Opened: 1941

Chicago, IL

For over seven decades and spanning three generations, Chicago’s oldest steakhouse has been serving delectable dishes to celebrities and locals. Private dining for 10 or more guests is available at both locations (Chicago and Rosemont). The Estate is Gene & Georgetti’s venue designed exclusively for private events and — bonus — it boasts the same cuisine for a memorable party menu. You can be assured that this venue is prepared to meet your celebration needs as award-winning Chicago-based event planner Michelle Durpetti helped in the development of the space. She carries on her grandfather Gene’s legacy by ensuring that the event space provides the same unrivaled hospitality, which means an impressive network of partner relationships and quick response time. The elegant, spacious ballroom easily showcases any aesthetic vision with its neutral palette. We love how the bold red uplighting and snowflake projections at this holiday dinner party pair with interesting, seasonal florals from designer Erin McDonald to reveal the myriad of artistic possibilities of the space.

Chicago, IL

This Michelin-rated restaurant proves that there’s no need to sacrifice delectable cuisine for an exquisite event space. Located in Chicago’s historic Gold Coast neighborhood, La Storia Ristorante brings “the joys of the table” to every meal. Faithfully following the fundamentals of Italian cuisine, La Storia prioritizes the use of local ingredients. Handcrafted pastas are made daily and bloomed with saffron, giving it a unique floral aroma. Housed in a 19th-century brownstone consisting of two townhomes that were merged with seating spread between two floors, La Storia recalls the historic residencies of a bygone era. The Vintage Room showcases the building’s original detailed woodwork with a library of fine wine displayed on ornate built-in cabinets. The Dearborn Room is equally impressive with mirrored walls and crystal-beaded chandeliers. Opened: within 120-year-old Victorian brownstone

Chicago, IL

The Chicago Chop House commemorates Chicago’s vibrant history from the moment you walk through the doors. This 120-year-old Victorian brownstone boasts over 1,400 iconic photos of famous Chicago politicians and gangsters (who were sometimes one in the same in our city’s colorful past!). Out front, you’ll find a 1939 Buick Touring Car with “suicide doors” hinged at the front in a style not found present day. Even the food captures the city’s dynamic culinary past. Steak is cooked to perfection with in-house butchering and the oldest working twin garland broilers in Chicago. From 20-ounce prime ribs to a 48-ounce porterhouse, the portions are as impressive as the quality. The award-winning wine menu includes more than 650 selections, guaranteeing an unforgettable celebratory toast. Surrounded by hunter green walls and in the warm glow of lantern sconces, guests will want to wine and dine all night long.

Opened: within the Gage Group of buildings constructed in the late 1800s

Chicago, IL

It’s no wonder The Gage is one of the most fashionable restaurants along the Chicago Cultural Mile. The Gage takes it name from the historically landmarked Gage Group of Buildings constructed in the late 1800s on South Michigan Avenue, in which the restaurant is located. The buildings originally housed three milliners, including Gage Brothers & Co., who created hats for stylish ladies around the world. Today, The Gage restaurant boasts an installation of original early 20th century theater magazine advertisements for Gage hats. Its rustic American fare and award-winning wine program make this chic Chicago restaurant an ideal setting for any celebration. The built-in LCD projector and screen in the Theodore Ascher Room are perfect for showcasing corporate logos or celebratory slideshows. We especially love how the glass doors in the Edson Keith Room provide privacy while still allowing guests to enjoy the lively vibe of the establishment. The tin ceiling brings the historic grandeur of the early 20th century to this timeless restaurant. We appreciate the theming of this “old Chicago” rehearsal dinner, which included cocktails and décor elements from another century. Opened: within the Reid Murdoch Building built in 1914

