13 Save-Worthy Spring, Summer, Winter, & Fall Wedding Invitations [Photos]

An invitation is the first inkling an eager guest receives about what to expect at your upcoming celebration. When it comes to an event as momentous as your wedding, we firmly believe that custom wedding invitations are the way to go.

Ideally, your wedding should be a combination of you and your beloved’s personalities and aspirations. In short, it should be a day that really feels like the two of you. Your custom wedding invitations should do the same.

There are many places from which to draw wedding invitation inspiration, from your wedding style or color-scape to your wedding’s locale. But one of our favorite sources is your wedding season. Expressing the season in your wedding invitation is a perfect way to ensure that your suite matches the tone of your upcoming nuptials.

When it comes to wedding seasons, each has its perks; from the vibrant hues of fall and spring to the hot summer and icy winter palettes. Read on to discover our favorite seasonally-inspired invitations — and to connect with the top invitation and print companies who can create your dream custom wedding invitations.

Fall Wedding Invitations

Though there’s always talk of “June weddings,” it may surprise you to know that autumn dates are even more in demand than summer dates. In fact, September edges out June for the most favored wedding month, then October closely follows the summer month in popularity.

And we understand why. After all, fall presents us with vibrant colors, crisp temperatures, and seasonal food options galore. It only makes sense, if you’re hosting autumn nuptials, that you opt for seasonal wedding invitations as well.

Fall wedding invitations often incorporate autumnal hues in either the envelope liners or in the invitation design. A beautiful fall wedding invitation sets the seasonal scene for a beautiful affair. See some of our favorites below.

Winter Wedding Invitations

There are many ways to make a winter wedding feel seasonally special: flickering candlelight, dark and moody hues, velvet textures, and sparkling elements. A winter wedding can feel especially warm and festive — coming in from the cold to a room full of warm family and friends is just the start.

Beautiful winter wedding invitations can be as unique as you are. Go bold with jewel tones or evoke frost and ice with cool tones. Use plaid or dark florals to add depth, or red and green for holiday-centric nuptials. See some of our favorite winter wedding invitation styles below.

Spring Wedding Invitations

Ah, spring, a celebration of all things new — delicate buds blooming, tree leaves unfurling fresh, and snow melting into gushing streams. What a beautiful time of year for a wedding.

A spring wedding is perhaps the wedding season most subject to the whim of mother nature. An outdoor wedding is one that needs to be planned twice — with A and B contingencies. But, when nature cooperates, it is truly the most beautiful time of year to say “I do.”

Spring wedding palettes are usually vibrant, with floral-forward affairs celebrating the gifts of the season. Your spring wedding invitation should do the same. Embrace the season with invitations that are a riot of color with florals or greenery. See some of our favorite spring wedding invitations below for beautiful inspiration.

Summer Wedding Invitations

Summer weddings are iconic for a reason — actually, several reasons. The longer days offer more hours for celebrating in the gloam of the setting sun. Warmer weather allows for outdoor weddings on a beach, in a garden, or on a city rooftop.

Décor options are endless with so many blooming florals to choose from. Summer’s bounty also offers bright fresh fare for your reception. And the season offers a much wider array of perfect spots for destination weddings.

When it comes to designing your summer wedding invitations, you can go as bold as the colors found at your local farmer’s market or as pretty and pastel as a summer sunset. See some of our favorite summer wedding invitations below to inspire your own planning.

When should I start thinking about my wedding invitations?

Your skilled event planner can help you create a cohesive timeline for every step of your wedding plan. In general terms, if you plan to send “save the date” cards, they should go out six months in advance of your wedding date. If you are opting for a destination wedding, you’ll want to give guests even more time to plan and to get their plane tickets, hotel rooms, and the like. Consider giving your guests eight to twelve months notice.

If you’re skipping formal “save the date” cards, you should plan to choose an invitation designer six months before your nuptials to allow time for your custom design, production, and mail.

Why should I opt for custom wedding invitations?

We spoke with one of the country’s premier invitation designers to learn more. “Custom invitations are the most reflective of the couple getting married and the vibe of their event because they are specifically made to the couple’s specifications. Since we manufacture on site, and use our own graphic artists for design, each suite is unique to the couple,” says Mona Seltzer, Creative Director of Social Sales with Alpine Creative Group.

18 TV Shows to Binge From Home — and Party Themes to Match

We love a bingeable pop culture moment — and TV shows have never been hotter. Thanks to a rise in streaming services and more time spent on the couch, it’s easier than ever to get lost in a great series. But the A-list faces we’re used to seeing on the big screen aren’t the only aspects of our new favorite shows that look familiar.

The latest hit series of 2020 and 2021 hold a close resemblance to some of our favorite event themes, designs, and photos from parties past. From an all too familiar sweetheart setup at La Quinta Resort & Spa (hello, The Bachelorette), to a chess-inspired Miami Bar Mitzvah party that would make Beth Harmon of The Queen’s Gambit proud, were sharing party themes that were ahead of their time — and are here to stay. There’s a show (and a theme) for every taste below.

1. Bridgerton — Netflix

Netflix, we officially forgive you for dumping our Friends after this one. Shondaland did it again with the Bridgerton series, which broke the streaming giant’s viewing records — and had us glued to our screens for two days straight. The storyline takes us back to 19th-century Britain; but in this 1813 society, sovereignty doesn’t discriminate between races. Women, however, are far from equal in a world where suffocating corsets and empire waist gowns rule the ballroom.

Ruffles, bows, feathers, and bright billowing fabric filled small screens across the country — and topped tables at this historic baby shower. Luscious lavenders, bubblegum pink, and eye-catching teals filled the royally charged room — alongside sparkling chandeliers, luxe curtain framed windows, and feather-topped florals. The dressed-up celebration (inspired by Marie Antonette) has had our team head over fabric-covered heels ever since it was added to PartySlate in 2018 — and now we’re re-assured why.

2. Bling Empire — Netflix

We’ll never forget the day in the office when a party with a Gucci claw machine was added to PartySlate. Yes, you read that right — and after Bling Empire was released on Netflix (over a year later), it all made sense. The reality TV show follows 10 wealthy Asian and Asian-American socialites around Los Angeles, taking us inside their extravagant parties and milestone celebrations.

Christine Chiu, a Taiwaneese businesswoman-turned-influencer is known for her role in the show as a popular “frenemy,” magnificent party host, and mother to the infamous Baby G. Click into this event and you’ll find all the photos from Baby G’s over-the-top first birthday party, including floral-filled carousels, bite-sized faces (you’ll understand soon), and a customizable surf shop. But don’t worry, Baby G and his parents gave back, donating an entire wing to the museum venue, along with free admission for less fortunate children.

