That’s why each year our team combs through hundreds of real event albums added to PartySlate to find the hottest new theme ideas and inspiration.
This year, we’re sharing how your favorite deli sandwich can inspire a centerpiece, how AI can not only help with planning your party — but be the party theme itself — and not one, but two ways to make a Taylor Swift-themed party feel clever. So without further ado, discover 25 unique party theme ideas we love for 2025. Plus, tap into each event to see more photos, as well as the very vendors and venues that brought them to life.

Yeah baby. The concept of an Austin Powers-themed party may not be new, but this corporate event gave it a unique and imaginative perspective. The party’s innovative moments included an Austin Powers monument, King’s Guard photo ops, and groovy décor moments that transported guests back to the 60s. Not to mention, the clever menu names and serverware guests uncovered across the occasion.

Event inspiration — and lunch — is served. This deli-themed Bar Mitzvah put cozy cuisine at the forefront with delicatessen-inspired centerpieces, a take-out counter stocked with merch, and street view entrance-inspired stage. On the menu were classic deli dishes from pastrami sandwiches to New York famous black and white cookies, of course.
Meet us at this Midnight-themed Bat Mitzvah party. The Miami celebration took Taylor Swift’s second latest album and made it an entire event design. The album cover’s signature deep blue hues encapsulated every inch of the outdoor venue, from shades of blue sparkling off of mirrored furniture to neon ropes lighting up palm tree trunks. And we have to sing the praises of the midnight blue Shake Shack burger stand.
Bring the desert to you. This 60th birthday created a private “music festival” for friends and family thanks to an epic beach setup. The party décor was anything but dry, with luxe lounges built into the sand, an intricate laser cut DJ booth backdrop, a “main stage” inspired bar, and elaborate sea creature-inspired sand castles framing the scene.
Welcome to the future. It’s no secret AI has taken over. From professional to personal use cases, it seems everyone is getting on board with systems that will do the work for you. Rather than fight the change, this Bar Mitzvah celebrated it. The party infused artificial technology-inspired prints and details into its design. Then took it one step further by incorporating actual AI into the party space via large-scale screens and projections that ran throughout the night.

Welcome to 1942. Guests stepped out of Los Angeles and into Rick’s Café Américain at this Casablanca-themed birthday. The event design evoked nostalgic glamour and romance with velvet red draping, antique props, a 250 pound bronze orb, and tropical projection lighting that covered the venue from floor to ceiling, and As for the guest of honor? Here’s looking at you, kid.

The Irish countryside never looked better (even from Orlando). This birthday party was all about celebrating the guest of honor’s Irish heritage — and we love this theme idea for absolutely any culture. A few of our favorite moments include the floral sheep (yes, really) that popped up across the venue, and micro oak kegs that served as the perfect guest place cards. Not to mention, the monogrammed “pub” that celebrated the birthday boy — and offered guests endless spirits out of Ireland all night long. Now we understand why they call it the luck of the Irish.

Paint the town — whatever color you want. A fun-loving expression turned into a food-focused party theme at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Paint chips and color swatches lined catering stations, while apps were passed atop splattered serveware and next to colored paint cans. Waiters and waitresses wore paint splashed aprons and berets as guests dressed to impress in outfits inspired by their favorite art pieces. The best part? Each menu item was a work of art in itself, from artful hors’devours to painted macarons.

This one’s for the millennials. Take guests back to your favorite decade like this 2000s-themed birthday party. Guests arrived in their best bedazzled jeans and butterfly clips to find retro lockers, electric purple fringe, and neon pink furniture. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think we walked into Lizzie McGuire’s closet.

Take your garden party to the next level with an in-season veggie or fruit theme. That’s right, this summer dinner party was inspired solely by the host’s love of tomatoes. From vines of grape tomatoes dressing the bar to bowls of roma and cherry tomatoes on tabletops, guests were treated to the freshest of dinner designs — and menus. Dishes were infused with juicy tomatoes, of course, while the menu itself was scribed in a sundrenched tomato hue. All to say, we’re planting the seed for more produce-themed dinner parties this year.
photographers: Anna Anikina Photography & Dina Douglass | planner: Aliana Events | design & décor: Celio’s Design | venue: The Beverly Hills Hotel
A good party is often defined by its entertainment — and there’s nothing quite as entertaining as a Cirque du Soleil performance. Turn that into a theme and you’ve got an equally unique and epic event. This Bat Mitzvah evoked all the senses with immersive designs, photo ops, performances, and more. In true Cirque style, guests stepped right up to an imaginative circus, far from the traditional carnivals of the past. We would buy an entry ticket now if we could.
photographer: Caitlyn Guarano Photography | planner: Mostest | design & décor: Birch Event Design | venue: The Bowery Hotel
XOXO. Any Gossip Girl fan remembers the iconic masquerade ball episode — and this 21st birthday party made an entire party theme out of it. Decadent draping, a wall of chic eye masks, dripping hydrangea arrangements, and plenty of flickering candles set the scene for a moody, Manhattan-inspired night. Trust us, a unique party theme like this will appease even the pickiest of Upper East Siders.

