Candlelight illuminates wine-barrel cocktail tables while floor-to-ceiling wine barrels create a sensational backdrop that’s perfect for photo ops. On Monday, April 3rd, leading non-profit event professionals and skilled fundraising strategists gathered in the stunning Hall des Lumières to celebrate 2023’s New York City Non-Profits Night Out (NPNO). “True to the original mission of NPNO,” event Co-founder Reed Baker explains, “those who host, plan, produce, and support nearly all of the preeminent fundraising events in New York have a night to mingle with each other and enjoy an event solely in their honor. The ambience is meant to reverberate gratitude and fuel inspiration.”
Non-Profits Night Out (NPNO) was founded by Reed Baker of Sophist and Steve Paster of Alpine Creative Group. The aim of the event is twofold: bringing attention to the groundbreaking work of nonprofit organizations while also giving industry players the opportunity to build connections and enjoy a fun-filled evening. According to Baker, the co-founders “have watched their NPNO experiment catch fire over the past half-decade, due in great part to the many dynamic vendor partners willing to donate their best work and put it on display for scores of elite fundraising event professionals.”
PartySlate was honored to collaborate once again with this skilled event team as a media sponsor. We love shining a light on nonprofit organizations as well as offering them unmatched inspiration, tips, vendors, and venues for their upcoming fundraisers, and NPNO always wows us.
Last year, NPNO introduced the Essence of Philanthropy Award, an accolade bestowed upon an individual whose philanthropic mission and leadership have proven integral and aspirational to the nonprofit community. 2023’s deserving recipient was a soon-to-be NFL cornerback Darrelle Revis. The NFL Hall of Fame inductee has championed the fight against childhood hunger in America through The Darrelle Revis Foundation. In addition to educating children on the importance of healthy eating and activity, the organization distributes “Power Paks” of nutritious food and beverages to children without food security.
The most basic building block of a successful fundraiser is its venue, and Hall Des Lumières made for the perfect setting. The venue’s structural beauty is amplified by high-resolution projection mapping, which allows for immersive visual experiences on every wall, floor, and ceiling. “Alexandra Reiss and the Hall Des Lumières team brought the full scope of their venue’s capabilities to bear,” Baker says. “The NYC skyline, jungle, and even Van Gogh-themed video-mapping shocked and amazed our guests.” This space is unique in that the venue, in and of itself, can act as entertainment — making it the perfect location for an awe-inspiring fundraiser.
A well-rounded event consists of many moving parts, and this Non-Profits Night Out had a top-notch team to make it all happen. Thanks to VOW Digital Health, guest list management and attendee check-in was made easy and efficient. Inside the grand event space, delectable hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Events By RHC, wowed with both their aesthetic and flavor. Something Different Party Rentals provided décor and furniture that tied the space together and kept guests comfortable as they mingled. As everyone connected and celebrated, they enjoyed the energetic DJ sets of Rhythm In Motion and a guest performance by DJ B. Mills. All the while, Natural Expressions Photography captured every moment, posed and candid alike, to ensure that the evening was commemorated in eye-catching stills.
Baker shares, “NPNO producer Brian Dodson and his Bee Season Events team made certain that the venue, a/v, food, beverage, and event design all worked together seamlessly in order to deliver a unique and luxurious experience to our several hundred VIP guests.”
One of the most interesting take-aways from this Non-Profits Night Out was learning about cutting-edge technology across the board. Streamliner, a digital-streaming technology, gives fundraisers the ability to develop live/virtual hybrid events thus expanding their fundraising reach to include a virtual audience. Keep Interacting’s digital centerpieces allowed guests to easily learn about the vendors and technology surrounding them and contact the hosts through an intuitive touch-screen experience.
Of course, the video talent of Jason Ellinger, of Beard and Bowler, played a crucial role in bringing the night together. “Behind the scenes and the lens, Jason’s team brought Non-Profits Night Out to everlasting life, capturing NPNO’s ability to yield innovation and inspiration,” says Baker. “Several short films were shot throughout the event grounds and in the ‘NPNO Deal Room.’ The multiple films give NPNO permanence, ensuring the narrative reaches people well beyond a single event.”
videographer: Beard & Bowler
It’s no surprise that this year’s Non-Profits Night Out exceeded expectations yet again. Thanks to the all-star management team, devoted committee members, and an infinitely talented group of vendors, NPNO continued to honor and connect the nonprofit community. Guests shared a renewed sense of community and left feeling celebrated and connected.
