As our Editor Jessi says, “Every kid’s birthday party is a milestone celebration — regardless of the year.” You don’t need to wait for a traditional milestone to celebrate your little one. Throw a trendy celebration for them, incorporating our predictions for the biggest kids’ birthday party trends of the new year.
We’ve rounded up 12 kids’ birthday party trends for an unforgettable bash in 2023. From balloon décor like you’ve never seen to elaborate mocktails for the kids, these trends are here to stay.
1. Balloon Installations Go Wild (Animals)
Balloon installations are always one of the most exciting décor elements at a kid’s birthday party. This year, we are expecting to see these formations get creative in fun animal shapes.
Adding a personal touch to your party doesn’t have to be extravagant. Customize sweet details that will make a big impact. You can personalize some of your kid’s favorite snacks with their name or or portrait on the packaging. Scroll down to see some of our favorite examples of this birthday party trend.

Tate’s sports-themed birthday party included a concessions stand filled with his very own personalized snacks (he’s lucky his name is already a brand!).
Keep kids entertained with hands-on art projects. What kid doesn’t love finger painting, face painting, or any creative outlet that allows them to get a little messy? While this fun activity will keep your child and their friends entertained, their finished art projects will double as fun party favors to take home.
Get kids excited by letting them choose their favorite face paint character. This circus-themed party featured a multitude of perfectly on-theme activities.
4. Live Entertainment That Gets Kids on Their Feet
Kids’ entertainment is more than than turning on the television or a music playlist. Live party entertainment, like musicians, gets kids on their feet and dancing. Expect your little one to be ready for a nap by the time the party is over.
Find and book the perfect entertainment for your kid’s birthday party.
Aloha Islanders Hawaiian Entertainment Inc. was the main attraction at this Moana-themed birthday party. They brought in Hula dancers and fire dancers to wow guests and get the kids dancing.
When a good pun presents itself, it’s hard to not lean into it. Whether on signage or invites, make sure your clever play on words makes an impact. Check out some of our favorite examples below, and find even more of the best party themes on PartySlate.

This “Home One” birthday party featured every baseball motif imaginable, including a baseball-shaped smash cake and concessions stands serving all of your ballpark favorites.
We love a classic nursery rhyme turned party theme. This Itsy Bitsy Spider-themed second birthday is a chic portrayal of a time-honored children’s poem.
Mocktails are growing increasingly popular and are one of our favorite trends here at PartySlate. Offer curated mocktails for the kids to take this trend to a new and adorable level. Caterers will not miss a detail in creating these masterpieces. Complete with smoke, edible flowers, and more, this adult trend is now for the kids.

A meticulously designed tablescape is one of my personal favorite parts of any event. In 2023, we expect to see even more over the top tablescapes — literally. Check out these examples below, designed by expert décor companies.

This lavish birthday tea party featured tablescapes of colorful baby’s breath that seemed to cascade from suspended, floating tea kettles and balloons overhead.
Plush pillows and low benches with accompanying tables are a perfect, and practical, kids’ birthday party trend. Think of it as an elevated picnic. This chic seating arrangement is in this year, so get ahead of the trend before you see it everywhere.

The days of primary-colored bounce houses for kids’ birthday parties are gone. If you’re going to go with a bounce house, make it pop. Add décor and balloons galore to amp up your party theme or style. This is one of our favorite trends of 2023, so check out the glamorous bounce houses below — and find a rental company near you for your kid’s next milestone.

10. Barbiecore Is More Than a Trend for the Adults
Barbiecore is one of our favorite themes here at PartySlate and we are ecstatic to see it trickle into kids’ birthday parties this year. The ultra-feminine, signature Barbie-pink, coupled with silhouettes of her portrait, is the theme of your little one’s dreams. Our favorite thing about this trend is that it has come full-circle. It began with kids, then became a glamorous adult trend, and is now back as an elevated style for kids.
11. Disco Balls Make Their Way to Kids’ Birthday Parties
Another trend moving from adult parties to kids is disco balls. Disco balls as décor definitely had their moment in 2022, but in 2023, we are going to see disco balls filling kids birthday parties. The best thing about this décor element is that it works with so many themes. You don’t have to commit to a full 70s-themed party to indulge in disco décor.

In 2023, the style and design of the invitations is just as important as the rest of the décor at the event. Storybook-inspired, or interactive invites, get kids and parents excited for the birthday party to come. They will also paint a picture of the party and sometimes tell the story of the celebrant. There’s no better way to get your little guests excited than with an interactive invite.

As the year draws to a close, PartySlate has an eye on the future. This month, we’ve been dreaming about which South Asian wedding trends will take over 2023. While the South Asian community is incredibly diverse, with varying cultural traditions, they share many common wedding elements and rituals.
We reached out to five top South Asian wedding plannersand event designers for an insider look into what’s ahead:
Chandani Chandekar, Founder & Chief Event Planner of Events by C
Samiya Brasfield, Owner & Lead Planner of SB Events Co.
While some trends started in 2022 and are still going strong, others are new and unexpected. Keep reading to see how South Asian weddings will be as beautiful as ever this year. From unique Sangeet décor to roaming photo booths, these trends are destined to impress.
*Click on the following or keep scrolling to find your favorite South Asian wedding trends of 2023.
While party themes were once confined to birthday parties or corporate functions, they are becoming increasingly popular at Sangeets and South Asian wedding celebrations across the country.
Chandekar of Events by C tells us, “We are seeing couples have very specific themes for their events. We recently planned a wedding where the couple had three distinct themes: the past, present, and future. The Sangeet represented the past with “root” décor elements to highlight where the couple came from. Their wedding ceremony represented the present with earth and land elements incorporated into their décor. The grand finale was the reception. We used futuristic elements and created the feeling of being in space.”
To sum it up, Brasfield of SB Events Co. shares, “Couples are starting to incorporate their own style, themes, and stories to make their décor unique —” be it at Sangeets, showers, or receptions.
See some of our favorite South Asian wedding and shower theme ideas below:

Why choose one theme when you can choose two? Elegant Affairs designed this unique garden disco reception where colorful pampas grass and glittering disco balls took wedding ceiling décor to new heights.
Classic peacock décor found a new look with boho-wicker seating and a cascade of white blooms. Glamorous rentals by Found Rental Co. were accented with plenty of pampas grass for the perfect boho-glam aesthetic.
Holly Golightly would be right at home at this stylish wedding shower planned by Anaïs Event Planning & Design. Custom-made backdrops, Tiffany-blue linen, and billowy white drapery set the scene for a chic al fresco bash.
While COVID-19 forced many South Asian couples to shorten their wedding celebrations to a single-day event, epic celebrations are back in session.
Ellis of Eventrics Indian Weddings tells us, “South Asian events are stronger than ever, and guest counts are back to their usual large and grand numbers.”
With that, comes weekend-long celebrations. “Overall, I would say that a lot of clients are spreading their events over three days versus the traditional two,” Ellis says. “For example, Friday is the Sangeet, Saturday is the ceremony, and Sunday is the reception. This allows the couple to rest in-between events and really engage with their guests over the course of the weekend.”
See how this multi-day wedding celebration in Los Cabos, Mexico wowed from start to finish:

Weddings are often highly-coordinated affairs — with every moment planned down to the smallest details. But many South Asian couples are looking for a different experience this year.
Brasfield of SB Events Co. shares, “We are seeing couples want to have more intimate moments with their guests. They might choose to join their own cocktail hours or keep their day-of timelines lighter on the speeches and performances to allow for more time spent with loved ones on the dance floor.”
However, it’s not just the timelines that are up for a reboot. “The ‘no wedding party’ trend is taking off, with an increasing number of couples choosing not to have to choose between friends,” Dhillon-Bains of Anaïs Event Planning & Design tells us. Instead, “Couples are finding new and unique ways to perform cultural rituals and honor loved ones in the family.”
Last year, we predicted that more couples would opt for destination weddings. Many South Asian wedding planners suspect this trend will continue into the new year.
“Our couples want to plan their weddings at a destination that allows them a beautiful backdrop of beaches, mountains, or even cities with unique structural features,” Brasfield of SB Events Co. tells us.
“They are open to different states and countries, so they can create a memorable experience at their favorite destinations. This also gives guests an opportunity to have a getaway that will be one to remember. At these destinations, it’s common to have one main event per day to allow guests to enjoy the destination they are in while allowing for more relaxed event-day schedules.”
A unique celebration deserves a unique wedding venue. Chandekar of Events by C says, “Couples are wanting to host their events at unique venues, such as wineries, rather than large ballrooms.”
Brasfield of SB Events Co. adds, “Couples are also eager to get creative with the spaces they choose,” opting to “host different events at places that have built-in experiential décor or features.”
See some of our favorite South Asian weddings at unique venue spaces below:
photographer: Usman Baporia Photography | planner: Anaïs Event Planning & Design | floral: Flowers By Edgar | venue: Fairmont San Francisco
de Young Museum offered one-of-a-kind backdrops for a unique first look — as well as a contemporary reception space with spectacular views and intriguing architectural details.
Bhaiji of Siblana Events tells us to expect to see Sangeet and Mehndi décor in jewel tones versus more traditional primary color designs. “We are seeing more couples interested in décor that breaks with the norm in terms of color and overall style.
“Previously, couples have stuck with traditional bright colors and décor styling that includes umbrellas and tassels. Now, more couples are asking for décor that exudes more of an elegance and sophistication with a bit of a palace vibe.
“We are doing graphic printed backdrops and dance floor wraps that really bring forth this theme — along with color choices in deeper jewel tones. We are also seeing more floral and metallic accessories in handicrafts from Indian traditions: including urli bowls, marigold and jasmine floral strings, and lotus florals.
“It’s been really exciting to work with these couples that are eager to create an event that is truly unexpected, yet very much honors the traditions of dancing, joy, and excitement for the impending wedding.”
For Hindu and Jain couples, wedding mandaps are both the wedding altar and main décor element of the wedding ceremony. Chandekar of Events by C tells us, “A mandap is defined as a four-pillar structure. As long as the four pillars are present, the design can vary a bit.
“While planning décor, we have more and more couples who want to go with an open-style mandap instead of a square shape. The open design allows guests to have a better view of the ceremony.”

