As a child, I spent hours crouched over a Candy Land board game. Otherwise dull afternoons became a race through the magical worlds of Candy Cane Forests and a Gumdrop Mountain — in the hopes of freeing King Candy from the villainous Lord Licorice. With so many generations raised on this iconic game, a Candy Land theme party is perfect for kids and adults alike. Even Kim and Kourtney Kardashian love this creative party theme and hosted a Candy Land-themed birthday party for their little girls.
We’ve searched through corporate events, birthday parties, and other milestones on PartySlate to find our favorite Candy Land theme party ideas. From decadent desserts to colorful decorations that recreate this sugar-sweetened landscape, here are 13 ways to make your celebration a confectioner’s dream — with help from some of the top party vendors in the industry, of course.
1. Candy Land Theme Map
Map out your venue with a winding track of colorful spaces — just like the iconic Candy Land board game. This way, guests will be sure to visit every catering and activity station (and enjoy the party in full).
Whether your seating is a throne fit for Queen Frostine or round back chairs covered in candy illustrations, guests will love dining in sugar-high style.
Turn your meal into an Instagrammable moment — regardless of what’s on the menu. Candy-themed centerpieces will keep even the little ones in their chairs, so the adults can happily linger over that last cup of coffee.
Waiting in line for a drink just became a lot more interesting.. Candy Land-themed bar areas become the center of the celebration with the aid of floating cotton candy installations and sugar-stacked shelving.

From Mr. Mint’s Candy Cane Forest to the Lord Licorice Castle, the world of Candy Land is filled with imaginative landscapes and architecture. Let this enchanting world inspire your catering stations for a food-forward fête that goes far beyond just candy.
A Candy Land party theme isn’t complete without — you guessed it — candy. Evoke the rainbow track leading through Candy Land with rainbow-colored sweets. With candy stations this stunning, we’d be happy to get stuck in Molasses Swamp for a few more roles of the dice.
Turn each layer of your party cake into a spot on the Candy Land map. Candy Cane Forest, Gumdrop Mountain, and Grandma Nutt’s peanut brittle house are just a few of our favorite places to indulge in a sweet treat.
Think beyond the band when it comes to entertainment. A Queen Frostine-themed oxygen booth is a perfect way to take a unique activity and make it part of this whimsical candy world. Other immersive entertainment ideas include acrobats, fortune tellers, live event painters, and more.
A Candy Land party theme isn’t complete without the one-of-a-kind characters you’ll find from start to finish. Cue the likes of Queen Frostine, King Kandy, and other lovable characters with Candy Land party outfits. Trust us, your photographer will thank you.
A Candy Land party is bound to have lots of delicious treats. Give guests the opportunity to bring their favorite sweets home with them in a custom-made swag bag.

Last year Pantone wowed us with two colors of the year for 2021, as if they (like us) had no idea what the new year might hold. They introduced a steadfast gray and a cheery yellow, meeting our dual needs for stability and hope. Now, the trend-setting brand has released their Pantone “Color of the Year” for 2022: Very Peri.
Very Peri is a glorious periwinkle-inspired mix of deep blue and vibrant purple, lighter than either color alone. It’s a moody hue. It reminds us of the color of the sky right after a soul-shaking storm has passed, when the thunder and lighting have died down but you’re not sure if it’s safe to go outside yet.
If colors tell a story, then the tale being told by Very Peri might be that there’s beauty even in the storm. Where else would you see Mother Nature put on such a show? Very Peri gathers us close and tells us that the worst is over and the sun is about to come out.

From Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s rustic ranch wedding to Paris Hilton’s three-day fairytale wedding celebration, we truly saw it all this year.
We narrowed our list down to share our 12 favorite celebrity parties and weddings from 2021 — plus, every jaw-dropping detail. Read on to see if your favorite made our list.
(In chronological order)
1. Ariana Grande & Dalton Gomez’s At-Home Wedding
photographer: Stefan Kohli
May 15, 2021
There were no tears left to cry after pop singer Ariana Grande and real estate agent Dalton Gomez secretly tied the knot at her home in Montecito, CA in mid-May. After a little over a year of dating the two opted in for a micro wedding with fewer than 20 guests at Grande’s home. The ceremony was informal and said to be more of an exchanging of vows surrounded by hundreds of white florals as décor. Grande wore a custom lily white Vera Wang gown with an open back that was stunning. This at-home wedding had to make the list this year as one of our favorites.
2. Psalm West’s Construction-Themed Birthday Party

May 20, 2021
No one throws an over-the-top party like Kim Kardashian West, so it was no surprise when she turned an ordinary construction theme into a trending kids party theme. The party took place in the backyard of the reality star’s Hidden Hills home. There was a real digger, a bounce house, giant sand pits, and of course the perfect construction uniforms for all the little guests. Oh how we love the creativity of a Kardashian celebration.

The long-time Voice couple, Gwen and Blake, set off more than just fireworks on the Fourth of July weekend. The couple exchanged vows at Blake’s ranch in Oklahoma in a chapel custom-built for the ceremony. The wedding was small in size with 40 of their closest friends and family, but was large in personal details. Photographer Jeremy Bustos of Studio This Is captured every moment of the celebration from Gwen’s walk down the aisle to the couple cutting their wedding cake (that was a replica of Gwen’s parents’ wedding cake). Todd Events planned the whole celebration and TPD Design House brought the celebrity couple’s vision to life with an abundance of greenery, timeless white florals, and glowing lanterns.