3. The Mandalorian — Disney Plus

The Mandalorian encompases the adventure of a warrior on a mission to return “The Child” (a Baby Yoda look alike) back to his kind. As they jump from planet to planet on the outskirts of the galaxy, we witness night skies, bright stars, and bold characters. From glowing Star Wars-inspired weddings to lightsaber ceilings at Jedi-themed Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, it’s safe to say our team has seen all things galactic glamour. But when watching the latest piece of the ever growing Star Wars franchise puzzle, our minds were taken to one party in particular.

Enter the 50th-birthday celebration set under a starry night sky. With sputnik light installations hovering above an elongated, black linen covered table, it’s no wonder this Los Angeles-based party resulted in one of our most-liked Instagrams of 2020. The small gathering featured an array of Star Wars-inspired décor (ranging from subtle to prominent), including an army of figurine place cards and beams of metallic gold and black balloons.

4. The Bachelor — ABC

Ever since he TikToked into our lives in March of 2020, Matt James has had our full and undivided attention. He’s come a long way since then, making well overdue history as the first ever Black Bachelor, with one of the most representative casts in the franchise’s history. Stealing hearts on and off screen, he’s proven to be one of the most genuine and adored leads the show has ever seen.

Matt James has made it clear that he’s not just looking for love, he’s looking for a wife. And as the season plays out, we hope that the man who wears his heart on his sleeve gets a fairytale ending like this one (with a floral heart installation to match). In true Bachelor style, this romantic proposal was filled with hundreds of red roses and a dramatic carpet entrance. However, the bouquet on display was far from the final rose thanks to red flower-topped cupcakes and more elements from the celebration that followed.

5. I May Destroy You — HBO

I May Destroy You reminds us of the power of television. The British storyline merges dark comedy and intense drama to cover an incredibly sensitive topic — while also spreading awareness, evoking emotion, and sending important messages to global audiences along the way.

This “shop and sip’s” bright florals and cheery photo ops may not perfectly resemble the intense life events of Arabella, but the London-based charity event brought friends together to raise awareness (and funds) for the healthcare of someone in need. Inspired events (like inspired television), inspire people — and while attending parties and binging new shows may be fun, entertainment is at its most meaningful with stories like these.

6. Emily in Paris — Netflix

Yes, we have endless Parisian-themed parties on PartySlate, but Emily in Paris is more than just French-inspired. The new Netflix series — that we’d describe as a mash up between Sex and the City and Lizzie McGuire — tells the story of a social media marketer who’s relocated to her firm’s Paris-based office. She’s been sent to offer an (unrequested) “American” point of view and documents her journey on social media throughout (title drop: her handle is @emilyinparis).

There are plenty of reasons this Bat Mitzvah party is giving us all the Emily Cooper vibes — aside from the fact that her vibrant fashion choices resemble this party’s bright pink and purple palette. With Instagrammable components at every turn (we’re talking pink sushi rolls and a make-your-own jean jacket station), this Gen Z celebration reminds us of the trendy product launches, new brand marketing methods, and modern social media use seen in the show. Thinking outside-the-box seems to be Emily’s best asset, and this party is anything but ordinary.

7. Selling Sunset — Netflix

Selling Sunset is exactly what it sounds like. The reality show features some of Los Angeles’ hottest real estate agents and the gorgeous mansions they have on the market (plus, some coworking drama — it’s reality TV after all). The series is filled with astounding homes, sweeping views of the rolling Hollywood hills, and some very luxe weddings and events (check out Christine Quinn’s goth wedding cake for a taste).

Located in the penthouse suite of the Sunset Tower Hotel (which happens to be located in the heart of the Sunset strip), just about everything from this glam 50th-birthday party says “The Oppenheim Group.” Skyline views of downtown Los Angeles, a “Champagne and diamonds” theme, and an installed gold mirrored floor are just a few reasons we’re sold on this event album.

8. Schitt’s Creek — Pop TV

We can practically hear the opening piano notes as we look at this photo of our favorite TV family. If you haven’t watched Schitt’s Creek, you simply must for unrivaled character development, hilarious, personality-packed punches, and a storyline that you’ve never heard (or seen) before. Although the Rose family’s reimagined living situation isn’t ideal — cue Alexis’ “Eww, David” — Schitt’s Creek has reminded us of motels’ vintage charm (and spoiler alert: they come around to their new home).

This Austin-based travel spot was the perfect venue for a 90s-inspired 30th-birthday party. Chunky pool floats, neon cake toppers, and retro décor made a splash in the rented out space (as did the fun-loving guest list). In the Southern summer heat, we can’t think of a better way to cool off (and celebrate) than this playful pool party.

9. The Queen’s Gambit — Netflix

Long live the Queen, aka, Beth Harmon. Set in the 1950s, an orphan-turned-chess prodigy sets new standards for women in yet another Netflix hit. Forget the knight and shining armour (unless you’re referring to the board pieces), this is a love story between player and game.

A chess-inspired party design is hard to come by — especially because Chess only recently became “cool.” (Chess boards everywhere sold out after The Queen’s Gambit was released). Blown-up Knights stood behind bars, oversized Rooks hovered over couches, and playable, life-sized boards were at guests’ disposal at this one-of-a-kind party — although we have a feeling more chess-themed celebrations will pop up in the future.

10. The Crown — Netflix

Consider us royally-obsessed with The Crown (in real life and on screen). The realistic portrayals of Britain’s House of Windsor unveils the evolution of Queen Elizabeth II and her family as they navigate their royal duties  — and life — as some of the most famous faces in the United Kingdom and beyond. Although The Crown is not entirely accurate (how could they depict exactly how things went down behind closed doors?), the show does give us a glimpse of history — down to the outfits that were worn at major milestone events.

This London-based party does the same, taking a young Queen Victoria’s private sketchbook, which was filled with dreams of magical worlds and fantastic characters, and brings it to life through the lens of an artistic eye. The event took place at none other than Kensington Palace, and the photos will blow you away from ceilings dripping in colorful florals to animated entertainment that will take you back in time.

11. The Big Day — Netflix

It’s not news that Indian weddings are magnificent, color-filled, lively, dazzling — and the list goes on. Our team was ecstatic to learn of Netflix’s new release: The Big Day, which documents six Indian couples on a journey to — you guessed it — their wedding day. The 13 part series sheds light on the beauty of Indian wedding traditions around the world.