This modern metallic arch keeps the opulent details of Hyatt Regency Orlando in full view. We also love how a glittering chandelier and crystal beading amplify the glamour at this ballroom wedding, planned by Eventrics Indian Weddings.
While “Tropical Luxe” has been a big vibe for the summer, Ellis of Eventrics Indian Weddings sees a new trend on the horizon. “Moving into the winter months we are seeing a lot of greenery, gold, and more simplistic elegance — versus over the top designs.”

The Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building was the perfect venue choice for this elegant wedding with a golden dance floor and fresh white blooms laced with greenery.
Nothing brings people together like a shared meal — and wedding celebrations, of course. According to Brasfield of SB Events Co., “Catering was always the number one priority for families.” However, she’s beginning to see couples also prioritize catering.
“Buffets are very popular within South Asian weddings, but now we are seeing food as an experience. Live stations, family-style, and plated dinners are becoming more intriguing to our guests. They want to incorporate beautiful décor where the food is served. Presentation is key,” she tells us.
Chandekar of Events by C adds, “We are blown away by the level of creativity we are seeing from vendors who provide live/interactive elements. We planned a wedding a couple of months ago with a smoked drink station. There was a signature cocktail which the vendor smoked, but guests could also get their whisky and tequila smoked. They also had a photo booth station where guests could get their photos printed on their drinks.”
See some picture-perfect catering ideas below:
photographer: Golden Hours Photography | venue: The Old Post Office | caterer: Mantra – Indian Garden
Mantra – Indian Garden kept guests satiated at this rooftop wedding in Chicago with a chic self-serving station (also a 2023 catering trend) that featured Ambo-nada: a mango drink with Chamoy and spicy Tajín.
Even dessert is up for reinterpretation. “A lot of couples are forgoing a wedding cake and doing a dessert station instead,” Ellis of Eventrics Indian Weddings tells us. She recommends “something fun and interactive to break up the standard ‘stationed’ items.”
Of course, there are plenty of unique ways to satisfy a sweet tooth. “Couples are also asking for champagne towers instead of wedding cakes, and we’re here for it,” Dhillon-Bainsof Anaïs Event Planning & Design shares.
See one of our favorite unique dessert ideas below:
photographer: Noor K Photography | planner: Eventrics Indian Weddings | décor: Nikun Events | venue: Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress | chocolate artist: The Chocolate Genius
Eventrics Indian Weddings and The Chocolate Genius gave dessert a personal touch for this Avatar-loving couple. Four chocolate orbs represented the four elements — each with its own flavored truffle inside.
It turns out that there’s something even better than the perfect photo op: a photo booth that comes to you and your guests. Roaming photo booths create an unobtrusive way to capture memories as they naturally unfold.
“A lot of our clients are really loving the roaming photo booth idea, versus a stationary booth, to capture great candids throughout the weekend,” Ellis of Eventrics Indian Weddings tells us.
South Asian weddings are often known for DJ entertainment that gets all the guests on the dance floor. However, Ellis of Eventrics Indian Weddings tells us, “Live entertainment for the cocktail reception has been more on-trend.”
Brasfield of SB Events Co. agrees. “Wedding entertainment has been top-of-mind for our couples — starting from the ceremony, cocktail hour, and throughout the reception. As guests arrive at the event, their senses are touched with the sound and setting.”
Lastly, Dhillon-Bains of Anaïs Event Planning & Design adds, “Bands are making a resurgence, with an onsite DJ to close the festivities.”
Whether it’s a multicultural wedding or a South Asian celebration that gives a nod to American culture, fusion music is remaking South Asian wedding entertainment.
Brasfield of SB Events Co. tells us, “We are seeing jazz bands or string quartets playing Bollywood, classic Shenai instruments playing top 40 hits, mariachi bands, etc.”
Events by C recently planned an Indian-Irish wedding. “As a part of the Sangeet entertainment, we had a performance with Indian dhol (drums) and Irish bagpipes,” Chandekar shares. “Each played on their own, but they also played together to represent the union of the couple’s cultures.”
14. Unique Entertainment Acts (Continue to Wow)
photographer: Memories Photography | planner: Events by C | décor: Evoke Event Decor | venue: Moon Palace Cancun | entertainment: Quantum Entertainment
Last year, many experienced South Asian wedding planners and event professionals predicted that unique entertainment acts would take over South Asian weddings in 2022. Now, it looks like that trend will continue throughout the next year.
“Entertainment is so much more than having a DJ,” Chandekar of Events by C says. Couples are thinking about unique entertainment for each part of their day: live music such as an electric violinist during the cocktail hour to acrobat performances during dinner.”