Steph Curry continues to set the bar high for men everywhere. On July 30th, he surprised his wife Ayesha with a backyard vow renewal ceremony to reaffirm the promises they made to each other 10 years ago. Thinking it was going to be a normal anniversary celebration, Ayesha came home to find a wedding dress picked out by Steph and a backyard ceremony waiting. It was an intimate ceremony planned by Alicia K Designs, for just the couple and their children. Their younger children, Ryan and Cannon, walked their mom through the grass of their backyard to the altar of flowers. Meanwhile, their oldest child, Riley, officiated the sweet backyard ceremony.
5. Lily Collins & Charlie McDowell’s Enchanted Forest Wedding
photographer: CEDAR & PINES | planner & design: Heirlooms Design | venue: Dunton Hot Springs | entertainment: Birds of Play
September 4, 2021
Fairytales do come true — just ask Lily Collins and her husband Charlie McDowell. The two tied the knot in Dunton Springs, CO on September 4th, 2021. She made all of us want to get married in the middle of the forest. The couple rented out a wooded resort with a picture-perfect backdrop of the San Juan Mountains and mineral hot springs. The wedding was a more intimate affair with less than 40 guests. Heirlooms Designs made their vision of rustic elegance come to life with hand picked flowers and vintage décor.
The second annual Poolside with Poosh did not disappoint. This year, the team decided to opt in for a more intimate event with a spa day. A smaller guest list ensured that every guest was able to feel completely pampered and get the individual treatment they deserved. Sharon Sacks, founder of Sacks Productions and event designer, Leigh Carter helped bring Kourtney’s vision to life. Upon arrival, guests were able to pick out custom spa treatments for the day and place their intentions for the day on the “intention tree”. Throughout the event, guests wore robes from Slip Silk and personalized eye masks, scrunchies and glam bands. This corporate event was one we wish we were on the list for (maybe next year).
On October 16, 2021 Jennifer Gates, daughter of Bill and Melinda Gates, tied the knot with equestrian and Olympic athlete Nayel Nassar. The couple bonded over their love of riding, so it only made sense that their wedding, planned by Marcy Blum Associates, was held at an equestrian farm in Westchester County, NY. Allan Zepeda Photography captured every detail of the celebration including the extravagant floral arrangements done by HMR Designs. For the reception, the couples chose a tented wedding and had their first dance to Yellow Lights by Harry Styles while literally dancing under yellow lights. This extravagant affair was one of our favorite celebrity celebrations of the year.
8. Sarah Levy & Graham Outerbridge’s Intimate Wedding
photographer: The Shalom Imaginative | venue: Sunset Tower Hotel
October 16, 2021
The Schitt’s Creek Star Sarah Levy secretly tied the knot with actor and producer Graham Outerbridge on October 16th, 2021. After dating for a little over three years, but never officially announcing their engagement, the two got married at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood with close friends and family. The gorgeous bride wore a stunning strapless, white silk midi dress with a bow on the back. Levy continues to keep details of the ceremony and reception a secret, besides a few taser photos, but this surprise wedding was still a must-add.
The engagement that took over our Instagrams. Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker proposed to reality star Kourtney Kardashian with the most dreamy red rose set up in Montecito, CA. The couple, also known as “Kravis,” started dating in December of 2020 and has flooded our social media with their undeniable love ever since. Barker proposed at sunset with a show-stopping display of red roses. After the proposal, the two enjoyed a private dinner with close friends and family. Kravis both commented “forever” on each other’s Instagram and this is a wedding we will be impatiently awaiting.
Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young and Flip or Flop host Tarek El Moussa solidified their love after a 14 month long engagement in Montecito, CA with 150 of their friends and family. Duke Images was there to capture every stunning detail of the day. The ceremony took place outside at the Seaside Hotel with a 100 foot-long, glossy black aisle that was lined with a mix of all-white roses, orchids, tulips, lisianthus and hydrangeas. They had a large floral arch at the beginning of the aisle and three arches intertwined at the altar. Tarek had an extra surprise after the couple said “I Do”, he had an airplane spell out “To my wife, always and forever” with environmentally safe smoke. We look forward to seeing more behind-the-scenes details in the upcoming season of Selling Sunset.
Pakistan activist and youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Malala Yousafzai, married asser Mailk, a manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The two wed on a Tuesday, a little over nine years after she was shot in the head as a teenager by the Taliban. The two had a traditional Nikkah ceremony at her home in Birmingham, England with only their families. Yousafzai is one of the world’s most famous advocates for girl’s education and continues to inspire women everywhere. She is choosing to keep the details of her day more private, but we know she chose fall colors for her floral and opted in for a pink wedding dress.
12. Paris Hilton & Carter Reum’s Three Day Fairytale Wedding
photographer: German Larkin; Jose Villa Photography | event planner: Mindy Weiss Party Consultants | floral: Marks Garden | invitations: Lehr and Black | wedding cake: Joanie and Leigh’s Cakes
November 11, 2021
Paris Hilton had the wedding of the year and we expected nothing less. Hotel Heiress and Socialite Paris Hilton married author, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist Carter Reum during a three day long celebration at Hilton’s late grandfather Barron’s estate in Bel Air. Hilton was set on solidifying their love on November 11th, to have the date be 11.11, she walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
The affair boasted celebrity guests, a large dinner menu, and, of course, multiple dress changes. Demi Lovato performed a rendition of “I Will Always Love You” at the reception and received a standing ovation. The couple continued with a three-day-long celebration and it was definitely the socialite celebration of the year.
If you have an Instagram account, chances are you follow an influencer or two (or ten). From athletes to bloggers and reality TV stars, influencers come with all different backgrounds, hobbies, and skill sets. The one thing they do have in common? Their ability to quite literally influence our decisions. From what brands to buy from, to how to decorate our homes, it’s hard to ignore the power that influencers have obtained through the rise of social media.
As avid Instagram users (as we imagine you are too), the PartySlate team took note of some of our favorite influencer events from 2021. The list includes weddings, product launches, baby showers, kids’ birthday parties, and more — and yes, they’re going to influence your next party. Whether you want to contact their vendors, discover new ideas from their party schemes, or simply indulge in the details, this list is a can’t-miss in the era of the influencer.
*In no particular order…
1. Caila Quinn & Nick Burrello’s Wedding
photo courtesy of Caila Quinn’s Instagram | photographer: Stephanie Sunderland | planner: NK Productions | floral: Bastille Flowers & Events | venue: John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art
You may know Caila Quinn from her time on Ben Higgins’ season of The Bachelor, or maybe from her half a million Instagram followers — regardless, there’s no denying the social media influence of her 2021 wedding.
Caila and her fiancé Nick brought their dream of a European celebration to the states. Their glistening, oceanfront ceremony was framed by a muted blush and orange rose altar, with a stone-patterned aisle whisking guests to the Mediterranean. The couple ensured Caila’s Filipino culture was honored with a traditional cord and veil ceremony, which took place before their highly anticipated “I dos.”
As the host of E News’ The Rundown, it’s safe to say that Erin Lim has not only become our go-to source for pop culture, but she has become a pop culture influencer in her own right. A few months after hosting a micro wedding in her parent’s backyard, Erin and Joshua announced they were expecting.
The fun-loving newlywed’s baby shower was everything we expected it to be (and more). Plush white clouds were suspended across the backyard, along with daisy-filled balloon installations, butterfly-adorned murals, and a rubber duck-filled pool.
Like many couples on this list, Olivia Rink and her now-husband Conner Hempel’s original wedding plans were thrown for a loop when COVID-19 entered the picture. After a postponement and city change, the duo said “I do” in Olivia’s hometown of South Bend, Indiana.
The couple used their joint love for Frank Sinatra and Gatsby-era glam as inspiration while planning the ballroom wedding of their dreams. A glossy wood dance floor, elegant overhead chandelier, luxe gold table details, and candle-lined centerpieces were just a few of their transformative reception details.