Of all the over-the-top, diverse Indian weddings on PartySlate, it’s too hard to pick just one to represent the distinct couples on the show. We’ve seen cultures collide in color, same-sex couples parade to Bollywood in the streets, romantic waterfront weddings, Star Wars-themed celebrations, and Mandap designs in every color of the rainbow. Craving more? Browse real Southeast Asian weddings here.

12. Tiger King — Netflix

How can you describe the absurdity that is Tiger King in just a few sentences? We won’t even try — just search “Carol Baskin” and Google will do the rest. While Tiger King was the biggest craze to hit quarantine in March of 2020, this jungle-themed Bar Mitzvah party was one of our favorites to hit PartySlate in 2019.

The roaring dance floor is far from the only mesmerizing detail, as the rest of the party depicts jungle scenes that include lush greenery, ivy covered signage, and more. The party’s untamed décor set the tone for a wild night, and tells us that while tigers may belong to the jungle, guests belonged on that mesmerizing dance floor.

13. The Bachelorette — ABC

The “most dramatic season” of The Bachelorette began with Claire Crowley (who became the first lead in show history to take off before the journey was over) and ended with Tayshia — who not only saved the season, but became a Bachelor Nation fan favorite.

Like the first travel-less season of The Bachelorette, the entirety of this wedding took place at La Quinta Resort & Club in Southern California — and the bride and groom’s camera-facing sweetheart table looks all too familiar. With eye-catching floral arrangements, ethereal drapery, and a romantic spotlight setup, this wedding framework reminds us of Tayshia’s one-on-one dinner dates at the resort (minus the untouched dinners, of course).

14. The Home Edit — Netflix

If you love a functional space, clean cabinet, organized closet, and A-list celebrities, then The Home Edit on Netflix is a must-watch. From Reese Witherspoon’s memorabilia closet makeover to Khloe Kardashian’s garage transformation, every episode is both relaxing and satisfying.

This product launch’s shelving says “maximize your storage space” — and it’s safe to say The Home Edit’s Clea and Joanna would approve. Notorious for their color-coded techniques, we thought of the duo as soon as we saw the skincare displays divided by hue and sorted by product. We’re sharing 12 more satisfyingly sleek events here.

15. Summerhouse — Bravo

Oh how we love a drama-filled reality show (from the comfort of our couch, that is) — and Bravo’s Summer House combines our favorite season with our favorite form of entertainment. Think MTV’s Jersey Shore — but with a preppy Bravo twist and a house in the Hamptons.

Speaking of the East Coast, we can’t think of better celebration inspiration for Summer House than this Hamptons-themed party. Seafood snacks, Moscow Mules, a beachy palette, clever signage, peppy patterns, and mini adirondack chairs are just some of the many reasons you need to click into this event album (and recreate it come summer).

16. The Good Place — NBC

The Good Place is one of those “who thought of this and how did they make it so good?” types of series. The plot: Eleanor has reached her afterlife and ends up in “The Good Place” — but only by mistake. She does her best to ride out the error and avoid being sent to the alternative of “The Good Place” (you can infer that one).

This good and evil-themed wedding covers the concept of The Good Place perfectly; plus, it made our list of the most creative party themes to duplicate this year. It’s not often you find an over-the-top wedding reception with such a unique design. Click through to see the magical photos which include an absolutely incredible bar backdrop, astounding light projections, living walls with budding roses, and more.

17. The Last Dance — ESPN

No matter where you land on the “who’s the best to ever play the game” debate, there’s no denying that Michael Jordan is in the conversation. When ESPN released The Last Dance, fans of all ages got a brand new look at, and appreciation for, Jordan’s story with never-before-seen footage. The docuseries takes a close look at MJ’s career, and how he changed basketball (and sneaker culture) forever.

Michael Jordan’s passion, unrivaled drive, and competitive nature continues to inspire kids around the world with dreams of making it to the NBA — or simply a love for the game. We’ve seen countless basketball-themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties on PartySlate (and even Air Jordan-themed parties). It’s clear kids still want to be “like Mike,” and we’re loving all the creative décor, unique elements, and sports-fueled themes that they’re bringing to the table (like this hoop-inspired centerpiece).

18. The Flight Attendant — HBO

You can always count on HBO for dark and twisted plot lines — and The Flight Attendant is just that (with some humor on the side). The show’s premise: Your life can change in one night — which is what happened to flight attendant Cassandra, who wakes up in a hotel room in Bangkok with no memory of the night prior (we’ll let you uncover the rest).

Although this milestone birthday isn’t based on a dark tale, it did transport guests from the Windy City to a tropical climate. Friends and family of the guest of honor were able to celebrate and enjoy life on their travel-filled night out (after all, it can all change in a night). The party began in an airport setting with flight projections, a TSA check-in, and a first class lounge. As the night progressed, attendees found themselves in the warmth of Hawaii with surfboard ceilings, volleyball courts, tropical palms, and so much more.

Kids’ Birthday Party Food Ideas for 2021

1. Individually-Packaged Meal Boxes

What’s better than party food? Party food neatly packaged in perfectly on-theme boxes — boxes perfect for each guest to enjoy. No more elbowing each other in a buffet line or eating chips that other guests’ hands have rifled through — individually-packaged meal boxes are ushering in a new era of personalization and safety. This is one of the kids’ birthday party food that ideas that we can really get behind.

Minecraft-Theme Boxes Start Birthday Mode

Agoura Hills, CA

We love how pop-up parties are a surprise to the celebrant and guests alike. This pop-up birthday celebrated the the best-selling video game of all time, Minecraft — and one lucky birthday boy — with a green-hued balloon arch and an awesome, on-theme cake. Guest enjoyed individually-packed lunch boxes before getting their game on in a mobile game truck.

2. Elaborate Take-Home Cookies

Sure, a themed cake has become de rigueur for kids’ birthday parties, but we’re especially excited to see how dessert tables are including more sweets than ever. Not only are dessert tables boasting memorable backdrops, but they are also featuring elaborately-themed cookies. These iced confections are often individually-wrapped and perfect for pandemic-era parties (and as take-home treats).

Explore (Yummy) Coral Reefs Without a Tank

Dallas, TX

Usually “Under the Sea” themed parties are awash in blues and ocean creatures, but this little girl’s celebration took a more feminine approach with an ombré of pink and coral (of course!) hues. Guest enjoyed a picture-perfect photo spot, and we especially love the reef-themed cookies. They’re almost too pretty to eat. What’s not to like about coral-hued, coral-themed treats?

