PartySlate Gathers LA’s Top Event Tastemakers for a “Hollywood Highlight” at The London West Hollywood

On Tuesday, March 12th, more than 250 top event professionals gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate with PartySlate for an evening of cocktails and networking. The soirée, hosted at The London West Hollywood, captured the glamour of this iconic city with a “Hollywood Highlight” theme that married iconic Tinsel Town glamour with a fresh spring aesthetic.

With its multiple unique event spaces, The London West Hollywood set the scene for an evening of connection and celebration. Robert Kellermann, Director of Sales & Marketing at The London West Hollywood, tells us, “PartySlate has been a great partner, with a singular vision to showcase our spaces, together with other vendors, in order to bring industry professionals together to network and mingle whilst enjoying beautiful food, drinks, décor, and service.”

Edgar Hay, Creative Director of Edgar Hay Events, took inspiration from the celebration’s two event spaces, switching from an elevated garden aesthetic to a hip LA vibe as the evening progressed. Eric Yousefian, Owner of Design and Floral company Dolce Fiore continued the dual vision with wow-worthy florals that ranged from fresh and punchy to over-the-top glam.

A Glimpse of the Evening to Come

PartySlate's Hollywood Highlight invitation for networking event at The London West Hollywood

Guests were invited to PartySlate’s celebration via a luxe digital invitation, custom-designed for the gathering by Atelier Azure. Its lush, botanical design gave guests a sneak peek into the balmy rooftop soirée with a secret garden ambiance.

Design: From Spring Garden to Rooftop Glam

A fluid aesthetic requires the right event flow — and that means enlisting a venue with multiple event space options. Kellermann of The London West Hollywood tells us, “There was a great flow between our West End Rooftop and Penthouse Suite (at 11,000 square feet, it’s the largest penthouse in LA) for the event. The West End rooftop boasts stunning skyline views of Los Angeles, mixed with the custom décor put together for the event really made the space pop.”

A custom-fit tent and turf flooring contributed to the dreamy, but elevated, garden setting. Edgar Hay Events perfected the Hollywood elegance of the venue with a fresh spring color palette heightened by pops of white and metallic accents, thanks to MTB Event Rentals.

Dolce Fiore immersed guests into a botanical dreamscape with a massive tree installation built on-site to be a focal piece for the bar area. Guests gravitated toward the huge floral wall that spelled out “PartySlate” in fresh pink roses.

MTB Event Rentals brought in a miniature white circular stage (a 2024 event trend) that was perfect for speeches (a must-have for any successful networking event) — and Dolce Fiore added florals along the bottom to keep it cohesive with the rest of the design. Vogue Candles refined the look with the addition of their luxury, eco-friendly candle décor.

When guests transitioned to the Penthouse Suite and Rooftop, they experienced uninterrupted skyline views and soft golden lighting — thereby ending the evening with a hip LA rooftop experience.

Entertainment: From Chill to Night Club

A celebration with distinct networking spaces requires a flexible approach that transcends a “one-size-fits-all” style of entertainment. With that in mind DJ Nahchey of Dash Entertainment reinvented his traditional formula for an evening of riveting entertainment.

“We love combining live musicians to play along side with our DJs,” DJ Nahchey tells us. “However, for this event since we were taking care of entertainment in three areas (a DJ for the main area as well as musicians for the reception area and the Penthouse rooftop), we decided to have a saxophonist along with backing tracks play during the first hour while guests entered and checked in. We placed our electric violinist (also with backing tracks) on the rooftop of the penthouse to create a more ‘chilled out space’ for those wanting to take in the Los Angeles skyline and have a more intimate conversation with old and new friends. Our DJ Amanda kept the energy high in the main room while guest mingled and enjoyed the libations.”

Of course, the most immersive entertainment experiences create a full-sensory experience for the guests. DJ Nahchey shares, “We were able to use our LED Wall (with a list of the event sponsors) to create a dynamic background behind our DJ. Our AV tech was able to take the graphics and mix them with other ambient visuals for a little more ‘clubby feel.’ One of our breakdancers did a little performance in the very cool PhotoBohemia booth, as well.”

The unique entertainment continued with Ars Poetica, an experiential poetry agency, who delighted guests with written-on-the-spot poems from vintage typewriters.

Fresh Fare: Bites Made for Mingling

Kellermann of The London West Hollywood tells us, “We wanted to showcase our exceptional culinary team, which is a major selling point for hosting events at The London. Our Executive Chef Anthony Keene is laser-focused on delivering high-quality food through a beautiful presentation, to ensure guest satisfaction.”

Guests enjoyed passed apps such as sliders, fresh rolls, chicken empanadas with cilantro salsa, and crispy tuna. Of course, The London West Hollywood continued their theme of multiples with two unique slider options: angus beef and Maryland crab cake.

