13 Ways to Wow Guests at Your Wedding or Party with 2025 Catering Trends

We at PartySlate love personal and meaningful celebrations. We spend our days oohing and aahing over special moments and creative themes — and it’s a full-time job because PartySlate.com features over 65,000 real event albums.

Seeing so many weddings, galas, birthday parties, corporate events, and more perfectly positions us to see what’s popular. Plus, we reached out to some of the top wedding and event caterers across the country to learn which new food and service trends they expect to see in 2025.

Hint: There are some fun new twists on tradition, innovative fare, and even some of last year’s trends still going strong. So, let’s raise a glass (filled with a curated mocktail) to toast to a new year of celebrating together.

1. Bring Maximalism to Every Plate

Color & Texture

In our Party and Wedding Trend predictions for 2025, we note the increase in “maximalist tabletops, blending patterns and hues with abandon.” We are delighted that the same is happening on menus as well, with plated meals that feature color and texture galore.

The accomplished team at Marcia Selden Catering & Events took inspiration from the rich art around them for the fare for this colorful opening party at The Bruce Museum. Lucky guests had every sense delighted.

Vivid Fare & Displays

This vibrant affair for event professionals from around the country was an unforgettable evening with an “electric forest” theme.

Biscuits & Berries Catering leaned into creative and colorful presentations with delicious small bites hanging in the neon trees, smoked short ribs “McBiscuit meals” served from a funky food truck, and a burrata and charred venison hanging wall. Then a roaming poke cart hit the scene, followed by a cake pop cart and a dessert claw machine (yes, you read that right).

Sans-Alcohol Cocktail Menus

The sober curious movement is still going strong and mocktails are getting more complex and curated.

Suzanne Meredith, Vice President of Sales for Laurence Craig Catering, shares, “Couples want options that are just as dynamic, beautiful, and fun without the headaches the next day. We want the guests to say ‘Ooh, no way this doesn’t have booze, it’s amazing!’”

3. Consider a Cocktail Party Reception

Skip Assigned Seats

A “cocktail party wedding reception” is a celebration where guests mingle freely around the venue, enjoying small bites (hors d’oeuvres) and drinks from a bar, rather than sitting at assigned tables for a formal meal. It creates a more relaxed and interactive atmosphere for socializing with everyone present.

Kori Carter Gillespie, Director of Brand Marketing for The Catered Affair, shares of the trend, “An evening filled with endless food, drinks, and revelry is a top priority — with party-centric weddings rising for 2025.”

4. Look to the Season for the Freshest Fare

Foraged Menus

“Foraged menus highlighting the seasonality of the area and time of year are growing in popularity. Every talented chef I have worked beside always knows to let the food speak for itself,” says Suzanne Meredith of Laurence Craig Catering

Meredith shares a quote from Chef Alice Waters (famous for her philosophy of using locally-grown organic ingredients and her advocacy of sustainable agriculture):”A good tomato is a product of the variety and where it’s grown and how it’s picked.”

Captivating Action Station

“In 2025, interactive experiences are still a top choice for our clients at events. Action stations are a big hit, providing a fun way to keep everyone engaged and entertained—like flambé stations, which let guests watch our chefs creating flaming desserts or savory dishes adding a touch of excitement! These stations become like mini events within the greater event,” shares Julie Walter of Paramount Events.

No Toothpicks Necessary

“We’re noticing that food ingredients are serving multiple purposes beyond just being consumed,” says Julie Walter of Paramount Events.

“For example, we love using extra ingredients as food station décor to highlight menu ingredients, but also as creative ways to decorating passing trays such as using the stem of a pineapple as a garnish for a beach-themed soiree or tying an hors d’oeuvre with scallions instead of a toothpick.”

Eco-Conscious Menus

Rachel Heuermann, Director of Full-Service Catering with Paramount Events, says, “Sustainability is becoming more important for couples planning their big day. They want their values reflected in their events, which is why they enjoy working with us. We offer on-site composting and food donation. We help them share their efforts with guests—like highlighting local farms for ingredients or letting everyone know that leftover food will be donated to nonprofits. Couples love showing how their celebrations can make a positive impact.

“Looking ahead to 2025, it’s exciting to see that some trends from 2024 are sticking around—especially sustainability! It’s great to see more clients becoming environmentally conscious and wanting eco-friendly options.”

Food Rescue

“Sustainability is a growing priority for clients, leading to increased demand for green practices, such as sourcing local ingredients and reducing food waste. At M Culinary, we’re actively addressing this by partnering with Waste Not, a nonprofit food rescue organization. We collect leftover, unserved food post-event, and Waste Not distributes it to shelters helping those facing food insecurity. In 2024, we’re on track to rescue over 50,000 pounds of food, which equates to feeding more than 75,000 Arizonans,” says Michael Stavros, VP of Business Development with M Culinary Concepts.

As people become more eager to explore global flavors, fusion cuisine offers a way to connect different cultures and create memorable dining experiences!” shares Madhoo Seth, Chef and Owner of Italic Catering.

“For those who have traveled or dream of traveling, food is often tied to personal memories and emotions, and fusion dishes allow guests to revisit or discover new cultural connections, all while enjoying the communal aspect of shared plates! Stavros with M Culinary Concepts, says, “In the Southwest, there is a noticeable trend toward incorporating indigenous and heritage ingredients. Heirloom grains, squashes, and root vegetables are gaining popularity as clients look for authentic regional flavors.

“Locally-inspired dishes, such as those made with masa, gourds, fry bread, chile-based sauces, and smoked meats, are trending as guests seek more culturally significant and locally sourced meals.”

11. Marry Your Service to Your Vision

Family-Style

There are many ways to serve meals en masse at events, from buffets to fully-plated dishes, but none are as warm or evoke togetherness like family-style service.

Peppers Artful Events shows that beautiful and creative plating still has a place on passed-dish tabletops at this whimsical wedding.

18 Fundraising Gala Trends: Delight Guests & Raise More Funds

Galas are important for many reasons — the primary of which is to raise funds for important nonprofit initiatives. Other perks include building relationships with supporters, generating publicity and awareness, showcasing impact, creating an opportunity for networking and collaboration, and, of course, celebrating together.

After a pandemic-induced hiatus, galas are back in a big way. Steve Paster, President of New York’s iconic Alpine Creative Group, shares, “This is the first time in three years that galas are moving forward. 90% of all donations for nonprofits come through galas, so everyone that we work with is making a major push.”

Artemis Koutsogiorgas, Content Marketing Manager of Chicago’s highly-respected KEHOE DESIGNS, adds, “Many organizations are gathering in person for their annual fundraising galas for the first time in over two years. Their attendees are excited to be together again and ready to raise their paddles to support these organizations. We have seen an increase in attendance and guest engagement as clients want to create an impressionable evening that lifts guests up.”

We spoke to event industry experts to discover the fundraising gala trends that are creating more successful (and fun) events. Read on elevate your gala.

Want to get inspired? Don’t miss this incredible museum gala transformation by Tyger Productions at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston.

1. A Curated Playlist Builds Buzz in Advance

Ty Kuppig, Founder & Creative Director of Tyger Productions, shares that custom playlists are a gala trend he is spotting — and creating. He says, “Our goal is to build buzz and anticipation for our clients’ galas.  A great way to do this is by creating a custom playlist and sending a link or sharing a QR code the week leading up to the event.  This gets guests into the spirit of support, and many have commented on how they were “blasting” the music while dressing for the evening at home.”

