7 Spring Wedding Colors for a Romantic Wedding

Spring wedding colors evoke new buds, fresh greenery, and pastel landscapes. While there is much to love about spring — like increased sunshine and sweet-scented florals — we especially look forward to the beginning of the wedding season.

Spring weddings, in particular, suggest new and romantic beginnings. As the Earth awakens from its long winter slumber, our hearts yearn to reconnect with loved ones and celebrate.

At spring weddings, you can expect to see plenty of ethereal drapery, delicate greenery, and graceful floral arrangements. You’re also bound to admire a stunning spring wedding color palette.

What Are Good Colors for a Spring Wedding?

Good question. While the other three seasons boast more vibrant and dramatic colors, wedding colors for spring tend to be light, airy, and delicate. Think of whimsical pastels, soft hues, and perfectly-pale tones.

We’ve searched through thousands of weddings on PartySlate to find our six favorite spring wedding colors for a dreamy and romantic wedding celebration.

Imagine airy tenting with cascades of cornflower blue drapery. Or picture a wedding aisle laden with lavender-hued blooms like lilac or wisteria.

Of course, that’s just the beginning. Keep reading to discover how wedding colors can set the stage for spring nuptials. You’ll find daisy-laden tablescapes, pale-green seating arrangements, dusty-rose centerpieces, and so much more.

1. Cornflower Blue Makes Spring Wedding Colors Come True

Blue-hued flowers — like the ornamental cornflower — are few and far between. Lucky for us, we often find this gorgeous shade in spring wedding décor.

Of course, we’re not the only ones in love with cornflower blue. Renowned Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer also favored this dreamy color.  Artists, after all, knows a good color when they see one.

Keep reading to see how one of our favorite spring wedding colors makes an appearance everywhere from tablescapes and floral arrangements to tenting and seating.

5. Fall in Love With a Lavender Spring Wedding Color Palette

Some might hear the word “lavender” and imagine delicious herbs or soothing aromatherapy. At PartySlate, however, we instantly think of spring wedding colors.

No spring is complete without this soft, feminine color setting the scene at weddings across the country. Some of our favorite spring weddings feature a lavender wedding palette in their floral aisle décor and centerpieces.

We’re not through yet. You’ll also find this romantic color everywhere from cuisine to uplighting. Keep reading to discover the perfect way to incorporate lavender into your wedding celebration.

6. Shades of Gray Spring Wedding Color Palette

The color gray may have a reputation for being somewhere in the middle — a compromise between the bolder and more dramatic hues of black and white. But for us, gray is the color of sophistication and elegance.

At PartySlate, gray makes us think of moonlit lakes, lofty mountain tops, and yes — you guessed it — one of our favorite spring wedding colors.

Here, you’ll discover modern gray wedding arbors, stylish seating charts, and lavish linen. After all, there’s something about this cool and balanced color that makes it perfect for a wedding celebration.

What are some vintage wedding theme styles?

Vintage wedding themes vary — with plenty of room for a fresh and creative approach. Click on the following vintage wedding styles to add your own flair to this unique theme.

What kind of entertainment should I include in my vintage wedding?

In addition to a live band or DJ, consider entertainment that will augment your wedding theme. For a 1940s theme wedding, for example, consider dressing the part and performing a first dance foxtrot. On the other hand, a more retro vintage wedding could feature a vinyl record DJ booth. Make sure to talk to your wedding planner to come up with other creative ways to incorporate entertainment into your vintage celebration.

Crate & Barrel and PartySlate Share 5 New Wedding Trends

We know trends can be tricky. Where do you draw the line between a fleeting obsession and an idea you will love forever? When it comes to planning your own wedding, PartySlate.com — a website for people planning weddings and events of all kinds — and Crate & Barrel are here to help.

If you’ve been following PartySlate Event Manager, Kylie’s, wedding planning journey, you know it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing since her engagement in 2020. While Kylie and her fiancé have faced some challenges — from date changes to vendor switches — she had one realization that has been a constant: beautiful wedding trends can also be timeless.

“When I went to create my wedding registry, I realized that I didn’t want my wedding style to exist for just one amazing day,” says Kylie. “I wanted to carry my wedding design through to my home, where it could live forever.”

Some of Kylie’s favorite wedding trends for 2022 that she found on PartySlate were also incorporated into her wedding registry with Crate & Barrel. Keep scrolling to find out what she’s loving now, how she incorporated each trend into her wedding design and registry, and discover how you can marry your own wedding and registry styles.

1. Give Fringe a Second Chance

Forget fringe as you know it. What was a glam fad in the 20s and an earthy trend in the 60s has found new life in 2022. Just a touch of this textural element can add a fun yet elevated feel to your wedding setting — from chargers to decorative tassels, and even tiered chandeliers.

Bring the fun home with registry finds including fringe napkins, table runners, and tablecloths.

