Add Sparkle to Every Event — Iridescent Décor is Here to Stay

There’s a reason why diamonds are a girl’s best friend. At PartySlate, we love anything that sparkles — especially iridescent décor. These 12 celebrations bring on the glimmer from dance floor to ceiling installation. Trust us: Disco balls, sequin linens, and crystal beading are just the tip of the glittering iceberg. Whether you are hosting a lavish gala or an intimate wedding, there is no such thing as too much sparkle.

This boho-themed wedding was a photographer’s dream with ombré tablescapes, cascading floral installations, and a watercolor-inspired dance floor. We especially love how a geode wedding cake and jewel-toned glassware brought additional sparkle to this glittering affair.

Geometric mirrored-walls, futuristic furniture, and an iridescent dance floor made this Tampa Gala a dreamscape of silver and shimmer. Performers wore sparkling costumes while guests enjoyed lustrous cocktails — because there really is no such thing as too much glitter.

Opals are (Also) a Girl’s Best Friend

Opalescent backdrops paired with iridescent uplighting
photographer: Nelson Lee | planner & décor: Patrick J Clayton Productions | venue: Appear Hear Mansion | rental: Taylor Creative Inc. | caterer: Black Flour Crepes

Opalescent backdrops paired with iridescent uplighting for a stunning aesthetic at this Kérastase collection launch. We adore how shimmering rollerblades and skateboards added additional twinkle (and creative photoshoot props) for this eye-catching event.

I Got Disco Babe

Disco ball backdrop
photographer: Osh Images | planner: Apotheosis Events | environmental design: TINSEL Experiential | venue: Pier Sixty | rentals: Luxe Event Rentals | a/v technology: L&M Sound and Light | photo booth: The Bosco

The world’s most glamorous diva (Cher, of course) received a glamorous Broadway debut with giant disco balls, mylar fringe, and mirrored backdrops. A vast tasseled chandelier took our breath away — and almost stole the show.

Party Like it’s 1969

Event space with disco balls and slinky ceiling installations
photographer: Kehoe Designs | décor: Kehoe Designs | venue: Sheraton Grand Chicago

Disco balls, lava lamps, and a slinky ceiling installation made this corporate soirée a night to remember. If we had any reservations about dancing, the psychedelic dance floor quickly changed our minds.

Peer into a Crystal Ball

Glowing orchid centerpieces with crystal balls on a tablescape
photography: The Mamones | planner: Jennifer Zabinski Events | décor: Todd Events | venue: Gilley’s | a/v technology: See Hear Productions | caterer: G Texas Catering | entertainment: Élan Artists

The orchids were glowing, lucite seating was shimmering, and crystal balls were reflecting on mirrored table tops. This unique corporate event even featured greeters decked out in LED attire.

(G)listen Up: Light-up Balloons Add instant Glamour

This Bat Mitzvah dazzles us with LED balloons and teal uplighting. An archway of iridescent balloons gave guests a ‘Grammable entrance worth sharing again and again.

A Desert Mirage We’d Happily Go Astray For

Wish Upon a Wedding’s annual gala, at which PartySlate was a sponsor, convinced us that the desert is a good place to lounge. Other glittery décor — like Crystal beaded centerpieces, a mirrored wedding cake, and silvery place settings — kept us swooning throughout the evening as we learned about the couples who were gifted weddings by this generous organization.

Puttin’ on the Glitz

DJ with a glittery purple computer and backdrop
photographer: Natasha Moustache | planner & décor: TYGER | Event Design + Production |venue: Boston Center for the Arts | caterer: Gourmet Caterers

This DJ turned up the volume (and the shimmer) at this Boston gala. Purple-sequin throw pillows and a crystal-beaded room divider made the space dazzle from every angle.

Sazeracs, Manhattans, and Sparkling Champagnes

Reflective disco balls, starlight projection mapping, and a mirrored dance floor kept this party on fire. This iridescent bar facade meant adults were also able to indulge in the glitz and glamour.

photographer: Stark Studios | planner: Lisa Ivler Events | décor: Flower Power Designs | venue: 4Sixty6 Caterers | caterer: 4Sixty6 Caterers | entertainment: Total Entertainment

The giant disco ball wasn’t the only thing shining at this glitter bomb-themed Bat Mitzvah. The sparkling linens and glittering votives made the dining experience one for the picture books.

