What is your favorite event featured on PartySlate and why?
This is such a hard one because I love so many events on PartySlate for so many different reasons. But if I had to pick one, I would choose Darren Criss and Mia Swier’s wedding (any Glee fans out there?). I love that they completely made it their own: he sang as she walked down the aisle and they performed a “first song” together. Their reception was covered top-to-bottom in color, with fun-loving décor and signage to match their personalities — and of course, disco-inspired elements (my favorite). I also just have to throw in this Friends-themed Bat Mitzvah because I’m such a huge Friends fan. It’s my total dream theme.
What is your favorite aspect or element of any celebration?
I love the joy in celebrations. Whether it’s a birthday, graduation, holiday party, wedding, or any other type of event, special occasions bring people together for a purely positive experience. Taking time to celebrate and spend time with loved ones is so important, and I love that day-to-day stressors are put aside to make room for happy memories at all different types of events. Celebrating in honor of major milestones — or for no reason at all — is what life is all about.
What makes a celebration really stand out from the crowd?
Creativity! No matter what your event size is (10 people for a holiday party to 300 people for a wedding), creative themes, unique décor, never-before-seen party favors, out-of-the-box catering, and more make any celebration memorable. Small, thoughtful details also go a long way with guests.