Baseball-Themed Cookies Are a Swing & a Hit

Houston, TX

This first-birthday party hit it out of the park with its baseball theme. The little “Rookie of the Year” received a game ball signed by all his friends and wore a uniform inspired by his family “team” name. Pint-sized guests caught baseball mitt cookies that held frosted baseballs sporting signature red-stitching.

3. Themed Cake Pops

We know, cake pops aren’t new (in fact, the sweet fad has been going strong since blogger Bakerella invented them in 2008). But we’re inspired by the new ways that these confections are cleverly expressing themes at kids’ birthday parties. It turns out that those little magic orbs of cake crumbles and frosting are a single-serve creative-themed party favor and treat all-in-one.

4. Picture-Perfect Photo Spots

People have been “doin’ it for the ‘gram” for years. As such, curated photo spots have become standard issue at events from weddings and milestone-birthday parties to anniversaries and corporate gatherings. We love seeing the creative ways that event designers express themes and personality in carefully-curated photo spots — and now their design energy is benefitting the tiniest of clients.

Girls in Cars Spilling Florals

Back in 2018, BizBash trend-spotted “floral installations in cars.” Now we’re excited to share a new trend: those chic displays writ small. In fact, we’ve never loved florals in cars more than in this picture-perfect scene at a Beyoncé-inspired photo spot. 5. Party Themes That Adults Will Envy

We’ve seen 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, and 70th birthday parties with creative themes. We’ve been wowed by golden Gatsby-esque glam, put in a musical mood by Mardi Gras-themed celebrations, and inspired to reassess our closets by fashion-themed events. But now it’s kids’ birthday parties that are surprising us with themes that we never dreamed of (and that we plan to steal).

A Party Fit for Royalty

Dallas, TX

This birthday party was inspired by Beyoncé’s musical film and visual album “Black is King“. Two scenes delighted guests: a tea party and a cheetah-filled, gold-hued extravaganza. Add four cakes, interactive installations, and toddler-friendly activities — and you have one very lucky birthday girl. Pandemic-safe additions included personal hand sanitizers and individually-boxed pizzas.

The family also enjoyed a styled shoot that would’ve made the Queen B herself envious. We adore the strong, positive messaging in this inspiring and beautiful theme.

Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun)

New York, NY

This “Time Flies” themed party celebrated a child’s birthday (when it’s adults who can fully appreciate how quickly time goes). This party makes us long for more hours to explore every perfect detail.

The “In-Flight Meals” were a major upgrade over airplane fare, as were the seats — chic ghost chairs personalized with each “passenger’s” name. Don’t miss other perfectly themed moments like the passport photo spot and “baggage claim” with take-home treats.

Even Kids Want to Glamp

New York, NY

Forbes declared “glamping” (a combo of glamorous and camping) “2020’s Hottest Travel Trend,” so why shouldn’t it be the hottest party theme too?

We love how every chic detail appeals to a kid’s sense of adventure and an adult’s sense of style. Furry pillows, tents filled with balloons, a greenery wall, and (of course) tabletop s’mores make for an elevated experience in an elegant all-white space.

Kids’ Birthday Party Décor for 2021

6. Rainbows Go Pastel

We never tire of the rainbow. It’s always there with its predictable, ordered colors, reassuring us that there’s something good at its end. Rainbows have been filling the skies of kids’ drawings ever since the invention of crayons.

But Crayola’s starter set hasn’t quite prepared us for the ROYGBIV of 2021. The new rainbow adorning kids’ parties boasts a more muted palette of chic pastels. New year, new hues.

photographer: Jasmine Marie Photo

Beauty at (Pastel) Rainbow’s End

Pasadena, CA

Rainbows are generally vibrant affairs. As we head into 2021, we’re seeing ROYGBIV in a more muted palette — an explosion of orderly pastels that’s making us smile.

This first-birthday party expresses the theme with a perfectly-pastel menu, balloon installation, cake, welcome sign, and more. Even the menu followed suit with “rainbow grilled cheese” and “rainbow Jell-O.”

What’s whimsical and modern, yet traditional? This little girl’s Korean Dohl (first-birthday celebration). We love how this team used the colors of the rainbow (in proper order, of course) in the hand-painted acrylic elements, which included the career representations the birthday girl chose from to indicate her potential future interests, as is traditional at Dohl gatherings.

7. Balloon Centerpieces

Balloons have drifted down to tabletops, offering a colorful option for centerpiece décor. We’re thrilled to see this balloons-as-décor trend still going strong.

We’ve seen them flood ceilings like clouds, adorn arched entrances, and create happy photo ops. Now, we’re seeing them lining the center of tables — the centerpieces of our brightly-hued dreams.

Birthday Party Games for Kids in 2021

8. Carnivals Make a Comeback

Carnivals are a perfect solution for parties during a pandemic. They offer games that can be spaced out in a backyard and fun theming for the dessert table. Plus, the red-and-white palette evokes nostalgia during a time when we all could use a little feelgood return to days past.

9. Video Games Come to Life

“Video games” and “active” are terms not often found in the same sentence. Ever since the first home gaming system debuted in 1972, couches have been dented courtesy of video games.

Now that the American Ninja Warrior craze and X Games have taken obstacle courses to the next level and the video game devotee numbers are rising, we’re seeing a new kind of party — and we are all for this amalgam of theme and activity.

9. Kids Find Fun on Scavenger Hunts

Scavenger hunts are age-old party fun, so how can they suddenly be a trend? Well, we can attribute their resurgence (the same as carnival games) to their relative safety during a pandemic — as well as nostalgia.

We know we’re talking about kids’ parties here, but solving clues and running around to gather prizes sounds like a pretty fun time for adults as well. Can someone host an adult scavenger hunt, please? (Oh wait — that’s geocaching!)

Kids’ Birthday Party Ideas for Keeping it Safe in 2021

10. Birthday Boxes for All

We already mentioned the trend of meal boxes at kids’ parties — but that’s not the beginning and end of the birthday box story. Birthday boxes filled with activities (and often snacks) are like a gift for your guests. Plus, they keep activities separate and safe.

Pandemic parties necessarily involve extraordinary efforts to keep everyone safe. Masks have become the go-to way to minimize the virus’ spread. We are delighted to see this essential element upgraded with customizations that include matching a party’s hue, theme, and/or prints.

This Fish Camp-themed birthday party was a safety — and fun — trend-setter (hint: you’ll see it again on this list). The custom watercolor theming created a cohesive celebration with the chic design carried through to the face masks and the cozy blankets given to each guest.

The décor color story picked up the blues and greens of the beautiful art with balloon installations and an amazing cake featuring a bear holding a colorful trout (click to explore every rich detail of this party).