Start the New Year Off Right with Plenty of Sparkle

Iridescent ceiling installation that looks almost like icicles
photographer: Bob & Dawn Davis Photography & Design | planner: Reva Nathan & Associates | décor: HMR Designs and Frost Chicago | venue: Four Seasons Hotel Chicago | entertainment: Rendezvous Music

An iridescent ceiling installation almost stole the show at this New Year’s Eve wedding. Of course, the bride was even more stunning — and just as dazzling with sequined high heels, diamond jewelry, and a glittering clutch.

Decorative Tassels & Metallic Mylar Fringe Are Popular Ways to Add Glamour to Every Celebration

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but they’re not all that sparkles. When it comes to event décor, designers and planners are thinking beyond traditional florals and seeking out unique elements to create a sparkling experience. Decorative tassels, tinsel backdrops, and shimmering metallic mylar fringe add instant movement and depth (not to mention glamour) to any soirée. These 9 celebrations inspire us to get creative and indulge in the magical effect of tassel and tinsel installations.

Spotify Party Lit up the Night

photographer: Scott Clark Photo | planner: TINSEL Experiential | décor: BML Blackbird | venue: Avant Gardner | rental: Party Rental Ltd., Taylor Creative Inc., and Luxe Event Rentals | caterer: Creative Edge Parties

Spotify’s corporate holiday party lit up the evening with gigantic mylar-fringe chandeliers and a dramatic laser-light show. The glamour of the glittering décor was amped up even further by drag queen performers, tarot card readings, and a lively dance party with DJ Hester Prynne. We especially love how the expansive warehouse space was designated into color-themed-areas, such as a Red Soul Hair Salon, Red Trap Diner, Green Funk Laundromat, and Blue Punk Rock Bodega.

Basketball Glam is Now a Thing

photographer: Armen Asadorian Photography | planner: Aliana Events | décor: Celio’s Design | rental: MTB and La Tavola Fine Linen | entertainment: LIV Entertainment Group | caterer: La Gandola Catering

This basketball-themed Bat Mitzvah set the scene with coral and blush-colored ceiling fringe. We especially adore how cheerleaders performed with matching-fringe pom poms. The dinner plates and dance floor were on-theme with coral-and-blush basketball designs. Pops of pink and orange continued with colorful napkins and seating upholstery.

This Guggenheim Party Installation is Art

a mirrored bar in the foreground with blue lighting and a funky chandelier hanging above. Tables and chairs are behind the bar.
photographer: 2me Studios | planner: Ink Events & Design

A corporate holiday party for Guggenheim amazed guests with a dramatic tear-dropped ceiling installation that reflected a colorful laser-light show. The life-sized helicopter made for a one-of-a-kind photo op, while spectacular projection mapping turned the dance floor into a kaleidoscope of colors. We also love how luxe lounge seating gave guests a cozy spot to enjoy a sumptuous dessert of ice cream and s’mores.

Crystals & Florals for These Nuptials

Draped crystals that crown an all-silver lounge area
photographer: Vincent Segalla Photography | planner: Norma Cohen Productions | décor: Floral Art | venue: Shaare | a/v technology: Pegasus | caterer: Shaare Zion Caterer | entertainment: Faks Productions

This lavish wedding took tassels to the next level with draped crystals that crowned an all-silver lounge area and floral tassels defining seating areas. Eye-catching ceiling décor brought a sky full of stars to this Big Apple venue. Metallic sofas and iridescent throw pillows were paired with lucite seating and silver drapery for a luxurious effect. Of course, the wall of mirrors adjoining the cocktail area also captured our imaginations.

An Entrance That’s Every 13-Year-Old Girl’s Dream

After becoming a Bat Mitzvah, this young lady deserved a grand entrance to her celebration. A glittering wall of beads made for an arrival that literally sparkled. Even the floral décor eschewed the traditional look for larger-than-life satin blooms that seemed to soar above the banquet tables. Suspended strings of pearls added additional glitz and glamor to this unique celebration.