The Bachelor’s Ben Higgins may have an ex on this list; but as far as we’re concerned, it’s been Jessica Clarke and him from the start. The duo doesn’t shy away from sharing their love for each other on Instagram — and after planning their wedding for two years, the build up only got greater.
Ben and Jess exchanged vows on a brisk fall day in Nashville. Their Southern celebration included a Bourbon bar, milk and cookie station, and a pontoon boat exit. Of all the noteworthy elements, the newlyweds gushed over their wedding planner and wedding band on Instagram, saying they made all of their party dreams come true.
The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise breakout star Hannah Godwin took on a new business venture, leveraging her own Instagram skills. Hannah launched a photo filtering and editing app in October, and the launch party itself is what got it on our radar.
The al fresco dinner party was posted all over social media — and for good reason. Guests entered a Los Angeles courtyard to find branded cocktails, a pampas grass photo op, and Setty app-inspired menus. The Bachelor Nation-filled guest list didn’t hurt the event’s exposure, either.
Despite Derek Fisher’s impressive NBA career, and current WNBA coaching status, his now wife Gloria Govan is the bigger Instagram influencer in the marriage. Between the two of them, their half a million Instagram followers were treated to several details from their West Coast wedding day.
The couple exchanged vows between a trendy asymmetrical floral arch, with sweeping Malibu mountain views as the backdrop. Gloria’s white orchid bouquet perfectly complemented the midsummer ceremony’s crisp white roses and soft greenery.
Emily Herren, better known to her Instagram following as Champagne and Chanel, is Instagram royalty — and her extravagant Southern wedding proved it. Followers eagerly awaited photos from her wedding, and no one was disappointed (according to the thousands of comments on her first-released wedding photo).
The October wedding was filled with glam details, from a cascading floral arch entryway to the ceremony’s ethereal floral trees. The clear tented reception was illuminated by an array of chandeliers, rows of strung lights, and scattered candle votives. Emily and Travis couldn’t forget their four-legged family members, posing with their beloved dogs for the ultimate Instagram-worthy moment.
40 never looked so good, thanks to The Stripe blogger Grace Atwood. Grace treated her followers to two carousels of Instagram photos from her intimate birthday party — and there was nothing small about it.
The party’s 1920s theme was perfectly evoked by the restaurant venue’s checkered floors and moody walls. Satin black table linen, mulberry velvet seats, white orchids, and Champagne glass towers lined the dinner table. Guests showed up in true Gatsby style, with feather boas, top hats, and enough sequins to take you back in time.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards needs no introduction. Her daughter Portia’s circus-inspired Bat Mitzvah took the popular theme and made it completely original. The evening included fire-breathing bartenders (yes, you read that right), a rainbow Ferris wheel, and plenty of performances throughout.
Now let’s talk décor. From the custom entryway to the chic circus tent, there was an element to marvel over at every turn. The party kept things luxurious yet youthful with gold balloon installations and a checkered dance floor. Deep red lighting grazed every inch of the reality star’s backyard, transporting guests out of Beverly Hills and into a scene from The Greatest Showman.
Model, actress, and influencer Molly Sims celebrated 10 years of marriage on a beautiful September evening. Her family dressed to the nines for the al fresco dinner party, and we love how the couple kept it classic with a personalized edge.
The setting was the perfect combination of boho and glam. Woven chandeliers intertwined with strung globe lights, which were suspended in rows above sleek wooden tables. Simple floral arrangements mingled with hundreds of candles to illuminate the dining space, while lounge areas were accessorized by cozy throw blankets (ensuring guest comfort all night long).
Madi Prew may not have found love on The Bachelor, but she certainly found a close group of friends to celebrate life’s milestones with her. Her joint 25th-birthday lunch was an influencer’s dream, with photo ops at every turn (and natural light you can’t get at a birthday dinner).
The dreamy yet intimate picnic was backed by oversized marquee signage and chic balloon arrangements made of soft yellows and earthy neutrals. A blush table runner, feminine florals, and of course, an epic charcuterie board topped off the aesthetically pleasing party.
If you’re reading this article you’re probably familiar with Arielle Charnas, who leveraged her 1.3 million Instagram followers to launch the clothing brand Something Navy. As a business woman and creative thinker, it’s no surprise that Something Navy’s October clothing launch made the list.
The “Something Cozy” luncheon featured branded coffee cups, a blanket for each guest on par with the collection’s style, and a mulled wine station (what could be cozier?). The rustic setting was decorated with mini pumpkins, pampas grass, and rustic centerpieces to set the fall scene.
photographer: Sarah Sayeed Photography | design, décor & floral: Birch Event Design | venue: June Farms
Sand Lake, NY
From the single-stemmed roses that lined their ceremony aisle, to the thousands of mini string lights that hovered over their reception, influencers Taylor Phillips and Jeff O’Donnell did the impossible and made the woods glam.
The day’s Instagrammable moments included the grooms’ dog strutting down their outdoor aisle and a petal-strewn ceremony exit. At the reception, a black and white patterned dance floor perfectly complemented the baby’s breath centerpieces and modern black candelabras. All that to say this enchanted forest wedding day had our team swooning from the moment we laid eyes on it.
Cella Jane has won over her followers’ hearts with relatable content, helpful guides, and of course, creative inspiration. She celebrated her son’s 1st birthday with a “puppy pawty” theme — and we can’t think of a cuter combination.
The at-home event included a dog house-inspired high chair, chic balloon installations, and a water bowl-inspired cake. For the adults in attendance, an over-the-top grazing board was filled with meats and cheeses to indulge in, as guests snapped photos for their own Instagram followers.
Los Angeles-based influencers Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Ireland are no strangers to making a statement. Their company, Summer Fridays, has become a well-known name in the beauty industry. With recyclable packaging, cruelty-free testing, and vegan ingredients, what’s not to love?
The duo launched Summer Fridays’ new lip balms: Vegan Vanilla and Vanilla Beige, with a soft serve ice cream truck. The branded truck was adorned by florals in their company colors, and the creative marketing efforts had customers posing in front of (and posting) the pop up all day long.
With nearly one million Instagram followers, Mary Lawless Lee decided to use her platform to create a brand she felt was important for women. Her vegan and natural skincare line nēmah was created for expecting mothers, with the tagline: Made by Moms, Tested by Moms.
The launch of her brand, a celebration two years in the making, was filled with warm and thoughtful touches. The dinner party featured a dusty rose palette, a centerpiece filled with flickering candle sticks, and clouds of chic dried floral arrangements. And of course, each guest received a box of nēmah products at their seats.
Lauren and Arie Luyendyk may not have gotten off to the easiest start on The Bachelor, but their love story has been smooth sailing ever since. Before the family of three grew to a family of five, they got to celebrate their daughter’s second birthday in festive fashion.
The Phoenix celebration included marquee signage, pastel balloons, and a live “unicorn.” The expecting parents ensured their little one had fun at her last celebration as an only child with lots of sweet treats and countless butterfly details to pose in front of.
No matter what type of event you’re planning, our team always recommends finding an event planner to help you with budgeting, brainstorming, vendor management, and day-of details. Your planner will also be able to recommend great venues based on their years of experience working in the industry.
Next comes finding your venue. It’s no secret that venues book up fast (especially if you’re looking for a weekend), so lock in your date, and then your vendor team will fall into place.
Once you’ve secured your setting, it’s time to assemble the rest of your vendors. Along with your planner, you can find your entire team on PartySlate. Comb our directories for photographers, caterers, florists, bakeries, and more in your area, then easily get in touch for your special occasion.
We’re excited to share the best weddings and parties added to PartySlate over this last year. In 2021, small events made big statements, the term micro weddings entered our vocabulary, and loved ones started to gather again.
We can’t help but look back at 2021 and feel grateful for how far we’ve come. Some finally got to see that grandparent or parent they hadn’t seen in over a year, couples tied the knot after rescheduling their wedding multiple times, and people were able to safely celebrate together.
This year, our content team eagerly gathered to vote on our favorite events submitted to PartySlate throughout 2021. We looked back at the top events of each month — from weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and so much more. This year, we chose our 13 favorite events that highlight everything from décor to entertainment.
Read on to see the 13 best weddings and parties to inspire your 2022. With both intimate and larger gatherings finally possible, we hope to inspire your next celebration.

The best place to get married varies from couple to couple. Some couples this year have opted to have their wedding in their backyard, others are taking advantage of being able to travel for a destination wedding, and some choose a venue in their city for convenience.
No matter where you choose to get married, you can use PartySlate’s curated venue directory to find an available event space. Don’t forget to filter by location, amenities, and so much more.
What wedding ideas are trending in 2021?
Last year, the PartySlate team predicted top wedding and event trends for 2021. Mini charcuteries were a 2021 catering trend that we fell in love with. Additionally, baby’s breath stole the spotlight at weddings across the country and was our team’s favorite flower.
As we go into 2022, our team is predicting monochromatic flowers to be a top trend of the year. Also, we are expecting green glassware to take over tablescape décor. View our full list of 2022 wedding trend predictions and follow along to see what we get right.
What do A-list celebrities, fruit-shaped florals, and selfie cocktails have in common? They all topped our most-liked Instagrams of 2021 (some more than once). The PartySlate team has their own favorite events from the year, party trends to obsess over, and designs we’ll never forget — but according to you, these are the best photos from 2021.
A year in review wouldn’t be complete without a look back on the most-like post on PartySlate’s Instagram — a place where you get to be the judge. You spoke, we listened, and this year’s top 10 photos are filled with fun catering trends, creative details, completely unique weddings, and (un-surprisedly) Instagram-worthy photo ops.

