23 Pink Bat Mitzvah Party Ideas [Photos]

These pink Bat Mitzvah celebrations remind us why we love parties centered around a specific color scheme. As Tracie Simkin, renowned Chicago event planner of Partie Girl/Tracie Simkin, tells us, “Think Pink” has always been my motto.”

Think about it. Pink makes its grand debut in some of nature’s boldest phenomena: from flamingos and watermelon to cherry blossoms and sunsets. The vibrant hue transforms the everyday into a dreamscape of magic and wonder — so is it any wonder that it’s become a go-to for chic Bat Mitzvah palettes?

Like any top event planner, Tracie knows exactly how to reinforce a color theme at any Bat Mitzvah party. “I try to use the hue on the dance floor cover and on a backdrop with their logo.” She goes on to tell us, “Room lighting is key to creating a specific color in the space.”

But wait, there’s more: Tracie also tells us how to wow with the details. “Pops of color make the biggest splash, and sometimes less is more. I love to use the main accent color for napkins, confetti, and custom sweets with the Mitzvah child’s name drizzled on top.”

After all of the hard work that goes into becoming a Bat Mitzvah, a celebration is truly in order. These 23 pink Bat Mitzvah party ideas promise to set the scene for an unforgettable party. 12 Small Wedding Ideas [That Make a Big Impact]

Small, intimate weddings are more popular than ever. For many couples, an intimate wedding means more quality time spent with friends and family — and most importantly, each other. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean a quick trip to the courtroom and few streamers in the backyard. These days, small wedding ideas are big on style.

So how do you make a small wedding feel special? Good question.

Planning a small, intimate wedding — much like any large-scale celebration — starts with a few good ideas and a talented team of event professionals. With a smaller guest list, a top-notch wedding caterer can go above and beyond to create super-customized menus and creative wine pairings. Floral and décor teams can transform a hotel rooftop, a garden patio, or even a backyard (see our feature on Small Backyard Weddings) into a romantic, wow-worthy setting. Finally, an expert wedding planner can turn any idea into a dream celebration.

Meaningful and fun ideas for a small wedding include everything from focusing on personalized details to creating unique and interactive experiences. Whether you opt to exchange vows on a yacht (with a moving backdrop of your choosing) or go for a hot air balloon ride above the clouds, there are plenty of ways you can make your intimate wedding an unforgettable affair.

Read on to discover 12 small wedding ideas that make a big impact. From beautiful tablescapes and sumptuous dinners to unique venues and show-stopping entertainment, we know all the ways to make your wedding dreams come true.

1. Opt for an Unusual Venue

Think outside the box (or the venue) and look for a unique space that captures the spirit of your celebration. When it comes to selecting the right venue, a small guest list allows for more flexibility. Head to a secluded spot in nature, or have your intimate wedding on-the-go with a luxurious yacht. PartySlate can help you narrow down your search with our “Find a Venue” directory. Search through restaurants, ballrooms, museums, and more. When it comes to finding the perfect venue, the sky’s the limit.

A more intimate guest list also offers a greater opportunity to make each guest feel special. Add floral décor to each place setting; or dazzle guests with individual wedding cakes. A little extra love goes a long way in making your family and friends feel cherished.

7. Focus on the Details With These Small Wedding Ideas

Many overlooked details — such as dinner menus and ceremony seating — can set the tone of your wedding and dramatically contribute to the overall aesthetic. 8. Make it a Meal to Remember

You see, nothing brings people together like an intimate dining experience. Gather your guests around the table for a delicious meal (followed by dessert, of course). Many couples choose to forgo some of the more traditional large-scale wedding experiences, such as dancing or a pre-dinner cocktail hour. This leaves more time for a relaxed sit-down dinner and plenty of intimate conversation. PartySlate can connect you with top wedding caterers in your city. You can also find inspiration for your wedding menu by browsing through thousands of photos of food and drink ideas.