12. Keep it “All in the Family” with Tents

Thank heavens for “glamping” — the magical combo of camping and glamour that has us willing to consider going into the woods. Kids need no such prompting; they delight in exploring the natural world. This trend offers us the best of both worlds: luxe family tents.

This solution to social distancing while still celebrating keeps families who’ve been sheltering together intact while also folding them into the larger group. We adore the creativity that pandemic circumstances have given rise to.

This Party Got In-Tents

New York, NY

See, we didn’t keep you away from the perfection of the Fish Camp-themed party for too long. We’re revisiting the celebration to ooh and aah over the clever pandemic solution to party-while-social-distancing: family tents.

Each family invited to this gathering was provided their own glamorous tent. Each mini campsite boasted bean bag chairs, plush blankets, a fully-stocked cooler, perfectly themed tackle boxes filled with appetizers — and a view of the movie screen. We would actually go camping if it looked even a little like this dreamy scene.

13. Shared Parties Celebrate Multiple Family Members at Once

Sharing is caring. Especially when it multiplies the joy by celebrating multiple occasions at once. We adore this trend that brings families together for a myriad of good reasons.

We just adore this elegant princess party. The mother-and-daughter birthday celebration boasted gorgeous florals in geometric gold vessels on the adult tables and glittering gold crowns and castles on the kids’ tables for a cohesive vibe.

A chic greenery-filled ceiling installation and askew shelves filled with succulents (that we adore) brought nature in for this lovely joint affair.

Moms & the Ones Who Made Them Moms

Temecula, CA

This Mother’s Day brunch celebrated moms — and their little ones. It was a party with the mammoth task of making mothers feel pampered while engaging their little ones. The pink palette provided a perfect backdrop to the outdoor soirée.

Sweets included rose gelatin, parfaits, pastries, and a donut charcuterie (yeah, you read that right) — sugar high all around.  In an inspired touch, each child had their own personalized mini cake at their seat where they were able to dive in and “cake smash” to their hearts content.

18 Personalized Wedding Entertainment Ideas — and the DJs & Bands to Make it Happen

With so many choices of fine wedding planners and a wide variety of venues, it’s not tough to put together a good event — but great events go further to fully express and celebrate who a couple is through personalization. That’s where top-tier wedding entertainment comes in.

“What we and other entertainers aspire to do in the luxury market is not just send the couples and guests away contented, but rather saying ‘Wow, that was really ‘Steve and Sharon’s’ party,’” says Artem Lomaz, of Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment.

Jeff Stitely of Stitely Entertainment agrees, saying, “The best compliment we ever get is when someone close to the couple says “Where did you get this band? They are SO YOU!”

Ajay Manaktala of Special Occasions LA adds, “Music is the foundation of most events and when curated with some heart can really act as the soundtrack to a couple’s wedding.”

Here, top bands and DJ’s share ways you can ensure that your wedding entertainment makes your celebration uniquely yours. See 18 wedding entertainment ideas for your big day.

1. Utilize Meaningful Songs in Wedding Entertainment

Of course, couples will choose a meaningful song for their first dance, but there are even more opportunities to infuse meaning through song choice.

For example, one of Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment’s wedding couples loved Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.” It was special to them because it came on while they were walking on the boardwalk in Maryland, and when he reached for her hand, that was the moment she knew he was the one. However they had chosen a different song for their first dance. Lomaz made sure to play “Wonderful Tonight” during their reception to their teary reaction.

Share your personal stories with your wedding band or DJ so they can ensure your wedding entertainment is uniquely yours.

2. Have Your Wedding Band Look Their Best

While a band dressed in all-black has become de rigueur for elegant wedding entertainment, we appreciate performers who coordinate their looks with the theme or vibe of the celebration (for example, imagine the band at left for a glamorous Gatsby-esque wedding).

“We coordinate our outfits to the color scheme of the day. Our female musicians wear dresses that match the ties and pocket squares of the male musicians,” says Catherine Ruth, event coordinator with Vybe Society, a band with some of the best musicians in the Bay Area.

She adds, “I can’t tell you how many times we hear how great the band looks and it is one of the reasons they decided to book us.”

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Be the Star of the Show

“One of the most common concerns that we hear from couples during the planning process, is that they don’t like being the center of attention,” says Jonathan Huvard, co-founder of Great Family Artists, a New York-based entertainment company that offers complete performance and production experiences.

However, on your wedding day, it’s unavoidable to stay out of the spotlight. Great Family Artists helps their couples appreciate and enjoy the experience.

Huvard adds, “We encourage our couples to embrace the fact that everyone in attendance is there to celebrate them. For example, the grand entrance is so incredibly special. You’re never going to forget that first time you walked into a tent or ballroom filled with your cheering family and friends as a ‘just-married’ couple.”

The key is to embrace and enjoy every moment of your big day — and your performers can help with creative wedding entertainment ideas.

“We encourage our couples to embrace the fact that everyone in attendance is there to celebrate them.

4. Personalize the Introduction for the First Dance

video clip courtesy of Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment

Speaking of the entrances, couples are typically brought into their reception with some fanfare and an introduction that transitions into their chosen first dance song.

Instead, Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment infuses humor and heartfelt moments by doing a minute-long love story, starting at the beginning of their story through the proposal then up to this moment (see full introduction). We love wedding entertainment ideas like this one that focus on the couple’s story.

5. Allow for Spontaneity in Your Wedding Entertainment

Wedding entertainment isn’t about “just playing a couple’s favorite songs,” says Robert Perkins of On the Beat Music Agency. “While the song selection is certainly about the couple and their guests, a band is able to sing to the guests — and sing about the couple and personalization can happen anytime, even unplanned.”

He shares the story of one father/daughter dance, saying “The bride’s father passed away when she was young, so she danced with her brother instead. Emotions were getting strong, then out of nowhere, her new father-in-law stepped in towards the end of the song and cut in. The band knew to extend the song to make that magical moment last longer. The crowd and the band members were sobbing.”

There’s a certain amount of spontaneous grace at these events that experienced wedding entertainers know how to embrace.

6. Remix Important Songs to Perfection

Guests dancing at a wedding reception

Often the creative wedding entertainment ideas come from the couple themselves — but it takes experience and know-how to make it work.

Stitely of Stitely Entertainment says, “A mother of the groom had two songs that were meaningful to both her and her son, but they were completely different — with varied tempos, styles and eras. So I did an arrangement to mix them together and created a transition that worked so that their mother-son dance had that emotional connection for them.”