Salvador Dali’s imaginative and bizarre artwork came to life at this 60th birthday dinner. A theme so funky, fresh, and clever we can’t believe we didn’t think of it ourselves. The dreamscape setting came to life with floral-bound frames quite literally framing tables, making the dinner itself a work of art. Funky furniture, place settings, and neon backdrops completed the eccentric celebration.

Who doesn’t love snack time? When this Bar Mitzvah planner asked the guest of honor what he likes as they brainstormed a party theme, he replied snacks — and the rest was history. The bodega-inspired celebration featured shelves of pantry items, a snack bar (of course), and passed apps including Ramen noodle cups and bags of french fries. Custom monogrammed boxes of cereal, cookies, crackers, and more propped photo ops and backed bars. Was this the best Bar Mitzvah menu ever? We imagine young guests thought so.
Are you ready for it? For Abby and Phil’s wedding welcome party, they greeted guests to their very own “eras tour” — symbolizing notable milestones and stages from their own love story. The experiential party theme took guests through time with cocktails and beverages, including a “freshman year” corner with red solo cup cocktails. To take the theme a step further, guests found themselves with backstage passes and personalized tour merchandise. We imagine this party theme will be remembered All Too Well.
From Dior to diapers, this expecting mom did not hold back when it came to an all-encompassing baby shower theme. The designer theme design was all in the details, from a “Parfumerie” to a “Fleurs” bar, and a pink-draped tent that set the scene. Not to mention, every element was covered in the party’s signature blush pattern — lamp shades, menus, charger plates — you name it, this team thought of it. Our favorite part might have to be the passed pink mocktails, or maybe the designer pink chocolate covered strawberries.

“The team. The team. The team.” That may be Michigan football’s motto, but it’s also the secret to the perfect themed party. Having an incredible vendor team behind you is the difference between a memorable party and an underwhelming event. This Michigan football-themed Bar Mitzvah was perfectly executed, from mini helmet and foam finger-lined tablescapes to catering moments decked out in the school’s symbolic Maize and Blue hues. When it comes to a creative party theme, leveraging your favorite team is always a win.

Palm Beach inspiration was all the rage last year thanks to Kristin Wig’s iconic performance in Palm Royale. And with season 2 already in the making it’s no surprise that the glamorous town is still a hot topic — and party theme. This milestone birthday party not only took inspiration from the hit series, but also The Colony Palm Beach, a boutique hotel known for coating every inch of its spaces and rooms in the destination’s iconic pink and green palette. The theme pairs retro moments inspired by the show with glamorous hotel details, including a room key wall in place of a classic seating chart.

Is pickleball becoming America’s pastime? The the paddle sport has skyrocketed in popularity — and will certainly be an epic party theme in 2025. This networking event gets major points for making a country club green spritz wall, pickleball paddle wall photo op, and a paddle backdrop behind the bar. Throw in an actual pickleball court for guests to play and you’ve served up the perfect experiential party theme.

The first Monday in May is iconic for a reason. The annual MET Gala is host to some of the best red carpet fashion moments of the entire year —which made it the perfect inspiration for this Vogue-worthy wedding. Red hot mannequins were sprawled around the reception space along with fashion-forward floral moments and A-list worthy designs. Lucky invitees were certainly in for an experiential treat. Who doesn’t love a themed wedding?
Our kind of vacation. A sweet tooth-inspired hotel was the concept of this milestone birthday party — and the proof is in the pudding (and the rows of cakes, and the shelves of ice cream, and the tiers of macarons). The innovative celebration shows you can make a unique party theme out of anything — including your love of a decadent dessert. From a sprinkle donut bathroom mirror to a cotton candy photo booth, our mouths are watering at every sugar-inspired corner.

“Just fold it in!” Schitt’s Creek may be over, but the love for its 80 episodes will never fade. This wedding after party took inspiration from the couple’s favorite series — and of course, their favorite character Moira Rose. “Moira’s Wig Bar” was the perfect way to make a unique party theme moment an experience for guests — even if they don’t appreciate the brilliantly selfish character that is Moira, they can still enjoy her need to have a wig for every occasion.
A sweet bridal shower deserves an adorable theme, and this “She’s off the market” celebration was as clever as it is cute. As a prequel to the bride’s upcoming Lake Como wedding, the shower brought inspiration from Italian markets to the table. Fresh flowers emerged from ceramic colanders, while fresh focaccia filled plates. Caterpillar tablescapes, striped signage, and citrus details were just the cherry on top.

Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday Lily Collins as Emily was starting her journey to Paris on the Netflix show Emily in Paris, and now the series is renewed for a 5th season. Bat Mitzvah guest of honor Emelie used the series’ lasting success to her advantage by making it an entire party theme — and casting herself as the main character, of course. Street performers, French cafes, macaron carts, and a floral Eiffel Tower were just a few of the elements that transported guests from New York to the capital of France.
Where there’s a classic saying, there’s a party theme. The theme of this baby shower? ”On Cloud 9.” The party’s inspiration is clear as day thanks to ethereal white drapery decorated by overhead clouds, sky blue velvet chairs, and white floral tablescapes. Meanwhile, plush white lounges with comfortable cushioned couches left guests feeling like they were floating on clouds. The dessert bar was another slice of heaven, with sky-inspired confections from delicate cookies to exquisite cake pops. When it comes to unique party themes, the sky is truly the limit.