2. Elaborate Invitations Tie to Theme & Palette

Steve Paster of Alpine Creative Group shares, “The trend that we are seeing this fall and for this coming winter is that everything is getting elaborate again — elevated invites and décor, with prominent entertainment names and large guest lists.”

photographer: Jaclyn Simpson Photography | design & décor: KEHOE DESIGNS | venue: The Geraghty | technical production: BlackOak Technical Productions

Brand invitations to match gala theme…

Artemis Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS says that their team is seeing, “invitation design that is branded to match the gala’s theme and applied to the organization’s website, social media, signage, and sponsorship materials. We are seeing our clients work with more planners than before who have a heavy hand in the invitations and program. The color palette of the organization’s materials is then seen throughout the event.”

She adds, “Uniting Voices Chicago Gala featured a bright palette of periwinkles, lavenders, and white. A stark, clean stage cover of white was deliberately chosen to best frame the evening’s performances and program.”

3. New & Hot Venues Entice Attendance

Lure attendees with a cool space…

AJ Williams, Founder + Creative Director of AJ Events, says, “Nonprofits need every advantage to lure attendees to their events, so a new and popular venue is a great option.”

For the Tee Up Diversity Gala, her team combined the opportunity to access world-class golf at the 122nd U.S. Open Championship with an exciting inaugural event featuring Anthony Anderson, Chris Spencer, and Damon Hack. AJ Events chose The Newbury Boston, an iconic space, for their history-making gathering.

4. Open Space Venues Allow for Flexibility

Make room for more guests with a large space…

Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS says, “Clients are looking for venues with open space to accommodate larger guest counts and flexibility in setup and orientation.”

KEHOE’s own space, The Geraghty, has hosted many fundraising events (including the pictured Chicago Children’s Choir Gala). Koutsogiorgas shares, “The venue offers a sophisticated and utterly customizable setting with state-of-the-art technology and endless design possibilities with our built-in teams at KEHOE and BlackOak Technical Productions. Our clients have experienced record attendance and dollars raised. The seamless client experience has resulted in a 90% return rate, and we can transform the space into something different year after year.”

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan offers multiple spaces for memorable galas. The venue celebrated its renovated David Geffen Hall with the New York Philharmonic Gala. Guests mingled beneath a spectacular red petaled ceiling installation amid lush red rose décor. Live speakers and creative performances made the evening one to remember.

5. Theater-Style Seating Creates Visibility

photographer: Michael Blanchard | venue: Four Seasons Hotel Boston | rentals: PEAK Event Services

Create energy with intimate auction…

Williams of AJ Events says, “We are executing more theater style programs for a more intimate auction, and chevron style seating with clear aisles for spotters.”

Her team’s work on the Living Legends Gala attracted widespread attention and support for the Museum of African American History — efforts that contributed to raising a record-breaking [close to] $500,000. Guests enjoyed African instruments, a wine reception, a live auction, a dinner reception featuring Afro-Caribbean cuisine, and engaging entertainment.

6. Mission-Centered Themes & Experiences Resonate

Uniting Voices Chicago 2022 Gala
photographer: Jaclyn Simpson Photography | design & décor: KEHOE DESIGNS | venue: The Geraghty | technical production: BlackOak Technical Productions

Allow the mission to guide the entire event…

Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS says, “Further looking at the Uniting Voices Chicago Gala, the overall concept the client brought to our team was that of ascension: the act of rising to an important position or a higher level.

“This guiding focus was relayed in nearly every aspect of the event, from LED elements and color palette to materials, lighting design, and programming. Dining tables were adorned with rich, vibrant purple-hued linen with sheen and texture topped with fresh florals of hydrangea and calla lilies in soft hues.”

photographer: Michael Blanchard | event planner: AJ Events | venue: Four Seasons Hotel Boston | rentals: PEAK Event Services

Send a message with cause-related experiences…

Williams of AJ Events shares, “We created a museum cause-related experience: to provide sponsorship opportunities for an experience or component like entertainment, main stage, celebrity host, after-party, or cocktail reception.” Such sponsorships allow an additional valuable fundraising opportunity that is directly related to the cause.

At The Living Legends Gala, “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson had the audience laughing as he took selfies with attendees shaking their African instruments. About 350 sponsors and supporters attended the gala which featured a wine reception, live auction, and a dinner reception featuring Afro-Caribbean cuisine and live entertainment.

7. Bold & Colorful Designs Delight

Make a bold statement…

50 Years Gala

Write a unique color story…

This inspired gala, celebrating 50 Years of Black Creativity, infused the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago with a vivid palette that underscored the art on display. The event honored the museum’s Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition, which is the longest continuously running showcase of African American art in the United States.

Revel Decor took their cue from the many installations and created colorful tableaus — in bright greens, vibrant oranges, and splashes of red and yellow — that offered beauty and education at once.

8. Varied Order of Events Offers Surprise

Jodi Wolf, CEO of Paulette Wolf Events & Entertainment, Inc. (PWE), shares that, “Galas are trending towards a less traditional format.”

Shimmering Purple Party at Boston Center For The Arts
photographer: Natasha Moustache | planner, design, décor & floral: TYGER Productions | venue: Boston Center For The Arts | caterer: Gourmet Caterers

Create space for new connections…

Kuppig of Tyger Productions says, “Post-Covid, all rules are out the door. For the PERT Consortium’s Inaugural Gala, we invited guests to the dance floor before sitting for dinner, again between courses, and after the meal. The energy stayed high all night like a modern supper club!”

He notes of another gala, the Shimmering Purple Party pictured, “There is a noticeable shift in the gala experience and the formatting of the events. We are encouraging many of our clients to explore more open-concept cocktail formats in lieu of traditional seated dinners. Length of programs are also slimming down, allowing guests to mingle and enjoy the experience of the evening more while still receiving key content.”

9. Experiential Elements Capture Guests’ Attention

David Calzaretta, President of Magnificent Events & Entertainment, says,Overall, I am seeing a move towards more programming for shorter attention spans with more experiential moments. There is a pressing need for things to be more compelling so people stay present and don’t get lost in their own iOS devices.

“With events flooding back in after two years of dormancy, producers are finding it critical to differentiate their event from others, which requires a ton of creativity and thinking outside the box. This is especially critical in the gala market where NFPs are competing for donor support. People are willing to be charitable, but they want to walk away with an experience and not just a cookie-cutter event.”

Engage guests with each element…

Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS tells us, “There has been an emphasis on vibrant, energetic experiences for guests attending fundraising galas. This is accomplished through inspiring programs and performances, illuminated décor, bright color palettes, lively lighting design, surprising after-parties, interactive photo-ops, etc.

“Galas are striving to create interactive and engaging experiences to further strengthen and reinforce their attendees’ connection to the mission and vision of the organization. Recently, at the Uniting Voices Chicago Gala, the children in the choir greeted guests in the foyer, in addition to putting on a heart-felt immersive show, which was a primary reason they surpassed their fundraising goal of over $2 million.”

The Nature Conservancy Gala from the expert planning team at Paulette Wolf Events featured extraordinary engaging moments galore — all inspired by nature.

More than 400 guests gathered to interact with stations to learn about climate change, pollution, and more. PWE curated unique elements such as vines and trees on stilts, and a mirrored projected ceiling which created an immersive ambiance.

10. Thoughtful Audio & Lighting Design Elevates the Experience

Uniting Voices Chicago 2022 Gala
photographer: Jaclyn Simpson Photography | design & décor: KEHOE DESIGNS | venue: The Geraghty | technical production: BlackOak Technical Productions

Prioritize the audio-visual experience…

Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS shares, “For the Uniting Voices Chicago Gala, every seat in the house needed to have a well-balanced audio experience. We focused on building an audio system that originated from the center of the room and radiated out while also trying to eliminate as much reverberation as possible. We also provided a multi-track record to give Uniting Voices as much flexibility as possible for editing the footage for post-event coverage.

“The theme this year was ‘Ascension and Heaven.’ We embodied this by adding multiple stage heights, rings of light, bright lit-up runway stage, and other circular airborne lighting fixtures. A masterful sequenced program of lighting design highlighted the evening’s programs and perfectly coincided with key moments in the show. Uplighting in bright hues of purples, blues, and pinks provided an overall vibrancy throughout the room. An illuminated lucite runway stage created a focal décor moment to feature the evening’s entertainment.”