2. Spill the Tea After Dinner

We understand the importance of an after-dinner caffeine fix — especially at a dance-all-night wedding. From a variety of flavors to fun toppings and health benefits, it’s no surprise that tea stations are putting coffee on the back burner. There are plenty of ways to take your tea display to the next level, from carts that match your party palette to elevated warming stations

Build your own tea station at home with registry finds including a tea pot warmer, glass mugs, and a handcrafted honey jar

3. Go for the Green Glassware

There’s something so fresh about a touch of green in your tablescape. The color suits all wedding styles and perfectly complements designs that need a little umph in the greenery department (2022 floral shortages are no joke). From romantic shades of emerald to soft shades of sage, green glassware is a sparkling addition to any place setting this year.

Add green glassware to your home collection with registry finds including Old-Fashioned glasses, tapered drinking glasses, and these highball glasses (made from recycled glass).

4. Use More Candles (& Less Table Space)

Over-the-top ceiling installations are losing our focus, as guests begin to look down at gorgeous ground-level candle arrangements — especially around the table. Romantic candlelit dinners are timeless, but often overcrowd your space. Moving pillar candles and hurricanes to the floor creates the same scene-setting flicker — but with more elbow room.

Light up your dining space at home with registry finds including indoor & outdoor pillar candles, glass hurricanes, and ceramic lanterns

5. Make Your Fireplace the Star

There’s something about fiery lighting that can make a setting incredibly romantic. While sunsets aren’t always feasible for a wedding ceremony backdrop, fireplaces are stepping in as a reliable source of warmth. Plus, they offer a unique architectural element if a standard wedding arch isn’t your vibe.

Accessorize your living room mantel with registry finds including metal taper holders, marble links, metal sculptures, and linen taper candles.

Your Boho Wedding Guide, Straight From Our Free-Spirited Editor

I’ve always been partial to unconventional style. Now, after reviewing hundreds of beautiful images of real bohemian weddings on PartySlate, I know exactly how to translate that free-spirited vibe into a beautiful boho wedding. I’m sharing what I’ve learned here.

For example, white pole tents (which feature carnival-like peaks) are totally on trend for bohemian bashes right now. Another fact: nature inspires just about every element of a boho wedding. Think lush ferns and palms, neutral pampas grass, delicate baby’s breath, hearty succulents, and long lengths of driftwood.

I’ve also discovered that an eclectic bohemian sensibility often combines other styles — for a unique celebration that can be all you. In the events below, you’ll find weddings that have been described as: tropical boho, modern boho, bohemian mountain, rustic boho, bohemian desert, boho industrial, boho glam, and more.

The takeaway? If you can dream it, you can create it.

I’m here to help. Share my 16-step checklist with your wedding planner to incorporate your chic, flower-child style into every detail of your boho wedding.

People Also Ask…

What is a “boho wedding”?

First of all, “boho” is a shortened term for “bohemian.” The term evokes a free-spirited mindset, a person at one with nature who follows their own rules. When you apply this thinking to a wedding, it results in a wonderfully unique vision full of natural elements and very personal touches.

Boho weddings tend be outside, full of greenery and flowers, and less rigid décor elements than other wedding styles. For example, a boho wedding reception table will likely feature an eclectic array of design details. Think vintage (perhaps mismatched china) colored stemware, wildflowers, different types of candles, all-natural linen, and lots.

A bohemian wedding lounge area will feature a variety of seating options — from bamboo chairs to leather Moroccan poufs, velvet couches to cozy colorful loveseats. What we most appreciate about boho weddings is the relaxed style which often makes way for a more relaxed, fun-filled celebration full of laughter and love.

How do I start planning my boho wedding?

People Also Ask

What do I wear to a tropical wedding?

Tropical weddings can be formal or more relaxed. For example, a beach elopement will have a different vibe from a tropical-themed ballroom (flowy sundresses and collared shirts vs. tailored gowns and fitted tuxes). Look to the invitation and celebratory setting for guidance.

How do I have a tropical-themed wedding off the beach?

No tropical destination? No problem. You can still have a stunning tropical wedding without a palm tree in sight. Look beyond just wedding ideas to find creative tropical-themed décor and inspiration from birthdays, corporate events, and more. These tropical-theme party ideas bring paradise to you, even in the city. Make sure to work with a wedding planner and design team to create an authentic tropical aesthetic.

Where can I find a venue for my tropical wedding?

Use PartySlate’s curated venue directory to find an available event space in the tropical locale of your choice. Use the filters to narrow your search by guest count, venue type, amenities, and more.

12 Desert Wedding Ideas That are Anything but Sparse

Is there anything more beautiful than a desert wedding? Dramatic mountainscapes, open vistas, and towering cacti form a stunning backdrop to desert nuptials. Even natural lighting is more breathtaking in a desert setting. Hazy morning mirages shift to bold and beautiful sunsets. Bright blue skies end in millions of glittering stars.