This indoor forest wedding from Colin Cowie Lifestyle proves that you don’t need fresh air for a fresh affair. The urban setting is an unexpected locale for such a lush vision, which the team brought to every tabletop with unique woodsy greenery.
The idea of dinner paired with a live show isn’t new, but at weddings and parties, those elements are usually separated — a seated meal followed by guests standing at the edge of the dance floor to watch a a performance. We love that, recently, we’ve been seeing more wow entertainment moments unfold during dinner, allowing every guest a good view from a comfortable spot.
This Broadway-loving couple was surprised by a medley that included songs from Hamilton, Wicked, Kinky Boots and more — all with custom lyrics to honor their love. The dinner performances, including creative drag queen interpretations of their favorite shows, delighted guests at the four-day affair.

Fashion runways naturally direct all eyes towards the models showing the latest styles, so it makes perfect sense to create a runway aisle to direct all guests’ attention to a dramatic wedding entrance. It’s a creative and chic layout.

This wedding’s combination of stark black seating and white florals flanking its runway aisle is style personified. The ceremony’s elegance carried over to the richly appointed reception.
This luxurious all-white ceremony’s runway aisle is a standout feature with its mirrored floor reflecting and enhancing the grandeur of the surroundings. The aisle is both functional and a statement centerpiece of this memorable multi-day wedding.
We are so happy that iridescent is showing up at events again. The complex hue is at once pink, blue, purple — and always shiny. In short, it makes every party feel more festive.
photographer: John & Joseph Photography | event planner: Audrey W Events
Los Angeles, CA
This first anniversary party brought iridescent glamour to every element, from the towering welcome arch to the lighting, menus, and even dance floor. John & Joseph Photography captured every shiny moment, including the cake which recreated the iridescent vibe in frosting form.
White weddings are as classic as it gets. And tents have been serving as chic event settings for a long while. But savvy couples are reimagining both with clever twists on tradition.
Images By Lighting created a unique vision by leveraging projection mapping to display a pattern onto this towering tent. The team took a blank white surface and transformed it with light against mountains and the night sky.
This oceanfront wedding was the epitome of elegance, with cream and sand tones mixed with rich greenery. However, the pleated draping on the ceiling of the waterside tent is a wow factor unlike any we’ve seen.
“There will be more focus on textures, colors, and patterns to help subtly tie together event themes, especially through linen options,” says Julie Walter of Paramount Events, a top caterer and part of The Paramount Group. At PartySlate, we are seeing a trend toward maximalist tabletops, blending patterns and hues with abandon — and we love the joyful vibe.

Every element on the table of this bright wedding created a cheerful aesthetic. From the bright red tassels and striped ribbon to the stacked chargers and plates that offer rounded shapes to offset the sharp stripes on the tabletop.

Richmond, VA
Something Vintage Rentals ensured that every table at this midsummer party had its own unique vibe. Each setting is a study in maximalism beauty with opposing patterns and vintage accoutrement that work together for unique and varied aesthetics.
Fashion has ushered in the era of stripes. Classic on their own, stripes can create a preppy vibe or a dramatic vision. Mix stripes with other patterns for an aesthetic that is all your own. Stripes might be the most versatile print we’ve seen.
Black and white palettes are always in style and this striped tent embodies joyful elegance. The grooms’ classic tuxedos further the pairing, which was rounded out by rich greens and peach florals.
This delightful summer birthday party took its cue from Mother Nature, with lemon hues infusing every detail. The striped, billowing drapery complemented the striped linen, both of which created a playful vibe. Don’t miss the lively puppy petting zoo and roller rink.

The custom-made cocktail bar featured hand-painted flowers and ethereal hummingbirds perched or mid-flight. Don’t miss the Taylor Swift-themed afterparty.
These cocktails follow the same principals as steeping tea or making pour-over coffee — and they are a show-stopper. Cocktail caterers are taking glass cones filled with dried flowers, herbs, and/or fruit then pouring liquor through the botanicals for naturally-flavored cocktails. These sips often feature bright colors infused by the specific combination of botanicals used.
This fairytale wedding wowed with unique décor and creative cocktails. Guests were able to see their cocktails infused live, resulting in vibrant hot pink sips. Click to see the unique floral ceiling installations from Fresh Designs: Flora and Events that launched trends earlier in the year.