11. Make Time For Meaningful Moments With These Small Wedding Ideas

There’s no doubt about it: Large-scale weddings often require a rigid schedule of meticulously-planned moments. In between the traditional activities — first dance, champagne toasts, reception dinner — the couple often goes from table to table to greet and thank their guests. Small weddings allow for more flexibility and a relaxed schedule. Therefore, intimate weddings are the perfect opportunity to create meaningful moments — whether they are traditional or more out-of-the-box wedding experiences.

12. Spend Extra Time With Your Photographer

Don’t forget: Hire a talented wedding photographer to capture the heartfelt moments of your intimate wedding ceremony and reception. A more flexible time schedule means that you can spend extra time with your photographer. Head out and visit some of your favorite spots in the city; or stop for a quick picnic in the park. Just make sure to invite your photographer along so you can cherish your photos for years to come.

A Magnifique Paris-Themed Party in 11 Easy Steps, Plus 24 Real French-Inspired Parties We Love

When it comes to beautiful Paris-themed parties, we decided to go to the source and speak to luxury event planner Alejandra Poupel, founder of Alejandra Poupel Events based in Paris. Though she creates beautiful celebrations worldwide, Poupel is especially well-versed in what makes French parties so chic; here she offers advice on conjuring just the right amount of joie de vivre for your own perfectly Paris-themed gathering. “A French celebration always has a certain sophistication as well as elements of fashion,” affirms Poupel.

Then, read on to see real Paris-themed parties we love — from milestone birthdays to weddings and Bat Mitzvah celebrations to bridal showers —  even though they lie far from the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

11 Steps for Planning the Perfect Paris-Themed Party

“Art, culture, fashion, and the French term ‘savoir faire’ are always closely linked in Parisian celebrations. The vibe always includes excellent service and gastronomy,” says Poupel.

1. Pay Attention to the Menu

“The food menu should include foie gras or coq au vin, beef bourguignon, escargot, a buffet of cheeses and baguette breads,” she says, encouraging hosts to serve traditional (and delectable) French cuisine.

2. Sip Like the French

Poupel affirms that you should serve “good wine and great French Champagne for sure.” Don’t ignore detail, like the type of glass. “Champagne is always served here with open champagne glasses — the round circular ones [coupe glasses], not the typical flute,” she says.

3. Don’t Forget Dessert

Poupel suggests a luscious dessert buffet with “macaroon pyramids, chocolate eclairs — and millefeuille is a must.”

4. Include French Icons in Your Décor

“The element that instantly shows it is a Parisian party is, of course, the Eiffel Tower in many forms. It can be a photo-backdrop of flowers, an ice sculpture, or the shape of the dessert in chocolate,” Poupel tells us.

5. Choose an Evocative Color Scheme

“If you’re going for the Moulin Rouge vibe you can have decor in black and red with the famous mill decoration that you see on top of the Moulin Rouge,” Poupel suggests.

6. Incorporate French Words & Quotes

“Neon signs with Bonjour or Cest la fete [it’s a party] are fun,” says Poupel. She also shares an Audrey Hepburn quote that her team frequently uses on napkins: “Paris is always a good idea.” We agree.

7. Represent French Art

Art is at the heart of what makes Paris so special. Poupel suggests infusing art into your celebration by naming tables or signature cocktails after French monuments. She offers the following examples: “Arc de Triomphe, Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Montmartre, Moulin Rouge, Champs-Élysées, Opéra Garnier, and so on.” Or, she says you can evoke French art with artist names like, “Monet, Renoir, Watteau, Fragonard, Caillebotte, Degas, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne, and Rodin.”

8. Amp Up Staff Style

As Poupel affirmed earlier, excellent service is key. Take it to the next level with stylish uniforms for servers. She says, “Waiters should be dressed either in black tie with gloves (as we always serve in events here) or in Marie Antoinette-era outfits.”

9. Marry Form & Function With Great Service

“Service! Service is always a la franchise” at French celebrations says Poupel. “The waiter goes around with a silver platter of the main course and the vegetable sides in the same platter and the guests serve themselves. It’s very different from bringing the plates already decorated and ready to each guest. The advantage is that the guests serve themselves to their taste and quantity tastes.”