Create mood with lighting…

The True Blue Gala held at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago benefitted the Chicago Police Foundation which provides funding for equipment, technology and community outreach programs for the Chicago Police Department.

Appropriately, the affair was drenched in chic blue lighting by the talented team at . Guests were also surrounded by a sea of stars that evoked Chicago’s iconic starred flag and the city’s police badge shape. The lighting tied back to the theme of the evening.

11. Larger Audience Reached Via Pro A/V Live Streaming

Stream your event — but make it professional…

Hybrid events are continuing to allow nonprofit organizations to reach a larger audience. Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS says, “From a technical aspect, lighting and AV have taken center stage as the world embraces hybrid style events. Providing a live stream of the program to a virtual audience allows the organization’s messaging and purpose to reach further. ”

Bottom Line’s Rise Up Gala supports degree-aspiring students of color from under-resourced communities to get into, and through, college to successfully launch a career. BlackOak Technical Productions produced a historical shift for this client: converting their gala to a hybrid platform. The talk-show format engaged all attendees. The event included a live panel, award ceremony, and pre-recorded video. Virtual attendees viewed the night with a custom branded platform and website.

12. Varied Entertainment Keeps it Fresh

“We see many integrated activities for guests to watch and enjoy from start to finish. Various musical performances are the new norm. We will see a string quartet during cocktail hour, for example, a full band during the reception, and a DJ for the after-party,” says Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS.

She continues. “Dancers and artists are incorporated throughout the event timeline to make a lasting impact on guests. We recently had an event with different stations for guests to observe — including a ceramics artist and violinist duo that performed together.”

photographer: KingenSmith | venue: Moonlight Studios | entertainment: The Actors Gymnasium

Think beyond the band…

Kasey Foster, Events Manager for The Actors Gymnasium, says, “Roaming entertainment is a great way for to guests to interact with performance and circus artists without having to stop the momentum of the event.” The team also offers “party starters” — a collection of dancers who quickly fill the dance floor with guests.

At Chicago’s Embarc’s Variety Spectacular, The Actors Gymnasium provided creative roaming entertainment to raise funds to reach public school youth across Chicago. Guests enjoyed drinks served from a wine bicycle, jugglers, a rolling globe walker, and some lively aerial acrobatics that made for an unforgettable night.

13. Adding a Star Performer Is Easier Than Ever

Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events & Entertainment, Inc. points out that a star performance offers perks in addition to entertaining guests: “Name talent is another way to draw new guests to your event.”

Arizona Launch Party
photographer: Alexxis K Grant | venue: Warehouse215 at Bentley Projects | entertainment: Maggie Speaks

Focus on greatest hits…

Calzaretta of Magnificent Events & Entertainment says, “Our band Maggie Speaks has developed a ‘Celebrity Sit-In Program’ which has been a huge hit at galas and fundraisers. Ever since streaming services like Spotify and Pandora came into play, national artists are not making their money through royalties like they used to.

“That has caused celebrity talent live performance costs to go through the roof. Maggie Speaks has built a roster of celebrities that will join the band for a 30-minute block of their greatest hits. This has been incredibly successful at galas because the celebrity appearance is designed for the short attention span, where they play only their hit songs backed by Maggie Speaks with no filler material. Then Maggie Speaks carries the rest of the night so the gala does not have to sacrifice the variety that they normally bring to an event. In the end, you get the celebrity element in an intimate setting at a fraction of the cost without sacrificing the variety that will keep the party hopping.”

The pictured Warehouse215 opening event featured Jason Scheff, longtime bassist and lead vocalist of band Chicago, Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, and more.

Stars draw a crowd…

A star-studded event will draw more notice — from creating a buzz among guests to garnering additional press attention. Alpine Creative Group ensured that there were branded photo backdrops for the most recent American Ballet Theatre (ABT) gala. Curated photo spots extend the reach of a fundraising event with celebrities in the media and guest posts.

ABT’s annual gala was an evening that honored champions of the arts and featured  the New York Premiere of Tony Award®-winner Christopher Wheeldon’s Like Water for Chocolate. The gala raised funds for the Company, as well as ABT’s education and outreach programs.

14. Celeb Chefs & Engaging Stations Make Meals Memorable

Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS says, “One of the many trends we’ve noticed is extending the reception beyond the traditional one-hour window. We’ve also seen events change from a typical seated dinner to more interactive environments, such as food stations and passed hors d’oeuvres or a cocktail reception and plated dessert with a quick 25–35-minute program.

Chef-driven events are always hot and attract a savvy crowd. Unique hors d’oeuvres presentations, interactive displays, and custom cocktails are here to stay, along with extending the reception time or hosting an afterparty. ”

Wow unique, delectable displays…

Danielle DiTomasso Grenier, Associate Manager of Sales, Marketing & Communication for renowned caterer Thomas Preti Events to Savor, shares, “There’s no denying that experiential food presentations can truly elevate a guest’s experience. The benefits of ‘Instagramable’ moments are huge. Some examples include our new ‘Sip & Bite 360-degree Spinning Wall,’ our ‘Lucite Cubby Walls,’ and ‘Entertaining Bartenders’ serving smoking, glowing, and sparkling cocktails — more than entertaining tastebuds.”

At the Winter Wonderland Gala benefitting National Jewish Health, Preti’s talented team offered creative seasonal cocktails paired with unique presentations of fare like lobster ceviche and strawberry habanero scallop aquachile.

Engage celebrity chef followers…

Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events & Entertainment, Inc. says that they are seeing successful guest engagement with, “more unique presentations using celebrity chef or restaurant stations.”

For the Nature Conservancy Gala planned by their talented team, they curated a selection of stations for guests to take a closer look at what the organization was raising money for — and enjoy different food stations along the way from iconic local Chicago restaurants.

Offer composed bites that delight…

Kuppig of Tyger Productions says, “Our favorite new approach in catering is chef tasting plates for cocktail-style galas. In this format, beautifully composed mini plates are passed or presented in a stationary display, allowing guests to graze and explore options in a free form way.”

At the pictured wedding celebration, Tyger’s team offered four separate areas across the sprawling property, each activated with bespoke food, beverage, and entertainment, for a roaming affair with a new experience around every corner.

15. Global Menus Get Guests Talking

Expand your palette…

DiTomasso Grenier of Thomas Preti Events to Savor shares, “70% of our clients want global cuisine offered at their receptions. ‘Street food’ remains very popular because it is authentic, flavorful, and meets the ever-growing demand for global fare. Our Culinary Concept Chef, Peter Bonizio, tracks down the latest cuisines that are trending and develops new food stations. Street food is typically something that’s quick to serve, easy to consume standing, and usually features big bold flavors. All this is especially relevant at galas that are ‘standing receptions’. We love using our locally available ingredients to create these incredible dishes from around the world.”

The team curated creative fare for five different global pavilions, notably this “Moroccan Spice Market” experience. Cones of spices, kebabs, curries, cinnamon sticks, and more, wowed guests.

16. Sustainability Adds Additional Layer of Consideration

Gala in the Garden in Miami, Florida

Do (doubly) good with

Jim Mozina, Owner & Chief Operating Officer of top catering firm Le Basque, says, “Le Basque has been designing notable events that are cost effective while drawing in the donors without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars in florals and other single-use décor…we often design with live plants and later gift to a botanical garden, while fruits and vegetables used as décor are donated after the event to a local food shelter.

“By focusing on statement elements that define the event, and presenting these in grand, unexpected, or iconic designs, we are often able to use humble materials to great impact or re-use materials in surprising ways.”

