The Future of Destination Events with Colin Cowie [Recap & Video]

PartySlate Founder and CEO Julie Roth Novack sat down with International Event Planner Colin Cowie and Managing Editor Pamela Rothbard to discuss the state of destination events for 2021. Colin, founder of Colin Cowie Lifestyle, plans and designs destination weddings and events — with a focus on epic décor and transformative spaces that reflect the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The panel began by discussing the appeal of destination weddings and events. A destination event “is not just an event,” Colin tells us. “It’s a statement of style.” He goes on to say, “It’s much more meaningful over a period of a weekend where guests can share quality time together.” 

For events in the future, he says that party hosts will have a whole new level of responsibility. They need to be part of the collaboration on safety and precaution. He also thinks that domestic destinations will become more popular since people can travel by car and support their local economy in the process. 

While Colin can’t say for sure what the future of destination events will look like, he knows that we have to keep moving forward. Events will inevitably look different post-pandemic, and we will continue to learn more as time goes on. One thing is certain, however. Colin knows to keep looking ahead and be grateful for the opportunities of the present moment.