*In no particular order…
1. Take Notes From This “Beats by G” Theme
photographer: Scott Clark Photo | planner: Sterling Social Events & Experiences | venue: SmashBox Studios | rentals: Taylor Creative Inc.
It’s one thing to throw a party after your favorite musical genre; it’s another to theme a party around your favorite headphones. The celebrity-owned Beats by Dre brand inspired Gavin’s entire Bar Mitzvah party — with his own twist, of course.
“Beats by G” was born for the night with a custom logo, a line of merch for party guests (we’re eyeing the cozy matching sweatsuit), and a series of catering stations (you’d find us at “G’s Sushi”).
Click your heels – and clink your glasses. There’s nothing quite as whimsical as a Wizard of Oz-themed rehearsal dinner, especially one with its own yellow brick road.
The couple’s planner, GoBella Design & Planning, shared details about the grooms’ Oz-inspired outfits, which were “filled with personal touches, like embroidery of the couples’ dog (instead of Toto) and the Tin Man’s clock heart set to 11:11 (their lucky numbers).”
For the free-spirited couple, you might want to consider turning your wedding day into a movie premiere. How? Just look at the photos from Jordan and Sierra’s red carpet-worthy celebration.
The couple’s bold color choices, dramatic floral arrangements, and personalized neon signage set the scene for a rom-com with the happiest of endings. Their poster-inspired invitations and cinematic entrance transported guests straight into a fairytale (one with a modern edge), and surely led to rave reviews.
The bustling streets of New York came to Los Angeles for one epic city-to-city evening. Witness the “Big Apple” become the “Pink Apple” at Madison’s “Madison Avenue” birthday soirée.
Heightened details include a subway station photo op, a diner serving up burgers and shakes, street signage-inspired table numbers, and pink cab place cards. See the full event album to window shop more unique NYC-themed ideas.
While we’re on the topic of city themes, why not go mountainside? As one of the most iconic and remote destinations in the country, guests will always appreciate a whirlwind trip to Aspen.
Jemma created her own ski resort with a lift-inspired DJ booth, ski run signage, gorgeous mountain backdrops, crisp white furniture details, and indoor fire pits. Trust us, you’ll want guests to cozy on up for a theme like this — as it’s guaranteed to give them chills.
The bride wore black — and created her own bodega-theme for another unique twist. Sylvia and Puneet infused culture into their experiential wedding day with a custom food market and bodega — and we’ve got receipts on all the details.
The interactive store included a specialty newspaper with photos and quotes from the wedding party, an “In sickness and health” vending machine, and “Have a nice life” to-go bags. We’ll take one of every idea, please.
With any bistro-inspired affair, catering becomes one of the most important elements, and this party delivered on a great menu with mini skillet-serving vessels, make your own cannoli station, and more.
photographer: Harlow and May Studio | planner & design: Emily Events | custom stationary, branding & signage: Papellerie | caterer: Wolfgang Puck Catering – Houston
Cat Spring, TX
Ready, set — revel (in this epic, interactive theme idea). For her 30th birthday, Ali hosted her own “Amazing Race” at her family’s ranch. The event was 10 months in the making, with countless details going into the party concept, décor — and of course, the race itself.
This “race to 30” included suitcase invitations, a supply store, first class flight-inspired catering, and a “zero-proof” mocktail bar.
The 60s may be making a popular party comeback — but an Austin Powers spin will keep it completely original.
This 21st-birthday party, which took place in London – yeah, baby! — kept guests on their toes with innovative design elements, on-theme catering, and a very specific dress code. Look through the party photos to spy a color-saturated entrance, flower-power table arrangements, and funky bar figures.
We’re living for this Barbie bachelorette party. While Barbie themes aren’t new (hello, Barbiecore trend), it’s the spin on details that can take it from ordinary to extraordinary.
This bride-to-be knew how to perfectly accessorize the party with hot-pink serving vessels (and matching pink drinks, duh), a hot-pink cassette DJ booth, beach Barbie-patterned blow up pools, and so much more.
Not included: the bride-to-be’s private beachfront estate. However, you can browse waterfront venues in PartySlate’s outdoor event spaces directory.
When you share your birthday party with a friend, you might have to make compromises — or maybe you won’t…
This Beyoncé Renaissance-inspired party added the birthday girls’ separate loves of disco and rodeo, and combined them into one innovative style. They say opposites attract, and in the world of unique party themes, it couldn’t be more true.
All you need is The Beatles inspiration for your next party. This colorful, musical, and whimsical kids’ birthday party theme was a crowd pleaser for both the adults and kids in attendance.
Pay close attention to the shapely details that included flower sculpted tables, cushions, and cookies, alongside heart molded plates and vibrant star cutouts. When it comes to choosing a theme, why not bring to life a yellow submarine?
The world of party themes is truly your oyster (or maki roll, if you will). There’s no shame in playing pretend for the day, especially when it comes to the most unique celebration ideas.
For Lily’s 25th birthday, she designed her own sushi restaurant with branded chopstick sleeves, custom wrapped tables, lychee bar signage, and more. It’s giving main character energy, with a side of soy sauce.
Nothing sets the tone for an epic wedding weekend like a unique welcome party theme — especially one with a nod to the couples’ personality. These grooms had creative party elements in the bag with their “90s catchphrase” themed occasion.
The nostalgic lingo says it all, with an iconic “Gettin’ sippy with it” boombox wall (holding grab-and-go juice pouches), a “Let’s bounce” bounce house (for the grown ups, this time), and a snack table that was “All that and a bag of chips.” Need more of the 411? Just browse the full event album.
Game over. This technology-themed Bar Mitzvah party wins when it comes to innovation. The details were, shall we say, out of control — with Xbox controller wall projections, video game-inspired designs, and holographic-inspired signage.
From the lighting to the interactive entertainment, there was no shortage of high-tech features that are sure to inspire your next party.
Super Mario World has never looked so…adorable. These parents-to-be celebrated their new family member with a “Super Baby World” shower. Choose your character: from Toad’s food truck to Princess Peach’s DJ booth.
Between all the winning elements, nothing leveled up the party like the signage, which featured Super Mario-inspired fonts, catchy phrases, and colorful backdrops.
Stephanie’s country club-themed Bat Mitzvah party put the perfect spin on your typical teen’s sports party. The theme was in full swing with a built-out, PGA-inspired golf shop in the midst of the celebration.
Stephanie’s event designer, Jen Gould Event Design, shared that the “storefront was surely a hit amongst Stephanie’s friends, for the line was out the door all night long!”
If you have a bun in the oven, this adorable McDonald’s-themed party inspiration is for you.
From the drive-thru ordering station to the custom golden arch and floral to-go boxes, this celebration proves branding is for way more than just corporate events. We’re truly “lovin” every fast foodie detail — and yes, we’ll have fries with that.
You’ve got spirit, yes you do — just make sure the bar has spirit(s), too. Blake’s University of Michigan sports-themed Bar Mitzvah party featured the school’s infamous football slogans, signature “Maize and Blue” colors, and nods to the program’s recognizable football stadium.
Game-winning inspiration goes far beyond one school: Take Blake’s ideas and apply them to your own team for a completely unique celebration.
Trust us, no one hates a luxury vacation — especially without the hassle of travel. Maddy’s experiential Bat Mitzvah party took guests on a tropical trip with resort-inspired details and a sunny palette.
The design boasts an “out of office” vibe with a room-key place card wall, sandy beach dance floor wrap, and palm tree centerpieces. Make sure to also check out the giant beach ball-inspired bar, which complemented a beach ball-covered ceiling. We’ll take a one-way ticket to Maddy’s, please.
Dalia’s pink puzzles-themed party kept things classy and creative. The party strategically used geometry to bring intriguing design elements to life, from the tableware to the serving vessels.
Delicate details kept the pink palette light and feminine, while guests solved various puzzles around the party (including a brilliant, custom word search about the Bat Mitzvah girl).
We love a creative take on a classic theme. In this case, Disney magic took over for a Hocus Pocus-inspired dinner party. The evening featured a themed bounce house (and a dessert-induced sugar rush).
We’re spellbound by the party’s stunning candy cart, as well as the custom cocktails named after each witch — wins for both the kids and adults.
Reality TV star Teddi Mellencamp did not disappoint when it came to her daughter’s 2nd birthday. Knowing Teddi’s love for punk rock style (and probably a good pun), the “Born 2 Rock” theme was born.
Mellencamp shared on Instagram that her daughter “partied like a rock star! If rock stars drank juice, ate with their hands, and went to bed at 7PM.” Sounds like the perfect night to us.
When it comes to choosing your party theme, it all comes down to personality. Think about your favorite colors, music genre, brands, cuisine, hobbies — and go from there.
Whether you’re brainstorming a unique party theme for your wedding after-party, your little one’s birthday, your next anniversary, or your upcoming bachelorette party, you’ll find the best inspiration for your event at PartySlate.com.
When it comes to corporate event trends, the most significant one is the return of BIG in-person gatherings. Renee Peterson of Swanson Signature Events shares, “Corporations are ready to make up for lost time and get their people together again. Remote work has sent team members into their homes and they are feeling disconnected. They are ready to celebrate business, work, and each other with some fun events.”
Valentina Marianetti of DJ Valentina notes that with these big events comes big budgets. She says, “A larger spending budget is being allotted for events celebrating employees. Although they played it safe and cancelled gatherings of any kind in the past couple of years, companies are most certainly making up for it now.”
We expect to see companies and brands host corporate events that boast meaningful interactions. “As in-person events have made a comeback in 2022, we’ve seen our clients continue to highlight the networking opportunities available as much as they emphasize the educational opportunities. We believe this is a big shift from the lack of in-person events due to the pandemic,” says Tori Soper of Tori Soper Photography.
Additionally, corporate events in 2023 will feature more interactive experiences. “People want something to do and something to interact with, such as immersive décor or shows that include guest participation,” says Remy Connor of Inked Magician.
Tracie Simon of LeFeast adds, “Almost all of my clients want interactive experiences, either through the way food is served or through the entertainment guests will enjoy. As much as attendees are excited to get out, they want to attend an event that offers more than the average cocktail party. My clients are on board and are looking to surprise and delight their guests from beginning to end.”
Learn how to do just that with our list of 21 corporate event trends for 2023.
Jodi Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events says, “Corporate events are using more branding and technology.”
And when it comes to where branding and technology meet, Ryan Hill of Apotheosis Events says, “Immersive and interactive continue to be the biggest buzz words in corporate entertaining and brand activations. Brands and corporations want a 360-degree experience for the brand and/or the product.”
1. Projection Mapping Transforms Spaces

The ceiling is an oft-forgotten space for projections
Chicago, IL
Jodi Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events shares, “We have been using specialty lighting effects and projection mapping for events.”
This spring gala from the team featured a projection-mapped tent ceiling that shifted throughout the evening from snowy mountain views to starry skies, underscoring the nature-forward foundation being fêted.
Transport your guests to another locale with projection mapping
Nashville, TN
Lucky attendees arrived at Nightscape in Nashville — only to find themselves in Italy. The venue transported guests of this dinner party to an Italian villa using their built-in 360° projection mapping. Projections even directed guests to their seats (click below to see how) for themed cocktails and menus at this immersive dining experience.
2. Audio-Visual Teams Are Elevating Event Experiences

Lighting can transform an outdoor space
Los Angeles, CA
HBO celebrated the premiere of “Game of Thrones” with an icy blue event, photographed by Gabor Ekecs Photography. The party featured electric blue lighting and a wow-worthy projection design that helped the display of show costumes really stand out, while creating a moody vibe (fit for the show).