The team catered, designed, and produced this gorgeous Gala in the Garden. From oversized pink Chippendale planters with banana plants and ferns to bamboo leaves, fresh green moss, and tall faux palm trees, the team found creative ways to curate sustainable décor.

DiTomasso Grenier of Thomas Preti Events to Savor says, “2023 events will promote sustainability. In anticipation of that, in the summer of 2022, we kicked off our ‘Plastic Pledge’ to become the first Certified Plastic Neutral Caterer in our market. To get there, we partnered with CleanHub to offset our plastic usage by funding the removal of un-recycled plastic pollution from our oceans.

“Additionally we’ve partnered with the Billion Oyster Project who is restoring oyster reefs to New York Harbor in collaboration with New York City communities. By donating our used oyster shells, we are actively engaged in the restorative aquaculture.”

17. Multiple Bid Formats Increase Giving Flexibility & Results

Koutsogiorgas of KEHOE DESIGNS says, “Mobile apps and digital donations are the new norm for 2023 fundraising trends as flexible giving and participation options simplify the donation process.

“A fundraising idea that was successful recently and that we have replicated for events is: offering a raffle credit for three chances to win $1,000 credit or more, pending event demographics, to use towards the auction. Note only do we raise more dollars during the auction, the raffle pays for itself.”

photographer: Michael Blanchard | event planner: AJ Events | florals: Forevermark Flowers | venue: The Newbury Boston | rentals: PEAK Event Services

AJ Williams of AJ Events, shares, “We are noticing that even though, due to COVID, events were online and platforms were crucial to fundraising success for the auction, attendees prefer manual paddle cards.”

AJ Events produced a unique School the World Gala to support the international nonprofit in its effort to solve extreme poverty through the power of education.

Williams says, “We planned a passion-filled event with an interactive arrival museum-like experience that took guests on a journey.” That exploration allowed guests to feel the two-hour journey of a child in Guatemala getting to school versus a U.S. child’s seven minute commute. Williams adds, “The interactive component proved successful with night-of fundraising.”

photo courtesy of & event planner: Paulette Wolf Events | venue: Morgan Manufacturing

Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events says, “Fundraising efforts have become more digital, so you can raise dollars from beyond the attendee.”

For example, PWE donated its services to 7th Annual Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation’s Cook-Off For Cancer Event — which raises money for cancer research and provides support to children and their families battling the disease. The planning team leveraged relationships with restaurant partners, vendors, and more to minimize event costs. Between corporate sponsorship and silent and live auctions, the event raised $1.8 million.

18. Galas Become More Financially-Conscious

Jim Mozina of Le Basque says, “What we are expressing here is not really a trend, but a conscious evolution and adaptation to the fundamental goals of a fundraising gala. With good financial governance comes the need to analyze how a fundraising event spends money in order to raise further funds. The goal should be that as much money as possible winds up in the hands of the intended beneficiary. Caterers, event designers, and production teams often see gala budgets flatlining despite rising costs of goods and labor. The creative process is key in facing the challenge of designing an event that is impactful enough to create attendance for future years while remaining budget conscious to satisfy the protocols of effective fundraising.

Building an ephemeral, magical creation for one night isn’t the hard part. Doing so while respecting tight budgetary limits is where the real magic happens.

People Also Ask…

Where should I start when planning a gala?

We always recommend starting any major event with selecting a skilled planner — and when it comes to galas that’s doubly true. Ideally, you’ll want to choose an event planner who has experience in producing nonprofit galas as they will have gained the know-how to ensure that you meet (and exceed) your fundraising goals. You can start with one of the gala planners in our panel or use PartySlate’s curated event planner directory — which you can filter by location, event type, and more.

Your planner will then assist you in everything from choosing the perfect venue to curating an engaging menu and entertainment.

How do you raise money at a gala?

There are many ways to engage donors and raise all-important funds for your charitable programs. In addition to the ideas above that will engage guests through décor, education, entertainment, and catering, you’ll want to carefully choose the best methods for your gala donations. Below are some ideas and tips; we suggest combining several methods.

Live Auction: You can host a live auction at the event and auction off unique items or experiences. Items like travel packages, concert tickets, or celebrity meet-and-greets can be popular auction items.

Silent Auction: A silent auction can allow guests to bid on items without the pressure of a live auction. You can display items on tables with bidding sheets and guests can write down their bids. Be sure to set minimum bid increments and end times for the auction.

Fund-a-Need: You can create a Fund-a-Need program where you ask guests to donate money to a specific cause or project. This can be done through an on-stage appeal or by distributing pledge cards to guests.

Raffle: You can hold a raffle with donated prizes. Raffle tickets can be sold in advance or at the event, and the drawing can be held at the gala.

Games and Activities: You can create games or activities that guests can participate in for a donation. For example, you could set up a photo booth and ask guests to make a donation to take a photo.

Sponsorship: You can offer sponsorship opportunities to businesses or individuals who want to support the charity. Sponsorship can include recognition at the event or in promotional materials.

Ticket Sales: Sell tickets to the gala and use the proceeds to support the charity. Encourage attendees to purchase more than one ticket and invite their friends and family to attend.

Regardless of how you choose to raise funds at your event, be sure to communicate the impact of the donations and the specific project or cause that the money will be supporting. It’s important to make guests feel connected to the charity and motivated to give.

The Best Wedding Centerpieces [Guide]

Wedding centerpieces transcend the role of simple table decorations. Indeed, they set the mood and tone of your wedding reception. Centerpieces evoke everything from your wedding style to your wedding color palette — taking your celebratory vision from dream to reality.

Arguably, guests will spend most of the reception dining and dancing. With that in mind, it’s important to create an inviting space that encourages friends and family to linger over a delicious meal and indulge in conversation.

Save countless hours scrolling through Pinterest. PartySlate is here to offer inspiration and guidance — with an up-close look at some of our favorite tablescape ideas to inspire your own nuptials. Best of all, our curated directories will point you to top local vendors that can bring your vision to life. It’s time to get inspired.

How to Choose Wedding Centerpieces

Choosing a centerpiece may feel overwhelming. Luckily, PartySlate can guide you through every step of the process.

To begin with, it’s important to decide on the theme and style of your wedding. Similarly, you will want to select your wedding colors

Think about it: A boho-themed wedding is more likely to feature pastel-hued pampas grass or macrame lace than single-stem calla lilies on modern tablescapes. On the other hand, a lavish ballroom wedding will probably feature elegant candlelight or opulent floral centerpieces as opposed to rustic lantern décor and wildflowers.

Once you’ve settled on the style of your wedding, you’ll want to consider your wedding date. Flowers vary in availability from season to season. For couples looking to wow without flowers, check out A Wedding Without Flowers? 17 Stunning Ways to Make it Possible.

Now the fun part begins. Keep scrolling to find informative and inspiring articles on various wedding centerpieces. Here, you’ll find everything from seasonal tablescapes to centerpieces inspired by specific wedding styles.

While there is no right or wrong way to have a wedding reception, we highly recommend hiring a design and floral team to create gorgeous wedding centerpieces and table décor that capture the spirit, style, and theme of your wedding celebration.

As discussed above, decorating your wedding reception tables creates a beautiful dining experience for your guests. Centerpieces also connect to the larger celebration through similar décor and design motifs.

Additionally, wedding table decorations result in beautiful photographs. Most likely, you’ll want shots of each table group. Wedding centerpieces will transform an ordinary photo of people into a treasured (and gorgeous) keepsake.

Should I DIY My Wedding Flowers?

With that in mind, we highly recommend hiring a wedding design and floral team to create your centerpieces.

When it comes to your little one’s birthday party, it can be hard to dream up a creative party theme that keeps up with their big imaginations. That’s why the PartySlate team rounded up 10 completely unique kids’ party theme ideas that will help you host a memorable 2025 celebration — and stand out from the rest.