Reed Baker says of the evening, “NPNO guests are not your run-of-the-mill party planners. Our attendees are responsible for feeding people, housing people, educating them, and nursing them back to health. Most of their ambitious work is done with little appreciation. We want to make NPNO a bigger happening each and every year — one that injects fun into fundraising. The goal is inspiration, and the ROI is impact. NPNO intends to continue setting this table, facilitating social impact, and documenting the gains from our collective efforts.”
Stay tuned for coverage of NPNO’s next stop in sunny West Palm Beach on November 14th, 2023.

Pro Sho Event Services, known for the last three decades as a leading event production company in the Northeast, recently joined forces with Partners in Sound Productions (PISP), Dash of Class Platinum, and The Voto Booth under the management of Merge Event Solutions. The merging of the four groups marks an exciting new chapter for event hosts in the tri-state area and beyond. Now, everything from furniture rentals to entertainment and audio-visual needs are provided for — by one trusted network.
We sat down with Anthony Gerardi, Managing Partner at Merge Event Solutions, to learn more about what the incorporation of Pro Sho into the Merge family means for event hosts.
Tell us about Merge’s companies and how they work together to create memorable events for clients.
Merge Event Solutions is made up of four companies that combine to create a true one-stop shop for clients, no matter what their needs are. Our resumé is second to none, as each of our brands has more than 30 years of experience.
Partners in Sound Productions and Dash of Class Platinum focus more on social events, like milestone birthdays, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, campus events, and weddings. Pro Sho services the corporate sector, tending to audio-visual needs for meetings and events, non-profit galas, and outdoor events like festivals and concerts. Voto Booth caters to all of these sectors to provide photo booths and photo favors for event attendees.
We pride ourselves on the reputation we’ve built by employing a highly experienced staff that always delivers when the pressure is on. All of our team members have two common goals: to treat the customer like family and ensure flawless events.
How will Pro Sho expand on current event offerings now that it is part of Merge?
Pro Sho will continue to serve its current markets but is expanding to other events that exist at the intersection of corporate and social. Now that all of our brands are truly under one umbrella, a master scheduler can pick the best team members to match our clients’ needs and produce a flawless event.
Pro Sho offers full-service production. This includes guidance in planning your event, coordinating logistics, and selecting the right technology to fit your needs — all while making creative, out-of-the-box suggestions to enhance your event. Merge supports event hosts by combining these offerings with those of our other companies, like DJs, emcees, party motivators and greeters, performers, and photo booths.
How will Pro Sho continue to evolve going forward?
Pro Sho is investing in the latest available technology to offer products and services that will allow us to push the boundaries of production.
What are the benefits of working with a full-service AV/sound production company?
From the get-go, meetings are more effective and are easier to schedule due to the fact that there are fewer moving parts. On the day of your event, from the initial equipment delivery to the strike, everything is organized in a way that makes logistical sense because the whole crew falls under the Merge umbrella. Everybody’s working together with the goal of maximizing efficiency and not wasting the client’s time or money.
When you work with Merge, all of your event services are coordinated by one production manager, which eliminates the need to juggle multiple vendors that often have a tough time working together due to varying management styles. Since we see the big picture, you can feel confident that your one point of contact can control the majority of services utilized at your event, even if there are last-minute changes. If you can dream it, we can make it happen.
What metro areas will Pro Sho serve going forward?
In addition to the New York tri-state area, Pro Sho is moving all across the East Coast into the Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and North Carolina markets. Our second hub is located in Orlando, Florida and supports shows from Orlando down to Miami. We are also working with many clients along the West Coast through a long-standing relationship with our sister company located in Los Angeles.
Anything else you’d like to share?

If you’re looking to plan a stunning celebration in New York City, check out ASPIRE at One World Observatory. With a sleek and adaptable space, and unbeatable views of the city, this is a must-see venue. Centrally located within One World Trade Center, this venue is ideal for your wedding, corporate event, milestone celebration, and everything in between.
We spoke with Amber King, Director of Special Events at ASPIRE, to hear more about what makes this venue truly stand out amongst the rest. Keep reading to see three different events with unique themes that prove ASPIRE has limitless potential.
