Baby Shower Centerpieces by Style
1. Up the Glam Factor
Think beyond teddy bear décor and a blue or pink color palette with a modern and glamorous baby shower style. Elevate your centerpieces with dyed florals, modern glassware, and contrasting neutrals. We especially love how linen, mirrored tabletops, and even ceiling décor can work together to create a photo-worthy tablescape.
Tropical centerpieces are not one-size-fits-all. Capture a refined tropical vibe with fresh white blooms and tranquil palms. Lean into a more playful aesthetic with a table runner of colorful balloons or bright fruits. For a boho vibe, consider throw-pillow seating with elevated palm fronds. You can even look to tropical wedding centerpieces, as well as our favorite tropical party ideas on PartySlate, for additional inspiration.

Boho baby shower centerpieces wow with lush pampas grass and unique color palettes. Of course, centerpieces are only one piece of the puzzle. Curate an Instagrammable boho tablescape with round throw pillows, suspended macramé, and wicker place settings. The overall vibe is all in the details.
Bring a dreamy yet playful vibe to your baby shower with whimsical centerpieces. Guests will love the creativity that comes with candy-colored florals and optical illusions (cue the floating florals). We especially love how glass candle holders can be filled with colorful sprinkles, beads, or gemstones for a one-of-a-kind candlelit celebration.
For those who want a celebratory look that stands the test of time, consider classic floral centerpieces. We recommend using white and cream florals for your base and then adding in bolder colors such as blues or pinks. For couples who want to maintain a timeless look while still offering unique party elements, we suggest keeping your décor classic and opting for immersive entertainment options and one-of-a-kind party favors for a memorable party.

Celebrate the impending arrival of your little one amongst the moon and stars with a celestial-themed baby shower. Utilize endless rows of floating candles to mimic the stars and suspended white balloons to evoke the clouds. We also appreciate how a backdrop of blue linen recreates the night sky. For even more celestial baby shower inspiration, see how The Real Housewives brought the “star power” for Andy Cohen’s celestial baby shower.

We love a fun play on words, and it seems like we’re not alone. Rain-themed baby showers are always trending. Just check out our list of top baby shower themes of all time. We love how umbrella centerpieces can range in color and décor to match your style — be it playful or refined.
Nautical baby showers are another popular baby shower theme. This theme is especially perfect for the creative at heart. We love how floral centerpieces are fashioned to look like ocean waves or drifting sailboats. Make sure to click “See More” to discover even more ways to capture a nautical theme. Hint: Use life-saving buoys to decorate seating or seashells to distinguish each place setting.
A grand new adventure awaits with the arrival of your little one. What better way to celebrate than with a jungle theme baby shower? Our favorite safari baby shower centerpieces feature animal figurines, lush greenery, and bold floral décor. Make sure to click “See More” to see how each theme boasts its own unique vibe — proving this baby shower theme fits any style.

Take your celebration outside and keep the beauty of nature in focus with a woodsy or farmer’s market theme. Laden your tablescape with everything from fresh veggies and tree trunks to moss and wildflowers. Pro tip: You can make your reception tables even more unique by adding natural elements and curated menus to your place settings.

We love unique party themes, especially those which revolve around our favorite stories. Celebrate the love of reading with décor from iconic childhood literature like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or tales by Dr. Seuss. You can even use books to replace the traditional floral vase.
12. Celebrate New Beginnings With Spring Centerpieces
Spring, like parenthood, is filled with new beginnings. It’s to celebrate as the earth reawakens and new life begins to bloom. Capture this joyful time with spring baby shower centerpieces. Incorporate fresh florals, mellow hues, and delicate greenery. We also recommend keeping tablescapes minimal so your baby shower centerpieces remain a focal point.
Summer baby showers are for bright colors and cheerful designs. Cue colorful-patterned linen, radiant florals, and whimsical balloons. Whether you opt for understated centerpieces with lavish backdrops or centerpieces that draw all eyes to the table, keep summer in mind with a joyful vibe.

Fall is a time of transition and change. It’s also a time of rich colors, thrilling chills in the air, and the bustle of last gatherings before the winter months set in. Fall baby showers are the perfect chance to get creative and go with bold designs, brilliant jewel tones, and rustic details. See why these autumn baby shower centerpieces make us want to linger at our tables long after the last slice of cake.
Winter baby showers are the perfect opportunity to capture the pristine beauty of ice, snow, and sparkle. Curate your own winter wonderland with evergreen tree centerpieces (snow covered or primed for the holidays), twinkling candlelight, and lucite elements. With showers this stunning, we wouldn’t mind if the season lasted a little longer.
We recommend centerpieces for a baby shower if your celebration includes tabletops for gathering — whether for a seated meal or at casual cocktail tables. Centerpieces contribute to the overall vibe of your celebration and create a beautiful space for guests to enjoy. Moreover, you will likely want photographs of your guests interacting at your celebration. Centerpieces ensure these photos will be beautiful as well as meaningful.
A lot goes into preparing for your new arrival. As such, your baby shower should offer an opportunity for you to relax and enjoy time with your loved ones. We recommend hiring a team of vendors to ensure that your celebration is seamless from start to finish — and without stress. Start with an event planner who will guide you through your other hires and all of your party logistics. For those who choose to forgo an event planner, we recommend hiring the following vendors for a memorable celebration.