Once your venue is secured and your date is set, you’ll need a talented florist, creative caterer, epic balloon artist, and more vendors to create those “wow” moments your guests will be posting all night long. We highly recommend hiring one of these experienced event planners to help you think outside the box while managing your budget.
Our team loves this time of the year — when we get to sift through four seasons of inspired gatherings to choose our favorites and then look forward by predicting wedding and party trends for the year to come. We never tire of seeing people’s super-personal and beautifully-creative celebrations.
Keeping an eye on events allows us to accurately predict what’s new and noteworthy in the world of weddings, kids’ birthdays and milestone birthday parties, corporate events, and more. For example, last year we forecasted paperless menus, over-the-top floral installations at intimate events, and 80s and 90s party theming in our trend report for 2021.
As we begin to really gather again, you’re in the right place to discover how to wow your guests at your 2022 celebrations.
1. Cloudy With a Chance of Baby’s Breath
Baby’s breath has made our list before. Way back in our wedding and party trend guide for 2020 we predicted that the under-utilized and over-looked filler flower was going to move to center stage. We were right.
Now the tiny ethereal blooms have moved overhead, and in rich color. Wispy baby’s breath has extended its fifteen minutes by being versatile. Savvy party hosts are opting for floating florals in ethereal hues.
photographer: PS Photography and Films | event planner & event designer: Guerdy Design | venue: Faena Hotel Miami Beach
After a beach-side ceremony set against the backdrop of the setting sun, this celebration moved inside to enjoy sunset all over again.
But, this time Mother’s Nature’s beauty arrived in the form of delicate pink baby’s breath spun into cloud-like installations and whimsical spirals. Buoyant blooms will surprise and delight your guests.
Planner, Tara Fay of Tara Fay Events, says, “This glass orangery-style tent featured clouds constructed from pink gypsophilia [genus of baby’s breath] that the guests dined under, before dancing the night away in a hidden nightclub.”
These puffs of pink clouds look dreamy during the day and night, drawing eyes upwards to the heavens. We also love how the hue is drawn down to the tabletops with tall pink tapered candles.
This stunning southern wedding proves that when it comes to whimsical clouds of baby’s breath, you don’t need to narrow your palette to a single hue. In fact, these dreamy installations do a wonderful job of tying together the palette of the entire room; they are the element that creates a cohesive (and beautiful design statement).
Centerpieces set the mood and tone of your reception, heightening the beauty of each individual table. While designers have long thought of the tablescape as a blank canvas, now they are beginning to treat reception tables as an empty garden bed, full of infinite floral potential.
So forget the floral vase, and let your table wow with an illusion of lavish blooms growing straight from its center.
photographers: We Do Productions & The Portos | planner: Pejy Kash Events | floral & rentals: Cerka Creative | venue: Penthouse808 Rooftop at Ravel Hotel
This hip industrial hotel gets a soft, dreamy vibe with lavish greenery at every turn. Wedding centerpieces of varying heights mimic the natural growth of any forest setting. We especially love how the centerpiece reaches each guest’s place setting — creating the illusion of dining at the garden’s edge.
Violet allium and white floral spikes lend whimsy to this rustic tablescape topped with fresh moss and natural greenery. Discover other ways floral décor was seamlessly incorporated into the backyard setting. We’ll give you a hint: there’s a poolside ceremony.
3. Single Flower Variety Conjures Mono-Floral Magic
We’ve all heard of monochromatic, meaning “one color” — and we do adore a bold celebration that builds its entire décor scheme around a single hue. In fact, we delved into the beauty of this design choice in our article, Monochromatic Party Themes.
But now we’re seeing adherence to single type of flower as well. We’re calling this trend “mono-floral” as we worship at the altar of its beauty. Visualize an aisle flanked with the same flower type (in the same color) over and over again, building to a dramatic blooming arch. Envision a tabletop adorned with a repeating flower in interesting shapes as far as the eye can see, conjuring a single, magnificent vision. Imagine no more; we’re going to fulfill your floral fantasies below.
Wedding planner, Kristina Kempton shares of this stunning celebration, “Thousands upon thousands of romantic red roses drape with fluidity and movement to realize the most striking and sculptural visual…the most heavenly setting, perfect for saying “I do!”
This affair boasted an intimate guest list, but a grand vision — reminding us that wonderful things do come in small packages.
The term “white wedding” was coined in reference to the traditional hue of the bride’s gown way back in the Victorian Era (though Billy Idol should get some small share of the credit of its continued popularity).
Sure, you can stop at the dress (or tuxedo), but we prefer the take from this wedding which incorporated white everywhere from the chairs and aisle to the undulating installations of — you guessed it, our favorite — baby’s breath.
High tops are the Achilles heel of any celebration. Truth be told, it’s not easy to make a high top look good. We’ve seen plenty of wow-worthy celebrations over the years; and even some of the most memorable ones featured mundane cocktail tables or cake stands.
After years of neglect, high tops are finally coming into their own. Expect to see this oft-overlooked rental become instant Instagram fodder in the year to come.

An ordinary cocktail table becomes the go-to spot at this stunning anniversary party with the help of bright florals and suspended butterfly details. Make sure to see how bright blooms and a butterfly motif reappeared at key moments of the celebration — from an exchange of vows over a free-floating wedding aisle to the picture-perfect pastry desserts.