Their food and drink stations included a citrus station called Zest + Zing with orange-infused espresso martinis created by a live pour-over, resulting in rich flavors and a beautiful display.
We love how making lounge spaces a priority at an event makes guest connection a priority too, as the setups make it easy to sit and talk. “One trend is clear: couples are embracing cozy, semi-permanent lounge setups that bring a living-room ambiance into wedding venues,” shares Manny Martinez and of Event Source | Panache Events.
This wedding gathering made guests feel at home with luxury design, custom furniture, décor, and draping — all of which worked together to create a welcome aesthetic. We love how the sectionals allow big groups to gather in a more casual way.
“Guests gravitate toward spaces that invite relaxation and mingling, featuring stylish arrangements of plush sofas, accent chairs, layered rugs, and elegant side tables. These setups not only add warmth but also create designated areas for guests to connect, offering a unique balance of sophistication and comfort,” says Jessa Hochman of Event Source | Panache Events.
Place cards have undergone an evolution over the years. From tables of escort cards (as it was when I got married 26 years ago) to calligraphic seating charts to even more creative installations like place cards suspended from trees or seating assignments as garnishes for full glasses of Champagne. And all of those are still going strong, but we love the new, very personal, direction the trend is taking now: gallery walls.

Yes, you can serve fare on plates, it works. But think about how handy take-out containers are for holding and eating. Consider theming the containers to your event, utilizing your palette or design, or adding personalization like a quote or monogram. Or imagine coordinating containers with the type of fare: Chinese take-out boxes, mini pizza boxes, and so on.

From locally-sourced fare and LEED-certified venues to post-party food and flower donations, couples and hosts are attempting to minimize their event’s footprint on our planet. Drapery has gone dreamy. It’s not blocking out light or hiding an unattractive wall; instead light, gauzy fabrics are being draped from ceilings to soften rooms and create a fanciful vision. Celebrity event planner, Mindy Weiss of Mindy Weiss Party Consultants shared, “We’re seeing a lot of draping with what I would call ‘pick-ups’ — it’s much more romantic, it’s not straight. You can make it billowy.”

Cheers to Veuve Clicquot
Every detail of this one-of-a-kind baby shower, from the butterfly-adorned glassware to the bespoke cocktails, has us in the mood to toast. We especially admire the lucite tablescape “floating” on stands of greenery and Champagne.

Off to the Races
This equestrian-themed baby shower wows with so many unique details. Some of our favorite themed moments include the horse-shaped stir sticks, vintage carousel statue, and horse-shoe napkin rings.
It’s easy to treasure every detail of this dreamy blue baby shower. We love how this treasure motif comes to life with glittering gold signage, gold drink stirrers, and ornate place settings. A golden dessert cart paired beautifully with a sleek Champagne wall, as well. Make sure to also check out the ethereal cake with wisps of blue icing and edible gold leaf.

With Sprinkles on Top
We are in love with this ice cream-themed baby shower. Sprinkle-filled candle holders and colorful blooms pop against the cream-colored linen and drapery. Jewel-toned balloons evoke scoops of mouthwatering ice cream, while water-color activity sets give guests a chance to add their own sprinkling of colors to the celebration at hand.
What happens when you fuse gymnast Barbie, bright pink florals, and exercise equipment? You get a colorful and fun-filled baby shower. We love all of the playful elements at this outdoor celebration. Even the chiavari chairs add a touch of whimsy with their lime green and pink coloring.

Bridgerton Inspiration
This Bridgerton-inspired baby shower wows with stunning blue tablescapes, gilded printed materials, and a luxe balloon installation. Even the cake has us swooning with its frosted picture of the mom-to-be. Trust us, you have to see it to believe it.
This colorful baby shower transports us to the magical world of Super Mario Brothers with its on-theme décor and catering. Even the DJ booth felt straight out of our favorite video game.

Bright and Bold
This South Asian baby shower wows from start to finish. From jewel-tone florals to gold chargers, every detail is bold and beautiful. We also love how colorful throw pillows bring additional glamour (and comfort) to the luxe banquet area.
photography: Jonica Moore Studio | planner & design: Color Pop Events | décor: Oh Happy Day Shop | venue: Sky Gallery | event design & photo booth: Michelle Bablo
Pop Art Pizzazz
A Pop Art-inspired theme made this baby shower as artistic as can be. Dazzling colors, be it food or décor, popped against the all-white raw space. We especially love the “Pop the Bubbly” bar cart.
While there are no fixed rules when it comes to planning any celebration, baby shower themes add instant festivity to your celebration. Moreover, an imaginative theme will tie elements like décor and catering seamlessly together.
Party themes are also a great way to personalize your celebration. After all, this baby shower is meant to celebrate a growing family. Capturing and celebrating the personalities of the parents-to-be makes it even more memorable. You can draw on everything from a favorite book, color, or hobby to create a fun-filled party that captures their unique style and personality.