An A/V team can help create a surprise moment

Michael Kuntz of Media West Events says, “Regardless of the event being virtual, in-person, or hybrid, companies need highly experienced event production partners who can support these hallmark events.” He also notes the importance of production quality to ensure that all participants can see and hear the presentations and performances.
We appreciate how an experienced audio-visual team can create a spectacle, like their team did at this corporate summit.

QR codes allow for quick connections

Tori Soper of Tori Soper Photography has photographed many corporate events, and shares what she’s seeing: “Many events use an app to help attendees navigate the conference or trade show. We’re also seeing the use of QR codes and digital business cards that allow attendees to connect easily.”
The pictured conference was filled with educational and networking opportunities, augmented by digital connections and information.
Renee Peterson of Swanson Signature Events shares, “We are working on a 50th anniversary for a local plant for more than 2,000 people. Our theme will be ‘Party like it’s 1973.’ They are excited about throwing it back to simpler times and groovier music. We see themes returning to create a cohesive aesthetic as well as an overall vibe for activities, décor, entertainment, refreshments, and swag in the new year.”
1440 Event Design collaborated with Chicago Casino Suppliers to curate a themed “What’s the Password” corporate event where guests donned their gangster-best to gamble and mingle with Al Capone and their coworkers.
This 007-themed holiday party from the expert corporate planners, Ladidadi Events & Incentives, offered several special-ops photo ops, interactive opportunities, and loads of Bond-themed décor and entertainment.

Incorporate your theme into the service of your dishes
New York, NY
“Many of my clients place culinary experiences at the top of their priority list, and they want their guests to be wowed by the flavors and the presentation. Incorporating catering into the flow and theme is important to them,” says Tracie Simon of experienced planning firm, LeFeast.
She adds, “For example, one of my clients hosted a ‘Through the Looking Glass’ tasting event where soup was served from tea pots. Food and beverage is art, and more and more, I see it being incorporated into the design and overall feel of the event.”

Let the brand’s hue inspire a party palette
New York, NY
This Smirnoff Pink Lemonade launch from Rose Gold Collective has us tickled hot-pink. Magenta-hued palm fronds added a tropical vibe as did a lush fern-filled photo spot and flamingo-print linen.
Chambers Eat + Drink provided a spectacular space for this corporate event that was lit in red hues. The bright color was carried onto tabletop linen, seating, and florals for a dramatic monochromatic vision.
Noelle McInerney of Ladidadi Events & Incentives shares, “A recent client engaged their team with a half-day offsite meeting in the North Shore of Oahu.” She notes that instead of a ballroom, “They opted for an open air pavilion with floor cushions and soft seating” — a much more pleasant experience in every way.
Tori Soper of Tori Soper Photography shares, “The trend that stands out to us the most is that many of our event clients are transitioning their keynote and plenary session seating from rows of chairs with tables to a set-up that resembles a living room, with comfortable lounge chairs and couches. This may only work for small to mid-size events, but for attendees, it surely seems like a more comfortable and appealing experience.”

Luxe lounge seating allows guests to connect with each other
Austin, TX
Anna Crelia of Loot Rentals, who supplies corporate and social events with signature style, shares, “We have seen a rise in clients requesting more lounge areas with a focus on allowing more space for the guests to breathe. Long gone are the days of cramming hundreds of people into a room at boring tables. Large corporate events and parties are moving outside; and for the ballroom-type events, they make sure to have plenty of seating and tables so that people have ample room to move around and stretch out.”
“We are finding that corporate clients love to include their products whenever possible into the menu items and the overall design,” says Jodi Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events.
Kristin Atlas of Live Nation agrees, saying, “Branding is a big focus! From tabletops to floor decals, stairways, entrances, and tv’s throughout, the more branding opportunities, the better.”

Daughter of Design evoked the chic brand, Beautyblender, at every turn (literally as the event included a roller rink) with this experiential activation. The 80s disco-glam party featured immersive projection mapping that kept the brand front and center all evening for the celebrity make-up bloggers and influencer guests. Partygoers danced, rollerskated, and tested new products while 80s retro music and dance performances kept them entertained.
Emma Roberts of Capers Catering says, “Signature custom bars and lounge furniture are hot right now. Branded, vinyl-wrapped dance floors are an effective, and popular, way to stand out.”
Our very own recent PartySlate Boston gathering included creative fare from the Capers team, as well as branded moments galore — from the custom napkins by MY DRAP to the custom dance floor wrap from PEAK Event Services — all in the breathtaking rooftop space at 9OFS.
“I love a subtle nod to a company logo. Muddling Memories is a company that specializes in beverage experiences, and I love working with them on unique drinks where logos can be incorporated. We recently did an event where they branded a company logo into ice cubes, onto a lemon peel, and through a stencil with cinnamon,” shares Tracie Simon of LeFeast.
Heidi Hiller of Innovative Party Planners shares, “Hosts are paying attention to guests’ dietary preferences, offering vegetarian and or vegan options, as well as non-soda beverages.” Make sure to check out PartySlate’s latest catering trend predictions for 2023. We’ll give you a hint: Vegan treats have never been sweeter.

Offer options for all guests
Chicago, IL
“In addition to more grab-and-go options, including food trucks, catering has also upscaled with more diverse options that appeal to vegetarians/vegans and those with dietary restrictions,” says Tori Soper of Tori Soper Photography.
Hyatt Regency Chicago hosted their annual management meeting (pictured here) with well-considered menu options to please all palates.
It’s fitting that this wellness luncheon featured thoughtful, healthy catering options from the talented team at ONTHEMARC Events. Guests were delighted by the chef’s market table, green smoothies, and gazpacho bar with fresh toppings that proved that good-for-you can also be really good.
Kristin Atlas of Live Nation says, “Mocktails are a popular offering right now! Not all guests drink, so it’s important to have a fun alternative for everyone. There are so many creative mocktails that we can always name specifically for the client as a specialty mocktail for an event.”
“Ending the evening with a variety of bite-sized desserts with a decaf coffee rather than another shot of whisky is a positive trend that we like to see,” adds Renee Peterson of Swanson Signature Events.

Frederique Henriot of The Altman Building shares that his team is seeing, “cocktail receptions with fun stations, where food is being made in front of clients. They are ‘food activations’ rather than just buffets.”
The venue plays hosts to corporate gatherings of all kinds, including PartySlate’s own seasons-themed celebration, at which Thomas Preti Events to Savor wowed with delectable handmade corn and mushroom tortelloni. The team prepared the savory bites in front of guests against a display of fresh mushrooms which underscored their commitment to quality ingredients.

New York, NY
Rhubarb Hospitality Collection hosted a launch party for the beautiful new venue, Chelsea Square, located in the heart of Manhattan. The catering company brought attention-getting fare with live activations like a homemade mozzarella station where chefs pulled mozzarella for the freshest possible dish — and buzzed-about station.
“I think that corporate planners have a huge influence in getting their clients to understand that the WOW factor is a major piece of the puzzle — providing guests with a jaw-dropping experience from the moment they walk in. From lighting and music to food and interactive stations, it has been a whole different scene,” shares Valentina Marianetti of DJ Valentina, an entertainment provider who can frequently be found filling dance floors at corporate events.
Tori Soper of Tori Soper Photography shares, “Our corporate event clients are doing their best to deliver offerings from which all attendees can benefit. We’ve seen increased interest in and bookings of our Headshot Lounge, where we offer high-volume, corporate headshots with instant image delivery.”
At this National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) conference, Soper’s team provided headshots for 450 attendees, complete with hair and make-up styling, white and grey backdrops, a lead capture database, and a sponsor-branded slideshow with the best headshots from each day.

PartySlate’s own most recent Dallas gathering featured a unique “Back to School” theme from Pop Parties. The event included learning panels followed by a party with a “teacher’s lounge” and “yearbook photos.” The “Picture Day” station from the photography team at Grant Daniels provided direction and encouragement to event professionals looking to refresh their headshots against a styled backdrop.
“Whether it is gathering the team from across the country for a one day conference and party, or hosting a wellness day, corporate clients are taking care of their teams. They are looking for meaningful interactions and unusual event experiences for their staff,” says Heidi Hiller of Innovative Party Planners.
Renee Peterson of Swanson Signature adds, “Now that teams are together again, they want to be entertained and DO something. Corporate groups enjoy ATV trekking, skeet shooting, axe throwing, zip lining, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and glass blowing. If we are limited to a hotel ballroom or event space, casino and carnival games can be a fun addition to a traditional evening of dinner and dancing.”
Emma Roberts of Capers Catering concurs, saying, “Corporate clients are excited to include more fun, entertaining elements. Mini golf, casinos, photo booths, food trucks, DJs, and so on have been very popular.”