50th birthday party themes bring fun and creativity to your milestone celebration. After all, turning 50 represents a well-lived half century — and that is worth celebrating. A cake is nice, but a party is even better.
So what is a good theme for a 50th birthday party? We’ve done the work for you and have rounded up our favorite 50th birthday party theme ideas, as well as examples from real birthday party celebrations.
Best of all? We’ve included the party vendors behind each celebration. While a great party starts with a great idea, it takes a talented team of event professionals to design and produce a memorable milestone birthday.
From 50th birthday colors to 50th birthday music, we’re sharing all of the ways to elevate the best 50th birthday party themes. Your inspiration starts here.
1. Music-Inspired 50th Birthday Party Themes
photographer: Xistence Photography | event planner: Clandestine Events and Experiences | floral: Kim Starr Wise Floral Events | venue: The Music Box Village
Jazz Fest is the perfect time of year for a milestone birthday party in New Orleans; the city has an especially festive vibe during the yearly music festival. Guests at this private birthday celebration not only explored the southern city, but dined al fresco and enjoyed creative entertainment, before partying all night on Frenchmen Street.
Studio 54 was the epitome of 70s-era cool, with stars flocking to the nightclub to drink and boogie the night away. We appreciate how this party recreates that disco decade glam with inspired décor, like ceilings and walls covered in geometric silver balloons and Warhol-esque installations and performers.
Guests followed the call of the disco ball at this Colorado birthday party celebration. We can’t get enough of how the venue’s walls are completely covered in silver streamers — making it feel as if you’re inside of the disco ball itself — while oodles of the classic mirrored orbs sent festive specks of reflected candlelight throughout the space. Also, don’t miss the disco-rific signage.
A subterranean New York club is the perfect setting for a dance-all-night celebration for a music lover. Painted rabbits roamed the venue, while guests boogied on the dance floor all night long. And when it comes to making any party more festive, we absolutely love a good confetti drop — oh, and late-night passed sliders and a food truck visit doesn’t hurt either.
photographer: Docuvitae | design And production: JOWY Productions | venue: Private Residence| catering: The Kitchen For Exploring Foods, APL | specialty bar: Snake Oil Cocktail Company | props and decor: Studio D Decor | invitations/printed materials: La Artista | rentals: Bright Event Rentals | linens: La Tavola Fine Linen | props and Decor: 1540 | Entertainment: DJ Jason Jasepi and Queen Nation | Sound: CBC Technical | Lighting: LightenUp, Inc.
With a wooded setting and a bar dressed up as a rock ‘n’ roll-style graffitied van, this 50th birthday party theme has the feeling of a secret concert. The Queen tribute band had guests on their feet while low lighting and string lights offered just the right amount of musical moodiness. We also love the custom dance floor.
This birthday girl’s 50th featured a chic, modern scene — drenched in purple hues. There are so many elements we adore, that we can’t fit them all here: that wow entrance with its enveloping lavender uplit draping; the hanging mini mirrors as place cards; the sparkling linen and exquisite place settings — and the list goes on.
photographer: Jillian Rose Photography | design & décor: XO Bloom | venue: 101 north eatery | rental: Luna Party Rentals | balloons: Party Shop Avenue | cake: Jamie cakes in Thousand Oaks
We would describe this beautiful celebration as sparkling, glittering, and any other shimmery adjective you can come up with. Its dual hues flowed from an awesome balloon installation to the tabletops, with their red rose centerpieces and gold chargers, and even onto the cake — see more photos to ogle this ode to iconic fashion and world travel.
photography: Leeann Marie | event planning & design: Tim Komen Event Studio | florals: Hens and Chicks | venue: Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh | rentals: All Occasions Party Rental and Marbella Event Furniture & Decor Rental | Linens: Mosaic Inc | balloons: Misselaineous Balloons
When one color is not enough to express the personality of the celebrant — only all of the hues of the rainbow will do. This colorful celebration employed a hovering rainbow of balloons, a bright blue statue of David, and happy, artful iconography to celebrate one lucky birthday girl. We also love the restrained, yet totally glamorous look of the lounge space.
photographer: Steve Lee Photo and Video | event planner: Oulala! What an Event | décor & rentals: Blooming Gallery | venue: Evelyn’s Park Conservancy | invitations: Bering’s Bissonnet | caterer: Swift + Company | coffee bar: Java Pura | cake: Dessert Gallery
We love this indoor-outdoor event. The black, white, and gold theme is a classic and was taken up a notch with the addition of green trees and leaves around the venue — bringing the garden in. The light weathered wood added another outdoorsy element to the party and softened the expansive venue.
This citrus-inspired celebration started its theming with invitations boasting bright fuschia and yellow hues accented with delicate florals and images of lemon slices. Guest enjoying dining at color-filled tabletops in the form of sunny florals in towering arrangements and lemon, lime, grapefruit, and orange colors. We adore how sliced and whole lemons joined the blooms in a fresh take on décor.
We love the mix of patterns that amp the personality of this chic affair. On-trend black accents in the form of striped runners and chairs offset the pops of red and pink florals that ran down the tables’ centers. Hot pink napkins continued the color story.
The 20s earned its reputation as the most glamorous era by continuing to inspire year after year. We love this party’s fresh take on the decade, with its modern twist — dramatic lit on-trend geometric shapes that define the dance floor, and gold tassels blanketing the ceiling and providing movement. And the custom-printed black and gold floor is something to behold.
photographer: Lucero Photography | planner: Simon Says Design | venue: FLDWRK | rentals: Create A Party Rentals | ice cream bar: Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream | dessert: Merely Sweets | bar: CaliCraft Cocktails
Glamorous feather centerpieces and sparkling gold runners set the table for a Prohibition-perfect party. Luxe lounge areas with black and white silk striped furniture created perfect spots for gathering. We love how vintage-style signage directed guests to cocktail areas and the photobooth.