10. Offer Le Grand Amusement

Poupel says that when it comes to entertainment, “We often have the bands play music by Edith Piaf (La Vie en rose, Non, Je ne regrette rien), Serge Gainsbourg (La Javanaise, Je T’aime,…Moi Non Plus), Charle Aznavour (Emmenez-moi, La bohème), and Jacques Brel (La Valse à mille temps, Ne me quitte pas).”

She also suggests can-can dancers and notes that “Lido dancers are a regular at our events.” Parisian-themed events can be upbeat and fun with Poupel’s additional entertainment ideas of mimes and caricature artists creating face silhouettes. She adds, “If you go with a Moulin Rouge-style event, consider that type of cabaret entertainment.” You can even have a fashion show as a focal point since, as Poupel asserts, “Paris is fashion.”

11. Send Guests Home Happy

Conjure contentedness with Poupel’s suggestions of French perfumes or macaroons in trés-chic take-home bags.

5 Couples With Postponed Weddings Get Virtual Surprise from Their Wedding Band

For couples forced to postpone their wedding due to COVID-19, it is a time of uncertainty and disappointment. Having worked closely so many couples, Ken Arlen of Arlen Music Productions knew his clients were watching their meticulous plans disintegrate with heavy hearts. He faced many tough conversations with couples and their families as dates were postponed and then postponed again — with weddings now being pushed back to as far this time next year.

“When we meet with people, we really bond and get to know each other,” Ken shares, as couples meet with their band for detailed planning sessions many months before the actual wedding date. “It’s an intimate thing to plan the soundtrack for special moments,” he tells us. “To have that connection, and then something so crazy happens — you can’t help but want to honor it in some way. Music is a powerful thing.”

Wanting to alleviate some of the heartbreak facing couples, Arlen Music Productions and musicians from their various bands began performing online musical tributes for their clients. Each video was posted on the day that the wedding was supposed to occur — both to honor that date and let the couple know that their band was thinking of them. In one dedication, Lloyd Snyder of Evolution Orchestra creates a special version of “Fields of Gold” by Sting. In another video, Heidie Malnassy of Velocity sends her love to all of Arlen Music Productions’ clients with a moving tribute that “has first dance written all over it.”

For Arlen Music Productions, it’s about spreading the love and easing some of the heartache that comes with watching your wedding date come and go. Knowing the immense disappointment that couples are experiencing, Ken hopes to shine a light in this “uncertain darkness.” Here are five heartwarming performances from five incredible bands. Celebrations may be postponed, but love — and beautiful music — will get us through this trying time. And when weddings are back in full swing, we plan to have our dance moves ready.

Ria and Trent’s wedding may be postponed until November, but they can enjoy a sneak peak of music for their first dance. Sonya Major of the band Indigo performs “Love You for a Long Time” by Maggie Rogers.

While Jennifer and Rick await their new wedding date, they can still listen to music from what will be their first dance. David Sherman from Front of House performs “This Is It” by Scotty McCreery.

Evolution Orchestra cannot wait to celebrate with Carrie and Greg on their wedding day. In the meantime, Lloyd Snyder performs “Fields of Gold” by Sting.

Carly and Jeff saw that Arlen Music Productions had been posting online musical tributes, so they reached out to Entourage bandleader Leslie Hunt for a rendition of their first-dance song. Their original wedding date of May 9th arrived, and the couple lovingly danced to “Roll with Me” by Davie, as performed by Leslie Hunt & Jerome Matthews Jr.

In honor of all the Arlen Music Production couples who have had to postpone their wedding, Heidie Malnassy of Velocity performs “Golden Hour” by Kacey Musgraves.

7 Steps to Hosting a Virtual Dinner Party With All the Fun and None of the Cleanup

Nothing can stop a festive dinner party — not even a global pandemic. While COVID-19 has put many in-person events on hold, virtual event technology has made it possible to gather with friends, family, coworkers, and peers from afar. David Tutera of David Tutera Planning and Design has been hosting chic virtual dinner parties since shelter-in-place orders started. He says, “Any moment we can see one another, smile, laugh, and celebrate is worth a thousand words. A virtual dinner party may seem awkward, but the reality is it allows us to connect and see one another and have some fun.”