Opportunities to mingle continued with a beautiful grazing table by Pausmith Group. Founder Rob Pausmith shares, “The main food station provided by The London was a seafood risotto bar with a variety of toppings for guests. With something richer being served as a focal food point, our team at Pausmith Group wanted to complement that and create more of a gathering space for guests to congregate around and come back to multiple times throughout the evening to nosh on lighter bites.

“We believe in not just delicious displays, but visual storytelling. We created a grazing table that incorporated both florals and whole produce like vibrant tangerines and scarlet peppers to draw the eye to an organic, flowing display. Items featured on the table included artisanal meats and cheeses, crudité, beet hummus, gourmet crackers, and miniature desserts for a little something sweet. Food is a conversation piece, so our goal here was to provide a spot for guests to mingle and connect over delectable bites!“

All of the Memories Made (& Captured)

It was definitely an evening worth remembering, and we are grateful that Rene Zadori Photography was on hand to beautifully capture the elegant celebration. The team shot gorgeous candid pictures of guests having fun as well as photos of every colorful design detail and delicious dish. The team also captured moving images that told the story of the celebration with an engaging video that takes us right back to the night. Both will remind the hundreds of guests of their good time (and will make those who weren’t there, wish they were).

Another memory-maker, PhotoBohemia, allowed partygoers to capture themselves having fun together against a custom, plush metallic backdrop. Plus, guests could utilize props and apply filters for fun pics that they could take home or share on social media.

Event Industry Tastemakers Come Together in Los Angeles for a Picture-Perfect PartySlate Bash

On Wednesday, May 10, PartySlate brought together hundreds of Los Angeles tastemakers and top event professionals at Andaz West Hollywood. The open modern space and sundeck provided the perfect setting for the realization of this innovative gathering. The team at jesGORDON | properFUN conceived of the “Let’s Get Social in SoCal” theme that included multiple Instagram-worthy experiences for guests.

Jes Gordon of jesGORDON | properFUN shares insight into the theme, “We really wanted to highlight the role that social media plays in the world of events — and the whole world for that matter — these days. Everyone involved seemed to really get it from the start.”

A Great Party Starts With Great Branding

PartySlate event invitation
invitation graphic design: A Good Day

Guests were invited to PartySlate’s unique LA celebration via luxe digital invitation, custom-designed for the gathering by A Good Day. The design team evoked the sunny aesthetic of spring in SoCal. The color-drenched invitation nodded to some of the surprises in store for guests with its background imagery.

Bombshell Graphics created chic signage to direct guests and honor event partners with custom, on-theme visuals.

An Evening of Festivities & Photo Ops

Gordon shares, “Because social media is such a hot topic in the industry, it was easy for us to weave the story through all five senses with the help of our vendors. When you hit upon taste, touch, smell, hearing and sight, guests have not only a visual experience, but a lasting emotional one as well. We want people to remember an event long after they have gone home from it.”

An Instagram-Worthy Moment at Every Turn

Upon arrival, guests entered a decked-out elevator that set the scene for inventive fun from the very start. The vendors worked together to create a sprawling celebration that transported guests through four themed scenarios drawn from different inspirations.

“For the visuals, it was important to have vignettes that folks could get lost in and want to explore. The wonderful floral accents from NPD Events made it cohesive, allowing it to still feel like an actual event beyond the social media appeal,” says Gordon.

Nayra Toledo, with floral and décor partner NPD Events, says, “Our approach to the floral design for this event was to take inspiration from each set — not always in floral form. We wanted the sets and backdrops to stand out and be the main attraction, so we kept our floral design minimalistic but impactful to allow them to shine. We wanted our florals to add, not distract.”

The team’s desert music festival-inspired stage backdrop was one of the most popular of the evening. “When PartySlate and jesGORDON | properFUN asked for a succulent wall, we delivered!” says Toledo. She adds, “Seeing it up close would allow you to see all of the different elements that we incorporated — the variety of textures, floral products, and scale of the items. The base design was built of succulents and dried palms to help create our canvas. Next, we added layers of dried florals and draped it with hanging amaranthus. It truly was a beauty and we were overjoyed with the positive feedback.”

Party Poses

At this celebration, snapping pics was part of the experience. Guests posed in the various sets for a fun experience they will have tangible reminders from.

Three photobooths from LA Photo Party provided ample opportunities for partygoers to get silly and capture their fun in creative ways. In the Victorian activation, the team provided a unique AI experience that created immersive, era themed images. The space themed set offered a burst .gif, perfect for social sharing, while another whimsical scene allowed partygoers to print and share still images.

When you have a party that’s as colorful and rich with décor as PartySlate’s LA soirée, guests can easily clash with the vivid scene. Gordon and her team encouraged attendees to dress in their best monochromatic style which made for striking images and engaging connections.

Gordon notes that, “The spectacular view at Andaz was a great conversation starter, too.”