When it comes to selecting a venue for your event, be sure to find a space that can reflect your personal style and theme. Below, you’ll find inspiration for just a few of the magnificent ways that ASPIRE can be transformed. Let the City of Dreams be your picturesque backdrop as you celebrate inside one of New York’s greatest architectural feats.
“Unlike a typical venue ballroom or a square/rectangular venue space, the shape of Aspire hugs the curvature of the World Trade Center building,” King explains. “This allows for multiple functions and aspects of an event to take place within the venue, such as a wedding cocktail reception leading to a seated dinner.”
The spacious venue — which is able to host up to 250 seated guests and 450 standing guests — can easily be partitioned into smaller private spaces to accommodate your needs. With three separate entrances and a selection of portable soft walls and draping, the possibilities for arranging your setup are endless. And the best part? No matter what area of the venue you situate yourself in, you’ll be met with breathtaking views of Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and beyond.
Below, you can see the event space in its natural state. Keep reading to see three stunning transformations that are possible with this one-of-a-kind venue.
When it comes to wedding décor, it’s impossible to go wrong with a monochromatic white wedding theme — and elegant white florals are the perfect statement pieces. From aisle accents to centerpieces, there’s no shortage of ways to incorporate lush florals into your all-white ceremony and reception at ASPIRE.
According to King, “In the past, we have transformed the space into a living room for a film shoot, a garden oasis for a wedding, a yoga studio for Mother’s Day, and even a karate pit for a live sports exhibition. There’s nothing we’re not able to do!”
Adaptability is crucial when it comes to selecting your event venue, and you’ll certainly find it at One World Observatory. This flexible space is the ideal backdrop for any celebration you can dream of.
If a white wedding isn’t your style, a jewel toned color palette could be perfect for you. See how the deep purples and greens seen throughout this stunning reception make the lights of the bustling city below shine even brighter. Additionally, creative uplighting highlights the vibrant botanicals of the ceremony-arch-turned-reception-stage.
“ASPIRE is a blank canvas!” King says. “We can transform the space into anything that can be imagined.” No matter your theme or color palette, it’s sure to be complemented by the unbeatable views of the Big Apple below.
Taking a minimalistic, modern approach for your event décor is easy with sweeping New York City views at every turn. Ghost chairs and subtle, yet elegant floral arrangements allowed ASPIRE’s jaw-dropping panoramic vistas to be highlighted as guests enjoyed the ceremony from 102 stories up.
“The West and South Atrium are very popular gathering spots for special moments. The architecture provides a beautiful backdrop for a speech, musical performance, wedding ceremony, or any moment you’d like to highlight with a beautiful backdrop,” King shares.
With over 9,000 square feet of space available, this setting offers more than ample room for an inspired, beautiful event. No matter what you envision, it can become a reality with this remarkable venue.

Of the many lessons I’ve learned about memorable events while working at PartySlate, the most enduring truth is this: well-planned event lighting is essential. Lighting, when done well, by an experienced professional/artist, creates mood, highlights important moments, transitions guests from one element of a celebration to another, adds texture and color, and so much more.
We recently sat down with David Milowitz, Creative Director of ESP Creative, trusted event production and entertainment firm, to discuss the importance of event lighting. The team has gleaned invaluable experience from years of producing everything from corporate and experiential gatherings to weddings and other milestone celebrations. And while ESP’s services encompass far more than lighting (think design, fabrication, sound, staging, event management, and speciality talent), their lighting design and production is especially epic.
Read on to see what Milowitz of ESP Creative has to say about how lighting can elevate every moment of your event — and what you should consider when planning your gathering.
What exactly is “event production,” and what services are offered?
Event production consists of any component used to create the foundation of an experience. The three most common components are: sound, lighting, and video. It’s often that these components work hand-in-hand or overlap.
Within sound, there is audio for recorded things such as a film or a sizzle release. There is also live audio — which could be spoken-word like a conference, or singing like in a concert.
Lighting has many facets. We could be focusing on a spot or area, so that guests can see what’s happening in a dark room, or we could be projecting leafy patterns on the walls to make the vibe of the room feel like a jungle.