Chicago, IL

River Roast Social House dazzles with some of the most dramatic views of the city. Located in the historic Reid Murdoch Building along the Chicago River, this unique event space belongs to the classic “Chicago School” of architecture. The red brick façade, decorative terra-cotta embellishments, and imposing clock tower attest to the building’s impressive legacy. A two-level riverwalk temps guests outdoors to indulge in the city’s scenic riverfront. The six indoor event spaces are equally inviting with exposed brick and elegant industrial ceilings. Best of all, James Beard award-winning chef Tony Mantuano has created a contemporary American menu to complement the prolific selection of local and Midwestern beers. Meats are roasted and carved tableside for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Surrounded by the glittering lights of Chicago’s cityscape, guests will enjoy this one-of-a-kind dining experience — just like party-goers did at this jewel-toned corporate event from planner Patti Monahan. We love the way Kehoe Designs accented the nighttime city view with luxe fuchsia velvet seating and bright pops of florals, lighting, and décor for a chic full-venue buyout that flowed seamlessly in and out of doors.

Chicago, IL

Situated above the Hotel Lincoln, The J Parker is one of Chicago’s hottest restaurants for an exclusive celebration. This stylish rooftop restaurant gets its name from a little-known, yet pivotal figure in American history: Policeman J. Parker. Notorious for his drinking sprees, Parker was assigned to guard President Abraham Lincoln’s theater box on the fateful night of April 14. He stepped outside for a quick drink at a nearby tavern — and, well, the rest is history.

Now, at The J Parker, indulge in spectacular views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. A fully retractable glass roof means the show always goes on, regardless of the weather. The secluded John Wilkes Booth is a perfect space for branding opportunities or a photo spot. A variety of signature cocktails and small bites are available, making this chic rooftop restaurant the ideal setting for a wedding reception or corporate soirée.

Since 1905, the world-famous Walnut Room has been a favorite Chicago landmark. The 17,000-square-foot dining room in the heart of Macy’s department store transports daytime shoppers to a world of regal balls and opulent galas. Austrian chandeliers and Circassian wood paneling evoke the grandeur of a royal residence. The holidays are an especially magical time to host a lavish celebration in the space. The lighted 45-foot Great Tree in the center of the dining room during the season makes for an awe-inspiring backdrop that’s straight out of a fairytale.

Three generations later, Italian Village is home to three distinct restaurants in one spectacular location. The Village is a private dining room set in a 19th-century village, replete with a blue-sky ceiling and twinkling starlight. La Cantina evokes the warmth and coziness of a wine cellar, while Vivere boasts imaginative, dreamlike décor. The swirling architectural lines, stained glass and brass fixtures suggest the theatrical, making the restaurant ideal for creative events.

How to Throw a Celebration Following CDC Guidelines — According to Khloe Kardashian’s 36th-Birthday Party

Let’s be honest, it’s not always easy to keep up with the Kardashians. As their iconic brand continues to grow, and their business ventures bloom, there are plenty of reasons for the famous family to celebrate. This time, it was in honor of Khloe’s 36th birthday — and not even a pandemic could stop the A-list group from partying in true Kardashian (yet pandemic-safe) style. The glammed-up squad hosted an over-the-top celebration planned by Mindy Weiss Party Consultants with luxe décor from Jeff Leatham Studio — while still maintaining safety precautions and following CDC guidelines. And they most definitely did amazing, sweetie.

1. Find a Spacious, Outdoor Venue

The CDC recommends only gathering at spacious venues with limited capacity and well ventilated areas — and what better spot to do so than makeup mogul (and younger sister) Kylie Jenner’s new Holmby Hills mansion? The resort-like home was transformed into a pink party paradise filled front-to-back with matte-balloon trees, over-the-top installations, floating florals, and more.

2. Keep Your Guest List Small

For Khloe, this meant only inviting family and best friends. From the youngest family members — who got to enjoy a pink slip n’ slide decorated with Khloe’s face — to momager Kris Kardashian and honorary family member Scott Disick, every close relative was in attendance for the intimate (but absolutely epic) birthday bash.