Birthday celebrants turning 50 spent their formative teen years in the epic 80s. This celebration took its vibe from the period with rad signage, a light-up dance floor, and table arcade games. We adore the way guests donned leg warmers and shiny leggings inspired by 80s workouts and even the band rocked fashion from the era.
It’s time to put your boogie shoes on. This disco 50th birthday party theme brought everyone to the rainbow-lit dance floor. But first, guests enjoyed a lavish meal at mirrored tabletops with custom disco ball-round menus.
Click to see how personalized, laser cut mirror place cards and chic black seating made for a sophisticated dining experience — with a hint of Saturday Night Fever. Make sure to stay for a glimpse of the 50th birthday cake with an icing replica of the birthday girl. You have to see it to believe it.
It’s impossible for us to narrow down what we love about this celebration so we will list a few: that trippy, mod print on the bar, the giant mushrooms on the tabletops, and the glam gold décor. Guests revived the sexy fun of the 70s with slinky dresses, sequined shirts, velvet jumpsuits, and dramatic wigs.
The inaugural celebration in this renovated event space ironically called back to another era. Disco music set the tone for this dance party, as did guests’ sartorial choices which recalled a time of knee-high white patent leather boots and mini-skirts.
Every detail of this thoughtful celebration was inspired by the guest of honor. Rather than a guestbook, everyone left their well wishes and loving messages on vinyl from the celebrant’s favorite album. Instead of a flight, guests were treated to a re-creation of Italy in Florida. True to the romantic locale being evoked, this garden celebration featured colorful florals and fresh fare.
photographer: Curtis Dahl Photography | event planner: International Event Company | florals: Marks Garden | venue: National Orange Show Events Center |videographer: Vidicam Productions | decor & furniture: EDGE Design and Decor | lighting: The Lighter Side | band: Mama Said Entertainment | dj: Dj Jon B | cake: Joanie & Leigh’s Cakes | linens: La Tavola Fine Linen | rentals, chairs & table top rentals: Classic Event & Tent Rentals | On Site Photo Station: John Solano Photography | Dancers: Entertainment Plus Productions | dance floor: RB Dance Floor | Activities: Vita Perfetta
“50 and Fabulous” was the perfect 50th birthday party theme choice for a celebration that incorporated all of the birthday girl’s favorites. Décor in the chic combo of hot pink and sleek black with some silver sparkle thrown in set a luxurious scene. We love the clever idea of the step-and-repeat photo spot complete with paparazzi and celebrity look-alikes for guests to pose with.
This Scottish pub-themed party incorporated all of the hobbies and interests of the man turning 50. That meant guests got to enjoy dancing on a custom plaid dance floor, a cigar bar, and whiskey cocktails from a rustic wood bar. We adore the tartan, dark wood, antlers, and barrel décor — as well as the super-cool balloon installations.
photographer: Brian Kramer Photography | event planner: Alyson Fox, Levine Fox Events | design: Revelry Event Designer | venue: Mr. C Beverly Hills | entertainment: Zen Arts | linens: La Tavola Fine Linen | paper goods & invitations: Lehr & Black
This chic soirée featured dreamy white candlelight and alabaster calla lilies against the backdrop of a stunning, sprawling, sparkling Los Angeles city view. Gray velvet chairs and lounge areas added to the modern elegance. We love the inspired touch of photographic prints of the birthday boy’s face on sticks for fun photo ops.
This sunny southern-inspired oyster roast was garden set, infused with greenery and crimson and pink florals. Lanterns and hanging candles and a raw wood bar set a decidedly rustic mood. We love how this 50th birthday party incorporated guest fun and learning in one fun activity with oyster-shucking — complete with mesh metal safety gloves and nautical-striped aprons.
What do you get when you take a couple from Germany who live in Mexico and bring them — and their international friends — to New York? A fun, food-filled weekend. We would have loved to have been a passenger on this party bus, making stops for Brooklyn’s best bites before ending in Manhattan’s meat-packing district for a dinner party.
For a diamond- and champagne-loving 50-year-old, a Hollywood penthouse created the perfect backdrop for a gorgeous celebration, offering dramatic views of the sparkling hills at sunset. We love how the theming was carried to the cocktails with giant diamond ice cubes and onto the custom gold mirrored dance floor that was almost too pretty to dance on (almost).
This soirée offers room after room of changing moods and designs, and we’re having a hard time picking our favorite. You know it’s going to be a beautiful celebration when you enter into a stunning floral peacock with its petals trailing the floor and leading the way. Guests dined inside in an improbable starlit fantasy hovered over by clouds of white balloons for a dreamy vibe.
This celebration was the perfect pairing of a mid-century modern setting, furniture, and décor with a mid-century 50th birthday party theme. Fresh design included pops of citrus hues, bright lacquered tables, and vintage glassware serving up “Lounge Lizard” and “Steady Freddy” cocktails. We appreciate the nod to Palm Springs chic with palm tree prints throughout.
This celebration perfectly captured the spirit of Bollywood with its explosion of color, festive dancing, and drapery galore. We’re obsessed with the use of ornate umbrellas as décor and the gorgeous golden cake topped with a mini elephant. Shiny silk, gauzy deeply-hued drapes, brocade, and more mix for a global feel.
Colorful drapery and a glowing nighttime tent created a dreamy Moroccan-themed 50th birthday party theme. Richly-hued decorative pillows and table linen created a vibrant backdrop for this beautiful soirée. We love how red and pink florals coordinated with the custom laser-cut bar front in a pattern resembling classic Moroccan tiles.
Italy’s seascapes are hard to compete with, but this Sardinia-set 50th birthday party created a sunset vision with kings tables drenched in red florals with chandeliers and string lighting floating above. Lucky guests experienced creative entertainment in the form of costumed, stilted performers and fireworks. In a word: sigh.
This 50th birthday party made the most of all of the natural beauty Oregon has to offer. Guests enjoyed white water rafting, fishing, and more, capped by sunset dinners. We can’t think of a better way to end an active day than by sipping cocktails with friends while indulging in fresh grilled fish in our custom, matching plaid shirts.
Most celebrations feel like a vacation from the everyday, but this affair was truly an escape — a weekend in Marrakech, Morocco. A dreamy entrance flanked by hundreds of candles led guests into an architecturally stunning space uplit in vibrant red. We adore how the mirrored tabletops reflected and multiplied the vision.