Keep scrolling to see a clever take on a Harry Potter party, a Wild West theme like you’ve never seen before, and the nautical inspiration every summer birthday boy or girl would swoon over. Plus, tap into each event to see more photos and discover the very vendors and venues that brought them to life.

Thanks to TikTok and Instagram, coquette style — a blend of vintage and romantic flair — has surged in popularity. This kid’s party took the feminine aesthetic and paired it with the birthday girl’s favorite movie: Harry Potter. The outcome? An incredibly unique and reimagined version of a classic kids party theme, featuring owl-topped Lambeth cakes, pink bow-wearing toads, and blushing London telephone booths.

“A trip around the sun” is a birthday party theme as cheery as it sounds. Each detail of this party shined bright, from the yellow palette to a sun-shaped balloon entrance, woven rays backdrop, and saturated, picnic-inspired tables. We love how this special celebration added bohemian elements to the design, from rope vases to wood chargers — but the theme itself can truly pair with any family’s distinct style.

It’s no surprise mini Swifties are opting for Taylor Swift-themed parties, and this 5th birthday left no blank space. Each corner of the party was dedicated to one of Taylor’s 11 albums — from a purple Speak Now piano corner to a Midnights ball pit, Fearless guitar stage, and a Lover dessert bar. Creativity is Taylor’s specialty — and an absolute must when it comes to a Taylor Swift-themed party.

A whole new world — in your backyard. This birthday party transformed a lucky 8-year-old’s home into a video game-inspired world made up of Minecraft-influenced blocks and décor. Replicating the game’s different features, the party boasted a “survival mode” photo op, “adventure mode” bounce house, and “creative mode” crafts. Parents stayed in “spectator mode,” of course, enjoying freshly catered pasta salad, fruit bowls, and more.

Wild West moments are going coast-to-coast in 2025 — and this 4th birthday party proves why. Succulent centerpieces, desert-inspired place settings, and a mirage of suspended cowgirl hats impressed even the adult guests in attendance. While kids enjoyed cactus cupcakes and cotton candy animals, parents sipped on monogrammed lattes and cowboy boot-adorned cocktails. It’s safe to say this kids’ party theme is anything but dry for all ages.

This kid’s party theme is our jam. The “berry first” birthday left a sweet impression from its strawberry colander towers, berry-colored floral baskets, and fruit-frosted cakes. Parents had their choice of fresh berry-infused cocktails, including spiked strawberry lemonades and strawberry mojitos (yes, please), while their little ones played blissfully with berry blocks and a berry-hued ball pit. We can’t get enough of this fruitful kids party inspiration.

Add lobster bake to the list of clever kids’ party themes you’ve never seen before — but would love to take a crack at. This summer birthday brought a backyard beach club lobster bake to life with custom lounge chairs, towels, pool floats, and more. As for the tables, playful lobster “claws” accentuated centerpieces alongside fishernet runners and nautical rope vases. The parents’ menu included lobster, of course, along with fresh oysters and coconut cocktails.

Fancy Nancy is all about a girl who has extravagant taste, a sophisticated vocabulary, and a love for lavish tea parties. Needless to say, a Fancy Nancy-themed birthday party is feminine, fabulous, and floral-filled. This themed birthday was just that, featuring an accessory wall for young guests to dress to the nines (think hot pink feather boas, butterfly wings, tiaras, and plastic kitten heels). Kid-friendly china, intricate linen, and pastel floral centerpieces created a stunning tea party for the birthday girl and her friends to sip and savor.

This is Halloween — for October birthdays. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas inspired this 2nd birthday party, with a black and white palette and details that would make Jack Skellington proud. Spooky style never looked so good, with black marble tables, smokey ghost chairs, matte black balloons, and perfectly drawn up backdrops. We are particularly infatuated with the ghost-shaped cotton candy station and main character pop tarts.

Bring your little one’s favorite fictional town to life with a Ponyville-themed birthday party. This magical celebration looked straight out of a cheerful coloring book — from the saturated backdrops all the way down to the pastel burger buns. Little ones meandered from a “sugarcube corner” filled with cake to a rainbow bounce house, paint-your-own-trophy table, air brush truck, “pretty pony” parlor, and more. We give this celebration first place for creativity.

Yeah baby. The concept of an Austin Powers-themed party may not be new, but this corporate event gave it a unique and imaginative perspective. The party’s innovative moments included an Austin Powers monument, King’s Guard photo ops, and groovy décor moments that transported guests back to the 60s. Not to mention, the clever menu names and serverware guests uncovered across the occasion.

Event inspiration — and lunch — is served. This deli-themed Bar Mitzvah put cozy cuisine at the forefront with delicatessen-inspired centerpieces, a take-out counter stocked with merch, and street view entrance-inspired stage. On the menu were classic deli dishes from pastrami sandwiches to New York famous black and white cookies, of course.

This Glamorous 'Meet Me at Midnight' Bat Mitzvah Roars to Life at The Sacred Space Miami

Meet us at this Midnight-themed Bat Mitzvah party. The Miami celebration took Taylor Swift’s second latest album and made it an entire event design. The album cover’s signature deep blue hues encapsulated every inch of the outdoor venue, from shades of blue sparkling off of mirrored furniture to neon ropes lighting up palm tree trunks. And we have to sing the praises of the midnight blue Shake Shack burger stand.

Bring the desert to you. This 60th birthday created a private “music festival” for friends and family thanks to an epic beach setup. The party décor was anything but dry, with luxe lounges built into the sand, an intricate laser cut DJ booth backdrop, a “main stage” inspired bar, and elaborate sea creature-inspired sand castles framing the scene.

Welcome to the future. It’s no secret AI has taken over. From professional to personal use cases, it seems everyone is getting on board with systems that will do the work for you. Rather than fight the change, this Bar Mitzvah celebrated it. The party infused artificial technology-inspired prints and details into its design. Then took it one step further by incorporating actual AI into the party space via large-scale screens and projections that ran throughout the night.

Casablanca Themed Party with Giant Custom Chandelier Cake Table

Welcome to 1942. Guests stepped out of Los Angeles and into Rick’s Café Américain at this Casablanca-themed birthday. The event design evoked nostalgic glamour and romance with velvet red draping, antique props, a 250 pound bronze orb, and tropical projection lighting that covered the venue from floor to ceiling, and  As for the guest of honor? Here’s looking at you, kid.

The Irish countryside never looked better (even from Orlando). This birthday party was all about celebrating the guest of honor’s Irish heritage — and we love this theme idea for absolutely any culture. A few of our favorite moments include the floral sheep (yes, really) that popped up across the venue, and micro oak kegs that served as the perfect guest place cards. Not to mention, the monogrammed “pub” that celebrated the birthday boy — and offered guests endless spirits out of Ireland all night long. Now we understand why they call it the luck of the Irish.

Paint the town — whatever color you want. A fun-loving expression turned into a food-focused party theme at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Paint chips and color swatches lined catering stations, while apps were passed atop splattered serveware and next to colored paint cans. Waiters and waitresses wore paint splashed aprons and berets as guests dressed to impress in outfits inspired by their favorite art pieces. The best part? Each menu item was a work of art in itself, from artful hors’devours to painted macarons.

This one’s for the millennials. Take guests back to your favorite decade like this 2000s-themed birthday party. Guests arrived in their best bedazzled jeans and butterfly clips to find retro lockers, electric purple fringe, and neon pink furniture. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think we walked into Lizzie McGuire’s closet.