Gone are the days of covering the high top with a tablecloth. With a mirrored surface and skirt of lush white roses, this high top becomes the focal point of this white tented wedding. Make sure to see other glamorous floral details such as the dazzling ceiling décor that turned the first dance into an enchanted moment.
In the first half of 2020, we were gaga for blue glass. Our content team shared image after image of azure glassware adorning tables at birthday parties, dinners, and weddings with each other. But then, glass colors started shifting — pink then amber, right through the ROYGBIV spectrum, stopping on green.
Green is the color of new beginnings, so it makes sense that we’re seeing more and more of the shade as we head into the new year. From emerald and sage to mint and pistachio, green glass is wowing us right now.
photographer: Mandee Johnson Photography | planner: Victoria Ann Events | florist: My Florita | table top rentals: Soirée8 Tabletop Rentals and Shop
Something we love about green glassware is how flexible it is, elevating wedding styles from boho to modern.
This rustic outdoor wedding wowed with its string-light backdrop and pops of color. We adore how the blue linen, yellow blooms, and green vintage goblets work together to bring nature’s palette to the raw wood table.
The luxurious green theming of this stunning wedding began with its invitations; gorgeous basil-hued greenery was painted on the inner flap paired with lime response envelopes.
The wedding continued the color story, infusing green alongside all-white décor, with moss-hued draping coordinating with pine napkins and seafoam and gold goblets.
We love the way that florals, greenery, linen, and glassware seamlessly interweave for a single, gloriously cohesive design statement.
A lemon-merengue hued runner added the pop of color that carried over from the invitations to the cake, ensuring that this celebration felt like the embodiment of spring, signifying love, hope, and growth. Wow.
The 20s and the 60s were eras that knew how to have fashionable fun with fringe, attaching it to everything from dresses perfect for dancing to long suede vests — also perfect for dancing. What we’re trying to say is that fringe is festive. It only makes sense that it has made its way onto the tabletops of the swankiest of affairs.
We’re seeing fringe take shape around charger plates and as decorative tassels and we love the texture and fun vibe it conjures. We love it so much, that we’ve begun using it as a verb (sorry Miriam Webster). Does your tabletop need a little pizazz? A little joie de vivre? Fringe it.
photography: Lyndsey Anne Photography | event planner: Danzante Events | florist: Home Sweet Flowers | venue: Sequoia Retreat Center | rentals: Alexis Party Rentals; Retro Xo; View Point Rentals
Fringe fits right in at this bohemian celebration nestled at the foot of towering trees. Woven elements like fringe further nature’s presence at a beautiful table.
We adore how the rattan thrones and woven fringe offer an alternative design for the sweetheart’s table at this dreamy wedding.
This rainbow-hued cocktail party is the stuff dreams are made of, with a ROYGBIV ombré of blooms and pillows as well as floating florals with a message in the pool.
Completing the delightful design were fringed elements. Check out the woven placemats with their border of white fringe. Moreover, don’t miss the hostess’ dress; it is fabulously fringed and a design element of its own as it ties back to the colorful décor.
It turns out, a dull finish is anything but dull. In a world where the bigger the diamond ring, the bigger the oohs and ahhs; there’s something startling about matte. Like a black hole, absorbing all light, matte makes a statement — and we’re here to take note.
Matte balloons create instant photo ops at any private event. Not only do we expect this unique décor item to transform kids’ birthday parties in 2022, we know it will win over adults, as well. Whether you’re hosting a small corporate dinner party or celebrating a graduation, it’s time to rethink the concept of shine.
A cluster of pitch-black matte balloons makes a dramatic statement on any front lawn — especially as a base for black cursive signage.
We love how this graduation party eschews traditional cap-and-gown décor for a glamorous black-and-white color theme — along with other bold design elements. Tuxedoed greeters on stilts and cascades of baby’s breath keep the celebration upscale, yet edgy.
Over the last couple years, COVID-19 has changed the way we operate, and even look. On work-day Zoom calls, many of us have let our hair down and swapped the blazer for loose-fitting clothing.
Wedding designers are taking note and rethinking the traditional wedding. Straight lines are being replaced by curves and monolith shapes by fractal elements. From a waterfall of blooms to asymmetrical cascades, arches are — shall we say it? — losing their arch.
photographer: UNIQUE LAPIN PHOTOGRAPHY | venue: 74Wythe
This wedding team made the city bloom. A ceiling installation of upended red blooms create an overhead garden for an enchanted forest wedding style — even in an urban setting.
Make an exchange of vows even more magical with a backdrop of cascading roses. If love can’t transport us to a far-away place, with awe-inspiring waterfalls and lush scenery, what can?
An intimate wedding often wows with simple designs that put the focus back on the couple and their love. This wedding does just that with minimal — yet stunning — wedding décor.
Imagine a bubble wand creating an effervescent wave of shimmer. This wedding arch evokes the magic and pure delight of bubbles forming, drifting, melting. Make sure to see how the free-flowing wedding bouquet complements the dreamy vibe.
If Valentine’s Day has taught us anything, it’s that pink and red are the colorful embodiment of love. So it’s kind of surprising that it took this long for the combination to hop from the February holiday to decking out all of our most-meaningful days.
We’re seeing these dual hues elevate weddings, birthdays, dinner parties, and more. In fact, while ombré installations have been popular for a while, an ombré in a chic, yet narrow, palette is a newer trend — and we are feeling the love.
This color-blocked celebration brought together two romantic hues in the most chic fashion. Deep red formed the backdrop for the vows, with a vibrant aisle and thousands of red roses, then a nod to pink on the steps and altar.
The reception was more pink-forward. Flamingo-hued flooring, chairs, and linen formed a color-scape over which red roses hung in delightful combinations. Also don’t miss the round, checkered dance floor.
The floral-filled mandap at this South Asian wedding is a vision; when paired with the Chicago cityscape as a backdrop, its truly next level.
We especially love the way white, pink, and red blooms fade into each other in a seamless ombré effect that is carried from the entry arch to the altar.
photographer: Stanlo Photography | planning & design: Elle Audrey New York | floral design: The Floral Guru | venue: Sagamore Pendry Baltimoreevent rentals: Glam Party Rentals | lighting & rentals: The Light Source Company
A miniature wall of white, pink, and red blooms created an exquisite backdrop for this couple’s “I dos.” The entire celebration featured a beautifully cohesive design that flowed from the aisle to the reception.
Don’t miss the floral canopy adorning each table which coordinated with the mix of chairs and linen choices for a stunning scene we adore.
Is it possible to have a romantic dinner without candlelight? Candlelight sets the mood, whether it’s a romantic dinner for two on the Champs-Élysées or a large-scale wedding reception. There’s just one minor problem. The more candles, the more crowded the tablescape.
By shifting candlelight to the floor and parameters of the room, the romantic ambiance is as strong as ever — just with a little more elbow room.
photographer: De Joy Photography | planner: Pocketful Of Plans | floral: Fleurs du Soleil | venue: Eden Rift
This micro wedding created an intimate dining space with a canopy of twinkling string lights and comet tail of candlelight. Make sure to see a close up of the elegant tablescape. Gold-leaf plate chargers and terrariums filled with autumnal foliage kept the beauty at goblet height — so guests could comfortably connect over drinks and repast.
Candlelit fencing turns your venue space into a private island of romance and beauty. We also love how an overarching gold trellis with geometric chandeliers contributes to the gleaming ambiance.
Wedding and event lighting, while often overlooked, can take your event to the next level. Events by C, a premier planning team in D.C., recently predicted lighting would be a top South Asian wedding trend over the next year. “We’re seeing lighting used in ways never seen before. I’ve seen lighting transform a room to look like it is underwater and unique patterns that replace the need for a backdrop.”
All events can benefit from creative lighting techniques. Whether your celebration takes place in a grand ballroom or small industrial venue, immersive lighting can transform your four walls into everything from an underwater dreamscape to brilliant tropical sunset.
Vibrant blue projection mapping and an LED dance floor transform this glamorous ballroom into an oceanic wonderland. We especially appreciate how mirrored tablescapes and ample candlelight contribute to the dreamy aesthetic.
With the help of high-tech screens and projection mapping, it’s possible to reimagine any venue space. This intimate, hybrid wedding felt like an elopement with the addition of shadowy palm trees surrounded by a vibrant sunset. Make sure to see how the visual changed throughout the celebration. After all, who wouldn’t want to teleport from destination to destination?
While ceremonial drone photography is nothing new, we’re beginning to see receptions benefit from this sky-high approach. An overhead photo presents the full magnitude of your celebration — both before and after your guests arrive.
Talk to your list of potential event photographers to see if aerial photography is included in the list of services. Make sure to see why aerial shots should make your wedding photography checklist.

While we love a good detail shot, we are swooning over this aerial view of the wedding reception. Seeing the full picture makes you truly appreciate the art and science that goes into an event’s layout. Of course, make sure to see close-ups of the gorgeous tablescapes — and how every place setting gave guests the royal treatment.
We love how this angle captures the full-breadth of this stunning outdoor reception. Make sure to see how aerial photography was used to create dazzling optical illusions, where venue and sky melted into one.
Sure, we know that you can ring in the New Year, ring around the rosie, and that you should have put a ring on it (if you liked it) — but now, we’re also loving how rings are being recreated in edible form. We’re not talking about dimestore ring-pops, but about diamond ring-shaped bites made from the finest ingredients.
As The Sound of Music taught us, a bell is not a bell ’till you ring it; by the same logic, a ring isn’t an appetizer until you eat it. So feast your eyes on these lovely fashion-inspired hors d’oeuvres.