Gala Goes Full-Galactic Grandeur

They say “space is the last frontier.” Chicago’s Columbian Ball for the Museum of Science and Industry sent us across the galaxy and into the depths of the universe with an awe-inspiring planetary installation. Glittering strings of suspended crystals combined with starlit projection mapping convinced us to leave floral décor to the earthlings. We are especially obsessed with the sun-like disco ball drawing all eyes to the center of the room.

Can’t Celebrate Cher Without Tassels

a bar surrounded by multicolored tinsel
photographer: Osh Images | planner: Apotheosis Events | environmental design: TINSEL Experiential | venue: Pier Sixty | rentals: Luxe Event Rentals | a/v technology: L&M Sound and Light | photo booth: The Bosco

The Cher Show on Broadway celebrated at their opening night party with mylar fringe and iridescent tassels — of course. Whether guests were ordering drinks, making a grand entrance, or getting down on the dance floor, they enjoyed stunning waterfall chandeliers of varying colors. Table centerpieces boasting disco balls and metallic floral displays sent us swooning, while dramatic uplighting dazzled us from one moment to the next.

Slinky Décor that Springs to Life

photographer: James Atkins Photography | planner: Rachel De Marte Events | décor & lighting: Kehoe Designs | band lighting & sound: Sound Investment AV | caterer: Boka Catering Group | entertainment: Libido

This corporate event paid tribute to the 90s with a jaw-dropping ceiling installation made entirely out of slinkies. Other fun and unique décor elements included retro hand chairs, a skateboard-adorned bar area, and Wayne’s World table-art. Catering stations sported signage that referenced our favorite 90s TV shows and movies, while vintage arcade games gave guests a chance to reconnect with Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong. As excited as we are for 2020 to unfold, sometimes it’s nice to reminisce.

Photographer: Sheri Whitko Photography | planner: Paulette Wolf Events | décor:
Kehoe Designs | venue: WCF Events | production: KISHBAUGH + PARTNERS | a/v technology: Sound Investment AV | caterer: J&L Catering

This corporate event took its cue for ceiling décor from the athletic setting. We love the turf-like fringe as well as other vibrant details — like giant balloons and space-age seating.

The Art of Ikebana — Minimalist Japanese Floral Design — Inspired these 7 Celebrations

At its heart, Ikebana — the art of Japanese floral design — is all about appreciating the shape, color and style of each bloom. Its focus on thoughtful composition inspires us. We love how these seven celebrations take inspiration from Ikebana to showcase minimalist floral arrangements with careful attention to root, leaf, and stem. At PartySlate, we always knew floral design was an art form — these chic celebrations prove it seven times over.

Deconstructed Floral Arrangements

photographer: Paulsta

To celebrate the launch of lululemon and Roksanda’s Fall/Winter collaboration, Broadway stars and collaborators wined and dined with a sumptuous three-course meal. Both cuisine and florals took their cues from the new line’s color palette, creating a visually-stunning (and on-theme) soirée. We especially love how fashion illustrations decorated the walls, providing inspiration at every turn.

Less is More

A long rectangular table with branchy floral arrangements dow the center. White table linens and wine glasses are on either sides.
photographer: Jenn Pablo Photography

Simplicity does not have to mean scarcity. For this stylish launch party, artfully-arranged blooms ran along the entire length of the banquet table. Black dishware and a cream tablecloth created a stunning contrast with the elegant floral display. We especially appreciate how simple tea lights added a bit of enchantment to this outdoor dinner party.

For the Lover of Modernity

This New York gala for Tiffany & Co. was a feast for the eyes with dramatic projection mapping and striking uplighting. Lounge seating was sleek and modern with a black sofa and silver coffee table. In this case, we cannot think of a better place to showcase a simple, yet visually-stunning, floral arrangement.

Copper-Wire Curves

Every detail glimmered at this copper-inspired celebration, including the intricate hanging orchid installations. Burnt-copper menus and sumptuous cake decorated with edible copper detailing were just some of the gorgeous elements that made this soirée one of our favorite celebrations this year.

Boho-Chic

photographer: A Sea of Love

The art of floral arrangement certainly inspired this boho-chic wedding. We adore how colors and textures vary in this gorgeous floral display. The bridal bouquets featured the same exquisite attention to detail. Best of all, no two sets of blooms were the same, making every element at this chic wedding a unique symbol of the couple’s one-of-a-kind romance.