Manaktala of Special Occasions LA recounts, “We had a lovely couple who had a song of extreme sentiment to them called ‘Indian Summer’ by Jai Wolf. They really wanted to implement this into the bridal entrance at the ceremony but felt the original version —  while eclectic and beautiful — had just a little too much of a build-up.

DJ Ajay created a special version for them that they found to be a perfect fit, keeping the traditional and eclectic elements, but also muting the energy just enough to be perfect for a ceremonial entrance reminiscent of Crazy Rich Asians.” (hear the remix)

Special Occasions LA also asks their couples to choose music for their loved ones to enter the ballroom then their team edits those tracks individually or “cuts the fat” so that the songs are energetic and embody the essence of the track in a mere 30 seconds.

David Krieger of KRIEGER, a Los Angeles-based DJ and MC, says that he routinely edits the first dance song. “Most songs are around four minutes and couples don’t want to be out there for that long. I often cut it to two minutes so that they can enjoy the beginning of the song then give that first dance a special moment before guests start to lose interest.”

7. Embellish Songs to Keep the Dance Floor Full Longer

Nothing gets people on the dance floor faster than a well-known song. Guests put down their drinks and forks and rush to get down to their favorite tune. Vybe Society has found a way to make those reliable stand-by songs event more engaging — and longer.

Catherine Ruth, event coordinator with Vybe Society, says, “We actually have our own arrangements of cover songs. For example, say you have a song without any horn parts, we have created our own horn arrangements to take that song to the next level.”

The band puts their own party-making twist on event the most well-known tunes and say they “sometimes even mash one popular song with another — which always leads to extra energy on the dance floor.”

There’s a certain amount of spontaneous grace at these events that experienced wedding entertainers know how to embrace.

8. Have a Special Presentation of Meaning

Creating a special moment for a couple can make for an additional sweet wedding memory.

Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment says, “One of my couples had their first date in high school — a movie then pizza at a local shop. I went to talk to the owner of the pizza place they had first gone to and he made the couple a heart-shaped pizza and had everyone on staff sign the box. I quietly presented it to them during their reception dinner.”

9. Line Up a Dance Floor Playlist that Pleases All

Special Occasion LA | photographer: Lin & Jirsa Photography

Special Occasion LA DJ’s will often create a Venn Diagram to clearly define a couple’s musical preferences. Manaktala says, “Each partner represents a circle and the cross-section where their musical preferences align is where we focus.”

Stitely of Stitely Entertainment, says, “We’ve done a handful of weddings for couples that are Phish fans and love jam bands…For those we have played half a dozen Phish tunes, more Grateful Dead songs and some Talking Heads. Each wedding is a little different depending on the couple’s favorite bands.”

Margaret Hill, a representative for New York’s Silver Arrow Band adds, “Live music sets the tone at any party, so it’s important to understand each client’s vision for their event and what type of music they like. We always ask for a list of songs and artists they like and base our set list off of that, along with the classic crowd-pleasers, and dance-floor fillers.”

She adds, “It’s like having your very own private concert and dance party with friends and family!” Silver Arrow Band offers high-energy music for your memorable day.

10. Take an Active Role in Music Selection to Tell a Lifetime of Stories

“One thing that I love about music is that it has this documentary quality — you associate specific songs with different events and periods in your life,” says Daniel Rosenbach of Love in the Mix.

Musical groups from different parts of our lives — childhood, high school, college, etc. — will have different shared songs. And since a wedding is two families coming together, he notes that “music can allow a family to reminisce.”

He urges couples to have an active role in selecting music as it is “one of the easiest ways to infuse your personality into your wedding.” While Love in the Mix loves to be hired for their expertise, they also really love clients who say “these are our jams, it’s part of our story.”

“The more the musicians can customize, the better the results on the dance floor, says Rosenbach, “because they know the music their friends and family will love.”

SOULSYSTEM ORCHESTRAS knows the importance of music in telling life’s stories. Rob Affuso of SOULSYSTEM says, “Our lives have a soundtrack that reminds us of very special moments — both happy and sad, of course. Whether we’re providing a DJ or live band, we do our best to try to evoke some of the happy ‘life-song emotions’ from our clients’ history together.” The boutique entertainment company is dedicated to personalization through their high-touch service.

11. Include Family in Special Moments in Your Wedding Entertainment

Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment suggests — depending on the couple’s relationship with their parents — a quick introduction for the parent dances as well.

For example, at one wedding the groom’s dad had passed away, so the groom and his two brothers recorded a special message for their mom saying, “We all want to make sure we get to share a dance with you, since you won’t get to share one with dad today.” Then the three brothers took turns dancing with their mother.

“Our lives have a soundtrack that reminds us of very special moments

12. Honor Cultural Traditions

Hank Lane Music | photographer: Hechler Photographers

Harlan Ellis of Hank Lane Music — a full-service entertainment provider based in New York — says, “Sometimes a client wants to nod to their personal family histories with cultural music. We can always get a specialist for a traditional Greek dance or the proper pronunciation of an Israeli song.”

The team has arranged for an opera singer to croon “Ave Maria” during nuptials, gospel singers to lead guests from the ceremony to the reception, and belly dancers to perform during cocktails. These are just the kinds of fun wedding entertainment ideas that guests remember.

Love in the Mix is eager to honor cultural and musical traditions as well. Rosenbach says, “Music, like cuisine, is a huge part of international flavor — we do every possible permutation of nationality with lots of customization.”

To ensure they get it right, their performers ask clients for specific details about their traditions. “We have expertise in so many types of music, but what might be popular for the masses may not be reflective of the couple’s interest. The hippest, latest Parisian dance song or that song you listened to in your childhood in India — these details help us create a supply of backup music using those very personal data points.”

13. Offer Light-Hearted Surprise Moments

celebrity video provided by Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment

“One of my wedding couples were both big fans of the show, The Office,” says Lomaz, “so much so that the bride made an agreement with the groom that he had to finish the series before the wedding.”

As a surprise, Artem Lomaz — NinetyThree Entertainment arranged for a couple of the show’s characters to record funny personalized messages for them. The actors who played Kevin and Meredith recorded clever videos, with “Meredith” lamenting that even though she and the groom, Danny, “met at a meet-and-greet and there was a lot of chemistry, (bride) Bri worked her magic on him.”

For another wedding, Lomaz spoke to the best man prior to the celebration — he notes that he tries to get to know all of the people closest to the couple if possible — and learned that in college the Yankees-fan groom used to have Twitter feuds with Jose Conseco.