This is the second time that this party is appearing on our trends for 2022 list — which means you definitely want to click through to see the whole thing.
This time, we’re applauding the rainbow-themed party for its creative catering. We especially love the divine edible diamond-like rings.
When we talk about unique weddings, this over-the-top (in the best way possible) wedding is what we mean. The celebration boasts thousands of colorful florals and beautiful butterfly details.
And the catering? Well, you need to see it to believe the spread these lucky guests enjoyed. One of the hors d’oeuvres that wowed us are these edible rings topped with celebratory caviar.
It’s not new to see significant numbers displayed at parties. New Year’s Eve invariably features the incoming year on everything from novelty glasses to the photo spot. Birthday parties often have the milestone number on the cake and on printed materials like cocktail napkins.
However, we haven’t seen numbers displayed like this before. Specifically, we are seeing caterers do what our parents warned us not to: play with their food. Creative catering and design teams are using edible canvases to display milestone information. See unique examples below.
photographer: Scott Clark Photo; Jules Slütsky | wedding design: Neon River Weddings | floral: Designs by Ahn
Friends and family at this celebration were there to celebrate a milestone 40th birthday (they thought). The thorough theming extended to cocktail napkins printed with “Cheers to Coco” and to the creative cuisine, with “40th” seared into the tops of bite-sized sandwiches — inspiring us well into next year.
Once the party was underway however, guests discovered that they were celebrating both a birthday — and a wedding. Don’t miss this unique gathering.
We adore the beachy boho vibe of this birthday brunch. Come for the inspired pastel design perfectly set in the sand, stay for the artisanal charcuterie and French macarons and cookies.
In fact, it is those very sweets that landed this pretty party on our trend radar: they paired with florals to spell out “27,” signifying their friend’s new age.
This fun birthday celebration was a glorious do-over party. The birthday celebrant’s original milestone fell during the pandemic; this postponed party cleverly nodded to the fact with imprinted ice pointing out her age “+ 1” in each guest’s cocktail.
Consider hosting your own re-do party to celebrate all of your COVID-era milestones.
We’re spilling the tea: coffee is being replaced by tea for post-dinner sips at events. People have been drinking tea since before coffee, beer, or wine came along. It’s stayed around for a reason; there’s something rejuvenating, yet relaxing about tea.
And though the old song goes, “Two for tea, and tea for two, you for me, and me for you” — we’re now seeing tea for 200 or more. We love seeing tea served ceremonially or with different varieties in glass teapots for a vibrant display. For on-trend parties and weddings, tea time is now all the time.

When it comes to creative themes, it doesn’t get more unique than this boba tea-themed Galentine’s Day party. It’s a fun take on tea that offers a bubble tea station with various flavors, including strawberry and rose gold.
Don’t miss the other inspired design moments, like a photo spot that declares, “Will You Be My Bobae?” and a custom cup wall that proclaims, “You Make Me Feel All Bubbly.” And the cake? Well, it’s tea-themed too.
This multi-cultural Japanese and Ethiopian wedding combined all of the wonderful traditions of both cultures. We especially love the Japanese Tea Ceremony that the couple performed. It’s not just about offering guests a warming beverage, rather the ceremony represents harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity.
As a special take-home treat, the couple gave their guests chic bags of Ethiopian coffee and Japanese tea for the perfect brew at home.
One thing we love about this rustic floral wedding (and trust us, it’s hard to narrow it down to one thing) is how the ombré of mixed berry florals that floats over tabletops marries to the vibrant fruits below and all the way over to the hottest display of teas we’ve seen.
Colorful teas perched on glass shelves in translucent pots add a décor element all its own.
Your birthday or wedding cake is more than just dessert. It’s an integral part of many time-honored traditions — be it singing happy birthday or feeding that first bite to your spouse.
Pressed florals add texture and depth to your celebratory cake. While most popular with boho wedding styles, pressed flowers can elevate everything from a glamorous ballroom soirée to a summer pool party. Talk to your bakery and dessert company about how to incorporate party florals into your desserts
Pressed blooms seamlessly melt into watercolor floral icing for a whimsical effect. Make sure to see the impressive variety of floral décor at this Chicago fusion wedding, such as pink floral menus and a flower-framed Champagne wall.
Pressed florals and greenery are the perfect touch for a celebration in full color. From cake and fashion to floating blooms and rainbow throw pillows, every element of this milestone birthday party wows the senses.
Most gatherings cater to adults with creative cocktails, elevated fare, and décor moments that wow. But kids are often left unconsidered and unimpressed.
Forgotten no more, we’re seeing children being included in the most elegant celebrations, with thoughtful touches and well-chosen seating that seamlessly incorporates them into the merry-making.
photographer: Rachel Bush | event planner: Evoke Design & Creative | event producer: Syzygy | venue: The Goldfish Barn Event Center | linen: Nuage Designs
This totally unique boho-inspired wedding included creative design moments that wowed guests, from the ombré tablescapes to the geode wedding cake. But they didn’t forget their littlest guests.
The thoughtful couple created a kids’ table that boasted beauty and style. Each child had a personalized spot at the table, where they sat on gold Moroccan poufs.
There are so many memorable elements at this 40th birthday party-turned-surprise wedding celebration. We’re sure the thoughtfulness to guests of all sizes will be part of those lovely memories.
The tiniest guests received mini, monogrammed suitcases full of snacks and other goodies to make their experience more fun.
Welcome tote bags are the perfect way to receive your guests in style. We especially love how custom tote bags can double as décor with the right backdrop.
Utilize a tote bag wall to feature everything from branding to color schemes. The result: an unexpected photo op for picture-perfect moments.

Guests received quite a surprise when they attended what was supposed to be a 40th-birthday party. In addition to a surprise wedding, guests also enjoyed chic décor that included everything from boho tablescapes to a trending tote bag wall.
Tote bag walls are a perfect branding opportunity. We love how this launch party featured monogrammed tote bags filled with fresh bouquets — a perfect complement to the bouquet-building station and cocktail tables wrapped in blooms (another 2022 party trend).
Themes are hot right now. Whether it’s a decade — think 20s, 70s, and 90s — or something more “out there” like space or a vacation vision that evokes a dreamy locale like the tropics. We love the idea of taking a cue from birthday celebrations and applying themes to a wedding event, specifically the welcome party.
Welcome parties are rapidly replacing rehearsal dinners as first night gatherings at weddings. A welcome party is more free-flowing than a dinner. It allows the wedding couple to really connect with guests who’ve traveled to see them. Additionally, a welcome party is perfect for a fun theme that’s totally different from the wedding’s palette or theme.
Top wedding planner, The Lynden Lane Company, offers, “Whether that means going with a brighter color palette or a more relaxed vibe, your welcome party can and should reflect your not-so-serious side.”
We adore this modern fiesta-themed rehearsal dinner festooned with lush native marigolds and bright colors. Don’t miss the fun chalk signage, brightly hued ribbons, cacti, and custom printed napkins.
This couple chose a blast from the past for their guests to have a blast at. Talk about on-point decade theming, this welcome party featured perfect 90s moments, from massive gold chains and vibrant graffiti to a life-sized Rubik’s cube and an overhead installation of neon slinkies.
20. Real People, Reel Videos in a TikTok Photo Booth
The fastest-growing social media app, TikTok, has danced its way into the coolest parties. Let your guests record their lives in three-minute increments then broadcast their good time at your party for all to see. TikTok photo booths are the newest way for your guests to have an interactive moment and a captured memory all in one.

TikTok is perfectly suited to parties; we can imagine guests of all ages learning quick routines and laughing as they attempt to record their merriment. This Bat Mitzvah celebration featured a custom “TikTok Box” that encouraged partygoers to sing, dance, and have coordinated fun.
We’ve seen it thousands of times: an entertainment stage rising above the dance floor. However, placing your band in the middle (and on the same level as) your celebration makes the music feel less like a performance and more of an immersive activity.
We especially appreciate how a frame of florals turns your entertainment into an instant focal point. Best of all, a floral frame is another opportunity to feature the color scheme and theming of your celebration.
photographer: Brian Dorsey Studios | planner: Premini Events | floral & design: Birch Event Design | venue: Private Residence | entertainment: Premier DJs USA
This micro backyard wedding went big on style with a stringed quartet and intersecting arches of hot pink blooms. Make sure to see how the floral theme carried over to the tablescapes with an open canopy and floating pink centerpieces.
Take advantage of unique architectural features of your chosen venue space for one-of-a-kind décor opportunities. Fireplaces, in particular, make stunning ceremonial backdrops for a romantic wedding celebration. Wedding perk: a built-in lighting system with a cozy effect.
photographer: Ashley Maxwell Photography | planner: Amazae Events | floral: Bloomster’s | venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery | lighting: Fantasy Sound Event Services
Shimmering white drapery and englassed candlelight adds a touch of modern romance to this vintage-style fireplace. Make sure to see how the intimate ambiance continued into the reception with candlelit-framed tablescapes (another 2022 trend).
A two-story fireplace with built-in log shelving proves a rustic style can still be awe-inspiring. Glimmerings chandeliers also complement the burning embers for a cozy, yet upscale celebration.