Immersive Elements

When we talk about an event that appeals to all of the senses, we are talking about this party. It was a visual delight. Not just within each vignette, but VOX Productions ensured that the lighting was amped up as the sun went down over the Los Angeles cityscape.

Found Rental Co. brought tactile elements. Gordon says, “The rentals and textiles we chose from Found Rental Co. helped people feel comfortable and made them want to explore several different areas rather than sitting in one place all night. A mixture of textures like velvet, linen, plush, and hard surfaces offers something intriguing to everyone.”

Event the sense that most often gets overlooked at events — smell — was tended to. “The smell was delicious! A custom scent created by Scentex specifically for the event made people want to stay in the space as long as they could,” shares Gordon.

Top-Notch Entertainment Elevates the Energy

Music for Moving

Nothing conjures a party mood like music. “For the music, which was provided by Let’s Party LA Entertainment, we wanted something upbeat that made people want to dance, get silly, and, of course, be social. Maintaining a consistent positive vibe is key to creating successful events easily,” says Gordon.

Encore Global ensured that the sound and production were on-point so that guests throughout the event had a consistently engaging experience.

Live Party Favor Creation

Party favors are nice; But custom party favors are even better. Hit + Run overdelivered with live screen-printing onto custom tote bags with various PartySlate designs. The team’s innovative approach to silkscreening has garnered new respect for the vintage art form as attendees were able to watch their totes created live on-site — then take it home.

Enticing Eats & Delectable Drinks Keep Guests Satiated

“For the food,” Gordon says, “we decided that having grazing areas would be ideal. Thanks to Andaz West Hollywood’s catering, guests could still continue their conversations while eating.” The hotel’s expert chefs whipped up the perfect spring menu starting with crisp vegetable crudités served with a variety of homemade dips from avocado Green Goddess to roasted garlic hummus — which guests enjoyed while sipping Prosecco.

Partygoers enjoyed an impressive charcuterie spread featuring imported and domestic cheeses, Jamón Ibérico, dried salami, sopressata and chorizo, accompanied by house-made marmalades, rosemary honey, nuts, fruit, assorted breads, and more.

The menu continued to offered a little something for everyone with ahi tuna ceviche spoons, vegetable spring rolls, buffalo chicken, as well as beef, veggie patty, and chicken sliders with their house sauce. Guests loved the clever taco truck station serving up marinated skirt steak, shredded chicken, and Soyrizo with side options galore.

Guests sipped drinks from a beautiful bar stocked with high-end spirits, wine, and craft beer — all served on custom eco-conscious cocktail napkins with a chic black background with white PartySlate branding from MY DRAP.

All of the Memories Made (& Captured)

It was definitely an evening worth remembering, and we are grateful Amari Productions was on hand to beautifully capture the dramatic soirée. The team shot gorgeous candid pictures of guests interacting and having fun as well as moving images that told the story of the celebration with a video. Both will remind the hundreds of guests of their good time (and will make those who weren’t there, wish they were).

Gordon shares, “The highlight of this event was what we noticed as the party was ending and the lights were coming on: the room was still full and guests were asking where the after party was.”

People Also Ask…

Should I hire an event planner for my fundraising gala?

When it comes to a large and complex event like a gala, we always recommend hiring a skilled event planner. Your planner will ensure that your event runs smoothly and successfully, resulting in a high impact gathering for your nonprofit organization.

A top gala planner will advise you on important decisions like venue selection, menu planning, theme options, entertainment, and so much more. They will have a strong network of reliable vendors to recommend and will save your organization time and money by working efficiently with your resources.

Selecting the right planner can feel like an overwhelming task, but PartySlate has made it easier with our event planner directory. Click the button below to narrow your planner options by services offered, diversity filters, and more.

What should I consider when choosing a fundraising gala venue?

Choosing the right Los Angeles venue for your gala can make a big difference in the success of the event. Here are some tips to consider when selecting your LA gala event venue:

  • Determine your budget: It’s important to establish a budget for your gala and stick to it. Be sure to factor in all the costs associated with the venue, such as rental fees, catering, décor, and a/v equipment.
  • Consider the location: Choose a location that is convenient for your guests and easy to access.
  • Evaluate the capacity: Determine how many guests you expect to attend and make sure the venue can comfortably accommodate that number. It’s important to avoid overcrowding or a venue that is too large and feels empty.
  • Assess the amenities: Consider what amenities the venue offers, such as a/v equipment, lighting, staging, and décor. The more the venue offers, the less you’ll have to rent from outside vendors.
  • Think about the atmosphere: The ambiance of the venue can set the tone for your event. Choose a venue that aligns with the theme or mood of your gala.
  • Check the availability: Make sure the venue is available on the date and time you need it. It’s a good idea to have several date options in case your first choice is unavailable.
  • Schedule a visit: Always visit the venue in person before making a decision. This will give you a better idea of the space, layout, and overall atmosphere of the venue.

By considering these factors, you can make an informed decision when choosing the perfect venue for your gala.