So Lomaz asked Conseco to make a 30-second video of him reading condescending messages. The couple and their guests absolutely loved it. (see full video of personal messages from celebrities)

14. Bring the Music Down to the Dance Floor

A wedding is elevated by a beautifully-appointed stage and a gorgeous custom dance floor, but let’s not forget the spontaneous joy of performers joining the guests on the dance floor for a rousing rendition of a floor-filling song.

“We love getting on the dance floor and interacting directly with the guests at every dance party — it really brings the energy in the room to the next level!” says Mia Stone, operations manager and client liaison for Mannequin the Band, a Colorado-based band with a party mindset.

15. Marry the Wedding Entertainment to the Style & Theme of the Celebration

Entire Productions | photographer: Adeline and Grace Photography

“We are currently working on a ceremony for a couple that is creating a Goth-themed wedding. We came up with the idea of having an organ, a cello, and a string bass to add a low, mysterious, dark feel to the music to match the vibe they want,” says Stitely of Stitely Entertainment.

He notes that it’s so much fun listening to clients and thinking out of the box to make their celebration unique, saying, “It’s what keeps us fresh and on our creative edge.” Your band or DJ should work closely with you to craft creative wedding entertainment ideas.

Karen Waldman of San Francisco’s Entire Productions says that their wedding entertainment and event production team loves coordinating the music to the aesthetic of the wedding.

She says, “Maybe the couple wants to transport their guests back to the Roaring 1920s or to Cuba or Miami — our talent roster is so robust that we can turn any vision into a reality. Once we understand the clients’ needs, we’re able to pitch them targeted, expert performers who can bring their celebration to life.”

Waldman points out that this can be anything from a solo harpist or an electric LED violinist, to a Theremin player or 10-piece party band.

16. Know When to Let a Moment Unfold on its Own

Bride and groom dancing at their reception
KRIEGER | photographer: Lucas Rossi Photography

While talented wedding entertainers can certainly make any moment more special, a much harder skill to learn is when to stand back and let a moment stand.

DJ and MC KRIEGER says, “I try to let couples and families have their private moments.” He notes that in those moments, “People don’t care what the DJ has to say.”

Instead he lets things happen organically, saying, “Don’t commercialize it and stop trying to be funny. A wedding is not the place to insert yourself.” Rather, he lets the music tell guests what the mood is, keeping them in their feel-good moments without interruption.

17. Invite a Special Guest to Play with the Band

Danny Chaimson of Gold Coast Events Ltd. — with popular bands Gold Coast All Stars in Chicago, Golden Coast All Stars in LA, and more — reminds us to look to our close friends and family who have a musical background for making a wedding super-personal.

He says, “Getting them involved for a surprise performance with the band can really take the night to another level.” When it comes to asking a loved one to perform, Chaimson tells us to consider how well known he or she is to the other guests. The father-of-the-bride, an uncle, or even the bride will create more of an impact than a random friend from college.

Additionally, have the honorary guest stick to one or two upbeat songs in order to keep the performance feeling spontaneous and novel.

18. Enjoy an Intimate Moment at the End of the Night

The end of a wedding celebration sees the end of months (and often years) of planning and coordination. But it’s just the beginning of a lifetime together. We love how Mannequin the Band acknowledges this transition by offering their client couples one last special wedding moment.

“Something we’ve done in the past is have a private dance with just the newlyweds while all the guests are getting ready for their grand exit,” says Mia Stone with Mannequin the Band.

She adds, “Whether it’s a slow song or a more fun, upbeat one, it gives the couple a chance to reflect on the whole day and to have a special moment together — like having a private concert experience, just for the two of them. We love doing this because it gives us the chance to get personal with the couple and give them a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

16 Ways to Create 1920s Wedding Themes [With Great Gatsby Glamour]

1920s wedding themes outshine every other decade. Look: It’s no coincidence that couples rarely plan 80s or 50s-themed weddings. The 1920s were as glamorous (and romantic) as all the movies and books make it seem. It was the decade of change, new beginnings, and first times.

There was so much to celebrate in America during what they call “The Roaring Twenties.” The first radio and telephone brought the world closer to home, connecting friends and family better than ever before. In 1920, the last American troops returned home from Europe after World War I, and the Nineteenth Amendment was passed, giving women the right to vote.

This ultra-glam era, embodied in the renowned novel The Great Gatsby, represents a lavish lifestyle and the will to reinvent oneself. Fashion took daring risks. Construction boomed. And parties, especially, became livelier than ever before.

The 1920s were as glamorous (and romantic) as all the movies and books make it seem.”

Here at PartySlate, we’re optimistic about the new year. Like the 1920s, 2021 is a year to reinvent ourselves (and the decade — which got off to a very bumpy start).

We’ve curated a list of 16 essential tips on how to plan an epic Great Gatsby theme wedding that will make your special day an unforgettable celebration. Below, you’ll find all the details necessary for a lavish Gatsby wedding. From Art Deco dance floors and flashy entertainment to intrinsic light shows and a luxuriance of feather centerpieces, we know all the ways to capture the most glamorous 1920s wedding themes.

1. Choose a Venue with Vintage Flair for a Great Gatsby Wedding

Nothing suggests a Great Gatsby wedding theme like a vintage-styled hotel reception. If you want your guests to feel as if they’ve traveled back in time, find a venue that is both jazzy and elegant.

Selecting a venue with vintage flair and antique ambiance will set the stage for all 1920s wedding themes. Abstract flooring, candlelight, antique-like drapery, and walls covered in intrinsic designs will make guests forget that they’re living in 2021.

2. Go for the Gold With 1920s Wedding Themes

The use of gold represents the lavish lifestyle many partook in during The Roaring Twenties. Gold décor was at the center of every celebration in the 1920s, and it was undoubtedly at the center of this Great Gatsby wedding. 3. Have Your Tabletops Go Black Tie for a Gatsby Wedding

This wedding reception’s design shone a light on prominent Black men and women from the 1920s era. Each tablescape featured a specific luminary. What an excellent way to get a quick history lesson while socializing.

This couple made sure that every wedding detail came from inspiration in this era (even the prohibition). We love how guests were provided 20s-theme mocktails, making this wedding as dry as the 1920s. We also adore how the table settings boasted folded napkins that resembled mini white suites with black bow ties.

5. Choose Tabletops that are Black & White & Chic All Over

The Great Gatsby wedding themes should employ several extended metaphors — just like the novel. One recurring theme from the novel is nostalgia. It’s certainly a feeling that guests will experience when leaving an epic celebration.

This wedding perfectly utilized a black and white color scheme. Black and white feathers appeared on every table, highlighted by gold silverware and candle holders. Candles, feathers, curtain tassels, and gold accents created a chic ambiance that complemented the 1920s design elements.