Noelle McInerney of Ladidadi Events & Incentives shares of a recent client offsite in Oahu, “We offered multiple activities including yoga, shark cage diving, stargazing, and even make-your-own bleach dye t-shirt station.” Attendees appreciated the opportunity to learn as well as unwind.

New York, NY
Patrick Clayton of Patrick J Clayton Productions says, “I think experiences over more traditional meeting content are preferred. There are more things to take pictures and especially video with. These interactive elements that incorporate the educational message are a home run — and they’re more fun than a traditional meeting.”
Debbie Meyers of BRAVO Entertainment shared the following trend for corporate events: “Intimate performances by headline entertainers are all the rage — from backyard parties with Green Day to up-close-and-personal performances with Clint Black!”
Kristin Atlas of Live Nation (a company that knows a thing or two about big name performers) agrees, saying, “National entertainment and big name performers are in high demand! It’s such a great WOW moment for guests.”

Tailor your entertainment to your theme
Alexandria, VA
“I recently had a client that launched a new publication of The Secret Garden; and while thinking through the flow of the event, we concluded that we needed a host — someone outside of the executives to guide our guests through the night. We created “Lord Frances” who greeted and joked with guests during cocktail hour, invited them to dinner, and gave an opening speech before introducing the CEO. His enthusiasm and character organically encouraged guests to explore and purchase the product,” says Tracie Simon of LeFeast.

“We did a grand opening event for a new Porsche Dealership and featured our new Sway Poles highlighting the company’s brand on the outside of the building! Aside from a band/DJ combo, there are stilt walkers, performers, talented musicians on lollipop stands, and more!” says Valentina Marianetti of DJ Valentina.
Remy Connor of Inked Magician says, “I believe the trend is curving towards those who are providing interactive entertainment. It’s not enough to just see something anymore, people actively want to be involved. That’s where I thrive as a magician: creating illusions that require guest participation.”

Art as entertainment and a photo spot is a unique branding opportunity
Playa Flamingo, Provincia de Guanacaste
Noelle McInerney of Ladidadi Events & Incentives shares, “Entertainment doesn’t have to live on a stage! We’re seeing clients divvy up their entertainment budgets in order to have multiple (often surprise) entertaining experiences.”
Live event painting has been popular at weddings for a while now, but this twist has us excited about this unique entertainment at corporate events: a picture-perfect neon logo.
Noelle McInerney of Ladidadi Events & Incentives says, “We have seen a trend in corporate off-sites to involve a much more balanced split of time between meetings and content, with time for team-building and socialization. Clients are looking for locations that really help pull their teams out of the normal day-to-day so that they can become totally present and go deep with their teams.”

17. Venues With Adaptable Technology Make Events Immersive
Tori Soper of Tori Soper Photography says she’s seeing a “shift toward venues with more inspiring spaces and hybrid technology that elevate the attendees’ experience.”

Hybrid events mean more attendees can be included
New York, NY
Frederique Henriot of The Altman Building shares, “Several of our corporate clients are planning to come back to NYC for their event, and we are very excited about it! But with inflation, the cost of traveling, and a forecasted economic slowdown, most companies will plan to keep a digital component in their conferences and plan for ‘hybrid’ events.
“Broadcasting and Livestreaming will be incorporated into event budgets. For event venues, it means smaller-sized corporate events that are tightly curated with rigorous programing. We are certainly prepared to answer this demand as over 30% of our 2022 corporate events fell into this format.”

1. Goodbye Paper Menus, Hello Printed Bar Furniture
Being eco-conscious is always in vogue. Ditch the paper menus and elevate your bar area with a sleek design that showcases your cuisine offerings. Of course, don’t be surprised when the bar area or catering station becomes the main photo op of your event.
Work with your rentals company to create a bar setup or catering station that matches your event aesthetic. Don’t be afraid to lean into neutrals (another 2023 party trend) for a look that’s clean, yet elevated.

This moody wedding brought a glamorous touch to an industrial venue. Guests flocked to the bar area to both sip and visualize their choice of martinis, wine, or mint juleps. Next up, guests paid a visit to the seafood station where the most glamorous of small bites captured the spirit of this elevated celebration.
Make sure to see how plenty of tapered candlelight and crystal draped chandeliers perfected the vibe.
Pizza just got a new look at this boho tented wedding set against the Rocky Mountains. Long-designated as a late-night snack, this college staple held its own next to signature cocktails and romantic tablescapes — thanks to ultra chic catering furniture.
Make sure to check out other delicious bites such as pickle-crowned sliders, New York cheesecake, and perfectly toasted tortilla chips with a dollop of fresh salsa.
Last year, we were wowed by clear shelving that made creative catering appear to float; this year, we’re crushing on festive food walls. However, both of these are stationary solutions. What about when you want to bring beautiful bites right to your guests?
We adore these unique tray-passed installations that act as décor and tie to each celebration’s theme. We find ourselves dreaming of ring boxes holding caviar on crackers for an engagement party, baby buggy crudité for a shower, and Rubik’s cubes as cupcake stands on trays for a fun 80’s-theme party.
photographer: Katie Prichard | caterer: 24 Carrots Catering and Events | rentals: Found Rental Co.
How better to celebrate an anniversary for a luxe event rentals company than with miniature versions of their gorgeous chair selections? We love how the reason for the event extended to the catering service, including their mini trucks that served as containers for bites.
Don’t miss the event’s grateful tagline as emblazoned on a basket and greenery wall, as well as event signage.
Here’s what we know about Jerry: He is partial to tie-dye, appreciates a good Beef Wellington, and loves live music. All of that and more combined into one memorable birthday; “JerryPalooza” featured fun moments like mini guitar cases serving up custom appetizers and full-sized guitars acting as trays.
Click through to see the perfect 60s-party themed backdrop for the band.
For years, savvy caterers have been preparing perfectly-composed single-bite fare. We don’t know about you, but appetizers are pretty much our favorite thing to sample at every party. But, with cocktails, you have to commit to a whole glass — and unless you’ve got rock star tolerance, how many of the bar’s offerings you can sample?
Enter one-sip cocktails. We’re not talking about a shot meant to be gulped, but a carefully-curated drink with balanced flavors and fresh garnishes. In fact, we’re seeing one-sip options for mocktails too, meaning guests of all ages and inclinations can enjoy imbibing.
photographer: Terri Baskin Photography | planner: Perfect Planning Events | floral: Nature of Design | venue, catering & bar: Sequoia
Our PartySlate gathering in Washington, D.C. featured lots of firsts for us: a caviar bar, a city-themed soirée, and one-sip drinks. There were beautifully-composed spoonfuls of Moscow Mules with crisp sprigs of mint and test tube mocktails that were pleasing combinations of fresh squeezed juices in a ombré of hues and flavors.
Don’t miss all of the Capitol City theming throughout the party, including clever menu signage in the form of the Washington Memorial.
Is a wedding or party complete without a Champagne tower? No matter how many years pass, the Champagne tower keeps making its appearance at celebrations around the world. Luckily, this classic idea continues to reinvent itself.
This year, expect to see Champagne towers without the Champagne. You read that right. Instead of our favorite bubbly, we plan on enjoying everything from martini towers to stacked Aperol Spritzes. It’s time to toast to evolving trends.
photographer: Sergio Sandoná Photography | venue: Cipriani Hotel Venice
Glam Martini Tower
Venecia, Véneto
You might expect to find James Bond on the guest list at this glamorous all-white wedding. A martini tower glimmered along with the towering candelabras and moody amber lighting.
Make sure to step inside this wedding weekend to see other stunning moments such as a romantic boat ride through the Venetian canals and an outdoor ceremony surrounded by garden greenery.
This romantic garden wedding wowed with curated pops of color throughout the event — from an aperol spritz tower to bright blue glassware (stay tuned for more trends tied to the color blue).
You’ll also love the gold geometric chandeliers, winding greenery, and delicate pastel blooms that evoked southern charm with just a touch of whimsy.
5. Specialty Cocktail Walls for an Immersive Photo Op
We’ve seen plenty of Champagne walls over the years. But just as Champagne towers are making way for other elevated sips, self-serve walls are embracing everything from signature cocktails to “your beverage, your way.”
Best of all, specialty cocktails walls pair form with function. Consider your wall a blank canvas to reflect your style, party theme, and color palette. You might even find guests eschewing the photo booth to strike a pose while filling their glass.
photographer: Rachael Osborn Photography | planner: Ohana Events | floral: Thistle and Plume | venue: Mae District Event Venue | catering: Food For Thought | rentals: Hall’s Rental Service, Inc
This stylish blue and peach wedding kept the vibe fresh and whimsical with airy drapery, muted linen, and playful bright florals. We especially love how the specialty cocktail wall served up strawberry mojitos that continued the curated pops of peach throughout the celebration.
Make sure to also check out the self-serve appetizer wall where guests were able to indulge in tangy cucumber shooters, chilled yellow tomato gazpacho, and other delectable treats.