Take your garden party to the next level with an in-season veggie or fruit theme. That’s right, this summer dinner party was inspired solely by the host’s love of tomatoes. From vines of grape tomatoes dressing the bar to bowls of roma and cherry tomatoes on tabletops, guests were treated to the freshest of dinner designs — and menus. Dishes were infused with juicy tomatoes, of course, while the menu itself was scribed in a sundrenched tomato hue. All to say, we’re planting the seed for more produce-themed dinner parties this year.

photographers: Anna Anikina Photography & Dina Douglass | planner: Aliana Events | design & décor: Celio’s Design | venue: The Beverly Hills Hotel

A good party is often defined by its entertainment — and there’s nothing quite as entertaining as a Cirque du Soleil performance. Turn that into a theme and you’ve got an equally unique and epic event. This Bat Mitzvah evoked all the senses with immersive designs, photo ops, performances, and more. In true Cirque style, guests stepped right up to an imaginative circus, far from the traditional carnivals of the past. We would buy an entry ticket now if we could.

photographer: Caitlyn Guarano Photography | planner: Mostest | design & décor: Birch Event Design | venue: The Bowery Hotel

XOXO. Any Gossip Girl fan remembers the iconic masquerade ball episode — and this 21st birthday party made an entire party theme out of it. Decadent draping, a wall of chic eye masks, dripping hydrangea arrangements, and plenty of flickering candles set the scene for a moody, Manhattan-inspired night. Trust us, a unique party theme like this will appease even the pickiest of Upper East Siders.

Salvador Dalí-Inspired 60th Birthday, Featured on BizBash
photographer: Yvette Roman Photography | design & décor: Revelry Event Designers, Celio’s Design, Marc Friedland Couture Communications | lighting: Images By Lighting

Salvador Dali’s imaginative and bizarre artwork came to life at this 60th birthday dinner. A theme so funky, fresh, and clever we can’t believe we didn’t think of it ourselves. The dreamscape setting came to life with floral-bound frames quite literally framing tables, making the dinner itself a work of art. Funky furniture, place settings, and neon backdrops completed the eccentric celebration.

Who doesn’t love snack time? When this Bar Mitzvah planner asked the guest of honor what he likes as they brainstormed a party theme, he replied snacks — and the rest was history. The bodega-inspired celebration featured shelves of pantry items, a snack bar (of course), and passed apps including Ramen noodle cups and bags of french fries. Custom monogrammed boxes of cereal, cookies, crackers, and more propped photo ops and backed bars. Was this the best Bar Mitzvah menu ever? We imagine young guests thought so.

Are you ready for it? For Abby and Phil’s wedding welcome party, they greeted guests to their very own “eras tour” — symbolizing notable milestones and stages from their own love story. The experiential party theme took guests through time with cocktails and beverages, including a “freshman year” corner with red solo cup cocktails. To take the theme a step further, guests found themselves with backstage passes and personalized tour merchandise. We imagine this party theme will be remembered All Too Well.

photographer: Bethany Paige Photography | design & floral: Revelry Event Designers, Butterfly Floral & Event Design, Mindy Weiss Party Consultants | lighting: Images By Lighting

From Dior to diapers, this expecting mom did not hold back when it came to an all-encompassing baby shower theme. The designer theme design was all in the details, from a “Parfumerie” to a “Fleurs” bar, and a pink-draped tent that set the scene. Not to mention, every element was covered in the party’s signature blush pattern — lamp shades, menus, charger plates — you name it, this team thought of it. Our favorite part might have to be the passed pink mocktails, or maybe the designer pink chocolate covered strawberries.

“The team. The team. The team.” That may be Michigan football’s motto, but it’s also the secret to the perfect themed party. Having an incredible vendor team behind you is the difference between a memorable party and an underwhelming event. This Michigan football-themed Bar Mitzvah was perfectly executed, from mini helmet and foam finger-lined tablescapes to catering moments decked out in the school’s symbolic Maize and Blue hues. When it comes to a creative party theme, leveraging your favorite team is always a win.

Palm Beach inspiration was all the rage last year thanks to Kristin Wig’s iconic performance in Palm Royale. And with season 2 already in the making it’s no surprise that the glamorous town is still a hot topic — and party theme. This milestone birthday party not only took inspiration from the hit series, but also The Colony Palm Beach, a boutique hotel known for coating every inch of its spaces and rooms in the destination’s iconic pink and green palette. The theme pairs retro moments inspired by the show with glamorous hotel details, including a room key wall in place of a classic seating chart.

Is pickleball becoming America’s pastime? The the paddle sport has skyrocketed in popularity — and will certainly be an epic party theme in 2025. This networking event gets major points for making a country club green spritz wall, pickleball paddle wall photo op, and a paddle backdrop behind the bar. Throw in an actual pickleball court for guests to play and you’ve served up the perfect experiential party theme.

The first Monday in May is iconic for a reason. The annual MET Gala is host to some of the best red carpet fashion moments of the entire year —which made it the perfect inspiration for this Vogue-worthy wedding. Red hot mannequins were sprawled around the reception space along with fashion-forward floral moments and A-list worthy designs. Lucky invitees were certainly in for an experiential treat. Who doesn’t love a themed wedding?

photographer: Whitney Marie Photography | planner: Perfectly Timed Events | design & décor: Presch Petals | venue: Sweet Tooth Hotel | rentals: Shag Carpet Productions

Our kind of vacation. A sweet tooth-inspired hotel was the concept of this milestone birthday party — and the proof is in the pudding (and the rows of cakes, and the shelves of ice cream, and the tiers of macarons). The innovative celebration shows you can make a unique party theme out of anything — including your love of a decadent dessert. From a sprinkle donut bathroom mirror to a cotton candy photo booth, our mouths are watering at every sugar-inspired corner.

“Just fold it in!” Schitt’s Creek may be over, but the love for its 80 episodes will never fade. This wedding after party took inspiration from the couple’s favorite series — and of course, their favorite character Moira Rose. “Moira’s Wig Bar” was the perfect way to make a unique party theme moment an experience for guests — even if they don’t appreciate the brilliantly selfish character that is Moira, they can still enjoy her need to have a wig for every occasion.

photographer: Hannah Snyder | planner: Kyle Michelle Weddings and Events | design & décor: Jennifer Designs | rentals: Something Vintage Rentals

A sweet bridal shower deserves an adorable theme, and this “She’s off the market” celebration was as clever as it is cute. As a prequel to the bride’s upcoming Lake Como wedding, the shower brought inspiration from Italian markets to the table. Fresh flowers emerged from ceramic colanders, while fresh focaccia filled plates. Caterpillar tablescapes, striped signage, and citrus details were just the cherry on top.

Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday Lily Collins as Emily was starting her journey to Paris on the Netflix show Emily in Paris, and now the series is renewed for a 5th season. Bat Mitzvah guest of honor Emelie used the series’ lasting success to her advantage by making it an entire party theme — and casting herself as the main character, of course. Street performers, French cafes, macaron carts, and a floral Eiffel Tower were just a few of the elements that transported guests from New York to the capital of France.

Luxurious Cloud Nine Baby Shower at Rosewood Sand Hill
photographer: Carlie Statsky | planner: Amazáe Events Inc | design & décor: Nicole Ha Floral Design | venue: Rosewood Sand Hill

Where there’s a classic saying, there’s a party theme. The theme of this baby shower? ”On Cloud 9.” The party’s inspiration is clear as day thanks to ethereal white drapery decorated by overhead clouds, sky blue velvet chairs, and white floral tablescapes. Meanwhile, plush white lounges with comfortable cushioned couches left guests feeling like they were floating on clouds. The dessert bar was another slice of heaven, with sky-inspired confections from delicate cookies to exquisite cake pops. When it comes to unique party themes, the sky is truly the limit.

3. Dinner & a Show

The idea of dinner paired with a live show isn’t new, but at weddings and parties, those elements are usually separated — a seated meal followed by guests standing at the edge of the dance floor to watch a a performance. We love that, recently, we’ve been seeing more wow entertainment moments unfold during dinner, allowing every guest a good view from a comfortable spot.