This Great Gatsby-themed wedding celebration will make you feel like you’re a guest at one of Jay Gatsby’s notorious parties. We love how a lux lounge area is adjacent to the Art Deco dance floor, allowing guests to relax after dancing to “The Charleston.”

Without a doubt, emerald velvet sofas and gold cocktail tables (along with elegant candles and shimmering crystal chandeliers) are destined to create a perfect ambiance for even the most luxurious 1920s wedding themes.

Palm Beach, FL

The Roaring Twenties were captivating, exceptional, and outright historic (to say the least). 1920s wedding themes should be just as grand. This Great Gatsby wedding in Florida greeted guests with impressive feather arches and silver vases overflowing with white feathers. We also love how large glass vases lined the aisle with crystal details and glimmering candles. But that was just the beginning. To wrap up the night, a stunning firework display bid guests farewell.

8. Cue the Jazzy Entertainment for 1920s Weddding Themes

Miami Beach, FL

1920s wedding themes need lavish details and vibrant lighting. We love how this wedding took these elements to the next level. As soon as guests entered the “burgundy cherry blossom forest” that was projected onto every wall of the venue, they were completely immersed in this spectacular celebration. The wow-worthy moments continued with unforgettable live entertainment. The wedding reception included Gatsby flapper acts, acrobats, lollipop performances, burlesque shows, and a magic act. All this action brought a vibrant energy to the room — the same energy you would have found in The Roaring Twenties.

If you plan to host an epic Great Gatsby wedding, expect your guests to dress to the nines. Although, we all know that all eyes will be on the couple. This bride wore a beautiful beaded gown and polished off the look with a stunning pair of Valentino heels and a vintage faux fur wedding shawl. It was both simple and elegant. If you want to play the part of a 1920s gal, you have to dress the part.

10. Deck out Your Bar With a Deco Design

Greenwich, CT

The Great Gatsby took place during a time of new production and wealth. This glittering gold bar area may not take up much space, but it definitely catches our eye and aligns perfectly with The Great Gatsby wedding themes. A counter shaped like a “gold bar” is an incredible way to serve drinks. This Roaring Twenties-themed wedding is detailed with glitter, glam, gold, and imaginative designs — but the shimmering gold bar with vertical Art Deco designs was definitely the cherry on top.

11. Select a Gold Tent for Great Gatsby Glamour

We love how each special moment of this wedding night took place in a different environment. A see-through tent with white linen and a white matte satin aisle runner (designed with a modern ombre style) was created to capture the union of the bride and groom. After the ceremony, guests transitioned to a custom gold tent with beautiful drapings. A custom gold and black mirrored bar, crystal-draped chandeliers, and luxe gold chairs highlighted the beautiful diamond-shaped feasting table.

12. Wow With Innovative Seating Charts

Las Vegas, NV

Upon entering this wedding, guests were greeted by flapper girls who served them their table assignments — a very unique way of providing the seating chart. Names and table numbers were attached to mini Champagne bottles with a cute straw that guests could use throughout the reception. We love how this idea elevates having fun and celebrating (with the same levity seen at a 1920s party).

13. Offer Signage & Bubbly With 1920s Style

Fans of The Great Gatsby movie will instantly recognize this Art Deco font. Art Deco signage is an important addition to all Great Gatsby wedding themes. This wedding featured an Art Deco sign thanking friends and family for joining the celebration. To show their appreciation, the couple placed mini take-home Champagne bottles around the sign. Signage is important in any wedding, so why not add some Gatsby-style to it?

The Roaring Twenties had a glamorous and elegant vibrancy that no other decade acquired.  This Gatsby wedding embodied all that and more. The dark geometric dance floor beautifully complemented bright white florals and gold décor found throughout the venue. The celebration culminated on the dance floor with flashy flapper girls performing a spectacular show for everyone to enjoy.

This wedding boasted more glamour and glitz than you could ever imagine. We love how gold and navy blue were beautifully combined for this wedding color palette. Moreover, an impressive custom-made reception stage stole the show with its shimmering luxurious fabrics, mirror panels (with so much pizzaz), large gold frames, and crystal chandeliers. Towering urns with gorgeous white feathers and crystal candelabras will elevate the most sensational Great Gatsby wedding themes.

16. Incorporate Lavish White Feathers into your Florals

Gatsby Inspired Hotel Wedding | PartySlate
photographer: Sam and Sola Studio

Seattle, WA

In Jay Gatsby’s world, no party was put on without the presence of creative décor. This wedding incorporated the bright, fluffy feathers into every floral piece (even the bouquet). Next to the green florals, these white feathers popped, creating a beautiful roaring 20s ambiance. Feathers and pampas lined the tables, making the perfect centerpieces. This glamorous Great-Gatsby wedding reminded us that white feathers match with everything.

What is a Great Gatsby-Themed Wedding?

A Great Gatsby-Themed Wedding is a glimpse into the iconic celebrations represented in The Great Gatsby, a classic American novel set in The Roaring Twenties.  It’s a night spent in 1920s attire — anything beaded, sequined, velvet, or ruffled — surrounded by vintage fabric, feather centerpieces, and a lot of glitzy gold décor. There are many ways to go about planning your dream Gatsby wedding. PartySlate offers an extensive selection of professional wedding planners and designers to help create your celebration.

How Do You Throw a Great Gatsby Party?

1920s wedding themes are always popular, as everyone loves celebrating this iconic decade. Any party in the 1920s was very secretive (hence the underground speakeasies), so consider hosting your celebration in the evening. Send out invitations far in advance so your guests can find the most dazzling outfit. Moreover, add glam to your invitations with an Art Deco look and feel — choose geometric lines, patterns, and plenty of gold.

Next, focus on photo-worthy décor. Head over to our real events page for more inspiration or read our Great Gatsby party themes & ideas article

What Do You Do at a Neon Party?

Neon-themed parties will differ depending on the type of event. A neon wedding, for example, will have a completely different schedule than a glow-in-the-dark Bar Mitzvah party.

Every celebration, however, can benefit from delicious catering, dynamic entertainment, and wow-worthy décor.

When it comes to catering, you might choose passed plates with neon trays for a cutting-edge cocktail party. Wedding couples may prefer to go with a sparkling Champagne wall and laser light décor

A violinist with a glow-in-the-dark instrument may be perfect for wedding entertainment, while a DJ with a neon mixer station may be the best choice for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah party.

Remember, your party planner and team of vendors can help you decide on which glow-in-the-dark party ideas are right for you and your unique celebration.