It doesn’t get much more NYC than pairing the iconic Rainbow Room with the also-iconic Rockettes dancers for a city celebration complete with views and a towering four-tiered 50th birthday cake. We love the way the urban space has been made to feel like a lush, luxurious indoor garden — but with stunning city views.
Yet another way to experience the grandeur of New York is by rooftop — surrounded by the very skyscrapers that made the city famous. We appreciate how guests were seated at one long table to enjoy toasts and each other, as well as the picturesque outdoor fountain and sculpted topiaries.
This celebration added authenticity with its florals inspired by Marrakech’s lovely Jardin Marjorelle — a favorite of tourists and locals alike. We love the striking Ikebana-like arrangements of blooms, as well as the exotic romance of printed linen and rows and rows of flickering candles.
This bloom-filled 50th birthday party theme looks like the absolute definition of spring. Peonies, roses, orchids, and phalaenopsis (try saying that three times fast) in all shades of pink, pink, and more pink made for an ultra-feminine and super luxurious affair. We love this 50th birthday party’s inspired, glam setting — in Beverly Hills, of course.
Florals cascaded over tabletops, hovered in midair arrangements, and even adorned each and every place setting at this 50th birthday party. Gleaming gold chairs and chargers brought additional glamour to tabletops, as did towering candelabras. We adore the way the rose-theming carried over onto the bar — not with a mere arrangement, but in the form of a gold, laser-cut design.
Step one: invite your friend to a charity ball. Step two: surprise her with a 50th birthday party celebration with a masquerade theme instead. With sleek purple uplighting, luxe gray draping, and dramatic candelabras, this 50th birthday party went big on the glamour. We especially love the custom-printed, rose-filled dance floor.
Sometimes life really is all moonlight and roses. This surprise 50th birthday party dazzled guests with red and gold details. A ceiling installation of suspended red roses and orbed lighting crowned lavish tablescapes that featured ornate gold seating and satiny red napkins.
We also love the personalized dance floor — not to mention, the luxe lounge area with red velvet and gold metal elements. Best of all? A red velvet structure turned the birthday cake into an unforgettable photo op. Click to see more here.
What’s better than a tropical-themed 50th birthday party? A surprise tropical-themed 50th birthday party! This elegant and chic take on the tropics utilized a refined palette of white florals and lush greenery combined with beachy elements like rustic wooden chairs and a “message in a bottle” station for well wishes. We love the fresh take on seaside fare with a live oyster shucker.
This surprise 50th birthday party theme aimed to please the birthday girl, with photos from her life which created a retrospective while a live event painter captured the current celebration. Guests enjoyed a cake that convincingly resembled tree bark carved with messages, a s’mores bar, and a Good Humor ice cream truck. We adore the signage representing meaningful Chicago mainstays.
This double milestone birthday party — celebrating a 21st and a 50th — proved that music can bridge the generational gap. We love the play on words, with band UB40 playing live and t-shirt, hats, and more swag emblazoned with “UB21” and “UB50.” The luxe lavender lighting created a club vibe.
Aqua hues flowed from tabletops to walls adorned in immersive projection mapping images. Navy velvet lounge areas provided luxurious gathering spots for guests of this double milestone party, celebrating a 50th and a 60th birthday. We love how bright white florals pop against the gorgeous monochromatic blue scheme.
photographer: PS Photography and Films | event planner: Creative Touch Party Design | design, décor & floral: Xquisite Events | venue: The Country Club at Mirasol | entertainment: Motiv8 Events | bakery and desserts: Earth and Sugar | invitations & print: Carla Hagan Calligraphy and Design
This 50th birthday party was all things elegance, luxury, glamour, — and gold. Golden tones were carried from the signage and sequined pillows to the tabletops on chargers, chairs, and even gorgeous gold-tipped white roses. We especially love the engraved Maker’s Mark bottles that doubled as place cards and the gleaming gold dance floor.
Tables covered in deep-red velvet and topped with crimson roses were the perfect backdrop for glamorous rose gold accents. We love the shimmer of the sequined rose gold cocktail tables and the custom bar in the same hue. Don’t miss the carved ice display and the fun cake with a likeness of the birthday girl in tree pose atop its turquoise icing — and gold candles, of course.
photographers: Madison Fender & Jeremy Garretson | florals: Sag Harbor Florist | design & catering: Art of Eating Catering | friday venue: Topping Rose House | saturday venue: Private Hamptons Estate | DJ: Party King Entertainment | tent: Nassau Tent | rentals: Party Rental Ltd. | lighting: Matt Murphy Event Lighting
This Rock ‘n’ Roll-themed celebration rocked it through an entire weekend with a Friday night fantasy welcome party followed by a tented affair on Saturday. We adore the attention to detail like the seating by band name and the custom-designed concert tickets that each guest received.
This birthday girl celebrated her milestone alongside family, friends, and a great cover band playing her favorite Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and Beatles tunes. A black, white, and red color scheme was carried through every chic detail, from the clever quote-printed napkins to the wow-worthy custom cake we can’t stop talking about.
This 50th birthday party was inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend” scene in the movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” The tented affair was the perfect combination of a red carpet moment and 50s-era glamour. Crystals and chandeliers brought a diamond aesthetic to the beautifully-draped tent.
“James Bond” is short-hand for all things cool and classy, so it makes perfect sense to take an icon of manhood as celebration inspiration. We appreciate the attention to detail that went into elements like a bar constructed entirely of ice, hanging crystals, red uplighting, and, of course, Bond-worthy girls clad in bikinis to feté the guest of honor.
John Hughes captured the angst of a generation with his movies, and Pretty in Pink was an iconic flick for teens everywhere. We love all of the ways the party theme was expressed, from the recreation of a high school prom (complete with guests donning 80s-style prom dresses) to the florals, table décor and more in all hues of pink.