3. Have Sanitizer Readily Available

The CDC recommends frequent hand-washing, but also suggests that sanitizer can kill germs when you’re out and about. Guests “out and about” at Khloe’s party grabbed an individual bottle of hand sanitizer on their way into the soirée. The best part? Each bottle was completely on-theme with pink packaging featuring Khloe’s face. Is it just us, or should they start selling these to the public?

4. Masks Are a Must

Don’t forget to mask-up! In addition to hand sanitizers, guests received a Khloe-themed face mask upon entry into the party. Servers also wore pink face masks to ensure careful catering — which just so happened to match their pink aprons and corresponding tops.

5. Small Details Make a Big Impact

Think big, go small. By the looks of it, you would never guess that this over-the-top féte was attended by only a handful of family and friends. The party proved that a single-hued theme doesn’t limit creativity. Everything from florals and party favors to cocktails and cuisine rocked the feminine (and powerful) pink.

6. Individually Plate Your Passed Food

Pink-packaged tenders, heart-shaped plates, blush-cartoned sliders, oh my. It’s clear Khloe knows how to feast — and in the most chic way possible. The individual plating of each passed dish and corresponding condiments kept the event cuisine germ-free — and offered Instagrammable presentations for the social media queen. We don’t know what pink grilled cheese tastes like, but we sure wish we were there to find out.

7. Offer Desserts Not Meant for Sharing

Khloe had her birthday cake — and guests could eat one too. Individual cakes, among a variety of other pretty pink confections, offered the sweetest way to indulge (without the need for sharing). As if her stunning dessert spread wasn’t enough, mobile ice cream carts and on-theme pink popsicles tempted guests of all ages.

8. Pose Together Without Contact

We all know that the CDC recommends we keep a distance of six feet, but any Kardashian-Jenner fan knows that it isn’t a party without the perfect photo op. Enter creativity. Khloe allowed loved ones to get up close and personal with life-size pillows that served as doppelgangers to the star. And just like that, guests no longer had to worry about social distancing for social media.

A Magnifique Paris-Themed Party in 11 Easy Steps, Plus 24 Real French-Inspired Parties We Love

When it comes to beautiful Paris-themed parties, we decided to go to the source and speak to luxury event planner Alejandra Poupel, founder of Alejandra Poupel Events based in Paris. Though she creates beautiful celebrations worldwide, Poupel is especially well-versed in what makes French parties so chic; here she offers advice on conjuring just the right amount of joie de vivre for your own perfectly Paris-themed gathering. “A French celebration always has a certain sophistication as well as elements of fashion,” affirms Poupel.

Then, read on to see real Paris-themed parties we love — from milestone birthdays to weddings and Bat Mitzvah celebrations to bridal showers —  even though they lie far from the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

11 Steps for Planning the Perfect Paris-Themed Party

“Art, culture, fashion, and the French term ‘savoir faire’ are always closely linked in Parisian celebrations. The vibe always includes excellent service and gastronomy,” says Poupel.

1. Pay Attention to the Menu

“The food menu should include foie gras or coq au vin, beef bourguignon, escargot, a buffet of cheeses and baguette breads,” she says, encouraging hosts to serve traditional (and delectable) French cuisine.

2. Sip Like the French

Poupel affirms that you should serve “good wine and great French Champagne for sure.” Don’t ignore detail, like the type of glass. “Champagne is always served here with open champagne glasses — the round circular ones [coupe glasses], not the typical flute,” she says.

3. Don’t Forget Dessert

Poupel suggests a luscious dessert buffet with “macaroon pyramids, chocolate eclairs — and millefeuille is a must.”

4. Include French Icons in Your Décor

“The element that instantly shows it is a Parisian party is, of course, the Eiffel Tower in many forms. It can be a photo-backdrop of flowers, an ice sculpture, or the shape of the dessert in chocolate,” Poupel tells us.

5. Choose an Evocative Color Scheme

“If you’re going for the Moulin Rouge vibe you can have decor in black and red with the famous mill decoration that you see on top of the Moulin Rouge,” Poupel suggests.