Each Bloom a Work of Art

The careful arrangement of florals at this milestone-birthday celebration immediately caught our eyes. The simplicity of these artful compositions were a perfect contrast to the more psychedelic elements of the room — like mirror laser-cut panels and LED lighting.

Whimsical and Nature-Inspired

a white background with a white table in the foreground that holds two wooden bowls and a branchy sparse floral arrangement with yellows and oranges. Photos of a couple are tucked behind.
photographer: Ingmar Chen

This modern and chic wedding chose not to distract from the lofty all-white space. Simple string lighting and delicate floral arrangements let the grandeur of the building shine through. We especially cherish the contrast of industrial space with the nature-inspired floral design.

The Beauty of Bare Branches

a long table extends through the room with a white tablecloth decorated with elegant place settings and branches and greens.
photographer: Ben Ramos Photography

The art of Ikebana reminds us to look beyond the bloom and appreciate the beauty of an entire plant. These branch-heavy centerpieces with pops of dark greenery heralded the beginning of spring at this March wedding. The opulent venue boasted glittering chandeliers and luxe drapery, making it an ideal backdrop for the simple, elegant décor.

Reinvent the [Color] Wheel with These Monochromatic Party Themes

Monochrome color is taking the world by storm. From monochromatic fashion to mono-hued home décor, we’re falling in love with the inherent power of a single color. Top event planners and designers know a good trend when they see one, so expect the new decade to make its debut with more celebrations featuring monochromatic party themes. From all-pink product launches to sky-blue galas, there’s a perfect color waiting to set the mood for your next celebration.

Rhapsody in Blue

blue lit tent with hearts floating above the scene
photographer: Show Ready Photo | décor: Blueprint Studios – Rental and Got Light | venue: Stanford Red Barn | caterer: Paula LeDuc Fine Catering & Events

A clear tent gave guests at this beach-themed gala unobstructed views of pristine blue sky. With turquoise drapery and azure carpet, this monochromatic wonderland created a dreamy ocean-like backdrop for a worthy cause. We especially love how colorful highboys and upholstered seating popped against the all-blue setting. Whimsical paper-heart cutouts decorated the wood bar, tempting guests to pull out their cameras as they ordered a drink.

Double Down with Two Colors

This milestone-birthday party took its monochromatic décor to the next level with dueling all-yellow and all-pink rooms. As guests entered the celebration, two seating charts (one yellow, one pink, of course) stood side-by-side, offering the first clue that two different aesthetics awaited. Guests seated in the yellow room enjoyed bursts of yellow balloons, floral centerpieces, and even a yellow-themed craft cocktail. Pink-room guests were wowed with all-pink tablescapes, feathery centerpieces, and whimsical cotton-candy installations. Sometimes two (colors) are truly better than one.

All-White Wonderland

photographer: Christy Tyler Photography | planner: Clementine Custom Events | décor: Exquisite Designs | venue: Chez | invitations & print: Minted and Leah Moss | entertainment: Stitely Entertainment and DJ-Chicago | a/v technology: MDM | caterer: Limelight Catering

This all-white wedding took its inspiration from the white brick walls and lucite mirage ghost chairs of its venue. White linens and drapery paired with alabaster orchids to create a sleek and modern look. We especially adore the luxe white lounge area with its freeform white-shag rug.

Pretty in Pink

photographer: Jonathan Zizzo | experiential & event marketing agency | LESTER | event producer: Paul Levatino | venue: The Joule, Dallas | décor: Twelve Thirty Four Flowers | rentals: Beautiful Event Rentals

Ralph Lauren honored its new rose-colored Beyond Romance Eau de Perfume with an all-pink product launch. The rosy drapery and carpeting made for a gorgeous pink backdrop, while a blush lounge area and various shades of pink blooms were the perfect monochromatic accents. Best of all, magenta neon signage added dazzling illumination as well as inspiring messaging. Sometimes the right perfume (and color) is all we need to start the day off right.

Purple Haze

a purple lit room with rectangle long tables with purple linens and purple flowers
photographer: Studio AG | décor: Studio AG | venue: Chez

This stylish birthday soirée won us over with its all-violet décor. Lavender uplighting made everything else — from eggplant-colored accent pillows to dark purple carpets — shine with beauty. Chic tablescapes included deep purple linens and a range of purple-shaded florals. We cannot think of a more delightful way to enjoy a good meal with close friends and family.