Both as a novel and movie, 50 Shades of Grey took the world by storm. We love how this celebration brings a personalized twist to this popular series with a “50 Shades of Gigi” birthday party theme. What kind of food do you serve at a graduation party?
First, serve food that your graduate loves. Personalizing your food is also a fun addition to your party. Incorporate your child’s graduating year, new school colors, and even their name on the catering display for a unique and easy way to customize your cuisine. Find a caterer that will be able to execute all of your favorite ideas.
The best party themes for your kid’s birthday should reflect their personality. And if your child is creative, carefree, and adventurous, a boho birthday might be for them. A boho birthday party takes the cake as our current favorite kids birthday party theme.
Whether it’s your child’s name or a nod to the theme, signage is a chic and customized way to provide a focal point (and photo moment) for your child’s birthday party.
Leveraging pastels for a boho-inspired party color palette feels relatively straightforward, but consider playing with color combinations or prioritizing a single pastel hue.

When it comes to wicker, baskets are just the beginning. Infuse your tablescape, seating, and overall party décor with casual and comfortable, yet chic wicker.

It’s unavoidable: your kids are going to want a bounce house. But you can work with a decor partner, florist, or balloon artist to elevate your bounce house to be a beautiful focal point.
Photo ops can blend seamlessly with the rest of your party décor. Customized backdrops, decked-out seating areas, and creative installations are a few of our favorite approaches.
It wouldn’t be a kid’s birthday party without dessert. Cakes and take-home confections offer the perfect opportunity to carry your boho theme through to the very end of your event.
A boho style birthday party is all about pastel colors, vibrant flowers, and creating a free-spirited atmosphere. Décor pieces like rainbows, flower crowns, pampas grass, and matte balloons are perfectly on theme. Details such as themed signage, wicker accents, photo-ops, and decorated pastries will make your boho party even better.
How do you throw a boho birthday party?
First, hire an event planner that can help develop your vision for this special celebration. Then, hire your design team and any other vendors you need to create and execute the boho party of your child’s dreams. Don’t forget to secure a photographer to capture sweet pictures of your little one that you will cherish for years to come.