Everyone’s been to a 70s party, but make it Woodstock-specific and your event will have a major edge up. Think retro Coachella — if the vibes were groovy and the headliner was the Beatles.
This birthday party took guests back to a hip time with details that included the decade’s most popular album covers, strung across a pampas grass-lined table. Swap predictable disco balls for sunflowers, and you’re ready to take on the eccentric era in a new light.

Look no further for unique party inspiration than from Ms. Dolly Parton herself. This design was built around the country star’s glam persona, with hot pink palettes, signage that singled out her famous one-liners, and plenty of sparkling photo ops. A one-of-a-kind party theme like this is certainly a diamond in a rhinestone event world.
It turns out Harry Styles is both a pop star and the perfect party inspiration. Turn your favorite bop into an event design and we promise, the compliments won’t be far behind. We love how this family made it a Watermelon Sugar highchair-affair for a first birthday party.
We’ll plant the seed for your next event with photos of watermelon-inspired rice krispies, donuts, balloons, activities, table settings, and more (yes, it’s all possible). After all, your little one will only turn one once — it’s worth making their day “one in a melon.”

Just like a popular song, your favorite kids’ movie character can be turned into a unique party theme. First came, Despicable Me, then came Minions — a prequel that proves small Minions stole the Pixar spotlight (and will steal your party guests’ hearts).
This Minions bonanza evokes playful energy with richly pigmented yellow flowers, balloons, desserts, and banana accents (a Minion’s favorite snack). To the parents out there, we say, “What are you waiting for?”

The most creative themes are often specific, and this 2nd-birthday party went as far as to narrow in on a single flower type. From the backyard ball pit to the moonbounce, signage, and table décor, this family found a way to make every detail resemble delicate daisies — and get on our best party themes list.
We wouldn’t be doing this party justice if we didn’t talk about the food finds. Daisy-decorated packaging housed french fries and kid-friendly snacks, while edible daisy desserts topped cupcakes and ice cream. Plus, passed cocktails for adult attendees were strutted about on daisy-shaped platters — a friendly reminder that a touch of themed catering goes a long way.

Take guests out of this world with a new spin on space. Making your party theme alien-specific will differentiate it from the other “outer space” parties your little one attends. Supernatural details at this 1st-birthday include spacecraft-inspired cookies, futuristic florals, and metallic balloons. Add alien antennas for each of your small guests to wear, and you’ll have a photo-ready party that’s as festive as it is original.

Halloween meets celestial-chic for this party theme. Your guests will be intrigued from the moment they arrive with a dark and moody design like this one. We especially love this daring theme idea for a small dinner party, which leaves room for abundant details and intrigue — all from the table. Did we mention we’re feeling envy?

You guessed it: A unique drink also makes for a very unique party theme, and these photos prove it. When it comes to creative scaling, the Boba tea (also known as bubble tea) theme is liquid gold.
On top of including the obvious (an all you can drink tea bar), this outdoor gathering took it a step further with a boba tea-inspired cake, boba-frosted cookies, and a milk tea palette. It goes without saying that the event’s clever signage and sip-worthy décor have us feeling bubbly.

Typical party hosts want to avoid bad weather on their big event day — and this Bat Mitzvah girl brought it inside. This legendary lightning-themed party made a rainy day glam with glitter-dripping clouds and a thunderstruck ballroom. The party’s dance floor was at the focal point of a whirlwind of color and AV effects, which had guests singing in the faux rain, and dancing in the clouded moonlight.

And just like that, Elvis is cool again. For one night only, you can take guests back in time with a party theme inspired by one of music’s biggest legends. We guarantee your dance floor will be packed as soon as the band cues up “Hound Dog” and “Heartbreak Hotel.” As for the party design, we suggest a jet black palette with plenty of leather décor, electric guitar-inspired props, and photos of the icon himself scattered across the party — just like at this 87th-birthday party.
Still feeling stuck on a creative party theme? Dig a little deeper like this Bar Mitzvah boy, and make it your favorite hobby. This thirteen-year-old’s passion (photography) was turned into a party theme that’s giving us all the right angles — from sweeping views of Manhattan to walls lined with illusive mirrors.
Like any great Bar Mitzvah party, the event featured its own slogan: “Focus on the fun.” And just as our cameras would be, we’re focused on every enticing moment. As for a one-of-a-kind element, the guest of honor’s own polaroids were used as place cards for each attendee. All that’s left is a PartySlate-approved photographer, and we’re ready to give this theme our best shot.

Arguably, the cutest (and most creative) take on a golf theme we’ve seen, this first “par-tee” mastered the details. Guests were treated to golf ball cake pops, caddy cookies, and a course-inspired birthday cake. On top of all the edible additions, guests were greeted by a hole-in-one photo op, custom golf balls, and a mini golf course (perfect for the mini guests in attendance).
Keep your passports at home. We’ve seen our fair share of travel-themed events: cue the airport-inspired check-ins and flight attendant-outfitted staff. But honing in on one specific country and taking guests through a progressive dinner party tour is a new twist we couldn’t skip.
This birthday took guests through some of Italy’s famous (and beautiful) destinations. From a photo op entrance channeling the Amalfi Coast’s signature crystal blue tile patterns to a sit-down dinner intertwined by Tuscany’s signature grapevines, this Italian travel party was creative with class.

Out with Coachella, in with The Governors Ball. There’s finally new inspiration for a music festival theme, and it comes from the opposite coast. This Bar Mitzvah production spared no detail with mesmerizing neon déocr, a wide range of food stands (like any good festival), show-stopping performers, and a signature “merch” tent. With each element, our team is drawn deeper into the festival scene, from juice pouch mocktails to solo cup signage (that’s somehow made luxe).

Look no further for a luxe luncheon theme than Gucci. This sit-down celebration is true eye candy with chic pastels, sophisticated patterns, and fashionable throws at each seat. The subtle green placemats, fringe menus, and votives are a nod to the designer’s signature look, while keeping things fun and fresh. When it comes to top tier event designs, the world of high fashion can offer some of the best inspiration.
It’s no secret that we love a tropical party — but however much we enjoy them, it’s not the most creative theme on the menu. Enter: A Caribbean twist. This birthday party is all we love about a tropical affair, with an original new spin. From Caribbean cuisine to locally-sourced rum, the event channeled the region’s culture and climate in unique ways (including a must-see charcuterie board and coconut textured cake).

If chemistry wasn’t your favorite subject, it will be now. This Bar Mitzvah was all about the elements from chemical-derived table numbers and place card logos to test tube mocktails and formula-driven menus.
The periodic table-themed party took science class to a new level with lab-inspired centerpieces, lab coat-outfitted servers, and so much more. When it comes to making learning fun for teens, this party inspiration is about as good as it gets (and will school every other science-themed event out there).
As you may know, the 80s have made a major comeback when it comes to trending party themes. If you love the decade but want to stand out from an influx of neon spandex and throwback proms, this version is for you.
The 80s hit crime series Miami Vice captures all you love about the 80s in an original light. The show’s vibrant clothes and eye-catching visuals were brought back to life at this milestone birthday party in a nightclub-inspired setting. Of all the creative details to note, we especially love the Miami skyline-printed dance floor that flowed into adjacent lettering.