While we are all looking forward sitting across the table from our family and friends, there are some clear silver linings to going virtual. Loved ones who may otherwise miss out on an in-person dinner party — they may live across the country or the world — can now join in on the festivities. A virtual dinner party also allows you to be incredibly inclusive, as space on a Zoom call isn’t quite as limited as the number of chairs that can fit around your dining room table.

Dinner party hosts and event professionals alike are taking on the challenge of making Zoom interactions feel just as special and personal as live events. When hosting a virtual dinner party, you can make it as simple or over-the-top as you would like, but the most important thing is to make it feel personal. We have outlined 7 simple steps to hosting a fabulous virtual dinner party that will make the evening a memorable one for everyone involved. Tutera says, “A virtual dinner and seeing your friends and family is always worth logging on.”

1. Choose a virtual dinner party platform

The very first step to hosting a virtual dinner party is selecting a technology platform that will allow you to go virtual. There are an overwhelming number of virtual event platforms available, with what seems like more emerging every day, but Zoom is an easy choice.

You can easily host a 40-minute cocktail hour using the free version of Zoom, or upgrade to a business account for unlimited time with your guests. Whether you’re hosting 5 or 50 guests, the platform makes it easy to send an invitation link, track RSVPs, and host from any electronic device.

2. Set the tone with a virtual dinner party theme

Trendy ombré, tropical garden, Moroccan summer, Southern charmPartySlate features inspiring in-person dinner party themes that can easily translate to your next virtual event. From the cuisine you and your guests enjoy to the favors or entertainment you incorporate, a well-chosen theme can beautifully influence any type of event, especially a dinner party.

Explore dinner parties featured on PartySlate to find a theme and other unique ideas for your virtual dinner party celebration.

3. Select a stunning Zoom background image

PartySlate created 31 beautiful Zoom backgrounds for any type of virtual event — including virtual dinner parties — using images from our platform. Get lost in the New York City skyline at 620 Loft and Garden, or transport your virtual dinner party guests to the beaches of South Florida at the 1 Hotel South Beach. Zoom background images can help set the tone — and the scene — of your virtual dinner party.

Select one Zoom background for all of your guests to use for a cohesive look, or encourage each guest to choose their own Zoom background to use during the party. If you’re not sure which Zoom background to use, allow your virtual dinner party theme to guide your selection.

4. Send invitations for your virtual dinner party

Yes, Zoom populates a simple-to-use RSVP link when you create your virtual dinner party invitation. But, we recommend taking your virtual dinner party invitations one step further by popping that link into a custom design. Find an invitation company that will create a custom digital invitation design that fits your theme.

You can also mail custom paper invitations — even paper menus, too — and request RSVPs separate from a Zoom link. This adds an extra-special element to your virtual dinner party. Just be sure to ask guests for their emails when they RSVP; that way, you can simply email the Zoom link to guests ahead of your virtual dinner party.

5. Arrange for catering and cocktail deliveries

While some virtual dinner parties encourage guests to all cook the same recipe from their own homes, we love the idea of delivered meals from local catering companies. That way, everyone at your virtual dinner party can sit back, relax, and enjoy the same delicious food from a menu designed by you. Work with a caterer to hand-select menu items that are not only delicious, but will also travel well to ensure they arrive prepped and easy to serve.

And don’t forget the cocktails. Since the pandemic began, catering companies and craft cocktail brands have released festive cocktail kits that are perfect for a virtual dinner party. A craft cocktail kit can even double as an activity: send the cocktail kits in advance, then ask all guests to assemble their cocktails together on Zoom.

Not sure where to start? We compiled lists of Los Angeles caterers and New York caterers offering at-home meals that are ideal for delivery, or you can explore our full directory of caterers to find an option perfect for your virtual dinner party.

6. Incorporate creative entertainment or activities

While we love the idea of cocktail kits and guests arranging their drinks together on Zoom, we also recognize that this isn’t the ideal activity for every dinner party. Virtual event games continue to increase in popularity, but in addition, we love the idea of a custom virtual dinner party playlist. You can even hire a DJ or band to provide virtual entertainment for your guests after your meal.