There’s no better reason to throw a party than a birthday. Whether you’re celebrating another decade older or your child’s very first year, throwing a soirée to ring in a new age doesn’t have to be stressful. Use our 7-step guide to plan a birthday party that you and your loved ones will remember for many years — and ages — to come.
Hiring an event planner is optional, but highly recommended. An event planner will not only attend to every detail day-of so you can enjoy your event, but will also have clever ideas and creative tricks when it comes to planning the décor, theme, and style. Event planners featured on PartySlate know the business – and the people in the business. They have built strong connections with sought-after event professionals, and will not only be able to recommend the best venues, photographers, caterers, bakeries, bands, and more, but will also ensure you lock them down for your milestone birthday party celebration.
Choosing the perfect venue should be your next decision. There are three key factors that go into venue selection. The first is to consider what amenities you might need. Do you need WiFi, valet, A/V equipment, or in-house catering? Use our filters to sort by what you need. Second, think about what type of space will work best for your milestone birthday party. Favorite venues include rooftops, gardens, restaurants, and lofts and warehouses. Lastly, consider if your desired spaces have the capacity to accommodate your event type and guest list. With the help of your planner, you can decide which event space meets all of your needs, whether you prioritize a spectacular view, a venue with activities, or a convenient location.
Birthday parties are meant to be fun, so now is the time to get creative. Your special day calls for a theme and party elements that reflect your personality – and the options are endless. Themes are a fun way to get the ball rolling, whether you instill a dress code for a roaring 20s bash or transport guests to a tropical paradise at a luau. PartySlate has hundreds of curated photos to help you select your perfect theme. There are so many ways to personalize a birthday soiree – think custom signage, monogrammed napkins, and creative photo ops. Spelling out the guest of honor’s name is an easy way to add a personal touch to the décor.
Once you’ve selected a venue, curated a theme, and determined your event style, it’s time to invite your guests. Introduce your milestone birthday party in style and make a good first impression with on-theme invitations and beautifully curated stationery. Your birthday party invitations can range from simple and elegant to playful and personalized.
There is no better way to ensure your party is enjoyable and memorable than by hiring engaging entertainment. An energetic DJ that gets every guest to the dance floor or a talented band that captivates its audience is an invaluable addition to any event, especially a celebratory birthday party. Event entertainment is not limited to musicians and MCs – magicians, dancers, and acrobats can keep guests engaged and captivated throughout the entire celebration. And don’t forget to hire a photographer to capture every exciting moment, so you can relive your party for years to come.
One of the most anticipated milestone birthday party elements is the food. Passed hors d’oeuvres, a sit down dinner, or a decadent buffet can be an event highlight your guests will look back on with watering mouths. Creative catering is a popular birthday party trend, from nitrogen ice cream stations to epic charcuterie boards, you don’t have to play it safe when it comes to birthday party cuisine.
What’s a birthday party without a birthday cake? All eyes will be on your delicious confection when you blow out your birthday candles. Desserts are the perfect way to incorporate your party’s theme or enhance the event’s color palette. Take your sweet treats a step further with decadent spreads that can range anywhere from creative cupcake displays to donut walls and candy stations, all of which are featured on PartySlate. Another delicious trend we love is a cake constructed out of different cheeses. Don’t forget to send your guests off with a sweet surprise – mini macaroons and custom wrapped pastries are party favors your guests will adore.