Margaritas Made to Please
Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur
This destination wedding wowed with thoughtful details like woven welcome baskets, personalized place settings, and a self-serve margarita wall. Even the pickiest eaters were won over with the opportunity to choose from mild to spicy sips.
Make sure to check out the beach wedding ceremony for picturesque views and an abundance of white roses for ultra-romantic vibes.
Mini charcuterie boards hit the big time two years ago, but 2023 is ushering in a new level of elegance with personal seafood towers. Think monogrammed ice in perfect plate-sized portions filled with luxe servings of shellfish.
We love the high level of personalization and pampering. Work with your top catering company to create a memorable moment like this.
photographer: Forever Day Photos | planner: 34th Street Events | floral: Keisha’s Kreations | chef: Chef Javani King | menus: Oda Creative
We’re seeing ice used in all sorts of creative ways at every type of celebration, from full bars constructed of ice to mini floral-filled cubes accenting cocktails. But combining luxuries and giving each guest their own personal seafood charcuterie served on a slab of monogrammed ice is truly next level — and we love it.
Don’t forget to click to see more photos of this 48th-birthday dinner (why wait for years that end in “zero” to celebrate?) and the other creative ways the monogram was used throughout the event.
Surprisingly, this personal seafood tower served on monogrammed ice may be the least impressive detail of this gorgeous wedding. Think elegant, yet whimsical, florals suspended from the ceiling, a gilded birdcage photo spot, and performers standing on the reception tables.
Oh, and did we mention the Elvis impersonator? You’re gonna want to see more.
There’s no better time for luxury than at a wedding or milestone celebration — and caviar is one of the most luxurious items you can serve. Caviar stations are in high fashion again as we find ourselves in a new era of the Roaring Twenties.
We love when thoughtful caterers pair caviar with a selection of flavors that accent its tiny bursts of rich ocean flavor. Include caviar for a celebration that would make Gatsby himself proud.
We adore both the theming of this party and the reason: a full moon. There are so many special touches like mirrored quarter-moon menus and dreamy orbs of light, but the roaming caviar bar is among our favorites. Is true luxury having caviar or having it being served to you wherever you happen to be?
Click to see the whimsical baby’s breath centerpieces and ikebana-style white florals that evoke the moon’s glow.
Caviar and elegance are synonymous. At our Washington D.C. gathering, we were lucky to be able to offer guests a bit of opulence with sustainably-raised California White Sturgeon. Guests were wowed by the rich flavor and the sophistication of the service.
Click through to see the full event and explore all of the clever corporate branding at the celebration.
We all know white wine goes with fish and fowl, while red wine is best with red meat. But what about dessert? It turns out, wine was also made for cheese and chocolates (the perfect after-dinner indulgence).
You can even add an immersive element to your wine pairings by turning dessert into a wine tasting with multiple vintages. With so many reasons to toast, your celebration will benefit from this thoughtful attention to detail.

Wine glasses topped with mini acrylic platters meant guests could mingle without the hassle of carrying their glass and plate in separate hands.
Make sure to see other unique catering moments throughout this experiential activation. Guests enjoyed everything from an “eat your bubble” dish to hand-made ravioli with herbs and edible blooms.
We are loving this new trend that pairs the pomp of theater with the tradition of milestone celebrations. Curtain cakes feature draped icing that, when cut, will part to reveal a delectable cake below. If all eyes are on a cake during it’s cutting, why not infuse a little extra drama with an of-the-moment design?

Free-Flowing Fête
Coachella, CA
This tropical boho wedding brought free-spirited style from its tabletops and lighting to its cake. Pampas grass is the boho adornment that just keeps giving, and we adore how the draped icing mimics a bride’s train.
Make sure to see how the reception created a chic vibe with bohemian basket lighting and dried palm fronds. We also love how the sweets table spelled it out.
A christening is the perfect opportunity for a special touch like a draped cake. The swathes of icing cascade like the celebration’s hydrangeas and orchids and the greenery hanging from the ceiling. We love the elegant aesthetic.
Make sure to see the dinner’s luxe-neutral tablescapes and cute custom cookies.
Mushrooms are having a moment. They offer dishes a deep umami flavor as menus are trending toward more meat-free options. But, we’re not here to talk about mushroom dishes — but rather mushroom décor.
It’s no surprise that mushrooms have jumped off of plates and joined the party. After all, they’ve long held a place in pop culture — from the mushroom dancers in Fantasia to the “Super Mushroom” in Super Mario.
But now, we’re seeing the rich hues, intricate natural designs, and inherent whimsy of mushrooms at the chicest of events.
photographer: Scott Clark Photo | planner: Neon River Weddings| décor: East Olivia | venue: Sound River Studios
This truly unique wedding featured a bride decked in black satin, skyline nuptials, and bodega-inspired food and drink stands. Not to be outdone, the bride’s bouquet featured dramatic, richly-hued oyster mushrooms mixed in with equally-dramatic florals.
Don’t miss the vintage-style photo booth and chic raw space.
This whimsical wedding featured a lovely design that incorporated mushrooms in a creative way. From the morels and porcinis that accented the place card display to the mushroom-inspired party favors, we adore every detail.
Don’t miss the bagpiper who walked the wedding aisle.
Move over, minimalism. Epic décor pieces are back, and we couldn’t be happier. Thick ceremony arches are as big and momentous as the moment at hand. Curved or boxy, the shape is up to you. Just remember, the bigger the better. We’re talking more florals, more greenery, and more wow-factor.
Remember, the arch is the focal point of your celebration and the backdrop to your wedding vows. Work with your design & floral team to determine your arch shape and materials. With the right design team, even traditional flower fillers (like baby’s breath) can make a big impact.
photographer: Sarah Kate, Photographer | planner: Pop Parties | floral: David Kimmel Design
This beautiful tented wedding paired free-flowing lines with structured elements. We love how billowing drapery and an organic, wooded backdrop softened the boxy, white rose arch.
Make sure to also check out the wedding reception where guests danced the night away beneath lavish ceiling décor and undulating drapery.
The dramatic Malibu landscape, with lush greenery and rugged hills, demands décor of equal magnitude. This stunning, floral-filled wedding delivered just that with a towering, ivy-covered wedding arch studded with pink florals.
Make sure to see how this scene became even more romantic with a nighttime wedding ceremony filled with candlelight at every step.
The most memorable celebrations deliver the unexpected. We’ve grown accustomed to certain party staples (think centerpieces, dance floors, and uplighting), but we’re always on the lookout for that something more.
Wedding ceiling decorations promise to take your party venue to the next level. Suddenly, a venue becomes more than just an event space. It’s a place where memories are made and milestones are celebrated. This year, we expect to see guests staring up in wonder at overhead arches and floating centerpieces. Look for clean lines and structured, geometric shapes — with an abundance of fresh blooms.

A perfect square of upended white tulips floats mysteriously above the wedding altar. A backdrop of floating shelves lined with petite vases impresses with its unique design.
Make sure to keep reading to see how this unique trend carried over to a stunning reception space.
The transition from ceremony to reception at this Dallas wedding was flawless. A circle of lavender-hued, suspended tulips crowned the transparent-tented space. We love how the pop of purple lends a whimsical, yet elegant touch to this all-white wedding space.
Disco balls and a dance-all-night parties are a natural pairing. But now, we’re seeing disco balls adorn the most elegant of events — and in different hues. From gold to pink, these mirrored orbs are a design statement that says: “Welcome to a party that is equal parts glamour and fun.”
Beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury is synonymous with bombshell glamour, so it makes sense that the company’s “Summer of Glowing Skin” launch would be equally captivating. We can’t get enough of the pink disco balls that outfit lounge areas as well as the stations and displays showing off their new line.
Don’t miss the stunning ocean views that embody summer.
What’s pink and gold and chic all over? This glam Bat Mitzvah party. We adore the ombré of pink hues and how they carry from the balloon arches to the lounge furniture. But the gold amps up the vibe, from a mirrored DJ stand to the gold-mirrored disco balls adorning the ceiling.
Click to see the all-gold dance floor and clip-in hair station that kept guests having fun all night long.
London calling — vintage telephone boxes have crossed the pond and are adorning all kinds of thoroughly-American celebrations. We love how floral teams are reimagining the antique British staples as striking design moments.
From chic colors to filled with flowers, these staples of a bygone era are making the newest celebrations feel fresh. Dial up your designer now to request one.
This pinkalicious bridal shower set the tone with artistic invitations featuring the bride-to-be in a London-style phone booth. The clever take on the “ring-ring” theme included a floral-flanked photo booth photo spot and many more very-personal touches.
Don’t miss every single glamorous pink and gold design moment, including the clever mask taglines.