6. Incorporate French Words & Quotes

“Neon signs with Bonjour or Cest la fete [it’s a party] are fun,” says Poupel. She also shares an Audrey Hepburn quote that her team frequently uses on napkins: “Paris is always a good idea.” We agree.

7. Represent French Art

Art is at the heart of what makes Paris so special. Poupel suggests infusing art into your celebration by naming tables or signature cocktails after French monuments. She offers the following examples: “Arc de Triomphe, Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Montmartre, Moulin Rouge, Champs-Élysées, Opéra Garnier, and so on.” Or, she says you can evoke French art with artist names like, “Monet, Renoir, Watteau, Fragonard, Caillebotte, Degas, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne, and Rodin.”

8. Amp Up Staff Style

As Poupel affirmed earlier, excellent service is key. Take it to the next level with stylish uniforms for servers. She says, “Waiters should be dressed either in black tie with gloves (as we always serve in events here) or in Marie Antoinette-era outfits.”

9. Marry Form & Function With Great Service

“Service! Service is always a la franchise” at French celebrations says Poupel. “The waiter goes around with a silver platter of the main course and the vegetable sides in the same platter and the guests serve themselves. It’s very different from bringing the plates already decorated and ready to each guest. The advantage is that the guests serve themselves to their taste and quantity tastes.”

10. Offer Le Grand Amusement

Poupel says that when it comes to entertainment, “We often have the bands play music by Edith Piaf (La Vie en rose, Non, Je ne regrette rien), Serge Gainsbourg (La Javanaise, Je T’aime,…Moi Non Plus), Charle Aznavour (Emmenez-moi, La bohème), and Jacques Brel (La Valse à mille temps, Ne me quitte pas).”

She also suggests can-can dancers and notes that “Lido dancers are a regular at our events.” Parisian-themed events can be upbeat and fun with Poupel’s additional entertainment ideas of mimes and caricature artists creating face silhouettes. She adds, “If you go with a Moulin Rouge-style event, consider that type of cabaret entertainment.” You can even have a fashion show as a focal point since, as Poupel asserts, “Paris is fashion.”

11. Send Guests Home Happy

Conjure contentedness with Poupel’s suggestions of French perfumes or macaroons in trés-chic take-home bags.

7 Steps to Hosting a Virtual Dinner Party With All the Fun and None of the Cleanup

Nothing can stop a festive dinner party — not even a global pandemic. While COVID-19 has put many in-person events on hold, virtual event technology has made it possible to gather with friends, family, coworkers, and peers from afar. David Tutera of David Tutera Planning and Design has been hosting chic virtual dinner parties since shelter-in-place orders started. He says, “Any moment we can see one another, smile, laugh, and celebrate is worth a thousand words. A virtual dinner party may seem awkward, but the reality is it allows us to connect and see one another and have some fun.”

While we are all looking forward sitting across the table from our family and friends, there are some clear silver linings to going virtual. Loved ones who may otherwise miss out on an in-person dinner party — they may live across the country or the world — can now join in on the festivities. A virtual dinner party also allows you to be incredibly inclusive, as space on a Zoom call isn’t quite as limited as the number of chairs that can fit around your dining room table.

Dinner party hosts and event professionals alike are taking on the challenge of making Zoom interactions feel just as special and personal as live events. When hosting a virtual dinner party, you can make it as simple or over-the-top as you would like, but the most important thing is to make it feel personal. We have outlined 7 simple steps to hosting a fabulous virtual dinner party that will make the evening a memorable one for everyone involved. Tutera says, “A virtual dinner and seeing your friends and family is always worth logging on.”

1. Choose a virtual dinner party platform

The very first step to hosting a virtual dinner party is selecting a technology platform that will allow you to go virtual. There are an overwhelming number of virtual event platforms available, with what seems like more emerging every day, but Zoom is an easy choice.