“There will be more focus on textures, colors, and patterns to help subtly tie together event themes, especially through linen options,” says Julie Walter of Paramount Events, a top caterer and part of The Paramount Group. At PartySlate, we are seeing a trend toward maximalist tabletops, blending patterns and hues with abandon — and we love the joyful vibe.

12. Gallery Walls as Seating Charts

Place cards have undergone an evolution over the years. From tables of escort cards (as it was when I got married 26 years ago) to calligraphic seating charts to even more creative installations like place cards suspended from trees or seating assignments as garnishes for full glasses of Champagne. And all of those are still going strong, but we love the new, very personal, direction the trend is taking now: gallery walls.

14. “Carry-In” Catering

Yes, you can serve fare on plates, it works. But think about how handy take-out containers are for holding and eating. Consider theming the containers to your event, utilizing your palette or design, or adding personalization like a quote or monogram. Or imagine coordinating containers with the type of fare: Chinese take-out boxes, mini pizza boxes, and so on.

15. Down the Rabbit Hole Dance Floors

Black and white is an ever-popular event palette, always trending in search and creating stark modern vibes. Checkered dance floors have long centered elegant events of all kinds. But now, we are seeing new takes on the trend, with dance floors that demand attention with illusions and creative patterns.

This Alice in Wonderland-themed Bat Mitzvah celebration had creative details galore. From the oversized playing cards and giant mushroom art installations to the black-and-white checkered dance floor, which gave the illusion of a swirling hole to allude to the rabbit hole that main character Alice fell into.

16. Live Engravings

Last year we noted that personal gifting was on the rise, at corporate events in particular. Going into 2025, we’re still seeing personalization, especially live engraving. Live favor creation acts as both entertainment and a beautiful reminder of your special event.

17. Holistic Energy Elements

Holistic practices focus on the whole to create positive, calming energy. We’re seeing more centering activations and décor details at all kinds of events from corporate gatherings to weddings. Crystals, guided meditation, sound baths, nature-inspired elements, aura photo booths, and more are garnering interest.

18. Varsity Chic

Most sports are loud, primary-colored affairs. But the trend we are calling “varsity chic” honors the gamesmanship of time-honored traditions but makes it elegant. We’re talking vintage high school-themes and events that evoke a sport in pastel hues or florals.

19. Potted Plants & Trees

Eco-conscious events have been in fashion for a while. From locally-sourced fare and LEED-certified venues to post-party food and flower donations, couples and hosts are attempting to minimize their event’s footprint on our planet. Live potted plants and trees are the next step in this march toward beautiful sustainability. Plus, many couples are replanting their wedding décor in their own yard to enjoy for years to come.

20. Color, Maximized

A riot of colorful florals all mixed together makes for elegant whimsy. We’re talking a lot of hues, not in the ordered ombré of past year, but mixed with abandon into a tableau that would make Mother Nature proud. This maximalist approach to event décor feels both well-considered and free-spirited all at once.

21. Vintage Glassware & Serveware

“We are seeing a trend in glassware such as vintage speakeasy Nick and Nora glasses used for Martinis and specialty cocktails,” shares Cheryl Rebsch of Any Occasion Tents & Events. She notes that glam is overtaking rustic as a preferred style and that this glassware is part of that trend.

22. Love Story Menu

“An evening filled with endless food, drinks, and revelry is a top priority, with party-centric weddings rising for 2025,” shares Kori Carter Gillespie of The Catered Affair. “The culinary experience is three-dimensional, a journey of the couple’s tastes, preferences, and shared experiences. Imagine this: that unforgettable first date meal, now transformed into bite-sized wonders, offering a charming peek into the couple’s unique love story.”

23. Rattan Accents

Rattan is a beautiful décor addition with a natural, earthy vibe that complements a range of themes, from boho to tropical or whimsical. Its woven texture adds visual interest, while its lightweight and versatile design make it ideal for furniture, chandeliers, chargers, and centerpieces. Plus, it is eco-friendly and sustainable, fitting right in with modern event trends.

24. Modern Lace

Lace is making a comeback — but not the frilly doily lace of your grandmother’s don’t-touch-anything living room. Rather, this incarnation features sophisticated lace prints on linen, cakes, bar-fronts, swag, and more.

This vintage-style garden reception featured a timeless aesthetic in cream and white. The lace-print linen added elegance and interest to every tabletop.

25. Dreamy Drapery Installations

Drapery has gone dreamy. It’s not blocking out light or hiding an unattractive wall; instead light, gauzy fabrics are being draped from ceilings to soften rooms and create a fanciful vision. Celebrity event planner, Mindy Weiss of Mindy Weiss Party Consultants shared, “We’re seeing a lot of draping with what I would call ‘pick-ups’ — it’s much more romantic, it’s not straight. You can make it billowy.”

PartySlate’s 2024 Fall Hot List: 12 Trending Fall Wedding & Event Ideas

Oh how we love fall — and we know you do, too. In fact, fall has overtaken summer as the most popular season for weddings, with October as the most popular month of all. In addition to more weddings, fall brings a rise in dinner parties, holiday gatherings, and birthday celebrations that come as the weather cools down. (Did you know September is the most common birthday month?)

Needless to say, with fall means more than football, pumpkin spice lattes, cider mill trips, and Gilmore Girls reruns. The season brings a rise in epic events of all types, and a set of brand new trends to spot with them. This year, we’re prepared to see disco saddles, “haute” chocolate, and snackable centerpieces. Intrigued? Keep scrolling.

1. Frontier Flair

cocktail party: photographer: Tracy Autem and Lightly Photography | photo posted by & event planner: Sarabeth & Co.

Meet the event aesthetic of the moment: frontier flair. More glam than gothic Western, more country than modern glam, this trending wedding and event style is evoking the most imaginative designs. Think country-core — if it was married to flashy metalics and glimmering disco balls.

2. Rugged Leather Menus

wedding: photographer: Light as Gold | photo posted by & caterer: Peak Beverage || wedding: photo courtesy of & event planner: Pop Parties || wedding: photo courtesy of & photographer: Liz Zimbelman photography

Durable and decorative, faux leather menus are going to be everywhere this season. There’s a reason leather is a fall fashion staple — the texture and color lends itself perfectly to crisp days and cozy nights. Weddings and events are following fashion’s suit — but instead of dressing guests, leather will be dressing bars and tabletops in the form of memorable menus and stylish signage.

3. Golden Palm Palettes

wedding 1 & 2: photography: John Dolan Photography | photo courtesy of & furniture, lighting, décor: Revelry Event Designers || wedding: photographer: Caroline Jurgensen Photography | photo courtesy of & event planner: Caroline Events

As we make the transition from warm to cool weather, we’ll inversely transition from cool to warm yellows. If you’re not quite ready to let go of spring and summer’s “it” color — the beloved butter yellow — take it’s cousin, golden palm, for a spin. The shade offers the beauty of a crisp fall leaf with the radiance of an early autumn sunset, and can stand completely on its own or act as an exciting accent color.

4. Symmetric Seating

wedding: photo courtesy of & event planner: Madix & Co. || wedding: photographer: Courtney Masters | photo courtesy of & rentals: Found Rental Co. || wedding: photographer: John & Joseph Photography | photo courtesy of & event planner, designer: Ashley Chanel Events

Ditch the table rounds. All of them. Sleek square and rectangle tables are going to fill this fall’s floor plans — and create a perfectly symmetrical event design that’s oh so satisfying. Choosing one exclusive table shape brings a modern feel to roomscapes and outdoor spaces, which can easily be transformed for formal fall evenings or designed for more casual autumn events like an outdoor rehearsal dinner. Not to mention, they photograph perfectly.