This modern wedding featured not only personal touches like a timeline of the happy couple’s relationship, but also inspired design. We adore its all-white take on a vintage phone booth — complete with an antique phone.
Don’t miss the unique towering square cake and the custom, monogrammed cocktails.
15. Follow the Fashion Trends With Pearl Décor Accents
Pearls are going to be all over 2023 wedding fashions, so expect event designs to follow suit. We’re envisioning pearl-studded cakes, bouquets with pearl accents, pearl-beaded invitations, and more. Of course, we expect the unexpected; so look for pearl décor in the most unique installations like in the event below.
Insider’s tip: Keep reading to see how this trend foreshadows another 2023 trend on the list.
This chic garden baby shower utilized a soft color palette of pale green and white for a fresh, yet delicate aesthetic. We are in love with the sweets table that featured custom-designed donuts and white-frosted strawberries — and most impressively, a zipline with suspended pearl-lined sweet trays.
Peruse the photo album to see other unique details such as the leaf-pressed cake that brought a new twist to the 2022 pressed-flower cake trend.
16. Mix & Match Glassware Creates an Eclectic Table
The most memorable tables combine contrasting elements to create interest. Last year, we were gaga for green glassware and how it was outfitting chic celebrations everywhere — but now, one hue simply isn’t enough.
Designers are mixing and matching colorful glassware to create a totally-personal aesthetic. We’re seeing vintage and modern styles in all colors of the rainbow. Ask your rentals team about the range of glassware that they offer.

Say I Do to Amber & Blue
Athens, Greece
This glowing Greek wedding married the sunset, string lights, and stylish design for a remarkable reception. We appreciate the alternating hues of glasses that picked up colors from the lush arrangements.
Click to see how lemons brought more freshness to the affair.
From the balloon installations to the whimsical tabletops, this children’s birthday party featured fun moments galore. We adore how the pastel rainbow palette made its way to the tabletops in delicate multi-hued glassware.
Don’t miss the chic bounce house (yes, you read that right) and the sundae station.
It’s time for a fun twist to a classic design. Even though we love Grandma’s aesthetic (see below), that doesn’t mean we’ve written off technology completely. Black and white checkered dance floors are leaning into high tech with Instagram-worthy optical illusions.
Pro Tip: Make sure you enlist the help of a great band to get your guests on the dance floor.

Hi Tech, Full Color
Clarksburg, CA
From the moment the couple entered the ballroom to a shower of confetti, this party was in full swing. Guests, dressed to the nines, flocked to the high-tech checkered dance floor for a night of high-energy celebration.
Make sure to see the metallic balloon décor, emerald wedding cake, and moody tablescapes for even more inspiration.
18. 60s Themed Parties Bring Peace & Love to a New Era
The 60s are groovy again, baby. The pandemic saw a revival of tie-dye, with many using their “shelter in place” time to create their own custom garb. Other fashion, design, and décor inspiration from the era weren’t far behind: Enter the era of the 60s-theme party.
The “far out” bright colors and oversized graphics of the decade are adorning everything from corporate events to 60th-birthday parties. We dig the vivid palettes and the all-hits playlist of a 60s theme. The flower power is strong with these events.
photographer: Dennis Lee Photography | planner: Rachel De Marte Events | décor: HMR Designs | venue: private residence | Frost Chicago
This music festival-themed 60th-birthday party transported guests to the swinging sixties. We adore the colorful, totally groovy stage backdrop, tie-dye inspired signage, and oodles of daisy décor. Every detail of this “JerryPalooza” helped create a festive environment.

This party is retro done right. From the Mister Softee truck to the groovy dance floor, we are wowed. The immersive clear-tented celebration evoked the era with a palette of yellow and orange with pops of green. The party rocked the theme from the linen to the custom dance floor.
You really don’t want to miss the upended daisies ceiling installation.
We always knew Grandma was cool. As the world leans into newer technologies, part of us yearns for a simpler time — back when families gathered at the tables without cellphones, and board games brought people together.
As vintage weddings gain in popularity, we’re seeing some of Nana’s favorites back in vogue: China place settings, artful embroidery, and good old-fashioned cast iron skillets. You might as well say, “Everything old is new again.”
photographer: Diana Feil | planner: Party Crush Events | floral: Dogwood + Fir Floral
This one-of-a-kind kid’s birthday cake is straight out of Grandma’s embroidery collection. It’s hard to believe that the icing is really icing and not the backdrop of a hook rug.
Take a peek inside this enchanted birthday party to see how these cakes started as blank canvases (yes, you read that right). Guests had the opportunity to indulge in arts and crafts before sampling their delicious artwork.
Back in Grandma’s kitchen, fine china was a staple of any celebratory meal. We love how every piece of china is a work of art. The delicately-painted birds and butterflies on this wedding china complement the garden wedding aesthetic found throughout the reception.

20. Earthy Palettes are Giving Muted Minimalism Vibes
Earth, Wind, & Fire had their moment, but now we’re loving Earth, Sand, & Clay. Layered neutrals are creating a chic aesthetic at the most high-profile celebrations, including Kim Kardashian’s most recent dinner party.
Conjure a stylish desert vibe at your next party. Select a palette that includes wheat, tan, cream, and almond — then build interest with textures like linen, basket weaves, wood grain, and even interesting shadows (your av/lighting team is your best friend here). You can even encourage guests to dress in trendy neutral hues — just imagine how gorgeous the party pictures will be.
At this ILIA Beauty celebration of inspirational women, guests enjoyed an open-air dinner party and an elegant neutral palette. We love how layered shades built on each other for a cohesive design.
Click to see creative catering moments and how Ikebana-style florals elevated the soirée.
For couples looking for a bolder wedding color palette, it’s time to consider a blue wedding. In a world of blue skies and deep-blue oceans, it was only a matter of time before we turned to nature for inspiration.
Whether you’re looking for a light and preppy aesthetic or something more glamorous and modern, blue is the hue that keeps on giving. It’s time to embrace blue hydrangea, drapery, linen, and more.
Modern meets ultra romantic at this outdoor engagement party. We love how billowy-blue drapery creates canopy tenting with blue-sky views while lavish hydrangea cascades from tablescape to polished black flooring.
See other picture-perfect details such as sleek black chargers, velvet seating, and opaque blue glassware.
We love the variety of blue hues and patterns at this outdoor tented wedding. China and vases pair with solid and patterned blue-hued linen. Bright blue hydrangea and white candles continue the blue and white color palette.
Click to see the blue hydrangea bouquets for wedding portraits with a whimsical pop of color.
Airy, naturally-lit photos have their place — and they’re not going anywhere. But an increase in flash photography at weddings and events is really catching our eye. Nothing adds drama quite like well-placed flashes of light and the resulting deep shadows.
Flash photography tells us where to focus. It points out what’s important and shades what is not. The flash directs the eye, a magic trick performed successfully by only the most skilled artists (choose your event photographer wisely).
photographer: Ben and Kelly Photography | planner: Amy Mancuso Events | floral design: Jose Graterol Designs | venue: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North
The photographer for this elegant wedding captured the perfect sunset-moody shot of the happy couple under their truly magnificent chuppah. Daytime images are nice — but, wow, this one is evocative.
You’re gonna want to click through to see the glowing all-pink ballroom reception and the glamorous tabletops.
A disco theme is perfect for flash photography. A disco is a naturally dark place, and we love how this engagement party is photographed with flashes of light illuminating the most chic details of the party.
Don’t miss the on-point invitations, signage, and napkins that make for a personalized affair.
Drone shows are a trend that is really emerging in popularity. To be clear, we are not talking about drone photography (which has become a must for capturing any outdoor wedding or party), but about drones filling a night sky with a light show.
There is a certain spectacle we’ve all come to expect with a well-done fireworks display, but how about upending your guests’ expectations altogether? A drone show is a carefully choreographed collection of lighted drones which create interesting aerial formations. They can be synchronized to music for an even more immersive experience.

On Tuesday, December 6, hundreds of southern tastemakers and top event professionals made their way to Charleston for PartySlate’s “Fêter En Blanc Seaside” at the historic Festival Hall. Event planner for the affair, Tori Perano of Passera Events, shares, “The theme means ‘celebrate in white seaside.’ We incorporated French garden vibes with the coastal elegance of Charleston for a unique celebration.”
Festival Hall provided the perfect setting for the gathering, with its garden courtyard and sprawling main hall which is large and versatile enough to accommodate any theme, like this single-hued celebration. Perano notes that even guests were encouraged to don white for the party for a more immersive monochromatic experience — and also to “create that winter wonderland feel.”