Video is an interesting one, because, while it’s often a vehicle to display specific content, it is also utilized as another light source with interesting ambient designs to amplify an overall experience. Sometimes the video has audio, and sometimes it doesn’t.
How can lighting be used to create ambiance at an event?
Let’s first note that there are many different reasons for having events — and lighting is most often needed for ALL of these reasons. Think of a lighting designer as a painter. The venue is the canvas. The surfaces, time of day, and goals of the event are the paints or “mediums” that can be chosen from to create a masterpiece.
Then, think about the fact that lighting can be stagnant, or it can move. The most common application for lighting is a stage wash, which is a pretty powerful spotlight that accentuates an area (so that guests can see what’s going on in that area).
Next would be room uplighting. This effect splashes color and/or texture on the venue’s surfaces (not always just walls). Moving lights have the ability to change the ambiance and energy level throughout the course of an event. Fast lights (light you might see in a night club) could raise adrenaline, whereas slow scrolling lights might lull someone to relaxation.
How can lighting indicate a shift in the focus of a party (ie., from dinner to dancing, cocktails to speaker presentations, etc.)?
I look at every event, regardless of the purpose, as a theatrical experience. As lighting colors and temperatures (intensity) shift, they can accentuate specific moments. Let’s take wedding lighting in a venue with no windows, for an example. First, guests arrive — think of a bright and cheery aesthetic. Lighting is at 60% intensity for guests to greet and mingle.
As the time comes for a ceremony, the lighting dims, and guests are instantly aware that drama is happening — it’s time to take their seats. If this is done effectively, there should be no need for a verbal cue to guests.
Focused wash lights come to 70% to highlight the ceremony position. It’s possible that during the dim shift, some of the wedding party sneaks into position in order to be revealed by this lighting shift. Then, the aisle lighting wash raises to match the ceremony position as the processional begins. As the bride makes her way to complete the procession, the aisle dims. Only lights on the ceremony position are on. This creates a dramatic focal point. Nothing else is accented; there are no other distractions.
Reception room opens, and there is a textured wash of patterns that are slightly out of focus to create a dreamy and alive feeling to the room. These patterns could be ever so slightly moving to infuse the room with some energy. Guests come in, then dancing begins, and the patterns change so that the focal point becomes the dancing area. The lighting fixtures speed up as guests’ adrenaline picks up. There is often and ebb and flow to a wedding reception between dancing and dining (with some speeches). The speed and intensity of the lighting transitions between each experience — so as to create the appropriate environment to execute the next portion.
Being able to push haze, smoke, or dry ice are incredibly helpful to create a lot of the drama that lighting offers. Unfortunately, many venues don’t allow these tools because of very sensitive smoke detectors (one of the many reasons that I love tents).
I often use the burnt Thanksgiving dinner analogy to show people what I’m talking about. Every kitchen has lighting — usually overhead, perhaps some cool pendants, and they serve their purpose. They light the room and the surfaces in the room. When that turkey gets burnt and the kitchen fills with smoke, you see something you don’t often see. It’s the beam of light that’s emanating from the fixtures.
There are so many other effects that can help amplify lighting. We recently produced an event where we cut abstract patterns into the sides of some custom highboys (tall chests of drawers) and installed a light inside. This created a spectacular lighting pattern all around each highboy.
How does a lighting team work with other vendors to realize an event vision?
It is incredibly important to get a scope of work from all other vendors in order to optimally light an event. First (and not sexy at all), is power. While many lighting fixtures are either battery-powered or LED, when doing a comprehensive lighting plot, there is a need for significant power.
Next is rigging. Are the lighting fixtures going to fly (be mounted overhead), or will they be ground-stacked (mounted either on the floor or on an apparatus that is on the floor)? What are the other components in the room? Will there be a ceiling treatment? What are sight-line issues? What is the path that is intended for guests to walk? Where should their focus go?
It’s interesting, because often, lighting is the first thing that goes into an event, but the last thing that’s finalized. It’s imperative that the décor, entertainment, and cuisine display be done in collaboration with lighting. What’s the point in spending money on a centerpiece if nobody is going to see it? How can a bartender make a drink in the dark?
Can you talk about the special challenges of lighting in more remote venues like a garden, beach, or tent? And how about lighting at daytime events?