Give your friends and family an unforgettable experience with a wedding in paradise. Tropical weddings range from destination celebration to tropical wedding themes closer to home.
We asked renowned wedding planner Amy Katz, of Amy Katz Events, for insider tips on how to host a tropical wedding — with or without the beach. Katz tells us, “I think that you can create any type of environment within a venue, it just takes some creativity and vision! The vibe has to start from the guests first introduction to the wedding.”
We’ve also searched through thousands of real weddings on PartySlate to find the best tropical wedding ideas. From beachside ceremonies to Midwest ballrooms filled with monstera leaves, here’s how to set the scene for a wedding in paradise.
1. Keep the Palm Trees in View
Nothing says paradise like palm trees swaying in the breeze. Whether you exchange vows with your toes dipped in the sand, or head indoors for a ballroom celebration, keep the palm trees in sight.
Host your celebration at one of our favorite beach wedding venues for a setting that organically incorporates palm trees into the backdrop of your celebration. You can also work with a talented wedding planner and florist to create your own paradise — with or without the beach.
Create anticipation for your celebration before it even begins with tropical wedding invitations. Laser-cut invitations bring a modern vibe while custom artwork offers the opportunity to incorporate your wedding colors (and even your wedding venue) into the design. You can find your invitations and print company with PartySlate’s curated vendor directory. Make sure to use the filters to narrow your search.
It might be hard to imagine such a thing as too much sun, especially if you live in the Midwest like many of us at PartySlate. However, guests at your tropical ceremony will appreciate the comfort of a shaded canopy. Work with a talented rental company to create protective shading that doubles as stunning décor. Trust us, your guests will thank you.
Paradise is in the details. Perfect your tropical wedding bouquet, boutonnière, or leis with bright blooms. Some of our favorite tropical flowers include protea, anthurium, birds of paradise, and ginger lily. We also love how more traditional blooms like calla lilies can create a beautiful contrast with brighter florals.
Pro tip: Make sure to ask your wedding florist which blooms are in season for your wedding date.

5. Bring Palm Fronds and Monstera Leaves Front and Center
Don’t underestimate the beauty of natural greenery. We love how palm fronds and monstera leaves can transform any event space into a tropical paradise. Lush foliage beautifies everything from your wedding arch to centerpieces. For heightened elegance, consider adding orchids or softer floral details to the surrounding greenery.
photographer: Chantal Pryor Photography | The Penthouse Hyde Park
There’s a good chance that guests will spend at least half of the wedding reception at their table. Make sure to create a beautiful and curated space where they can wine, dine, and converse. Wicker place settings bring a tropical vibe to your wedding reception table. We especially love how the neutral fibers allow brighter napkins and florals to pop.
photographer: Jose Ruiz Photography | Blue Thistle Productions
Show guests a look they haven’t seen before with custom seating. We love how rattan seating brings an instant tropical vibe to your wedding ceremony or reception. Consider rattan thrones for you and your beloved and rattan dining chairs for your guests. We also love how rattan chairs can be combined with other seating styles for an innovative look. Make sure to use PartySlate’s curated vendor directory to find an available rental company near you.
photographer: Hannah Costello Photogrpahy | Nicole Alexandra Events & Designs
Think beyond floral and foliage with bright and colorful tropical décor. Use citrus and other tropical fruits to embellish everything from your wedding tablescape to wedding cake. We especially love how fruit can elevate any wedding style — be it rustic, modern, or boho.
Is it really a tropical setting without a tropical cocktail? Keep palettes refreshed with colorful cocktails and mocktails. Capture a tropical vibe with the addition of fruity garnishes and bright hues. Make sure to hire a professional bar service to keep the drinks flowing seamlessly — and with Instagram-worthy results.

10. Illuminate the Night With Vibrant Lighting in Citrus Hues
Make wedding lighting a top priority. We love how lighting can transform any event space into a tropical destination. Go with bright, citrus-color hues to illuminate everything from tablescapes to the dance floor. Moreover, you can find an experienced lighting company with the help of PartySlate’s curated directory.
photographer: Ravanui Lucas | Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora
How do you create a tropical wedding vibe in a non-tropical locale?
Amy Katz of Amy Katz Events tells us, “The vibe has to start from the guests’ first introduction to the wedding. The invitation should have a tropical theme to allude to the wedding day theme. From there, the escort display should be tropical, whether there are seashells holding the escort cards or palm trees lining the entry hall. The options are endless.”
We also recommend transforming your venue into a tropical paradise with lush monstera leaves, palm fronds, and bright tropical wedding flowers. Elevate your reception tables with tropical wedding centerpieces that feature everything from hot pink orchids to wicker details. Conclude the evening with a tropical wedding cake accented with coconut, pineapple, or grapefruit.
What do couples need to consider when hosting a tropical beach wedding?
Katz shares, “If you are planning to host a wedding out of the country, I suggest finding an experienced planner and venue contact to assist with every aspect of planning. Destination weddings can be full of hoops that are tricky to jump through.”
She continues, “Most islands have preferred vendors who are the experts when it comes to the food, flowers, lighting, tents, weather, etc. Utilizing these vendors will give your wedding a natural feel and help to set the tone you are trying to achieve.”
Lastly, she tells us, “We find that weather at the beach is always unpredictable, so it is nice to have vendors who understand the climate. You should also always consider what you are asking of your guests. If you are asking them to travel, it is nice to provide additional events and activities for them along with welcome gifts and beach necessities like sunblock, hats, bug spray and beach towels!”