Plus, the space can easily be configured for any style. “Some of my favorite venue transformations have been a Barbie Land holiday party, a mini football field in the center of the room, and of course, a speakeasy experience with a secret entrance through a refrigerator!” Sassano says. “There is no limit to the creativity our clients bring to the space, and we love it!”
Below, you can see the event space in its natural state. Keep reading to see three unique transformations that are possible with this versatile venue.
When it comes to a fun party theme, color and lighting are always an asset. Projections screens of close-up chandelier shots or diamond cascades can add additional sparkle to your event. Pink uplighting and custom pink graphics keep it playful, while gold fixtures and furnishings exude sophistication and glamour. There’s no shortage of ways to layer color, lighting, and texture into a Bat Mitzvah or other type of celebration at Lavan 641 Midtown.
“Lavan 641 Midtown is an event designer’s dream,” Sassano shares. “Its interior is a modern, high-tech white canvas with ample space to design any type of event environment. The Main Room boasts 20-foot-high ceilings surrounded by 180 degrees of seamless projection mapping.”
Everyone loves a little funk — and a great disco party theme. Lavan 641 Midtown is a blank canvas that easily accommodates a psychedelic ambiance. Rigging systems allow for disco ball installations and aerial performances. Moreover, LED panels offer the opportunity to drench the space in bright, iridescent colors.
Retro-themed parties transport your guests to another era. A venue with innovative lighting, sound, and video technology, like Lavan 641 Midtown, makes it easy to create an immersive experience.
“Our fabulous projection mapping allows the entire space to be transformed into any type of visual, providing our clients a digital canvas to decorate their event,” Sassano tells us.
For a more sophisticated look, opt for a sleek black and white color palette. Choose minimalist furnishings that let the grandeur of the modern industrial space shine. Utilize a flexible floor plan to create custom installations like an LED entryway or multiple photo ops. Create muted but elegant backdrops with geometric projection mapping in subtle shades of gray. Lavan 641 Midtown spacious layout makes it easy to curate a seamless event flow — so guests can choose between networking, dancing, or lounging against a black-and-white cityscape backdrop.
“Our space is unique not only because of the extensive built-in AV, but also because it was designed by event professionals for event professionals,” Sassano says. That makes it easy for talented vendors to transform the space for any party theme. No matter what you envision, it can become a reality with this remarkable venue.

Welcome to spring: a season defined by longer days, warmer weather — and a surge of celebrations. As 2024’s heightened wedding and event season kicks off, new seasonal trends are emerging alongside it.
Like any spring clean up, it’s out with the old and in with the new. Party hosts and guests alike are craving fresh spring wedding ideas, seasonal party inspiration, and crisp color palettes. We’ve rounded up the 13 trends you’re going to see everywhere over the coming months — and will want to adopt for your own occasion.
From the runways to ceremony aisles, icy blue hues are going to be popular all season long. Not to be mistaken for classic or preppy blue palettes, this color scheme will reinvent how we picture blue at a spring wedding or event. While these icy blue moments can vary in shade, their overall tone brings a cool presence to a warm spring day.
When it comes to creating a memorable design, sometimes less is more. Nothing makes that more clear than a sheer décor moment. Acrylic menus, engraved cocktails, or even a glass place card cloche can make ordinary event elements feel elevated and exciting — not to mention, perfectly light and airy for spring.
Smooth like butter, this soft shade of yellow is finally getting its day in the sun — and we can’t wait to start churning out inspiration. From photo ops to floral notes and monochromatic bouquets, you can expect to see the subtle yet stimulating hue go from background color to starring role in 2024 palettes.
Formally associated with bohemian weddings and events, fringe is back. However, it’s swapping its boho reputation for a place in the Western world. This new take on fringe makes the perfect statement piece from above or below, with layers that resemble the fringe angled on a denim jacket or Western pants. If the release of Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” taught us anything, it’s that country aesthetics are most certainly peaking.
Over the past year, we’ve seen an influx in weaving wedding aisles. So it was only a matter of time before we saw the serpentine table trend slide back into action (something we haven’t seen trending since 2019). This time around, designers are putting a mix of rounds together to resemble one long winding tablescape. The compact look can be further exaggerated by alternating each table’s linen pattern or color.
Experiential entertainment doesn’t have to be music. We’ve seen permanent jewelry stations and tattoo artists surprise guests at celebrations of all kinds. This season, people planning events are getting even more creative. Depending on the theme of an event, guests might receive luggage tags, passport holders, small bags, or useful items for spring and summer to customize with on-site embossers. Keepsakes you’ll remember forever aren’t just party favors — they make for memorable party experiences.
Say goodbye to Barbie, and hello to your old Polly Pocket. From fashion to fêtes, Polly Pocket palettes are about to saturate spring with flirtatious tones and vibrant color schemes. Think of color blocking — but you can only use bright neon shades and sharp borders. Fun and fresh, this spring style reminds us that popular trends can come from even the smallest sources of inspiration.
Have you heard? Drum solos are becoming the main event. Spring occasions like showers, birthdays, and corporate gatherings — where guests want to mingle and be able to hear one another — are the perfect time for mood-setting background music. The sound of drums evokes a tropical feeling, perfect for warm-weather occasions and outdoor soirées.
Billowing drapery is about to be the ceiling installation of the season. Forget foliage and florals; fabric offers a versatile and eye-catching way to decorate from above. From eclectic folds to orderly arrangements, and neutral tones to pops of color, draping your venue’s ceiling is the perfect way to add originality to a spring wedding or event. Trust us, your guests will be looking up all night.
We know what you’re thinking: “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking….” However, long stem roses stand apart from your average spring flower. Forget tulips, daffodils, lilacs, peonies, and other traditional, dainty spring botanicals. Instead, lean into roses in their most rugged form. Keep the thorns, leaves, and length — and you’ve got a chic arrangement for a 2024 spring wedding idea.
Bouquet baskets are exactly as they sound. These spring-forward floral vessels, specifically designed for wedding party bouquets, add seasonal style to weddings and portraits. As more couples opt for wedding party members to choose their own attire, bouquet baskets provide a clear constant between your loved ones — balancing out photos and making your wedding party look more cohesive.
We like our spring centerpieces like we like our dinner plates — packed to the brim. Heavily decorated centerpieces — low in height with lots of depth — are taking over. Whether it’s an all-candle clad arrangement like this viral setup, or a floral-filled tablescape that spans the furniture’s length and width, this new take on centerpiece design is making more room for conversation about (and across) the table.
We all know the feeling of leaving a party and immediately ordering a late night bite for delivery. Instead of offering guests hangover kits or other frequently seen favors, give them what they really want: a second meal. Make it to-go, from a bagel and cream cheese bag to custom-boxed burgers and pizza. Your guests won’t forget that final farewell in the form of food.

