-romantic wedding planned by Tara Fay Events. We especially love how this garden-style tent was transformed into a dynamic nightclub after sunset.

Wedding Centerpieces

Houston, TX

Royal Luxury Events gives a twist to the modern wedding tablescape with this crescent-shaped baby’s breath garland centerpiece. Of course, that’s not all. Discover how the ceremony also incorporated baby’s breath for a romantic and totally-original backdrop that has us dreaming of fluffy clouds on a serene summer day.

Santa Ana, CA

This “rustic meets boho-chic” wedding at Ebell of Santa Ana wins us over with so many original details — especially this cascading pink baby’s breath centerpiece by Urban Gardener. Make sure to see other unique décor elements such as a boho-wicker lounge area and pink baby’s breath wedding arch.

Los Angeles, CA

Event planner JOWY Productions and floral designer Marks Garden take us to cloud nine with these tall baby’s breath centerpieces and backdrop of twinkling amber lights. Make sure to check out how an uplit canopy with glimmering chandeliers made for epic staging come dance time.

Miami Beach, FL

Everything about this modern wedding at Faena Hotel Miami Beach is pure perfection. We are especially obsessed with these corkscrew baby’s breath centerpieces in shades of pink. See how event planner and designer Guerdy Design brought her unique vision to the wedding ceremony as well with a mirrored wedding chuppah and crown of bright pink blooms and delicate green tendrils.

Boston, MA

Show off baby’s breath with vases in various styles and heights to create a simple (but romantic) aesthetic for your wedding reception dinner. Moreover, discover how event planner Elegant Aura Events LLC. and floral designer Flou(‑e)r Specialty Floral Events teamed up to create unique moments and photo ops. You especially have to see the Champagne wall where vibrant uplighting turned accents of baby’s breath into dramatic blue and violet hues.

Miami, FL

Event planner Forever Events and floral designer Ovando Design and Production prove that anything is possible (including fusing two different styles) with these boho centerpieces on modern tablescapes. Also, trust us, you don’t want to miss the unique ceremony at Pérez Art Museum Miami with a backdrop of shimmering chandeliers set on polished black pedestals.

Port Jervis, NY

Rye Workshop elevates these rustic greenery centerpieces with sweeping tendrils of baby’s breath. We also adore other rustic details from this barn wedding such as a s’more station, flannel blanket party favors, and bench ceremony seating. Make sure to check it out here.

Beverly Hill, CA

Geller Events planned this exquisite white wedding that mixed and matched all different kinds of blooms — from roses and calla lilies to hydrangea and baby’s breath. These elevated baby’s breath centerpieces by Jeff Leatham delight with a crown of baby’s breath complemented by clusters of sleek calla lilies. Also, discover the dazzling ceremonial canopy. It’s true what they say: There’s no such thing as too many flowers.

How Should a Couple Narrow Down Flower Choices for Their Wedding?

There’s an art and science to choosing your wedding flowers. Keep in mind, the florals will be one of the most noticeable (and photographed) décor elements. Now comes the science: Flowers, like everything in nature, have a time and a season. Your wedding date will heavily determine the availability and price of your preferred flowers. Ask your florist and wedding planner for help determining which flower is best for you.

47 Ways to Make Your Micro Wedding Larger Than Life

With the gathering restrictions of 2020 came the rise of micro weddings, a trend we hope is here to stay. A micro wedding is an intimate gathering celebrating a couple’s nuptials. Generally, fewer than 50 friends and family are invited to attend a micro wedding in person.

While small weddings aren’t new, the idea of a micro wedding has increased in popularity over the past year. In fact, an even smaller version, called a “minimony” is satisfying safety protocols with 10 or fewer guests.

Whatever the size, we appreciate the idea of scaling back on guest numbers while maintaining a focus on meaningful moments, beautiful design, thoughtful fare, and memorable entertainment.

In fact, eloquent details that might get lost within large-scale weddings are really highlighted in a micro wedding. Keeping your big day small allows for personalization and an intimate atmosphere for you and your most treasured guests to really connect.

Sara Kovel, of luxury wedding and event design firm Sara Kovel Events, says that by reducing the size of a wedding, “Couples are able to fully immerse themselves in the celebration and get to spend more time with each and every guest, and each other.”

Amy Katz, of the full-service event planning company Amy Katz Events, adds, “It’s not about the size of your wedding, it’s about your friends and family that attended for your love and the intimacy that you and your guests experience on your momentous day.”

So get ready. We’ve combed through the thousands of real weddings on PartySlate to find our favorite micro wedding elements to make your small celebration meaningful and memorable.

Don’t forget to check out The Main Event to hear 4 event professionals give their best advice for couples planning their micro wedding and how to add COVID-19 safety precautions to your wedding.

What is a micro wedding?

Typically, a micro wedding is defined as a wedding having a guest list of no more than 50 people.

Why have a micro wedding?

These intimate celebrations have become increasingly popular among couples ready to tie the knot during COVID-19. Having a micro wedding is a safer way to celebrate while continuing to follow CDC recommendations. Sara Kovel from Sara Kovel Events added that a great perk to a micro wedding is that “it can take place in unique and more personalized, exclusive locations than a large traditional ballroom, such as the restaurant where you had your first date or even your grandmother’s rose garden.”

Where can I have a micro wedding?

During our year of isolation, many people have discovered (or rediscovered) the joy of nature through hikes, walks, and even road trips. After all, there is no better backdrop than the beauty of nature.

Moving your micro wedding outside is a great way to practice social distancing, while not compromising the aesthetic of your day.

You can also ask your venue if they have more intimate spaces available than a ballroom. Many hotels, for example, feature beautiful and intimate spaces that are perfect for a smaller celebration.

Should I hire a photographer for my micro wedding?

We firmly believe that no matter the size of your wedding day, you will want to remember every little detail.

We spoke with top photographer, Duke Khodaverdian of Duke Images, and he said, “Couples may not appreciate in the moment how much they will want to hold onto that day, but will later when they’ve aged and gained perspective. This is a chapter of your life that you should embrace. A photographer stops that moment for and captures it in a meaningful way.”

He continues, “When shooting a more intimate event, the challenge comes in making it even more romantic, artful, and memorable. If you’re shooting in a backyard or courtyard, you need to have an especially artistic eye and exceptional attention to lighting. Different lenses, unique lighting sources, creative poses, and careful composition reflect the amount of planning — as do the final images themselves.

So, consider your choice of photographer carefully — and ask if they have experience shooting more intimate celebrations.

How much do micro weddings cost?

While the price of weddings varies greatly, keeping a guest list smaller may free up your budget to splurge on a wow-worthy entertainment moment or unique personalization for your guests.

What Colors are Best for a Beach Wedding?

Your best beach wedding colors will depend on everything from theme and style to location and season. For example, a modern wedding will differ from a boho-chic celebration — regardless of the sandy stretch of beach.

Of course, not all beaches are the same. A waterfront wedding in Southampton evokes a very different vibe than a tropical beach wedding in Hawaii. Use the local landscape to find inspiration for everything from floral arrangements and greenery to fabrics and vases.

Make sure to ask your wedding planner and design team for help narrowing down your wedding color palette. After all, your wedding colors will tie your wedding celebration together as well as create the backdrop for your cherished wedding photos.