As Good as Gold

Yellow monochromatic event with a yellow couch and yellow floral centerpiece
photographer: Les Loups | planning: Duke + Van Deusen | Florals & Wedding Design TINSEL Venue: Gold Label Weddings & Events

Not only did this lavish New York wedding feature a sunny room of all-yellow accent pieces, it also boasted multiple rooms of varied monochromatic colors. From deep-red uplighting that transformed one hallway into a ruby prism to an all-white foyer that featured sparkling lights and ethereal balloons, color set the mood at this unique wedding celebration.

Passionate Reds

a venue with a great deal of depth with red uplighting taking over the scene
photo: courtesy of Ziegfeld Ballroom | planner: Gourmet Advisory Services | venue: Ziegfeld Ballroom | production: Innovative Stage Productions | entertainment: Total Entertainment

This all-red Game of Thrones premiere after party captured the “fire and blood” of the hit HBO series. Crimson uplighting and deep-red sofas set the mood, while scarlett drapery and a vermillion bar kept us thinking of Daenery’s fire breathing dragons. Best of all, an elaborate ice sculpture resembling the iron throne reflected the all-red extravaganza at hand.

We excel in personalizing and branding every event to the specific client — whether a corporation or a couple. For example, there was a set of three sisters for whom we had the pleasure of planning all of their weddings — each about two years apart from one another. We’ve never done that before! Each sister has such a different personality. We created three weekends for this family that were completely unique experiences, branded to suit each couple. The most recent bride was married at the Omni Mt. Washington Hotel in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. This wedding was very rich, velvety, and calm —with fireplaces, yoga in the morning, and snow capped mountains in the distance. The middle bride married at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. This wedding was a PARTY with crystals, sparkle, and tons of dancing. The first bride married at the family’s private home on Attitash Mountain in Bartlett, New Hampshire. This wedding had a completely boho-chic vibe: organic, tented, teepees and dream catchers.

Throughout the planning process, it is our job to help our clients celebrate each moment of the journey — not simply the wedding day! One of the most unique things that we offer is a guided tour of the New England Flower Exchange, so each couple can curate their wedding floral design and color scheme. We call this our “Market Visit.” We do not believe in making you select your wedding flowers from a book. After 10 years in the floral industry, our co-founder Moira Thomspon came up with a unique philosophy to get to know each couple personally: take couples to the Market and show them the beautiful variety Mother Nature has to offer. She takes each of our couples to the market to curate their wedding day florals — noting which blossoms they gravitate towards, favorite shades and textures, and which blooms make them the happiest! Our couples continuously tell us that market visit stands out as one of the most fun experiences in the entire planning process.

We also love creating at least one magical, unexpected moment at every event! Some examples from past events include: A rose bar before the ceremony, a flower crown bar for guests during the reception, pedicab rides around the venue, stunning floral installations vs. traditional centerpieces, surprise dancers to get the crowds going, even a parade led by a New Orleans style 2nd line band bringing guests around the block!

Geometric Igloo I Dos, Kiehls’ Oversized Installation, and a Glam Basketball Bat Mitzvah — Plus 21 More of Our Favorite Parties from 2019

More than 8,000 innovative and inspiring events were uploaded to PartySlate in 2019 — and we looked at every single one. All we can say is wow. We’re stunned by the variety of visions, locales, and ways these parties have been personalized. We agonized over the beautiful bounty of choices. Alas, here they are in all of their creative glory: our 24 favorite celebrations of 2019 (because we couldn’t possibly pick just 20).