You can easily host a 40-minute cocktail hour using the free version of Zoom, or upgrade to a business account for unlimited time with your guests. Whether you’re hosting 5 or 50 guests, the platform makes it easy to send an invitation link, track RSVPs, and host from any electronic device.

2. Set the tone with a virtual dinner party theme

Trendy ombré, tropical garden, Moroccan summer, Southern charmPartySlate features inspiring in-person dinner party themes that can easily translate to your next virtual event. From the cuisine you and your guests enjoy to the favors or entertainment you incorporate, a well-chosen theme can beautifully influence any type of event, especially a dinner party.

Explore dinner parties featured on PartySlate to find a theme and other unique ideas for your virtual dinner party celebration.

Garden-Inspired Dinner Party

3. Select a stunning Zoom background image

PartySlate created 31 beautiful Zoom backgrounds for any type of virtual event — including virtual dinner parties — using images from our platform. Get lost in the New York City skyline at 620 Loft and Garden, or transport your virtual dinner party guests to the beaches of South Florida at the 1 Hotel South Beach. Zoom background images can help set the tone — and the scene — of your virtual dinner party.

Select one Zoom background for all of your guests to use for a cohesive look, or encourage each guest to choose their own Zoom background to use during the party. If you’re not sure which Zoom background to use, allow your virtual dinner party theme to guide your selection.

4. Send invitations for your virtual dinner party

Yes, Zoom populates a simple-to-use RSVP link when you create your virtual dinner party invitation. But, we recommend taking your virtual dinner party invitations one step further by popping that link into a custom design. Find an invitation company that will create a custom digital invitation design that fits your theme.

You can also mail custom paper invitations — even paper menus, too — and request RSVPs separate from a Zoom link. This adds an extra-special element to your virtual dinner party. Just be sure to ask guests for their emails when they RSVP; that way, you can simply email the Zoom link to guests ahead of your virtual dinner party.

5. Arrange for catering and cocktail deliveries

While some virtual dinner parties encourage guests to all cook the same recipe from their own homes, we love the idea of delivered meals from local catering companies. That way, everyone at your virtual dinner party can sit back, relax, and enjoy the same delicious food from a menu designed by you. Work with a caterer to hand-select menu items that are not only delicious, but will also travel well to ensure they arrive prepped and easy to serve.

And don’t forget the cocktails. Since the pandemic began, catering companies and craft cocktail brands have released festive cocktail kits that are perfect for a virtual dinner party. A craft cocktail kit can even double as an activity: send the cocktail kits in advance, then ask all guests to assemble their cocktails together on Zoom.

Not sure where to start? We compiled lists of Los Angeles caterers and New York caterers offering at-home meals that are ideal for delivery, or you can explore our full directory of caterers to find an option perfect for your virtual dinner party.

6. Incorporate creative entertainment or activities

While we love the idea of cocktail kits and guests arranging their drinks together on Zoom, we also recognize that this isn’t the ideal activity for every dinner party. Virtual event games continue to increase in popularity, but in addition, we love the idea of a custom virtual dinner party playlist. You can even hire a DJ or band to provide virtual entertainment for your guests after your meal.

The best part? Because your dinner party is virtual, you can hire a DJ or band from anywhere across the country and the world. Start your search by browsing our list of 12 top DJs and bands, who each contributed to 19 incredible party playlists that are perfect for a virtual dinner party.

7. Don’t forget to send favors in advance

Gifting is a personal and thoughtful way to bring your virtual dinner party guests together. Sending virtual party favors to your guests in advance will allow you to emphasize the theme, while also giving each guest a memorable keepsake.

10 Tropical-Theme Party Ideas for a Celebration in Paradise

Imagine a sandy beach, a sky full of starlight, and your closest friends sharing a meal under a canopy of palms. While it’s not always possible to fly to a tropical destination, we can still bring the tropics to our milestone events — even if they’re inside or in our backyard. Whether you’re hosting a Bar Mitzvah celebration in Chicago or an intimate dinner party in New York City, the right tropical décor and cuisine can instantly transport your guests to a land of deep-blue seas and verdant greenery. These 10 tropical-theme party ideas prove that location is a state of mind — and that celebrations always take place in paradise.