Lighting is important no matter what the experience, venue, or goals. Sometimes, the sun provides enough lighting — making Mother Nature the lighting designer. However, we find that even during daytime events, it’s important to think about lighting. What time of day is the event? What is the weather? Will there be shadows? By lighting the event in the right way, with the proper fixtures, we have the ability to lock in the desired look, feel and drama that our client is attempting to evoke.
Why should you hire an event lighting company versus relying upon the options available at a venue?
There are many spectacular event spaces throughout the world (we’ve installed lighting in some of them), and a lot of them have spent time and money to bring in lighting that helps to create a “baseline” look that fits the overall drama of the venue.
If a client is looking for that exact look, then they’re fine using what the facility has to offer. The only rub is that while a space might fit one of the lighting “looks” a client is looking for, when creating a really dramatic and memorable experience, events should have multiple lighting transitions and dynamics.

On Tuesday, January 24, over five hundred tastemakers and top event professionals gathered in New York at Clinton Mercantile. The raw modern space, owned by Bentley Meeker, near Hudson Yards and Midtown, provided the perfect blank space for the realization of this dramatic celebration. The team at jesGORDON properFUN conceived of the Film Noir theme that included many never-before-seen flourishes and offered a unique experience for an industry that has seen it all.
Joseph Wickes of jesGORDON properFUN shares insight into the theme, “First, we knew we wanted the design to feel elegant and thought Film Noir was a theme that would be new to many. Second, we envisioned the design in shades of black and white — easy parameters for each vendor to produce within. Lastly, for guests, the attire would be attainable, universally elegant, and timeless. Also, we wanted to demonstrate that you can achieve a celebratory tone within a dark and moody concept.”
Guests were invited to PartySlate’s first celebration of 2023 by a luxe digital invitation, custom-designed for the gathering by Ceci New York. The designer offered a nod to the gathering’s Film Noir theme with a chic black invitation featuring metallic elements that conjured the silver screen and smoke evocative of the tendrils rising from a femme fatale’s cigarette.
The team also designed the party’s printed materials. Bombshell Graphics created signage to direct guests and honor event partners as well as tie in the theme — including a chic step-and-repeat at the event’s entrance.
Design: A Downpour of Glamour
Wickes of jesGORDON properFUN shares that the “white box venue” of Clinton Mercantile was ideal for a strong event vision. He adds of the design, “We utilized the visual of smoke as a common thread throughout.”
Black & White Palette
Lilli Wright of Mimosa Floral Design says of the event, “We were so excited to partner with Jes Gordon on this one. She’s such an experiential designer, which is right up our alley. When Jes sent us the initial design page, we were so excited by the limited color palette. We wanted to lean into creating a black-and-white film world, one where you really felt like you were seeing in black and white. We selected black and white blooms and balanced them with sculptural dried leaves painted in shades of gray.”
“The flowers were a mix of classic blooms and modern textures,” adds Wickes.
A Dramatic Installation
Wright adds, “We love creating experiential designs and are known for our suspended art installations, so we lit up at Jes’s suggestion of an umbrella installation over the central lounge moment. Our main inspiration was the numerous images of rain streaming down in so many Film Noir pieces. The LED fairy lights over and through a canopy of black umbrellas gave us the vibe of that quintessential rainy image.”
Projections, Lighting & Balloons Add Ambiance
Multiple balloon installations from Balloon Design Studio added interest to the themed design. Undulating balloons in black, white, and silver made for a dramatic entrance. Meanwhile, the black mylar balloons that wrapped the pillars mimicked rolls of film and added a “celebratory texture,” shares Wickes.
Wright says, “We also designed a band backdrop that was inspired by the many images of Venetian blinds that we see throughout the genre. Bentley Meeker Lighting & Staging continued this theme with GOBO projections casting shadows of Venetian blinds throughout the room.” Wickes notes that “lighting in shades of white perfectly complemented the design.”
He adds, “We used modern technology such as the video dance floor from GEO Events Design to showcase old movie clips.” The walls of the venue featured projections as well, creating an immersive experience.
Bolsius Candles also added to the dramatic aesthetic with dreamy candlelight. Additionally, Wickes shares, “The chic furniture complemented the theme, thanks to RentQuest’s selection.” The rentals team provided swanky lounge areas and hightop tables for guests to network and nosh. Nuage Designs outfitted tabletops with glamorous linen that furthered the vintage aesthetic.