Weddings

photographer: Ana Hinojosa; Sergio Sandoná photography

Igloo I Do

What do trendy pampas grass, a futuristic geometric igloo, and magical floating lights have in common? This wedding. We can’t get enough of how this totally unique celebration upends our expectations with its surprisingly muted palette and glamorous desert vibe.

photographer: Ana Hinojosa; Sergio Sandoná photography | event planner: Mindy Weiss Party Consultants | design: House of Kirschner | venue: Montage Los Cabos | paper products: Julie Song | videographer: Aaron Novak Films | entertainment: DJ Vikas Sapra; Giselle World; Mala Rumba; Isabella Roldan; Gram Musik; Salon Acapulco

photographer: Dennis Kwan Photography

Marital Mirage

The sunset and the setting played award-winning supporting roles in this celebrity wedding — with DJ Tiesto marrying love Annika Backes. Sunset-inspired florals, creative lighting illuminating desert dunes, and mirrored arches playing hide-and-seek with the arid desert landscape are just a few of the many inspired details we can’t stop talking about.

Fantasy in Fall Foliage

This perfectly round ceremonial space juxtaposes against the jagged Malibu mountains to beautiful effect at this fall wedding. Click to see the fine-feathered invitations, the perfect-pampas arch, and a chic vintage car-turned-photo-spot with its engine overflowing with russet and ivory florals.

Sunrise at Sunset

As refined and muted as the first three weddings profiled were, this one is a riot of color and bright florals — a vibrant, visual delight. String lights against an evening sky illuminate this deeply-hued celebration, where nature serves up inspiration. Sunrise-inspired blooms in deep red, pale yellow, and peach hues coordinate with yellow lemons and purple grapes for a fresh take on décor.

photographer: Katie Beverley | planner: Best Bride | floral & design: Butterfly Floral & Event Design | venue: Hummingbird Nest Ranch

photographer: Rachel Bush

Bohemian Beauty

From the whimsy of forest-set nuptials (that guests enjoyed from chic cozy couches) to the watercolor-inspired floral-draped ceiling, this wedding celebration was a bohemian paradise. We love how modern and romantic styles mixed and mingled with a mirror-arched dance floor surrounded by soft blooms in an ombré of pastel hues.

Alabaster Affair

Guests went from the dreamy garden feel of this couple’s vows, infused with verdant greenery, to the opulence of a floral-forward reception. Ivory and soft pink blooms played against a stunning ceiling installation, with gray and lavender blooms punctuated by shiny silver orbs — creating a magical vision. Bonus: See how many spots you can find this couple’s cool custom crest.

Free-Spirited Musical Extravaganza

New Orleans — known for its epic music-driven celebrations — was the perfect setting for the celebrity wedding of Glee star Darren Criss to longtime love Mia Swier. Their southern-set vows under dripping Spanish moss transformed into an “opium den” inspired cocktail reception, then into a 3-hour concert featuring the couple and their talented friends. It’s a must-see celebration.

photographer: Callaway Gable

Garden-Set Romance

This wedding is all about the details — from the garden-set wooden aisle to the mini florals at each place setting and the In-N-Out burgers for hungry late-nighters. We adore the opulent dual arches at the ceremony and how they lead the eye to the floral-draped chuppah.

photographer: Callaway Gable | event planner: Alyson Fox, Levine Fox Events | floral: Marks Garden | floral: Nancy Kaye | design: Revelry Event Designers | venue: Four Seasons Westlake | rental: Casa De Perrin | rental: Town & Country Rentals | lighting: Images By Lighting | linen: La Tavola Fine Linen | linenResource One | DJ: Big Syphe | print & invitation: Lehr & Black | dessert: The Butter End Cakery | entertainment: West Coast Music

photographer: Chris and Ruth Photography

Dreamy Destination

From the half-pampas grass, half-greenery-adorned ceremonial arch framing the ocean, to the overlapping-rug aisle, there are so many elements of this Mexico-set wedding that we can’t stop talking about. The reception wowed with more nature-driven details like grass-woven chandeliers and chargers and pops of hot pink blooms.

photographer: Chris and Ruth Photography | planning & design: Gianna SanFillippo | florals: Maria Limon | venue: Nest Tulum | rentals: Archive Rentals

photographer: Clane Gessel Photography

Emerald Elegance

Emerald-inspired lucite chandeliers sparkle over a gleaming green-and-gold custom dance floor to dreamy effect at this intimate, extravagant celebration. We adore how every detail from the modern cake to the marbled chargers carry shades of the vibrant hue for a surprisingly elegant effect.