Pops of Pink with Pineapple Perks

Palm Beach, FL

Beach driftwood, monstera leaves, and golden pineapples make for spectacular tabletop décor. The addition of tropical-leaf linen — not to mention pops of pink blooms and verdant votives — keep our eyes on the table. Although with such breathtaking views, we understand the temptation to look at the horizon.

Listen Now, Celebrate Soon: 19 Party Playlists From Top Bands & DJs

Top entertainment companies know that putting on an unforgettable show is just as much art as science. In addition to creating the perfect pacing and flow, our favorite performers know that last minute changes and on-the-spot inspiration is necessary for conjuring the right vibe. They also know which songs are guaranteed to get guests (and yes, even the wallflowers) in the celebratory spirit.

So much goes into selecting the musical roster for any event type. As Kareem “K.W.O.E.” Wells of Flow Entertainment, Inc. tells us, songs should be based on the guest of honor’s likes and dislikes, the vibe of the room, and requests made during the event. “Most importantly,” he tells us, “you were hired because they like what you as a company bring to the table, so they are expecting you to do your very best, and in order to do that, you must follow those three things to be successful in your purpose.”

Dave Calzaretta of Magnificent Events, Ltd. and Maggie Speaks reveals just how much thought goes into choosing the perfect song. The first dance song, for example, “Is typically something very personal to the couple, so while it is hard to pin one down, I often recommend ‘You Are The Best Thing’ by Ray La Montagne because it is modern and hip, but has an old school feel with a nice horn arrangement. It makes it relevant for the younger people but comfortable stylistically for the older generation as well.”

Although events may be postponed, they still loom large on the horizon. As we shelter in place, we are using this time to find inspiration and plan our future celebrations (which will be all the more meaningful once we are reunited with friends and family). So sit back and listen to this Spotify list — inspired by some of our favorite entertainment companies — from the comfort of your couch. It’s time to start dreaming of hitting the dance floor.

How to Choose Your Wedding or Event Venue Without Ever Leaving Your Couch

There’s no doubt that shelter-in-place orders and social distancing protocols have made it more challenging to plan weddings and events. But, like so much else during this global pandemic, the planning must go on. Life’s milestones won’t stop — and neither will the accompanying celebrations.

When starting the wedding or event planning process, many people start by choosing their venue. And while venues aren’t currently hosting large events, they are still offering event dates, providing guidance, and booking celebrations for the future.

Luckily, you don’t actually have to see venues in person to make an informed decision. PartySlate provides a social distancing-approved approach to selecting your venue, thanks to unique platform features and interactive technology.

Selecting a venue that’s right for your event can be overwhelming, whether you visit options in person or browse virtually from home. This 5-step guide will help you narrow in on venues and event spaces that are right for your individual celebration. Even when social distancing comes to an end, you can use this list — and PartySlate tools and features — to whittle your list and select venues for all of your future celebrations.

1. Narrow down your venue options

Search by location with the interactive map

If you want a venue in a specific neighborhood — for example, a venue that is walking distance from your hotel block or a venue that’s a short commute to the airport for your out-of-town guests — the interactive map within the directory allows you to quickly populate venues in a certain location.

Enter your target guest count

Your expected number of attendees can often dictate which venues are right — or will work at all — for your event. Entering your guest count range helps you narrow down your options, while populating venues and event spaces that can accommodate a wide range of capacities.

Filter by specific venue type

Some newly-engaged couples dream of getting married on a rooftop terrace, while many corporate planners turn to hotel ballrooms or museum event spaces to accommodate large groups. No matter what type of venue you’re looking for, you can select the types you are interested in to further narrow down the directory results.