Where can I find more party inspiration?
The editorial team at PartySlate spends a good portion of its day looking through thousands of real events. We look for the best party trends — as well as unique ideas that are bound to stand the test of time. We’re talking party decorations, catering offerings, one-of-a-kind entertainment options, and more. Click below to see some of our favorite party inspiration for 2024 and beyond.
As a content creator at PartySlate, I’ve seen it all. From extravagant weddings to creative birthday parties, it’s clear that party hosts want their events to stand out from all others. I’ve spent over five years sifting through the most stunning of occasions, from the most talented vendors and sought-after venues, and have come to the conclusion that there is one sure-fire way to make your moments memorable — and that’s with a unique party theme.
With years of PartySlate’s real wedding and event inspiration ingrained in my memory, I decided to incorporate a unique party theme into my own recent wedding. We did so by surprising guests with a Michigan-themed after-party, as a nod to where my husband and I met (see #16 below). So you can trust me when I say that creative themes create the most memorable party experiences.
But how do you come up with a party theme that your guests haven’t seen before? That’s where we come in. Hundreds of thousands of real wedding and event photos are added to PartySlate each year — while we have our eyes peeled for the most innovative ideas — and they just keep getting better. Whether you’ve been waiting for this list after loving those of the past (2023’s themes are still gems), or whether you are new to the party, enjoy 24 of the most unique party theme ideas for 2024.
1. Garden Disco Party Theme
photographer: Shauna & Gordon | event planner: GLDN Events | floral & décor: The Special Event Resource and Design Group | venue: The Colony Palm Beach | entertainment: Rock With U
The first theme on our list should come as no surprise. Garden disco has already gained traction, thanks to its shiny appeal and bold botanicals. While disco itself made a comeback years ago — proving mirrored balls will always stand the test of time — party hosts are getting more creative with the popular party theme. By pairing disco with garden-inspired palettes, fresh floral installations, and a dainty aesthetic, you get a unique combination that wouldn’t have been associated together otherwise — as seen at this Bat Mitzvah party at The Colony Palm Beach.
Ah to be a guest at this backyard birthday, catered by Foxtail Catering & Events. The guest of honor committed to saying “yes” to every funky idea presented to him throughout the planning process, and deemed the occasion “The Big Yes” party. Yes, you read that right. The results included candy castles, ribbon bars, neon busts, graffiti tuxedos, laser shows, bubble machines, and Korean fried rice. If we learned anything from this quirky celebration, it’s to just say yes in 2024. Better yet, make “yes” your unique party theme.
photographer: Cedar & Pine Events | event planner: Table 6 Productions – Colorado | florist: Olive & Poppy | venue: Devil’s Thumb Ranch
Dark and mysterious meets boots and embroidery with one of the hottest themes for 2024: Western Goth. The new style is on the rise — and model Taylor Hill and her husband Daniel showed there’s no better place for it than a Colorado wedding. The couple’s planner, Table 6 Productions – Colorado, combined the starkly different aesthetics seamlessly, with a moody purple ceremony, sprawling Western backdrop, and intricately designed reception.
Designer-themed celebrations aren’t a new revelation — but focusing on one specific product or designer’s line offers a unique twist to a fashionable fête. In this case, the baby shower was all about Gucci’s Flora perfume and its gorgeous packaging. Every inch of the gathering reflected the line’s pastel prints, floral patterns, and serene aesthetic. Not to mention, the chicest, designer-worthy catering by Hedrick’s Catering & Events — including a condiment bottle wall and pastel “bun in the oven” burgers.