Whether you’re hosting a boho desert wedding or more formal affair, you’ll want to plan a celebration that captures the beauty of this magnificent landscape. PartySlate looked through hundreds of real weddings to find our favorite desert wedding ideas. From mirrored arches that render optical illusions to succulent table décor, we know 12 ways to set your celebration apart from the rest.

1. Let the Desert Be Your Focal Point

Boho desert wedding with ceremonial cactus focal point | PartySlate
photographer: Rebecca Skidgel Photography | event coordinator: Simple Means Events | florist: The Floral Theory

Mesa, AZ

With simple wooden benches and a frame of neutral wood cutouts, a towering cactus becomes the dramatic focal point for this desert-chic ceremony. For more boho desert wedding inspiration, see how the bouquets and centerpieces feature the same style of lavish pampas grass.

2. Stun With Optical illusions

Wedding aisle lined with mirrored archways and pampas grass in desert landscape | PartySlate
photographer: Dennis Kwan Photography | planner: Colin Cowie Lifestyle | venue: Amangiri

Canyon Point, UT

With ever-shifting sands and refracting light rays, the desert spins optical illusions at every turn. This stunning outdoor ceremony took its inspiration from the natural landscape. Consecutive mirrored archways reshape the surrounding canyons, while dreamy pampas grass beautifully complements the earth-toned desert.

3. Make the Desert Bloom

Tropical wedding arch against desert backdrop | PartySlate
photographer: Hannah Costello | planner: Nicole Alexandra Events & Designs | floral:Rebelle Fleurs Event Design | venue: Colony 29

Palm Springs, CA

For centuries, civilizations have sought to turn the desert into a welcoming oasis. We love how desert palms create a tropical escape in the midst of endless sands and stark canyons. This wedding arch, in particular, turns this arid landscape into a verdant garden. Make sure to see how the desert wedding bouquet wowed with the same palm leaf details.

4. Paint the Landscape With Color

photographer: Dennis Kwan Photography | planner: Colin Cowie Lifestyle | venue: Amangiri

Canyon Point, UT

Incorporate your wedding color palette into florals, linen, glassware — and even the surrounding landscape. Colorful lighting projections extended this event space far into the desert mesas. Make sure to see how this vibrant color scheme was also incorporated into the moody and dramatic tablescapes.

Your first look will be one of the most memorable moments of your wedding day. It will also be one of the most photographed. Take advantage of your location and stage your first look against a stunning desert backdrop. We love how towering cacti frame this couple for the perfect shot. Make sure to see the lavish floral mandap, as well. We’ve always known flowers and the desert are a match made in heaven.

6. Keep it Cool and Shady

Don’t let the desert sun keep you from enjoying an outdoor ceremony or reception. Umbrellas pair beauty with utility, so guests can enjoy your nuptials in both comfort and style. Make sure to see how this stunning ceremony site appeared from afar — with the Santa Rosa Mountains in the backdrop.

7. Put the Desert in Print

Desert weddings range from elegant and formal to boho-chic. As such, your wedding fashion will depend on the theme and style of your celebration. For a more elevated look, we recommend minimalist satins and lavish, feathery ruffles. Some of our favorite boho wedding attire includes free-flowing gowns and lots of lace

Guests should look to the wedding invitation or website for information on dress code. Once you know the level of formality, you can model your attire accordingly.

Indian Wedding Décor Inspiration for Couples Who Want to Stand Out

India is a multiethnic country with many different religious groups. While these various cultures often feature similar or overlapping wedding traditions, every sub-community has their own unique rituals. Even regions differ in aesthetic. As such, Indian wedding décor is never one-size-fits-all.

PartySlate spoke with Paige Graham, Senior Design Consultant at Yanni Design Studio, to learn more about Indian wedding customs and décor. Graham tells us, “We design weddings for clients from North India to South India and everywhere in between. Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam, and Catholism are the main religions that our clients observe.”

With so many subtle distinctions amongst various communities, it’s paramount to hire a design team fluent in these differences. Graham shares how this makes the process easier for couples. “We are familiar with the terms and understand what décor elements are needed to create these various pre-ceremonies, ceremonies, and receptions. Additionally, we have in-house props that our clients can customize to create these stunning events.”

PartySlate searched through hundreds of real Indian wedding albums to find unique décor elements for couples who want to evoke a specific wedding style — while also standing out from the crowd. Whether you’re having a Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Muslim, or Christian wedding, the right décor will take your celebration to the next level.

What South Asian wedding trends will I see in 2022?

PartySlate asked leading South Asian wedding planners and vendors for insight into upcoming South Asian wedding trends. South Asian couples, like other couples around the globe, must adjust to a changing wedding industry. For the first time, couples are rethinking elaborate multi-day weddings. Micro weddings are becoming increasingly popular. At the same time, supply-chain lags and double vendor bookings now lead to more stand-alone décor items.

Of course, you can still expect the glamor that is synonymous with South Asian weddings. Industry experts expect to see everything from live entertainment to next-level lighting installations.