Bar & Bat Mitzvah Celebrations

photographer: Tripp Street Studio

The Party at the End of the Rainbow

This rainbow-hued Bat Mitzvah celebration conjured vivid ROYGBIV fun. Every vibrant, colorful design detail popped against the clear tent and white flooring — with rainbow fringe tassels, clouds of brightly-hued balloons, and colorful blooms creating a stunning, dreamy vision.

Glamour & Basketball Team Up

Coral and blush is always a chic combo — but add gold and basketball-themed elements, and you get one unique Bat Mitzvah celebration for a sports-loving girl. Cheerleaders and a custom ball-court dance floor furthered the sporty theme while coral and orange treats at the candy station and ombré florals added a healthy dose of glamour.

This Party is Our Happy Place

This Bat Mitzvah celebration was inspired by Happy Place — a roaming combination art installation and photo op that surrounds participants with all things happy-making. This blissful bash immersed partygoers in experiential sets and bright imagery that stretched from the entrance to creative tabletops.

Traveling Tea Party

This Tazo tea product launch was designed to encompass four regions of America — Northeast, Southwest, Midwest, and the Rocky Mountains. Lush florals, neon lucite cacti, a modern picket fence, and hundreds of suspended lemons created a unique celebration that took guests on an American adventure.

Branded Beauty Bash

Kiehls’ feel-good skincare line hosted this beautifully branded celebration featuring an oversized CalenduLAB cleanser bottle spilling a burst of glorious orange blooms. The event featured a series of fun photo spots including an upright bed symbolizing the product’s “softening and soothing” qualities.

photographer & venue: Union West | event planner, design, & production: David Stark Design and Production

Colorful Corporate Celebration

This “Work Hard, Play Hard” party utilized bursts of bright color and oversized interactive games to wow and engage guests. We love how inspirational messages and cool installations, like upended and suspended ice cream cones, are displayed in a rainbow of hues.

Gala & Fundraising Events

photographer Show Ready Photo

Color-Blocked Whimsy

With its bare Edison bulbs hanging from its clear tent ceiling and multi-colored table dressings, this gala looked as if a rainbow landed in California. We can’t get enough of the giant colorful heart décor and how even the chairs support the vibrant theming.

Magical Mash-Up

This gala seems to have sprung straight out of wonderland, with its mix of gilded birdcages and columns covered in vines, long winding tables, and disco-inspired centerpieces. Each table was created by a different team yet every fun little detail worked together to create a memorable — and meaningful — celebration.

Purpose-Driven Party

This fundraising gala for the Robin Hood Foundation focused on education with larger-than-life elements typically found in schools. Guests were greeted with a 13′ tall school-desk-inspired chair and walked past 5,000 colorful donated backpacks lining the hall, before encountering an oversized calculator and abacus.

Birthday Bashes

Valentines & Birthday Candles

This party celebrated two joyful occasions: Valentine’s Day and a 75th birthday. Rose-gold, pink, and red accents brought drama to the clear-tented space with a beautiful balloon installation and a lush floral wall.

Whimsy & Wonder

A mysterious and magical party celebrated a special one-year-old with a custom playing-card-printed dance floor, dramatic black-and-white striped table linen, and bright blue draping with floating bubble projections. We love how the whimsy extended to mini desserts presented in tiny glass cloches.

Fashionable Fête

It’s fitting that a celebration honoring the start of spring so beautifully displays nature’s bounty. The tables for this three-course meal were set with an ombré of fresh blooms which guests enjoyed from luxurious pastel velvet seating.

We are awed by how this centerpiece seems to organically rise from the table as if planted and blooming. Colorful cozy blankets showed extra consideration for every lucky guest at this dinner party.

9 Epic Art Basel Parties & Art-Inspired Soirées

Creatives, art aficionados, celebrities, and more flock to Art Basel in Miami Beach every December for a weekend of fashion, food, entertainment and, of course, art. With hundreds of installations, galleries, and artists to see come plenty of chic celebrations. Some are open to the public and some are extremely exclusive, but every installation and celebration is full of inspiration you can apply to your own events. From Art Basel parties and installations to events inspired by the works of the greats, scroll to see nine ways that life — and events — imitate art.