You may have heard of coastal grandma style in fashion, home décor — and now events. The fad has become a unique party theme, and this one is all about curating a classic design. Think dainty furniture, preppy palettes, fresh flower baskets, lots of airy linens, and rattan accents. Add anything you’d find in your grandmother’s house to top it off, and you’ve got the perfect themed celebration. From baby showers and wedding showers to dinner parties, like this poolside soirée planned by KG Events & Design, the coastal grandma aesthetic is aging beautifully into 2024.
photographer: Shaimma Photography | planner & design: Events by Picnics In The City | caterer: Hedrick’s Catering & Events
Golf parties just got a whole lot better. This company opening party, planned by Events by Picnics In The City, was centered around the iconic Masters Tournament, famously known as “a tradition unlike any other ” — and it was certainly unlike any other golf theme that we’ve seen. The corporate event executed the Masters Tournament theme to a tee from design and décor to mouthwatering menu moments by Hedrick’s Catering & Events. The party palette was inspired by the iconic Masters green jacket, with the recognizable hue covering furniture, backdrops, and even burgers. Servers passed bite-sized snacks in caddy jumpsuits, as guests enjoyed putt putt, indoor golf simulators, and more.
photographer: Kelly Brown Photography | event planner: Mae and Co Creative | venue: Amangiri | rentals: Casa De Perrin
Everything old is new again. The saying never held truer than for Marie Antoinette-themed parties as they soar back into the spotlight. The first night of this bachelorette weekend was a royal success, teeming with Rococo fashion and the most opulent rentals by Casa De Perrin and Hensley Event Resources. Scroll-inspired place cards, luxurious textured linen, a lavish spread of al fresco chandeliers, and high-to-low floral arrangements created the perfect setting reminiscent of the late Queen and her grandiose style.
Set the scene of your 2024 party in 2D. Cartoon-inspired backdrops are having their biggest moment yet (and their sketches are always on point). The black and white illusion-style drawings offer more than just backdrops. This drawing room-themed birthday party, designed by Joe Mineo Creative, had 2D curtains, chandeliers, centerpiece vases, and place settings. Consider the unique party theme a blank canvas for the sharpest of thinkers.
photographer: Sunny Kim Photography | event planner: Sky Meadow Place | venue: Private Residence
The magic of 2D is the ability to have two themes in one. This Los Angeles birthday party, planned by Sky Meadow Place, took the 2D party motif and combined it with a theme about the city itself, using Los Angeles’ most recognizable landmarks and hot spots as décor. The results are a Hollywood dream come true with nods to Universal Studios’ lot entrance, “In-N-Out” signage, the Santa Monica pier, Hollywood observatory, LAX, and more. The California love is clear, and you can do the same for your own favorite city or state.

Wes Anderson-inspired films have taken TikTok by storm, with users re-creating his imaginative, colorful, eccentric, and nostalgic style in their own videos. This Austin-based couple took the filmmaker’s aesthetic off of iPhones and movie screens, and into real life, with a saturated wedding day, planned by Epoch Co+. Bright floral arrangements, a colorful patterned aisle runner, vivid linen, rich tablescapes, and more filled their themed ceremony and reception. This unique party theme would also work wonders at a milestone birthday, celebratory shower, or holiday party.
Make Veuve Clicquot’s famous Polo Classic your own like Ricot did at his birthday soirée. This unique party theme is perfect for summer gatherings with fashion at the forefront — and, of course, the brand’s classic orange hue setting the scene. Fresh florals, vibrant place settings, and playful signage by Sweet Gifts Balloons & Events made the tented occasion pop. If you love a monochrome palette (and Champagne), a Polo Classic theme is for you. Get even more inspiration from the famous Veuve event itself — the brand’s 2019, 2021, and 2023 events are a sight for sore eyes.

Up in the sky — or down at your venue, travel-themed parties have become first class ventures. The inspiration from this B’Nai Mitzvah, planned by Hollywood POP Gallery, landed in our 2024 unique party themes list for good reasons. Right off the bat, this party wowed guests with a runway-inspired entrance, tunneling guests straight into the reception’s tented airspace. The guest-of-honor had a couch reserved in the “VIP skylounge,” after being greeted by flight attendants and a dapper pilot, of course. We’ve never envied an evening of travel quite like this one.
A unique theme with a built-in activity is a win in our books, especially when it’s for little ones. This all-pink birthday party, catered by Hedrick’s Catering & Events, re-created the scenes of a French patisserie, with sweets and decadent pastries lining the windowshop-inspired backdrops. As if a grab-and-go strawberry colander wall isn’t cute enough, the celebration included a 3-tiered, heart-shaped cake for each young guest to decorate at their seat.

Your favorite, famous song lyrics — but make it a unique party theme. That’s exactly what Lucy did at her New York City Bat Mitzvah party — with event planner Sidekick Events creating a sky of diamonds and disco balls at the center of a beautifully designed ballroom. Creative party ideas like this one are music to our ears. Next up, we’d like to see a Beatles’ event designed around “Strawberry Fields.” Who’s up for the challenge?
We’ve covered filmmakers and famous song lyrics, but we couldn’t leave out the idea of recreating your favorite kids’ movie — especially a Disney feature like Encanto. Athena’s 1st birthday party did just that, bringing her favorite movie setting, soundtrack, and even characters to her very own backyard for an off-screen celebration, beautifully captured by MICHELLE FLORES PHOTOGRAPHY. We love a party with a beautiful design — and a beautiful message (Encanto viewers know the one).