Entertainment: Memorable Moments
Attention-Getting Opener
Aragon Artists provided floor-filling entertainment for our stunning New York affair. Andrew McLaughlin of Aragon says, “The first performance moment of the evening featured a custom remix of Adele’s ‘Set Fire to the Rain,’ produced by Aragon’s Grammy-winning producerDJ TK and flagship NYC party band Village Theory.
“Moody, dramatic, mysterious, and exhilarating, this performance was a true 2023 take on Film Noir. It began with a cinematic film montage, featuring the most timeless Film Noir scenes and dialogue, created by Aragon’s video team.
“This fanfare set up an epic vocal cadenza featuring lead vocalists from two of Aragon’s party bands (Soirée and Village Theory), integrated with captivating choreography by our Immersive Dance Ensemble. Fuse all of this with GEO Events Design’s LED dance floor, special effects, and lighting by Bentley Meeker, and bespoke period costuming from Aragon’s style team, and you have the ultimate kickoff to an evening that had every eye in the room glued to the dance floor.”
Creative Introduction
McLaughlin of Aragon shares of the next moment that will have guests talking for a long time to come. “The second memorable sequence of the evening was inspired by our initial conversations with Creative Director Jes Gordon, where we discussed a modern take on Film Noir. She referenced Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ as musical inspiration. Themes of rain, mystery, shadow, and stormy weather entered our creative brainstorming, as well.”
The collaboration resulted in a creative prelude to PartySlate CEO Julie Roth Novak’s welcome to the stage. McLaughlin shares that DJ TK and Village Theory created “a custom ‘Smooth Criminal’ underscore with overlaid Film Noir dialogue, a raging thunderstorm, cacophonous video montages, screeching cars, and ending with ‘camera…ACTION!’” — effectively bringing all eyes to the stage for an important moment honoring all of the vendors who produced the gathering.
“As Julie’s speech concluded, Aragon’s Immersive Dance Ensemble once again took to the dance floor dripping in crystal fringe, inspired by a rainy vision of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s iconic music video for ‘Rain on Me,’” says McLaughlin.
Fresh Fare: Creative Cuisine & Champagne
Delectably Vegan Menu & Luxurious Caviar Bites
Joseph Wickes of jesGORDON properFUN says of the party’s inspired fare, “The food was a mix of luxurious elements like caviar balanced out with a plant-based menu that was inspired by studio cafe and steakhouse cuisine a la Musso + Franks.”
Shaun Roberts of esteemed caterer Great Performances shares, “We own and operate our own plant-based café in Mott Haven (The Bronx) and love bringing it to an area of the city where that hasn’t really existed. With how vital it is to the environment and our bodies to switch from a meat-centric diet, we thought it would also be a great way to kick off the new year and lean into a few New Year’s resolutions, too.
“There’s always a little bit of risk in designing a menu for a large group of guests that speaks to one very specific cuisine, but we chose not to emphasize that the menu was plant-based, and rather leave it to the guests to notice, and to decide if meat was a missing element. Once we had Jes Gordon’s and Joe Wickes’s buy-in on the concept and the menu, we knew we could go all the way with it.” He also notes that the pumpkin risotto and beet wellington were new items from his team and that guests loved them.
Meanwhile, Party Rental Ltd. ensured that all of the carefully-prepared fare was stylishly served with their catering rentals.
Nothing says a celebration is special like pampering guests with caviar. Sterling Caviar once again wowed with delectable, sustainable caviar from their Sturgeon farm, the first of its kind in the United States. They paired the elegant bites with perfect accoutrement and offered bits of education on the elegant fare as they served guests.
Espresso Cocktails & a Champagne Tower
Wickes shares that the party’s creative sips mixed “the classic elegance and extravagance of a Champagne tower with nuevo chic cocktails from The Cup Bearer.”
Indeed, The Cup Bearer team brought the buzz with a 500-glass Champagne tower that was filled from a ladder with flair while guests clamored to watch. The talented team also created the cocktail menu and served the cocktails (they put on quite a show behind the bar!).