The best part? Because your dinner party is virtual, you can hire a DJ or band from anywhere across the country and the world. Start your search by browsing our list of 12 top DJs and bands, who each contributed to 19 incredible party playlists that are perfect for a virtual dinner party.

7. Don’t forget to send favors in advance

Gifting is a personal and thoughtful way to bring your virtual dinner party guests together. Sending virtual party favors to your guests in advance will allow you to emphasize the theme, while also giving each guest a memorable keepsake.

Island Park, NY

It wasn’t hard to lure guests to their seats at this 70th-birthday party. Guests took the bait with fishing-lure place cards hung on a nautical wooden backdrop. We also love how wooden signage featured colorful-striped buoys crowned by the birthday man’s name.

2. Bring the Outdoors Inside

New York, NY

For a moment, we almost forgot we were high above New York City in an iconic skyscraper; with this venue transformed into a New Orleans Garden District mansion, guests enjoyed one unique photo op after another at actor LaTanya Richardson Jackson’s 70th-birthday party. Pictures were snapped in front of a giant balloon installation and an ice-cream bicycle cart.

This hip venue took on a masculine aesthetic with a mix of copper and leather décor. We love how this elegant bar set-up steals the spotlight with a backdrop of gold lighting. Suspended wicker lanterns and moss-adorned centerpieces were handsome additions to this sophisticated soirée.

4. Breath in Fresh Air with Al Fresco Dining

Guests enjoyed a sunny day in the Hamptons at this tented 70-birthday celebration. In addition to chic banquet seating, a summery lounge area offered friends and family the chance to recline in style. Best of all, geode place cards painted with each guest’s name made for beautiful keepsakes.

A floral-patterned dance floor, cloud-like floral suspensions, and a personalized boxwood backdrop made this 70th-birthday party a glamorous affair. Even the smallest details — like this crystal napkin ring, silver rimmed dishware, and circular menu — were selected with the utmost care.

This disco-themed 70th-birthday bash took its cues straight from Studio 54. Silver disco balls made their debut at every corner of this spacious ballroom — from the dance floor to the cake frosting. A backdrop of iridescent disco balls offered a sensational photo op, while shimmering ceiling tassels brought additional sparkle.

Sunny Isles Beach, FL

Singing “Happy Birthday” goes hand-in-hand with blowing out candles (or in this case, fireworks) on a delicious birthday cake. We love how the gold and reddish icing mirrors the elevated centerpieces, red carpet entrance, and vibrant uplighting of this dynamic 70-birthday celebration.

9. Go Groovy with a 70s Theme

photographer: Beautiful Day Photography

Los Angeles, CA

Guests hopped from one decade to another at this 70th-birthday party. Of course, that meant the 60s received their moment in the sun (or lava lamp, we should say). We love this lounge area complete with a tie-dye backdrop and colorful area rug. We also adore how all-white furnishings pop against an array of bright colors.

There is an art to simplicity, as these beautiful centerpieces prove. Pink, coral, and pale yellow blooms complement the glittery number “70” crowning the floral arrangement. We also love how the rose-frosted birthday cake is topped with sparkling signage.

11. Leave a Note

photographer: Tony Valadez Photography

Dallas, TX

Why sign a guest book when you can sign a giant bottle of Champagne instead? Other Vegas motifs from this 70th-birthday party included an Elvis personator, a glitter-confetti drop, and playing-card plate chargers. Even without the Champagne keepsake, the birthday girl will always remember her fun-filled milestone-birthday party.

A funky, asymmetrical carpet added depth and texture to this garden-inspired tablescape. Other picture-perfect pastoral details included floral crowns worn by the party hosts and rose-decorated cupcakes. We also adore the dessert cart wound with lavish foliage.

The giant gold balloons have us floating away on cloud nine.

This 70th-birthday party captures our imaginations with its shimmering décor. Lucite seating, silver monstera leaves, and glass vases kept the room in a constant state of glimmer. We are also swooning over the crown of pearlescent ceiling balloons that are both dreamy and ethereal.