A Glimpse of the Evening to Come
Guests were invited to PartySlate’s Charleston celebration via a luxe digital invitation, custom-designed for the gathering by The Luxe & Co.. The rental company offered a nod to the gathering’s theme with a beautifully understated, yet chic, composition that included the pale blue accent hue as well as botanical line prints that hinted at the garden inspiration.
The team also designed the party’s printed materials which directed guests and honored event partners.
Design: Southern Charm Mixed With European Style
Guests entered the soirée through Festival Hall’s dreamy Outdoor Courtyard which was outfitted with string lights hung amid the palms and other vegetation. The venue’s greenery wall offered the perfect backdrop for a PartySlate branding moment with gold letters framed by lush florals.
Jessie Johnson of Willow Event Designs, the talented décor team behind the event’s vision, says, “When we were finalizing the design for this party, our big focus was that it was going to be a winter-white party, at the seaside. Charleston has pretty mild weather, so we wanted to do a touch of ice blue to bring that winter feel. Since most white-hued parties are in the summer with people outside wearing white, we just decided to mix in this icy blue.”
She adds of the inspired floral selection, “One of my favorite parts of my job is ordering flowers. I just recently started ordering from a company from Holland, and I found these tulips called “frosted blue.” They were absolutely perfect for this event; they look like they are frosted just at the tips, which literally makes them look like they are covered with snow.
“The other flowers I’m excited about are paperwhites. I just love how dainty they are. I’m just obsessed with any kind of soft-stemmed flower that has a lot of character. Our floral designs are very whimsical and organic, and we like to do every event a little differently, so I think that is what is challenging and fun — that I get to always look for something that I don’t see every day.”
Once in the Main Hall, partygoers were greeted by a unique Champagne wall from the creatives at The Luxe & Co: a lion’s head fountain surrounded by a lattice of vines, French-style light blue and white tiles, and tulips and paperwhites. Guests only needed to ring one of the chic white bells for a hand to emerge between a circle of sheer curtains with a glass of bubbly from Squeeze Cocktails & Beverage Catering.
Upon entry, guests were wowed by the pale blue and white draping from LIT Charleston that extended from the 28-foot ceilings to fully enclose the space, creating an immersive environment and all-encompassing color story. The team also devised a lighting scheme that included icicle-like strands of string lights, specially curated gold drum pendants, pastel-hued uplights, and a roaming spotlight.
The design team used the inspired florals throughout the space. A trio of floating rings of greenery and upended floral chandeliers drew eyes upward where, from the towering ceilings, hung more than 600 white paper cranes.
Stacked marquee letters from Alpha Lit Charleston spelled out PartySlate in a spot perfect for snapping pics. Curated Events Charleston filled out the space with high-tops outfitted with luxe linen from Stradley Davidson, gorgeous light wood-framed lounge furniture with fluffy white cushions, and brass touches galore — from unique circular shelving to glass-topped cocktail tables. They ensured that guests had lots of places to relax and reconnect.
Johnson shares of her experience curating the special soirée: “Working with Tori is just amazing. When we put our heads together, we are just a force to be reckoned with. It makes such a difference when your team is all on the same page.”
Entertainment: A Mix of Musical Styles & a Snow Globe Surprise
Guests were entertained upon entry by the musical talents of a duo from EastCoast Entertainment, called The Rising Tide, playing guitar and keyboard. They set a festive atmosphere from the very beginning for partygoers reveling in the mild outdoor setting.
Once inside the glamorous gathering, guests flocked to the light-wood herringbone dance floor from Curated Events Charleston, who did the swanky staging as well. EastCoast Entertainment band, Tru Sol, played an epic selection of musical styles, imbuing each one with an energy and passion — from country and classic R&B to pop — that had guests clamoring for more.
And in a bit of interactive entertainment that appeared all over Instagram that night, Elevate provided a ballerina clad in white and silver who pirouetted in a bubble. Paper snow blew around the graceful dancer in the orb — a winter snow globe beautifully brought to life.
A screen to the side of the stage provided by Production Design Associates showcased PartySlate’s sleek event professional and venue profiles that are optimized to guide consumers through choosing their vendor team.
Fresh Fare: French-Inspired Lowcountry Cuisine
PartySlate’s catering partner for our Fêter En Blanc was none other than Rosemary & Rye Catering. The team cooked up a variety of tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and speciality stations that paid homage to the theme.
Passed bites included Lowcountry croquettes with smoked sausage, shrimp, red potatoes, and corn, gratinéed French onion soup served in demitasse cups, and endive stuffed with beets, gorgonzola, and hazelnuts. The soup was especially perfect for marrying the winter theme and French inspiration.
Of the composed stations, Rosemary & Rye’s Laurel Samuelson says, “We showcased braised short ribs with a traditional raclette.” The live raclette station featured a half wheel of cheese that was heated then scraped onto crispy French (of course) bread. Samuelson adds, “This was heavily influenced by our trip to Paris and their Christmas markets. The dish was inspired by being out in the cold and having mulled wine and visiting different shops — then the short rib adds Lowcountry flair and southern charm to the dish.”
In fact, the menu included several Lowcountry cuisine moments. Samuelson says, “Our shrimp and grits station offered two of our classic gravies — tomato gravy and tasso ham cream gravy with our Edisto Island grits, a local favorite. We added a crepe station in a nod to French cuisine, but infused southern flair with a pecan pie filling.” To add a savory option, guests could also get a crepe featuring the southern classic, pimento cheese.
Partygoers enjoyed the picturesque cuisine served on equally-beautiful delicate china that featured a pale blue botanical print on an alabaster background from Curated Events Charleston. The serve-ware was another design moment that tied back to the elegant French theme.
Alongside the delectable fare, attendees enjoyed curated cocktails by Squeeze Cocktails & Beverage Catering. A signature bar featured a sip called the “Smoke Show” with tequila, chartreuse, cynar, lemon juice, and sugar that was topped by a dramatic (and aromatic) smoke bubble. Another bar, a vision in white wood and brass from Curated Events (who provided both beautiful bars), offered Prosecco with pomegranate arils and rosemary sprigs and warm spiced apple cider, in addition to custom orders. Once again, MY DRAP offered tailor-made cotton PartySlate napkins to elevate the aesthetic.
All of the Memories Made (& Captured)
It was an evening worth remembering. We were lucky enough to have a duel-photography/videography team to beautifully capture the soirée, Katherine and Tyler Wedding Imagery + Films. They shot gorgeous candid pictures of guests interacting and having fun — as well as moving images that told the story of the celebration with a video that will remind the hundreds of guests of their good time (and will make those who weren’t there, wish they were).
Another memory-maker, Lowcountry Photo Booth, allowed partygoers the opportunity to select the type of memory they wanted to capture: still image, .gif, or short video. Plus, guests could utilize the white backdrop and add digital snowfall for a more seasonal mood.

So it should be of no surprise that this time of year also has us refreshing our feeds in anticipation of Pantone releasing their pick for the new year’s “it” color.
They have obliged us once again with their Pantone Color of the Year for 2023: Viva Magenta. Our team Slacks on the topic read a little something like this: “Is it purplish red? Or pinkish purple?” and “Check out their instagram story and reel — it’s like red meets pink meets purple. I think.”
Pantone shares that Viva Magenta is, “An unconventional shade for an unconventional time: a new vision.” Indeed. Magenta is vivid and bright with blue undertones that keep it moody. It’s the color of a rich Pinot Noir and the skin of a beautifully-ripe dragonfruit — and, according to science, it is a hue that only exists in our heads and in between colors of the rainbow. But that’s okay, we like our colors with a side of intrigue.
One thing is for sure, it’s the perfect bold shade for your own dramatic event. We’re here to help, once again matching Pantone’s chosen hue with all of the ways that it can be used at your 2023 celebration — and we’re pulling examples from real events to inspire your own special moments. Happy New Year and Viva Magenta!
“I normally shy away from anything remotely orange — and yet there I was, obsessed with the refreshing, yet warm hue of “Living Coral.” Jessica Terson, Editor
“It’s easy to say one likes yellow — but to actually use it in the home, your wardrobe, or party palette is another story. After the pure fire storm that was 2020, Illuminating was the color I never knew I needed.” Amanda Greenberg, Senior Content Marketing Manager
“To be totally honest, I’ve always been a purple girl — so when Very Peri came along I was, well, very excited.” Gianna Calistro, Senior Marketing Coordinator
“It doesn’t get more tried and true than Classic Blue. This particular hue reminds me of a warm summer day and makes me want to lie on a blanket and gaze up at the sky.” Pamela Rothbard, Editorial Director
Which flowers can I use at my event for a Viva Magenta accent?
Kontikiflor BV is an exporter of Dutch-cut flowers who supplies florals to design firms all over the world to outfit the most stunning weddings and milestone celebrations. Here are some flowers they grow in Viva Magenta, the new Pantone Color of 2023:
These beautiful Cymbidium (a member of the orchid family) originated in the Himalayas and can be found at great heights.
Amaryllis is a captivating flower that comes in many shapes and colors and is available in abundance from November to March.
Burgundy Hydrangeas offer a range of reddish hues that can make a beautiful ombré effect at a wedding or party.