Partygoers also enjoyed a new take on an espresso martini from Dolce & Gelato Catering Inc. The team brought their epic Electra Belle Époque machine (of which there is only one in the United States) to offer coffee, espresso, or lattes to guests. But the real treat was their espresso martini which merged the cocktail concept with a s’more, with a graham cracker crumb glass rim and a marshmallow garnish toasted upon serving.
Acrylic Sticks again wowed guests with stirrers that perfectly encapsulated the Film Noir theme with black stirrers featuring wisps of smoke and PartySlate branding. We always look forward to seeing how they will embody our events’ creative themes. MY DRAP offered custom eco-conscious cocktail napkins with a chic black background with white PartySlate branding.
In a fitting end to a special evening, Fresh Flours LLC. offered guests sweet take-away bags for their ride home or next-morning coffee treat.
All of the Memories Made (& Captured)
Guests love capturing memorable moments in two special photo spots that evoked the vibe of the celebration. First, Banga Studios created a totally unique photo activation inside of an elevator. Wickes from jesGORDON properFUN says, “Using shadows and light, the photo booth experience was effective in evoking the theme of mystery that is classic in Film Noir.” The resulting images were dramatically lit masterpieces.
Partygoers also loved the opportunity to capture themselves against another vintage-style backdrop: a bright yellow antique car prop with a custom PartySlate license plate from the innovative team at GEO Events Design.
It was definitely an evening worth remembering, and we are grateful that Sara Wight Photography was on hand to beautifully capture the dramatic soirée. The team shot gorgeous black and white (in fitting with our theme) candid pictures of guests interacting and having fun. Meanwhile, Storybox Cinema captured moving images that told the story of the celebration with a video, which will remind the hundreds of guests of their good time (and will make those who weren’t there, wish they were).
And More Thanks
Producing a beautiful celebration — like PartySlate’s Film Noir-inspired New York gathering — requires a talented team of partners. In addition to the vendors listed above, we also want to thank Lauren DeCosimo for our party-ready hair and Erica Ryan Makeup for makeup that was picture-perfect. They made sure that our PartySlate team looked (and felt) our absolute best.
And to ensure that all guests looked their best, thanks go to Francesca DiSpirito Styling who created a fashion mood board to inspire elegant on-theme attire — as well as got guests excited for the celebration.
We also want to express our gratitude to Ink 48 Hotel. The hip hotel provided the PartySlate team with welcome surroundings for our New York stay.

Plus, most Hudson Valley locations offer both indoor and outdoor space, so there is a lot of versatility for your ceremony and reception locations.”
From castles to courtyards, the Hudson Valley has it all. We’ve gathered 14 of the most scenic Hudson Valley wedding venues with recommendations from top planner Ali Barone, of Ali Barone Events, as well as our favorite PartySlate picks.

What is the best season to get married in the Hudson Valley?
This depends on your weather preference. If you are someone who thrives in chilly temperatures, fall is breathtaking in the Hudson Valley when the leaves on the trees are changing colors and a sea of red, orange, and yellow overtakes the hills.
The summer months in the Hudson Valley comes alive with mild temperatures and lush greenery. Summer is the perfect season for an outdoor ceremony or reception. No matter the season, there are plenty of gorgeous and unique wedding venues the Hudson Valley to accommodate to the weather and your vision.
What should I know when choosing a Hudson Valley wedding venue?
Revelry Cooperative’s Jules Miller says, “When shopping for upstate venues, here are few things to be aware of: noise curfews, water and power hookups, and transportation. Many locations have an amplified music curfew of 10 or 11 pm if they are outside of a commercial district. Also ask about water and electricity hookups near your reception site if you are setting up a tent for dinner and dancing. Lastly, transportation options, such as Ubers and taxis, are scarce, so arranging transportation for your guests to and from your venue is key for safety and convenience.
“Since you are typically planning multiple events around your wedding, an experienced planner is key to make sure everything goes off as planned.”
What wedding weekend activities can I plan for my wedding party in the Hudson Valley?
Miller shares, “Many venues have suggestions for nearby activities for your guests. Make sure to include hiking trails, breweries, antique shops and any other fun nearby destinations in your welcome bag or on your website so guests can make the most of their weekend away. The Hudson Valley has become a major hub for artists, chefs, and makers. There is an incredible mix of creativity and nature that is unique to the area and appealing to so many couples. There really is something for everyone.”