Spring wedding colors evoke new buds, fresh greenery, and pastel landscapes. While there is much to love about spring — like increased sunshine and sweet-scented florals — we especially look forward to the beginning of the wedding season.
Spring weddings, in particular, suggest new and romantic beginnings. As the Earth awakens from its long winter slumber, our hearts yearn to reconnect with loved ones and celebrate.
At spring weddings, you can expect to see plenty of ethereal drapery, delicate greenery, and graceful floral arrangements. You’re also bound to admire a stunning spring wedding color palette.
What Are Good Colors for a Spring Wedding?
Good question. While the other three seasons boast more vibrant and dramatic colors, wedding colors for spring tend to be light, airy, and delicate. Think of whimsical pastels, soft hues, and perfectly-pale tones.
We’ve searched through thousands of weddings on PartySlate to find our six favorite spring wedding colors for a dreamy and romantic wedding celebration.
Imagine airy tenting with cascades of cornflower blue drapery. Or picture a wedding aisle laden with lavender-hued blooms like lilac or wisteria.

1. Cornflower Blue Makes Spring Wedding Colors Come True
Blue-hued flowers — like the ornamental cornflower — are few and far between. Lucky for us, we often find this gorgeous shade in spring wedding décor.
Of course, we’re not the only ones in love with cornflower blue. Renowned Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer also favored this dreamy color. Artists, after all, knows a good color when they see one.
Keep reading to see how one of our favorite spring wedding colors makes an appearance everywhere from tablescapes and floral arrangements to tenting and seating.

We like to think of a wedding reception table as a blank canvas. All it needs is an artist’s touch.
This picture-perfect tablescape draws all eyes with its brushstrokes of blue. From linen and glassware to hydrangea centerpieces and menu cards, this tablescape is the perfect tableau.
Leave the bright flamingo pinks to summer and the dark ruby hues to fall and winter. Spring is for softer and dreamier colors. Of course, that also applies to wedding colors.
It gets better. Keep reading to discover real weddings that used this gorgeous color in their wedding palette. See something you like? Don’t forget to click on the photo for a deeper look at the celebration — along with the talented event professionals that made it happen.

3. Say Goodbye to Winter With a Pale-Green Spring Wedding Color Palette
Every spring — especially here in the Midwest, where PartySlate was founded — we look forward to our emergence from the dreary days of winter. Buds appear on the bare branches and shoots of green dapple the barren fields. The hours of daylight lengthen — and life begins to stir.
Without a doubt, nothing encapsulates the hope and beauty of spring like the color pale-green. This holds true for Spring weddings, as well.
Read on to discover how pale-green sets the tone at these gorgeous spring weddings. Make sure to save your favorite photos to an Idea Slate.
Incorporate your spring wedding colors into both florals and wedding party attire. We love how this spring foliage mix, with light and dark leaves, complements the sea foam and pistachio-hued bridal party dresses.
This gorgeous ceremony setting makes us swoon. Light green seating pops against the darker greenery of the surrounding forest.
We also adore this unique take on the traditional wedding arch. A crescent moon of white wands and fresh greenery create a sense of intimacy for an exchange of vows.
Spring was in the air at this vintage and rustic-style wedding celebration. Lace linen, sage and hydrangea centerpieces, and lantern candles created the most romantic tablescapes.
Nothing says “thank you” like a chic party favor. We love how these custom-made matchbooks feel as fresh and spring-like as the lavish greenery and pale-green orchids found throughout the wedding celebration.
It’s true: The soft pastels of spring find their paragon in a light-daisy hue. Ranging from pale beige to faint gold, this cheerful color captures the return of sunny skies and lingering daylight.

The color gray may have a reputation for being somewhere in the middle — a compromise between the bolder and more dramatic hues of black and white. But for us, gray is the color of sophistication and elegance.
At PartySlate, gray makes us think of moonlit lakes, lofty mountain tops, and yes — you guessed it — one of our favorite spring wedding colors.
Here, you’ll discover modern gray wedding arbors, stylish seating charts, and lavish linen. After all, there’s something about this cool and balanced color that makes it perfect for a wedding celebration.

We confess, this corporate event is so stunning, we mistook it for a wedding at first glance. Musicians dressed in luxurious pastels serenaded guests on a manicured rooftop garden overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The whimsical hues were carried over to the tablescapes with playful floral linen and tableware that lent colorful pops of color to the scene.
Spring has awakened this garden scene with whimsical pops of color. Cheerful bouquets pair with elevated tablescapes for a stylish garden wedding that’s also playful. We especially love how blue chinaware and yellow napkins bring a hint of color to the neutral tablescapes.
This elegant spring wedding mixes whimsy and classical charm with blue delphiniums, pink and white peonies, and lush greenery. We especially love how a donut dessert wall uses colorful sprinkles to capture the same color scheme.
Soft spring florals and ice blue glassware combine to create a picture-perfect tablescape for al fresco dining. A few orange bouquet blooms vary the color theme just enough to add a whimsical look to this outdoor celebration.

What kind of entertainment should I include in my vintage wedding?
In addition to a live band or DJ, consider entertainment that will augment your wedding theme. For a 1940s theme wedding, for example, consider dressing the part and performing a first dance foxtrot. On the other hand, a more retro vintage wedding could feature a vinyl record DJ booth. Make sure to talk to your wedding planner to come up with other creative ways to incorporate entertainment into your vintage celebration.
Where can I find a venue for my vintage wedding?