5. Glitzy Fall Foliage

corporate event: photographer: Christian Oth Studio | photo courtesy of & design, floral: Van Vliet & Trap || wedding 2 & 3: photographer: Jessica Gold | photo courtey of & event planner: Drake Social

Sure, fall foliage isn’t a new concept this time of year — but this isn’t your average leaf-filled display. In the coming months, we’re going to see earthy arrangements mixed with modern metallics, reflective objects, and glitzy lighting to create a fresh look out of a classic fall décor element. Think fall branches made out of gold material, metallic orbs mixed with lush leaves, and natural bushels lit by shimmering lights.

6. Animal Prints

wedding 1 & 2: photographer: SEAN MONEY + ELIZABETH FAY | photo courtesy of & event planner: Reagan Events || dinner party: photographer: Ivash Photography | photo courtesy of & event planner: Aliana Events

Animal prints — specifically leopard prints — are the perfect décor trend for eclectic couples and party hosts to run with this season. Animal print can add texture, color, dimension, and lots of interest to otherwise mundane event elements like place setting napkins or simple dinner plates. Take it a step further and cover your dance floor in leopard spots, or add the pattern to your entertainment ensembles for an even wilder display.

7. Fern Forest Palettes

wedding: photographer: Pat Fury Photography | photo courtesy of & event planner: Kyle Michelle Weddings and Events || wedding: photo courtesy of & photographer: Garrett Richardson Photography || wedding: photographer: Eve Yarbrough Photography

After a lime green “Brat” summer, comes a softer, more earthy shade. Fern is the perfect medium tone green, complementing both light and dark palettes with ease. The effortless hue brings natural moments to fall weddings and events, and is the perfect accent color on lounges, entrances, and atop place settings.

8. Haute Chocolate Nightcaps

rehearsal dinner 1 & 2: photographer: Kristen Kilpatrick | photo courtesy of & event planner: Cassie LaMere Events || wedding: photographer: Natalie Watson Photography | photo courtesy of & draping, lounge, bar, props, décor: Revelry Event Designers

Chocolate is having a moment in the fashion world — and the catering world. A cozy cup of hot chocolate is the perfect offering for cool nights, especially at outdoor weddings and in open air tents. But of course, it wouldn’t be a trend on our list without a clever spin. This season’s hot chocolate is being served with personalized detail — from monogrammed marshmallows to initial-topped foam. Perfect for weddings, of course, but easily convertible to branding for company events and holiday parties.

9. Muted Ombré Florals

wedding: photo courtesy of & photographer: Meredith Coe Photography || wedding: photographer: Sarah Partain Wedding | photo courtesy of & event planner: Carly Saber Events || wedding: photographer: Norman & Blake | photo courtesy of & event planner: Callista & Company

Ombré has weaved in and out of trending floral aesthetics for years, and this season, we’re witnessing a serene and subtle comeback. In true ombré fashion, the color of floral arrangements are managed by shade, moving from light to dark, but unlike the ombré of the past, there’s a bit less order within each arrangement. With muted shades, varying shapes, and less obvious direction, this year’s take on ombré is sure to intrigue.

10. Dark Brown Details

wedding: photographer: Abby Jiu Photography | photo courtesy of & rentals: Found Rental Co. || wedding: photo courtesy of & event planner: Madix & Co. || wedding: photographer: Reagan Buckley Snell | photo courtesy of & design, floral, event planner: Laurie Andrews Design

Have you heard? Brown is the new black — and in events, that means it’s stepping in as a timeless but trendy accent color. Deep brown details are enriching fall wedding and event aesthetics, and can be found across all party elements — from bouquets to furniture. Don’t be surprised if your guests show up in rich shades of brown that perfectly complement these elements, as dark brown hues are also trending in fall fashion.

11. In-Season Centerpieces

conference & summit: photographer: KT Merry Photography | photo courtesy of & specialty furniture rentals: Found Rental Co. || corporate event: photographer: Abby Jiu Photography | photo courtesy of & rentals: Found Rental Co. || corporate event: photographer: Forged in the North | photo courtesy of & venue: Arlo Williamsburg

A well-rounded centerpiece is one you can… eat. Grapes come into season at the end of August and peak through late fall, making them the perfect edible arrangement for dinner tables and cocktail high boys. Whether you intend for guests to snack on them or not, they will undoubtedly offer a delicious treat for the eyes. Choose from ruby red vines, golden greens, or a combination of both. Not to mention, they’re a biodegradable décor option for eco-conscious party hosts. No sour grapes here, indeed.

12. Layered Draping

wedding: photographer: Abby Jiu Photography | photo courtesy of & rentals: Something Vintage Rentals || wedding: photographer: John & Joseph Photography | photo courtesy of & furniture, décor, draping: Revelry Event Designers || birthday party: photographer: CRV Productions | photo courtesy of & custom draping, décor: Revelry Event Designers

Cover up, it’s layering season — and yes, that applies to events, too. Neutral shades of beige, creams, and brown drapes are covering walls in elegantly overlapped layers and warm velvet textures. Nothing can transform an indoor venue into a cozy oasis like billowing fabric that encases an entire space, or textile archways that frame wow-worthy entrances.

13. Ikebana-Inspired Cakes

wedding: photographer: Sam & Sola Studio | photo courtesy of & event planner: Callista & Company || wedding: photographer: Paige Vaughn Photography | photo courtesy of & rentals: Loot Rentals || wedding: photographer: Nicole Donnelly | photo courtesy of & florals: Ashland Addison Floral and Event Decor

Simple and stunning. Ikebana arrangements are Japanese-style floral designs that emphasize odd numbers, unpredictable placements, and asymmetrical blooms. According to Pinterest, searches for Japanese fashion and home design are rising, which is no surprise given the recent popularity of Ikebana-style cakes at events.

Capture the drama of the season with a free-floating centerpiece that shifts from one hue to another — just like real autumn foliage.

Embrace a neutral color palette while accenting your boho style with feathery foliage and wicker seating.

Evoke romance with a bohemian twist by incorporating rich autumn hues, lush florals, and beaded chandeliers into your tablescape.

Combine rustic style with industrial charm by hosting your reception in a chic, warehouse-style venue (complete with autumn blooms set against a wooden tablescape).

Cast a magical vibe with candlelit tables set against jewel-toned uplighting — and choose your florals to match.

Keep it bright and cheerful with pops of pink and red from amaranthus and ranunculus blooms.

Bring the grandeur of a fall garden inside with an abundance of lush greenery and soft floral arrangements — plus plenty of candlelight.

Create a bright autumnal glow with a mix of warm-hued florals, grape clusters, and persimmons set beneath twinkling fairy lights.

A little goes a long way with neutral blooms — and the most delicate greenery — set against an off-white tablescape.

23 Unique Bat Mitzvah Themes Your Teen Will Love

I remember it like yesterday: my nieces agonizing over their Bat Mitzvah themes. Great party themes capture the celebrant’s personality and style. They also determine the overall look of the party — affecting everything from décor and entertainment, to swag and more.

Sometimes the right party theme is apparent. One of my nieces knew exactly what Bat Mitzvah theme she wanted. Meanwhile, my other niece struggled to find the perfect fit. She knew she wanted something her friends hadn’t seen before, as well as something that represented her — dare we say it? — personal brand.

For your undecided child, we recommend taking stock of their interests. Consider their favorite sports, movies, activities, and even colors. PartySlate is here to spark you and your child’s imagination — and to help find the right team of Bat Mitzvah vendors to pull off your dream theme.

Of course, your child’s Bat Mitzvah is so much more than a party. After months of hard work and diligent study, the celebrant receives her aliyah. She transitions into adulthood with the support of her loved ones. And after that?

We celebrate her with music, good food, and a bash she’ll always remember — long after adulthood is the norm. Keep reading to see PartySlate’s shortlist of creative Bat Mitzvah themes. From elevating a single décor element to becoming an entrepreneur for the night, these themes will wow guests (and your child).