Next up on the list: a school-themed celebration. Amanda and Ryan kicked it off with a University of Michigan-inspired after-party at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. A block M vinyl on the dance floor, elevated surfaces reminiscent of a Big 10 tailgate, Michigan football sayings-turned-neon signage, and maize and blue lighting filled the room — creating the ultimate themed setting. Try it with your own school for a note-worthy night.

Whether you’re a history buff or simply love a creative party theme, take notes from Elias’s “Jewish Geniuses” Bar Mitzvah party, planned by Alexandra Partow Events. The event celebrated prominent Jewish icons from Albert Einstein to Ruth Bader Ginsberg, with figurehead table numbers, photo composites, and interactive entertainment. This unique party theme can serve as inspiration for any culture or historical topic that celebrates famous thinkers, writers, scientists, athletes, and more.

When a brand has a logo and aesthetic as recognizable as Vans, it’s safe to say that you can pull off an inspired party theme around it. We guarantee that your guests have never been to a party that’s all about a shoe manufacturing company, making it a must-add to the unique party themes list. Beau’s 1st birthday, beautifully captured by Alyssa Hunter Photography, embraced the skateboarding culture that surrounds Vans, with “One Happy Dude” signage and the company’s casual-chic checkered prints covering cakes, backdrops, and place settings. As the Van’s marketing team would want us to say, this party was certainly “Off the Wall.”

It doesn’t get much more creative than a “Mr. 305” party theme. Mr. 305 is the self proclaimed nickname of Pitbull (a mainstream rapper, singer, and songwriter). Pitbull is well known for living in, and loving, the city of Miami. Enter: a creative idea for Miami celebrations. Noah’s luxe South Florida Bar Mitzvah party, planned by Chris Weinberg Events, was all-things “Mr. 305.” Neon lights, tropical décor elements, and a mix of live instruments and a DJ created the ultimate party in the city where the heat is on.

This one’s a page-turner. One of the most notable children’s books, “Where the Wild Things Are,” was brought to life at a Santa Barbara fundraiser — but with a twist. The event used the tagline “Where the Wild Things Grow” for an evening supporting biodiverse ecosystems and habitats. The occasion was oozing with rare plant species, herb-infused cocktails, and dinner amongst the agaves. We especially love the earthy green lounge area by Found Rental Co. Needless to say, literature can inspire the most lively of parties.
Pickleball’s growing popularity is undeniable — and destined to be a guest-favorite party theme. This corporate event made the sport a whole aesthetic, with healthy crudité cups and vitamin-packed plates from Unique Catering Design to snack on between sets. If the idea of a pickleball event excites you, explore 9 more country club-inspired themes for the perfect, preppy party.

Swan Lake and Black Swan-themed parties surged in 2010 thanks to Mila Cunis and Natalie Portman — and just like many other themes from years past, this one is making a comeback (sans the dark storyline). Ethereal Swan Lake designs like this baby shower, beautifully captured by Chris Joriann Photography, are blooming, and feather-inspired textures across floral arrangements and cakes are just one reason we’re on board to see more.

Step right up to see one of the most enticing themes on the list. Swapping the circus for a “dark circus” isn’t limited to Halloween. In fact, we’re going to see themed parties like Julie’s 50th birthday, planned by Wife of the Party, all year round. Circus-related themes aren’t just about the design — the interactive elements are of the utmost importance, from fortune tellers to immersive performers and even a custom fun house.

We are royally impressed with Olivia and Grace’s coronation day-themed birthday party. British flags, King’s Guard performers, and even a pair of corgis (reminiscent of the late Queen’s famous pets) took this indoor-outdoor occasion to the next level. A UK-influenced menu by Hedrick’s Catering & Events, including mini tea sandwiches, was passed around, while guests posed in front of a London-inspired red telephone booth. And we can’t forget the afternoon tea station — nor can you if you opt for a royal theme of your own.
Party themes are personal. When choosing a party theme, your choice should reflect the event host or guest of honor’s unique personality. Start by considering their hobbies, favorite season, or even their favorite song. What we’ve learned with the list above is that you can truly make a party theme out of anything. The world is your oyster (seafood theme, anyone?).
With so many party theme ideas to choose from, it can be daunting to narrow in on just one topic. PartySlate’s theme guide is the perfect place to start browsing options and decide on a favorite.

How do I find a party venue?
It’s important to know what you’re looking for in an event space before you start your venue search. You should have a general idea of your guest count, weather conditions around that time of year, parking or valet capabilities, location preferences, in-house catering needs, and the list goes on.
With PartySlate’s venue directory, you can filter with all of those needs in mind (and more). From setting type (that ranges from restaurants to raw spaces), capacity, and amenities, you can get curated results to cut down your search time, and send direct messages to your favorites.