The venue search page on PartySlate

For example, utilize all three methods above to find a venue in Midtown in New York. You can easily filter for a rooftop/terrace/outdoor event space for 150-200 guests, which will yield a list that includes featured venues SECOND., 620 Loft & Garden, The High Line, and more venues to explore.

2. Select your required venue features and amenities

Discover venues with specific amenities

Which amenities are most important for your event? While you are still in the directory, choose from the long list of amenities to narrow down your search even more. For corporate events, breakout room availability and A/V capabilities might be the most important amenities, while valet parking and handicap accessibility may top the list for a wedding.

How to consider flexible catering and bar options on PartySlate.com

Consider flexible catering and bar options

Many venues require the use of their in-house caterer or will urge you to select from their list of preferred caterers, but we understand that many people want flexibility and creativity when hosting a wedding or event. Discover which venues allow off-site caterers, BYOB for your bar, and more.

Venue directory on PartySlate.com

For example, searching in Los Angeles for a venue that has top-notch A/V capabilities and breakout rooms, as well as allows off-site caterers to provide meeting or event fare, returns results including featured venues City Market Social House, Candela La Brea, LA River Studios, and more venues to consider.

3. Save your favorite venues to track your short list

Create a virtual shortlist of venues

Once you narrow down your venue list through the directory, make sure you save them to an Idea Slate to keep track of your favorites. Simply click the heart icon to add a venue to your shortlist. You can even add notes of specific features you love or ideas you want to remember for future planning.

Once your shortlist is complete and your notes have been added, simply copy and paste the Idea Slate link to share with your parents, siblings, or friends to get their thoughts and feedback. If you are working with an event planner, this is an easy, fast, and most visual way to collaborate.

For example, this birthday party venue idea slate includes featured Chicago spots that have a dance floor, including The Roanoke, Revel Fulton Market, Revel Motor Row, and more. It joins slates we’ve created on rainbow-themed events, pool party inspiration, and so on.

4. Tour your favorite venues with help from photos and videos

See photos of each event space

See photos of each event space

Venues not only list each of their event spaces, but they also include multiple photos of each event space, as well as the seated and standing capacities. Viewing photos of empty event spaces — from ballrooms to bars — allows you to see every feature that makes a space unique.

For example, Brooklyn’s Wythe Hotel has 7 spaces with multiple images of each.

Browse photos of real events in your venue

Browse photos of real events in your venue

If you find it difficult to browse empty event space photos and envision your own celebration coming to life, not to worry: you can also see real event photos from past celebrations that were hosted in that venue. Stunning décor shots, lighting and draping enhancements, dance floor placement, and smiling guest photos that were all shot in that venue can inspire your own celebration.

For example, Perez Art Museum Miami has 18 posted events — ranging from weddings and galas to Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and corporate events.

5. Contact venues directly through PartySlate

Confirm pricing and availability, then book through the platform

Confirm pricing and availability, then book through the platform

Your shortlist has been created, you shared it with your event team, and you even took a few virtual venue tours. Now it’s time to contact each venue to receive pricing, date availability, and book your event. It’s easy to message each venue directly through the PartySlate platform, either straight from the directory as you are browsing, or once you click through to an individual profile page. For your convenience, the venue’s response will go straight to your email inbox.

For example, this message to The Schoolhouse venue in Dallas will ask for helpful information including event type, size, and preferred date.

Bonus: Build the rest of your event professional team

See who has worked at your venue

See who has worked at your venue

So you have selected a venue. Now what? As you think about hiring the rest of your event team, you may want to consider who already has experience working at your venue. From event planners who know the ins and outs of the event spaces, to photographers who know all the best backgrounds for the perfect shots, you can start the search for the rest of your event team by considering who has worked at your venue in the past.

For example, 41 event professionals have worked at Hilton Chicago — including event planners, design/décor/floral companies, photographers, and more. Having already worked at the venue, the listed event teams will have an in-depth knowledge of the space.