We will simply never tire of a Parisian-inspired party (and neither will your guests). This luncheon, however, kept things creative with a French café focus. Guests were greeted at their seats by fresh baguettes and floral arrangements with a subtle nod to the flag of France. For the party hosts with classic taste, this café theme will keep things unique and timeless.

Simply put, this theme is the bee’s knees (minus the bees). We’ve seen our fair share of bumble bee-themed parties with a touch of honey, but this honeycomb-themed baby shower made it all about the golden treat.
Thoughtfully-curated details included honeycomb textured tapered candles, honey dipper place settings, and corresponding cocktail stirrers. A pastel dessert bar and jarred party favors coupled with soft yellow balloons and matching drinks are just a few reasons we recommend this sweet theme for those with their own hunnies on the way.

Each May the Kentucky Derby gives horse racing enthusiasts (and everyone else) an excuse to dress up, put on a funky hat, and have a Mint Julep (or two). But what about the rest of the year? Our team is all for year-round Southern charm and Derby décor. We love how this couple put the theme on their Seattle rehearsal dinner. Ribbon place cards and Southern-inspired hors d’oeuvres are just a few ways to bring this theme to life while maintaining a sophisticated setting.

Just about anything can be made into a party theme. Don’t believe us? Check out this rubber ducky-themed baby shower. Yes, even your child’s favorite toy can inspire an entire event.
This hotel pool space was turned into a squeaky clean party setup, with an oversized rubber duck floating throughout a range of soapy bubble-inspired balloons. A bathtub overflowing with yellow florals and a 5-tiered cake reminiscent of your little one’s bathtime are more details to swoon over.
Want to stick with the classics? There are plenty of trending party themes out there. Let’s start with some throwbacks. You can never go wrong taking guests back to the 90s (after all, the decade’s fashion has made a major comeback). We also love a nostalgic 80s theme bash, a dashing Gatsby gathering, or a sparkling disco-themed party.
Want to steer away from a timeframe? There are plenty of other popular party themes to choose from including neon theme parties, tropical theme parties, kids’ movie theme parties, and more.
What’s next?
When you’re ready to start planning, the first step is to find a party venue. On PartySlate, you can browse venues near you by minimum spend, capacity, amenities, style, and more. Don’t forget to save your favorites to an Idea Slate, so you can keep track of the spaces you love (and whom you’ve sent a message to).
There’s something about the pure energy of a kids movie that still has my heart at 26. While my friends anticipate the latest blockbuster action films and rom-coms, I’m always eager to see what creative genius Pixar will top themselves with next.
One of my all-time favorite movies is Inside Out. The movie takes viewers inside the head of an 11-year-old via personified emotions. Between the wild visuals and outrageous adventures, you’ll discover important life lessons for all ages. So while most kids’ movies are light-hearted, there’s a lot of hidden meaning behind your little one’s favorite film (or your favorite, I’m not judging).
All of this is to say: Kids movies make the absolute best birthday party themes. From being brave like Moana to finding unlikely friends like Woody and Buzz Lightyear, there’s no better way to celebrate a milestone than with inspiration from your favorite characters.

Minions is probably one of the most adorable kids party themes on this list. The cheery color palette alone is reason to make this your movie party choice. We love a plot (and celebration) that encourages teamwork, eating bananas (hello, potassium), and staying curious.
Minions also tells us that it’s okay to make mistakes — just don’t let it be missing out on a creative party opportunity, like this one.
I’ll be honest, I have a personal attachment to Toy Story. Kids around my age basically grew up with Andy, and when he left for college in Toy Story 3 we were leaving too (or weren’t far from it).
But there’s a lot more to work with here than a timeline. From heartwarming music including “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” to all the toys that came alive, the design, prop, and experiential element options are endless. You can even dress the part (I certainly did when I was little).
There’s so much to love about Sing, I won’t even attempt to fit it all into this paragraph (if you haven’t seen it, you should, immediately). The overall message is to believe in yourself.
When it comes to a Sing party, I’d suggest activities like kids karaoke, and a sing-along playlist. This birthday offers the perfect inspiration. Each small guest found colorful microphones at their kid-size stools, along with iced cookies representing the main characters.

I’m sure you know the plot of Dumbo, but in case you don’t, it tells the tale of a circus elephant born with oversized ears. And you guessed it, what made Dumbo different also made him extremely talented and special.
So why choose an ordinary circus theme when you can give it a Dumbo twist like this 1st birthday? Our team is especially loving the marquee letters spelling out the birthday boy’s name and the life-like Dumbo cake.
The Beauty and the Beast storylinetells us that it’s what’s on the inside that counts — except when it comes to a Beauty and the Beast-themed party, that is.
This 6th birthday went all-in on décor with vibrant red rose centerpieces, intricately designed desserts, and a fairytale photo op. An iconic, yellow Belle outfit for the birthday girl or boy wouldn’t hurt either!
For all the parents with Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces kids, this is the best winter party inspiration. From “Let it Go” to “Do You Want to Build a Snowman,” consider yourself warned that the music will be stuck in your head for days to come.
Hire a balloon artist to create a winter white ceiling installation like this celebration, and have a rental company add white draping and some sparkly silver linen, and your little guests will be immediately transported to Arendelle.
I won’t tell you how many times I’ve watched Moana, but I will tell you it would make the best kids party theme (and the details from this 3rd birthday prove it).
Moanais not your typical Disney princess, and for that, we love her even more. If your little one has a summer birthday, or you’re simply looking for a tropical feel, this movie puts an adventurous spin on a popular party style.
There’s never been a better time to emphasize the importance of finding the silver lining, and Trolls does that in a kid-friendly way. This virtual 4th birthday party offers inspiration to bring the movie to life (and it’s no coincidence that there’s silver tinsel wall linings).
When it comes to a Trolls party theme, bring on the color. From invitations to party favors, desserts and more, this movie will make for a memorable milestone, guaranteed.

According to Simply Perfect Events, all that was needed was “faith, trust, and pixie dust” to make this Peter Pan party soar. Taking guests to Neverland may seem like an obvious party theme, but the depth of detail and wide range of elements you can use makes each Peter Pan party totally unique.
The best part? This theme is totally transferable to adult parties — after all, we never need to grow out of such a classic.
Okay, Star Wars isn’t the most kid-friendly movie on the list, but it is PG — and for that reason I couldn’t leave it out.
This “trooper training” birthday optimized the theme for young ones with character-lined centerpieces, a galaxy-inspired balloon installation, and a Yoda cake topper (resist that, you will not). Animated chair backings, “choose wisely” dessert carts, and a costume station prove that every detail counts when it comes to making your theme party stand out.
There are a few things to consider when selecting your little one’s party theme. First, what are their interests and hobbies? There are plenty of movies that can align with your kids’ latest obsession. From Cars to Paw Patrol it’s easy to find characters that reflect something they love.
You can also consider the season. Finding Nemo and Surf’s Up make great summer party themes, while Frozen and Ice Age might suit winter birthdays better. If you need more ideas, you can filter real kids’ birthday parties on PartySlate by theme, season, style, and more.
Sarah Martin and her future husband were enjoying a walk through their favorite nature preserve along Lake Erie when he got down one knee and proposed. From that moment onwards, the wedding planning began — with dreams of a Brazilian brunch, lush tropical greenery, and open seating. As a Black woman, Sarah has always felt passionately about supporting Black-owned businesses. “When I was planning my wedding,” she shares, “my feelings were no different.” Although Sarah was able to find her wedding photographer through her parents’ church, finding other Black-owned event professionals proved more elusive.
“I didn’t even know where to begin searching online for professionals who are Black and Brown,” Sara explains. “My seamstress is a friend of a friend who is from Latin America and I never would have found her if I didn’t ask friends.” She goes on to tell us, “While I was fortunate to find many of the vendors through word of mouth, it would have been wonderful to have one site or magazine that I could have references for vendors in my area.”