A Forest From the Future

THE TEMPLE HOUSE played host to one of our favorite installations from last year’s Art Basel. Artist Studio Swine created an immersive, multisensory installation which drew inspiration from the culture of Miami Beach. Whimsical, modern trees of white pipes and glowing bulbs were placed around THE TEMPLE HOUSE’s large event space. The trees generated bubbles that evaporated into a scented mist upon contact with skin. Guests used gloves sponsored by clothing brand COS to interact with the installation — a trendy fashion collaboration that’s perfectly at home at Art Basel.

When in the Wynwood Walls

MC&A planned a corporate event turned colorful wonderland in the Wynwood Walls of Miami with a spotlight on both fresh florals and food. Joy Wallace Catering stepped up their creative cuisine, serving homemade cocoa waffle ice cream cones, vegetarian tacos, and even a “spud mash” bar. We appreciate all of the art-inspired touches, including spin-art on plates and creative food displays, like this ladder installation.

Inspired by Miami

photographer: Kara Fein Photography

Vibiana’s Vibrant Makeover

This neon art gala at Los Angeles’ Vibiana was fully inspired by the flair and vibrancy of Miami. Planners at Bob Gail Events used lush green hedges by Lilla Bello, a splatter painted stage, and bright rentals from Blueprint Studios to recreate Miami’s Wynwood Walls.

photographer: Show Ready Photo

San Fran’s Got the Funk

San Francisco is a city full of funk and this character is captured at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This bright, bold event calls to mind the colorful walls of Wynwood in Miami, with its street-art-meets-masterpiece style. We personally love this installation where it looks like the backdrop is melting into the floor. Planned, designed, and rentals supplied by Blueprint Studios, it is no surprise this event caught our eye.

Modern Masters

Flashy Like Flavin

The 2019 Whitney Art Party at the Whitney Museum of American Art was a gorgeously iridescent affair. TINSEL Experiential planned and designed the gala in an artistic way, blending works of famous artists with trendy touches. The bubble gum pink photobooth by The Bosco calls to mind the work of Dan Flavin, who is well known for his neon art installations and his exploration of illuminated architecture.

photographer: Eli Turner Studios

Daring Haring Designs

Keith Haring’s “Acrobats” was the perfect pattern to incorporate at this modern Washington, D.C. Bat Mitzvah. Haring is a modern pop art and graffiti artist, whose work was popularized in urban NYC. Magnolia Bluebird design & events planned the hip celebration at the Newseum where tons of art references — like Campbell soup cans and Pollock-like splatter paint — filled the space. Syzygy tied all of the colorful masterpieces together with an incredible ombré lantern installation and bold furniture, while the AV and lighting pros at Frost DC provided appropriately dramatic uplighting and spotlights.

photographer: Michael Jurick Photography

Koons for the Kids

You’ll likely recognize this balloon dog figure popularized by contemporary artist Jeff Koons. We absolutely adore this kid friendly — yet extremely high-brow — Bat Mitzvah theme, planned and designed by the creatives of Anthony Taccetta Event Design. A red and yellow color palette brightened the Tribeca 360 space, which was filled with Koons-inspired structures. We love how this floral installation incorporates two of Koons’ most famous works, balloon animals, and the large scale “Puppy” at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

An Ode to the Icons

photographer: Jessica Thill

A Dalí Dreamscape

Surrealism was a 20th century avant-garde art movement theorized by André Breton, but it is more widely recognized through the dreamlike work of Salvador Dalí. The Haggerty Museum of Art channeled Dalí’s bizarre imagery of the random for their opening gala, planned by Lindsay Ruch, at the We Energies Building. Creative stylist Faith Wooden created the gala’s centerpieces with decorative objects from Relics Vintage Rentals, incorporating much of the mustached artist’s symbolism: clocks, winged objects, butterflies, and contorted facial features.

photographer: Osh Images

Pop Art Parties

We would be doing a disservice to the art world had we not included an event surrounding the luminary behind Pop Art, Andy Warhol. Though we’ve seen many events nodding to his work, this gala, planned and designed by TINSEL Experiential at the Whitney Museum of American Art, was actually celebrating the artist’s retrospective exhibit “Andy Warhol — From A to B and Back Again”. We love how vibrant poppy florals made up the gala’s centerpieces, an obvious reference to Warhol’s  “Poppies” series. Classic rentals by Party Rental Ltd. filled the rest of the tablescapes.
